Over the past two years have had to inexplicably jump Mdx when it fails to start, usually after sitting over night. (confirmed no auxiliary power left on. ) will be fine for a period of time, and symptoms reappear. Have now changed battery twice in past year. Four months after most recent battery change, battery was dead again. This time after jumped the car threw some additional warning lights around charging system. After trying to return to the parking space, the car started was not driving properly, seems to be electrical. After reading forums online my symptoms match very closely to others that have a handsfreelink issue on this model Mdx. (parasitic power draw. ) contacting Acura today, as this time the car is not drive-able.

Car electrical activated when start button was pushed but it wasn't clear if engine was running. Car would not "turn off" or lock. Many error messages came across dash and car was not properly recognizing fobs. An Acura service center was called and we were told our only option was to disconnect battery leads or let the car run until the battery died. Many hours later the battery died. When the Acura service truck came to get us they couldn't even get the car into neutral after charging the battery and wheel truck had to be called. The dealership had the car for weeks and was not able to determine the pause. We have multiple videos of the incident. Note that the car was not in accessory mode and the behavior is inconsistent with accessory mode.

Inexplainable battery drain on several occasions resulting in not enough power to start car. No solution from Acura except that it happens to a lot of owners. Most recently car died in an intersection (with two kids in car) and could not restart or shift to neutral (without power) to move out of intersection. Car was stopped at intersection, driver moved forward to make turn, driver stopped in intersection and auto-idle engaged (turning car off momentarily), when driver released brake, which would normally restart engine, car would not restart due to loss of power. Stuck for an hour in middle of intersection until jumped. Three days prior to that, car sat for 5 days without use in 40-50 degree weather, and battery was dead when attempted to start. Seems to be a parasitic drain or faulty charging electrical problem with car.
This is the third time the electrical system has failed caused by "battery drainage". Local repair shops do not know how to fix problems, but dealer's and Honda mechanics are very familiar with this horrible problem. Everyone fixing the problem knows very well this should be "a recall" matter, and creates a great road hazard as well are garage fires and loss of life. The things involved are "blue tooth" modular, air conditioner clutch relay, fuses. Regarding the blue tooth, this modular gets very very hot, and could cause a fire!! when the battery fails to charge while driving to get safely off the highway is very dangerous, much worst at darkness!! Honda needs to get their act together and recall and fix these problems now. My experience happened with the car in motion, and all indicators flashing, rear axle noises, heat inside car, loss of power, and vehicle in "kind of, a limping mode". Very scary and dangerous occurrence. We are the original owner of the car, now with 140,000 miles, and always serviced every 3-5,000 miles. We have taken pride in this vehicle, until this "battery drainage" problem, now is effecting our thoughts about Honda motors.
Bluetooth stopped working and a few weeks later, my car wouldn't start. I replaced the battery and a few days later the car stalled on me as I was pulling out of my spot!!!!! I went to the Acura dealer and explained to the guy that my battery kept draining. He asked me if my bluetooth stopped working, I was shocked because I hadn't mentioned any issues with my bluetooth but I let him know that in fact, the bluetooth had stopped. The rep said it's a common problem in my vehicle. Had to replace the bluetooth and paid $600!!!! my friends sister has the same make car and her bluetooth stopped working and her car battery keeps going dead. It's very scary since apparently I must have started the car right before the battery died again. Imagine what would've happened if it had stalled on a highway or a busy street!.

*****Acura Mdx 2008 battery is draining and car will not start due to hfl unit. ******** ***consumers should know so they can address this issue prevent being stranded somewhere with a dead battery*** this has been my experience 1) February 2013, vehicle @ 35,000 miles- battery replaced at Acura 2) October 2014, vehicle @ 48,000 miles- told by Acura battery needs to be replaced again 3) January 2015, vehicle @ 49,000 miles- I found online forum where Acura Mdx owners are having the same issue and the conclusion is a defective hfl (hands free link) unit draining the battery while the vehicle is off. 4) January 2015, vehicle @ 49,000 miles - I tell Acura service advisor at intake about online discussions and that I believe the hfl unit is draining my battery. The service advisor agrees the issue is definitely the hfl unit and the hfl unit will need to be replaced or unplugged but he will have the technician diagnose to confirm . I had Acura replace the hfl unit and the battery has not died since even after not driving the vehicle for three straight days. This is a safety concern for me as I believe driving hands-free is safer than driving with a phone in one's hand. It is also illegal to drive and talk on a hand-held phone in the state in which I live so unplugging the hfl unit is not an option for me. I believe Acura is aware of this issue based on my experience and all the many online forums where consumers with different Acura models, makes and years are discussing the same problem with the hfl and giving their feedback about their contact with Acura. Instead of doing a thorough diagnostic check I was told twice I needed a new battery. It was my third visit along with the information I found online that I got Acura's attention however by then the hfl was out of warranty.

Approximately 3 months ago I went to start the medic and it would not start. No lights or any other accessories were left on. The car was jumped and started. Being the car was 4 years old and I had reviews of battery problems in the medic, I had the battery replaced. About two weeks later it would not start again. It was jumped again and taken to an auto repair shop to be tested. The repair shop said the battery was weak, so it was replaced again. It's been about 2 months now and today when I went to start it, the battery was dead again. Three batteries do not go bad that quickly, there is a problem with the electrical system in this vehicle. I have noticed other complaints with this same issue on this web site.
Bought a new Mdx. Battery failed the first day(8/28/2006). 100 month battery replaced. Battery failed 2/24/2009. Acura had no explanation for battery problems. Warranty book said do not drive can cause someone being killed. We had car towed.
