Seat belt and airbag light came on and then I got a message to service air bags. Car has been making a noise in steering column and also a clunk at times in steering column. I am wondering if air bags will work in a crash? service air bag message gone now along with the light?.
I bought the car a 2007 in September of 2012 with 50000 miles. When driving varies speeds and when the drivers seat is moved the air bag light will come on at random. Every time it comes on know it lasts longer than before. Have talked to several people and they said that if its on and I get in a accident the airbags may not work? wouldn't that be a safety issue?.
My air bag light now remains on. The mechanic has indicated that due to different drivers using the car and changing the position of the seat the connection has been severed. Per the mechanic , Buick is repairing the cars for only those people that have less than 36,000 miles. How can they not repair for me? we have 3 drivers in the family and are not the same in height. On page 76 of the owners manual it indicates that the car has a sensor to determine where the driver is sitting. I would expect the car to not "wear" out in sensing and sever the connection. Can you assist with this? my vehicle has 98572 miles.
Service air bag light came on. Took vehicle to dealer. Vehicle air bag module and connector replaced under warranty. Service air bag light has come on and off several times over past few months. Currently light is back on and continues to stay on. This recurring situation indicates a problem with the vehicle's air bag system that should qualify for a recall. The integrity of the air bag system is obviously in question and personal safety is being compromised.
The contact owns a 2006 Buick Lucerne. The contact stated that the check air bag light illuminated while driving 15 mph. She took the vehicle to the mechanic and was informed that it was a common issue. She was advised to have the dealer make the repairs. The dealer stated that there was an issue with one of the computers in the vehicle that could prevent the air bags from deploying in the event of a crash. During this time, the contact heard a very loud clunking noise coming from the steering component. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that they could not repair the vehicle since it was out of warranty. The contact believes that this is a manufacturer defect, but the manufacturer is refusing responsibility. The failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 72,000.
