The steering wheel stop functioning while driving without any reason. It's scary situation when driving on the road.
The contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact had to apply excessive force to the steering wheel in order to turn the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician stated that the power steering fluid and the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

My vehicle is experiencing power steering leaks and there is a very loud whining noise when the car is started in cooler weather. I went to an Acura and Honda dealer and they noted there were no problems and the previous recall issue has already been fixed. This vehicle has had similar complaints and related recalls in the past as well as many other safety related issues and it seems Acura and Honda are simply unwilling to fix problems with their product unrelated to normal wear and tear. It would benefit consumers if this vehicle especially this year and model were more thoroughly examined by an independent third _party.
Car family owned since new and serviced. The front right subframe (rear side of the two parts of the subframe cradle) rotted completely thru (passenger side) leaving hole thru and leaving control arms, steering rack detached. The rest of the frame is rot free, just this one area which is completely rotted away. A google search shows that this is not uncommon with this model Acura Tl and some Honda accords.

Problem with power steering hose leaking causing smoke underneath the hood. I read on Acura website that there was a recall for the power steering hose leaking for 2004-2008 Acura Tl. I am experiencing this problem and read it can cause a fire underneath the hood.

May 2013, on a straight road, at 8:55pm. Motorist traveling towards me speeding with bright lights on. Motorist made contact with my car on passenger side fender and door. Motorist hit and ran and later told police she thought she hit an object. At the time of impact there was a loud explosion as the airbags deployed, darkness, an awful smell, smoke, I could not see, I lost control of the car as the car veered across the street to on- coming traffic. I thought I had died, but as the car stopped in the grass, I felt the brakes and realized I had not died. I exit the car coughing as my chest felt like it was on fire, I could barely see, my eyes were burning, then I realized I was hit. Neighbors came and offered to help; I told them that I was not feeling any pain, yet . After effects: burn on both forearms, right side of face felt like someone slapped with an object-like a hot bath towel, feeling of dust in my eyes, watery eyes, loss of taste of food, constant tiredness, feeling lethargic even 9 months later, severe pain and numbness in right leg and right arm, lower back pain not severe, the urge to keep my eyes close, cannot remain asleep for extended period, and when I wake I want to keep my eyes close, three times did not go to work because my heart palpitating all day like I am having an heart attack, used a cake because I was limping.

Purchased car on 01/21/2013. Was back at dealer on 01/26/2012 due to a weird vibration at high speeds (50-80 mph). Long story short they have balanced the tires like 3 times and put new tires but it is still vibrating not as much but still. Going back to dealer to see what they have to say this time.

Got electric power steering (eps) warning light and lost the power assist. Could not reset and had to drive car to dealer with no power assist. Very difficult to steer at low speed.
12/19/2012 9am, I was driving California freeway (110) about 30 miles/hr. Weather was clear, road was dry and no pot holes. I got "power steering warning" lights/beeps and I could not steer the car. It was very stiff to steer and I barely pulled over to the curve. (engine was still running). And I stopped the engine and turned back on then the problem disappeared. But it was the scary experience on the freeway. I took my car to the dealer, santa monica Acura and left overnight for troubleshoot. Next day, the service adviser told me that they could not duplicate the problem, ran all the tests and contacted "tech service" but nothing abnormal found. They said it is ok to drive. My concern is what if it happens again on the curvy road at high speed and I lose the control of steering.
The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tl. The contact stated that smoke started to emit from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the high pressure power steering hose was leaking over the catalytic converter. As a result, the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,800 and the current mileage was 64,000.

Driving normally on city street when suddenly engine died & all electrical on console turned off. Car was diagnosed with faulty ignition switch. There had been a recall for this part. I've confirmed that my car was serviced by dealer under that recall & the ignition switch had been replaced some time ago; the replaced part failed. Incident placed my family in seriously dangerous situation--in middle of road/traffic without power or instruments & barely able to steer.

