My son was driving when he noticed smoke from under the hood. He pulled over and flames engulfed the front of the car . It was a total loss. Al his belongings were inside as he was moving to college. I received a recall for this matter in the mail. VIN # and reason matches my car. I had liability insurance only so I lost everything. I had to pay for the parking lot damage also. My son was not injured thanks to his quick thinking and god. I paid $3000. 00 for the car. We still trust g. M. But would like them to address this matter with me. Thank you,.

A fire broke started under the engine and quickly spread to the top and front seat. My son got out just in time, thank god. The car was totally burned. A month latter we received a recall notice stating a fire could happen. I have been conversing with alot of people and getting no where. I pray you can help me. In December of 2006 my 1999 Buick Regal gse with supercharger caught on fire in engine department 5 to 10 minutes after leaving vehicle. There was a complaint of a 'burnt toast' smell in the area of the vehicle prior to the fire. We did notice a decrease in the mpg indicator (5mpg less )several days prior to the fire . The fire resulted in a total loss of the vehicle. The fire also caused a monetary loss due to the fact that we were responsible for a $500 insurance deductible plus the insurance company only gave us trade-in value instead of replacement value for the vehicle.

My car started jumping forward while in park and jumping while driving. About a week or so after doing that I was driving when a huge cloud of smoke came from under the hood. After turning off the engine and getting out of the car, it was on fire in a matter of minutes. The fire dept came and eventually put the fire out. Everything under the hood is totaled, the windshield cracked, the whole interior smells of burnt rubber from the tires being burnt and all wires throughout the car are shot.

I drove my 99 Buick Regal to work, parked, went inside, started answering email. Was informed by CO workers that my car was burning. My car was engulfed in flames in minutes.

1. Trac off light / antilock light / chk eng soon light on 2. & 3. Note: vehicle was taken to authorized Buick dealership (brown & wood - 329 greenville blvd - greenville,nc 27834 (tel. 252-355-6080) . . Following comments recorded on customer # 7536183 invoice # 152240 dtc c1218 pump motor circuit shorted to voltage. The problem does not always exist. The diagnosis at this time is all ok. Nothing checks faulty, but the ebcm is failing at times. Also may need a bpmv pack also. Quoted . Declined . Cleared dtc's . I would replace the ebcm first. ( cost for repair quoted approx $2500 which was declined due to further investigation by owner on whether this is a know issue. Vehicle has only 64,814 mi. ) searched NHTSA site & noted item number 10017271. Issue also reported to gm @ 800-762-2737 in which file was opened for business case in effort to resolve with minimum cost to me as the customer.

Buick Regals - 1989 and 1997 - the '89 blew a head gasket at 190,000 miles and the '97 after 141,000 miles and cracked both heads - with perfect servicing and care. No warnings - just heated up and immediately blew - but had never over-heated prior to blowing gaskets. .

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and without warning vehicle will shut off, causing consumer to pull over. Dealer notified.

Bolt in oil pan has stripped and separated from oil pan. Entire unit has to be replaced.

Broken valve spring in the engine.

After having reported a steady burning "engine check light" to the dealer, approximately two weeks prior to engine problem and upon being advised to be sure to tighten gas cap to create the proper vacuum, the light went out and the car ran like a top. Upon stopping at the store and hearing a little chug, the engine then rattled, etc. And had no power on start-up and was towed to dealer. The dealer found a broken valve spring in the engine. Much to our consternation when we thought we had purchased a 100,000 mile virtually maintenance free engine, there seems to be no explanation for this occurrence and we wonder (1) others have complained of such a problem, (2) this is a defect in the original equipment, and (3) this might be a dealer defect to be corrected by the dealer.
