Acura TL owners have reported 54 problems related to steering (under the steering category).
While driving to work on the highway, the "check power steering system" warning came on. I noticed the steering was erratic and felt I didn't have much control any longer. I immediately pulled aside and tried to search for the warning. I took it to my Acura dealer and was quoted $1200 to fix the eps module. I was shocked by the cost and how quickly the system failed. My car is 2012 Acura Tl with about 95k miles. I have never had this happen to any of my other cars. I have owned two Acura in the past. With this issue, I have to get it fixed. It seems like this is a manufacturer defect and should be covered by Honda/Acura. Disappointed to have to bear this cost. . . But rather be safe than sorry.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway to work and my electronic power steering went out I almost hit a tractor trailer and it caused me to have a panic attack because it all happened so fast I did not know what to do besides slam on the brakes. This issue could of potentially caused my death or other peoples death or injury , this could of ended out bad. Can you please contact me ASAP regarding this issue. And there should be a recall on the electronic power steering system because any Acura owners with high miles on the vehicles could end up having this same issue and could end up being a law suit.

Over the years since I purchased the Acura 06 Tl I have been having problems with the battery- car won't start sometimes. I purchased a few batteries already. Finally on 7-24-2017 I was out of town (west palm beach) when my car won't start. I went to closest Acura dealer where I learned that the issue was a defective hfl that had a parasitic drain on the battery from defective hfl. Had to purchase another battery. Acura never informed me that there was a defect of hand free link. In past I had to replace the starter and power steering. Certain features still does not work- passenger front window, heating element for car seat passenger, power outlet in console box.

Nhtsa 12v-222. Acura says there isn't any recall on this matter. Meanwhile, the smoke that is causing this problem makes it unbearable for us to turn on the heat or a/c because of this faulty manufacture problem.

Rust through condition on right sub-frame supporting engine, transmission, right front suspension. Air conditioning condenser drain tube drips condensation/water directly onto this area of the sub-frame causing severe corrosion and eventually part failure leaving engine, transmission, right front suspension without proper alignment and support that can happen at any speed. Acura denounced any knowledge of this problem. Left side of same part is not effected at all. Internet search has discovered numerous instances of this problem. TSB has been issued for 1999-2002 Honda accord cars with this same problem. But manufacture's solution was to move the location of the drain tube in future model years of the car. I paid an independent repair shop $2,600 to replace the rear sub-frame section. The dealership wanted to replace both front and rear sub-frames but the front section was not effected and did not require replacement. The repair shot I took my car to to have the work done praised the car for being spotless underneath except for the effected area. Problem was discovered on August 16, 2016.
1. Hfl lhas continuously drained several batteries since I purchased the car in 2008. Until recently I did not know it was the hfl until the Acura dealership said it's a known problem and it either needs to be repaired or removed. It's very expensive to repair, so I had it removed. I also just purchased a 2007 Acura Tl s and while I was sitting at the dealership inputting the radio info and attempting to connect with to the hfl link the battery became completely drained in less than 10 min. The hfl has not worked in the 2005 since I bought it and it does not work on the 2007 either. I have a separate complaint form filled out for that car. The dealership said it's a known problem with Acura Tl, but not a recall yet. It should be a recall. 2. The power steering has seemed to go out over the last 8 months and it has become difficult to steer. If I can remember there was a recall regarding the power steering hose for this model Tl. I believe it was repaired during the initial recall, but the Acura dealership refuses to replace the part again even though the same problem is happening again.
Power steering rack leaking inside into the boot. Dealer says, the rack has failed an needs to be replaced. Very unusual for a car with 70000 miles only to have the power steering rack leaking. I am not the only one. Hundreds of other consumers have reported the same complaint on Acurazine forums for Acura Tl cars. . Read more...
Engine shuts off while driving at about 65 mph causing the car to lose speed, hard to steer and hard to brake. I heard that there was a recall about this cars (Acura). With the same (switch) problem. Why my car is not included ??.

2008 Acura Tl. Consumer writes in regards to power steering feed hose leak recall repairs. The consumer is seeking reimbursement for the repair he paid for.
I was merging onto the freeway and while doing a turn the wheel became hard to turn causing me to lose control temporarily. The power steering liquid is leaking. This is dangerous I could have hit another car !!!!!!!!.
The steering wheel stop functioning while driving without any reason. It's scary situation when driving on the road.
The contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact had to apply excessive force to the steering wheel in order to turn the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician stated that the power steering fluid and the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
I currently own a 2007 Acura Tl and my power steering consistently goes in and out. It is extremely difficult to steer when traveling at slow speeds, such as in a parking lot. My vehicle's VIN doesn't show that the power steering recall associated with many 2004-2008 Acura Tls affects my car, however I believe that may be the reason my power steering doesn't work very well at all. I recently had my car inspected at bianchi Honda in erie, PA for my annual inspection and they said that the only way to fix the issue that I'm having with my power steering is to replace the power steering hose etc. Can you please let me know if my car's power steering problem can be fixed? thank you. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My vehicle is experiencing power steering leaks and there is a very loud whining noise when the car is started in cooler weather. I went to an Acura and Honda dealer and they noted there were no problems and the previous recall issue has already been fixed. This vehicle has had similar complaints and related recalls in the past as well as many other safety related issues and it seems Acura and Honda are simply unwilling to fix problems with their product unrelated to normal wear and tear. It would benefit consumers if this vehicle especially this year and model were more thoroughly examined by an independent third _party.
Car family owned since new and serviced. The front right subframe (rear side of the two parts of the subframe cradle) rotted completely thru (passenger side) leaving hole thru and leaving control arms, steering rack detached. The rest of the frame is rot free, just this one area which is completely rotted away. A google search shows that this is not uncommon with this model Acura Tl and some Honda accords.
