Cadillac Deville owners have reported 9 problems related to alternator/generator/regulator (under the electrical system category).
Car purchased 10/16/2003 with 15200 mileage. Left rear door regulator failed. This door could not have been used in 9 years more than 20-25 times. Dealer, royal Cadillac, charged $694. 95 for replacement. I complained to Cadillac, requesting reimbursement, and they refused. Research indicates that door regulator failures on this make and model were well known and published many years ago. Given the little useage of this door (we are senior citizens and rarely have rear seat passenders) I believe this defect to exist at the time of purchase.

The window regulator on the rr window of my 2005 Cadillac Deville is refective. My window is down and won't come back up although the motor power is running to the window the regulator is broken. I have checked the complaints and noted that there are several complaints regarding defective window regulators on this model of Deville which in 2002 through 2005. I called the dealer and they knew exactly what the problem was and said it would cost over $500. 00 to replace. This is only one window. There is the possibility that this could occur three more times. I know several people with this model Deville ( not this year) that have the same problem but can not afford to get the part replaced consequently they are driving around with no window in the back. I feel this is unsafe for children and pets. As well as dangerous for leaving your car out. I would appreciate if you would check into this. I think it has not been addressed because the complaints appear to be unrelated. However taken as a whole for all the years it is significant. I you look at the window regulators you will see the problem. I do not know how to get Cadillac to address this problem.

I have had my Deville for 31/2 yrs. 33,600miles when I brought it. I have replaced regulators in three windows and at this time they need to be replaced once again. Something has to be wrong with these wiindows. I am on disabity. Need not say no more on that. But I feel there is a serious problem with this and it should be addressed. At this I have 71,00 miles and I love my car, original paint job great,no damages on my car. I take great care cause it has to last me. Also I have onstar and I must say it wasn't worth all the money I put on. I you refund my funds seriously. Oh yes I have replace two windows twice this will the 3rd time. You recieved the money for these cars. "do you think there is a problem with your product. . Tell me"? this replacemement should be on you guys, what you say!. . . . Thank you very much!.

3 window regulators proven defective since owning 2003 Cadillac Deville. #1 drivers window on 9/17/08 done under warantee at 31,000 miles; #2 front passenger window done 11/13/10 @ 52,000 miles cost $356. 00 at dealer; #3 drivers side rear passenger window regulator on 6/8/11 @60,000 milesreplaced-cost $502. 00 contacted Cadillac customer service, received a case # and was told that since car is out of warantee there will be no reimbursement for repair costs. Several customer comments to Cadillac customer sevice by other owners of similar model and year have same problems and needed replacements of several regulators. Gov't agency should explore this problem and have Cadillac re-examine reimbursements for repairs of this problem with 2003 and 2004 Cadillac Devilles.
Left front window regulator failed. Regulator replaced. This is the third window regulator has failed on. The right rear window and the left rear window regulators failed as well and had to be replaced. The window falls down and won't go back up using power. Can push it up by hand but it won't stay up.
2004 Cadillac Deville I have also had three window "regulator" (raise-lower) mechanism failures in the last year. Current mileage is about 82,000 miles and car is otherwise properly maintained. I also had the "knee bumper" below the steering wheel fall off and it too had to be replaced.
While driving alternator locked up. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

After repairs the previous day, alternator again fried. The dealership now blames after market battery. Supposed dead cell. This instance almost caused a wreck on the interstate. Stranded for 3 hours. New battery and alternator. Car was dead when towed to the dealership. After finally arriving at end destination, I had the battery the was supposed to be bad checked and it checked out ok.

The volts went to 11. 1 and then the car failed to run. Dealership said that the alternator was fried. Replaced alternator. All other electrical checked out ok.