I have a 2008 Acura Tl type-s. There is a safety recall for the power steering hose for this model, however the VIN of my car is not covered. I am experiencing the issue with the power steering hose leaking (verified by an Acura dealership). I called Acura and they said that even though I am experiencing the same issue as cars that are covered under the recall, my car is not covered. I know from reading reports from other Tl owners who have had the same issue, the hose on my car does not have the hose with the heat-shield that is installed when the recall work is performed, thus my car has the defective hose and should be covered.
I was driving approximately 55 mph on a busy street. Without warning and without any direction from me, the cars right front brake engaged for a short period of time (seconds) and the steering wheel jerked to the right. The incident corrected itself quickly and the vsa light comes on and stays on. It is a very scary experience. In the beginning, it only occurred once every week or two. The frequency has steadily increased over the past year. At this time, it occurs about every other time you drive the vehicle.
The main power steering hose developed a leak. I own a type s model and according to the local dealership the recall does not apply to my vehicle. This is odd do to the fact that my hose deteriorated in the same manner described in the recall. Many other 2007 and 2008tl type s owners reported the same problem. The new hose installed has a heat shield in the area affected. Obviously they are aware of the problem. Heat caused by the engine near the hose is causing the deterioration. I understand that this also a fire hazard. This was reported online and by the service rep at the dealership. I think that this should be enough to include my model car as part of the recall.
Power steering leak causing smoking, & squeeking along with difficult steering. There is a current recall on 2007 Acura Tl but american Honda says it does not apply to the s-type. Not true, myself & several other Tl-type s owners have had the same problem. If this leads to a fire, I will seek punitive damages against all parties who fail to address this high priorty safety recall.
My Acura Tl is a type s. They have a recall for the high pressure power steering hose on the Tl but not the type s. My high pressure power steering hose is leaking in the same place as all the other Tls (verified by numerous Acura forums). It is leaking directly on the exhaust on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Smoke can be smelled at all speeds while driving. This is definitely a fire hazard. I am a mechanical engineer and an ase certified auto mechanic. I purchased a replacement out of pocket after the dealer denied coverage and repaired it. The replacement hose came with heat shield wrap around the exact place mine is leaking. The recalled hose was due to heat deterioration. My original hose had no heat wrap. If the Tl-s is not subject to the recall, why would it need this upgrade?.
The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tl. The contact stated that smoke was seen coming from under the hood of the vehicle as the steering wheel was turned accompanied by a loud buzzing noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there was a leak in the high pressure power steering hose and that the hose would need to be replaced. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 08v091000 (steering: hydraulic power assist: hose, piping, and connections) but was advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 74,000.
Same defect as 2007 Acura Tl with power steering hose has occurred in my and apparently many 2007 Acura Tl type-s recall does not include type s even though hose is same and in same location as the Tl please inform as to why.
The contact owns a 1999 Acura Tl. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from the steering wheel followed by the vehicle stalling. The contact waited for the temperature of the vehicle to cool and was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle stalled approximately seven times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 172,000. The VIN was not available.
I was at the dealership to get my car service and found out that my power steering hose is leaking which in 2004 -2008 Acura Tl recall but since I have 2007 Acura Tl type s it is not under recall. Well it seems like my hose deteriorated and got worn out after 63,000 miles and now there is a leak which could potential cause major damage and lead to a fire. Dealer is telling me its not under recall when it happens to be the exact same hose pipe.
While driving my 2009 Acura Tl with 10,000 miles on it the steering wheel locked up. Before I could stop the car I sideswiped a guardrail causing minor cosmetic damage. The car was towed to devan Acura in norwalk CT. They could not figure out what was wrong so the engineers from Honda were called. They disassembled the steering system part by part. The parts were sent out to California to the Honda engineers. After "careful inspection" they could not find anything wrong with the parts. They are saying the steering was damaged as a result of the accident. That is exactly the opposite of what actually happened!! they are trying to cover up a serious safety issue! I asked them to replace the parts and to pay for the damage to the car but they refused. Instead they gave me a bill for $3500. 00 american Honda corporation is not standing behind their product and letting the customers down. I suggest thinking twice about buying a Honda or Acura because this is the way you will be treated if you have a problem! so much for the safety of their customers.
