My engine leaks oil from the seals. It was always dealer maintained for regular maintenance with low mileage. It started 3 years ago. I noticed you recalled other vehicles for this problem. My engine is a v8. Regular oil changes etc. It continues to leak. Dealer wants $2,500 to fix seals. The way I drive it with low millage of 60,000 miles it should not have leaked. Just read about recall of other gm cars on 27 oct. 2015.

Engine began to leak oil after 40000 miles. The company and dealership assured me this was normal. Longer I operated this car, more it began to leak. At first few drops, then later, 1-2 qts between oil changes. Today, it is worst. I have spent several thousand dollars related to this engine. The leaks continue to this date. Engine stopped once on me, shut off, nothing worked. No airbag, any electrical service. Hit hole in road and everything shut off. Called company many times, wrote to president, other executives all to no avail. There are many Cadillac Devilles with same leaking problem, the northstar engine has this problem since 1998, on all their models. It is like the key, they will do nothing until made to correct it. I hope you follow through, this is not right and cause many problems with deep expenses for owners.

2003 Cadillac Deville dhs the front brake pads, rotors and left front caliper had to be replace. The consumer stated the left front caliper would stick and it didn't release properly which caused the left front brake and rotor to wear. After the consumer picked the vehicle up and started driving, she heard the new brakes grinding. The consumer contacted the dealer again and was told after market parts had been installed on her vehicle. Consumer stated she specifically requested original gm parts be put on the vehicle. The dealer also informed the consumer the engine block halves and rear shocks were leaking oil.

This northstar engine has leaked oil,(not burning it) since 40,000 miles. I use 2 or more quarts of oil between oil changes. It leaks whenever it is parked. I have spent monies on this, but it appears a major engine repair is needed. Some say, the bolts were too short, and others say, this defect continued until the 2006 year.
: the contact stated the vehicle's oil and antifreeze leaked causing the intake and outtake of the engine to rust, in turn causing the pipe to bust and the vehicle to overheat. The vehicle needed a new engine to fix this issue. Updated 12. 8/2006 - 4. 6 liter northstar engine. The l/f window was inoperative. The brakes pulsated. The ses light illuminated. The headlight was inoperative. The automatic transmission failed.

The contact owns a 2002 Cadillac Deville. The contact stated that there was a constant leak from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that an oil change was needed. The oil was changed several times but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who then diagnosed that there was a secondary air injection reaction and further diagnosis would have been required. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
My 1997 Deville has an oil leak due to poor engineering and results in the car dying out at any time. This has resulted in loss of power steering and brakes. I have had the car serviced but the problem quickly reoccured.

Consumer noticed oil on parking garage floor. Took vehicle to dealership for inspection. Dealership indicated oil was leaking from the oil pan gasket rear seal, upper crank case valve cover, and rear seal due to a flaw in the north star engine. Oil pan casket had been replaced, and upper crank case will be replaced. This was a common failure with these engines.

Oil is leaking from underneath of engine. Vehicle is under 50,000 mile/4 year warranty, however, dealership covered 60 percent of repairs.
I have a 1996 Cadillac Deville that I purchased new. At about 83k miles, I noticed that an oil leak had started from under the engine. I took it in to the dealer near where I live now (moritz Cadillac in arlington, TX), and was told that the cause of the oil leak was the wearing out of the engine seals at the bottom of the engine. I was then told it would cost $1,800 to repair as it would require the complete removal of the engine from the car to repair (about 18 hours of labor). After some research on the web I found that this is apparently a fairly common problem with Cadillac's with the northstar engine. I believe this to be a design flaw in the engine, and because the cost is so high, makes it very difficult for owners to have the repairs done, and hence are driving cars that are both environmentally unsound and potentially unsafe due to the leaking oil.
Vehicle was leaking oil from several places. Took to dealer, and they put in gaskets, but it's still leaking oil.
Loose oil filter causing leakage. Mjs.
Not a safety defect but this car is leaking oil around the oil pan and from what I understand from the dealer that they have redesigned the rubber gasket to withstand hotter tempatures and I feel that this should be some kind of recall on this. The dealer is wanting $1800. 00 to repair this and my car has only 58,000 miles on it.
Leak oil after serviced twice.
