My 2003 Cadillac Deville with 7200 miles on the odometer over the past twelve months has experienced intermittent decelerating engine stall. This car is a crash waiting to happen, as it has stalled over 30 times. This car has high rolling resistance, so when it stalls, it comes to a sudden stop. The dealer says he can't duplicate the stall, and there are no computer error codes. I don't know what else to do. Get rid of the car? if I don't use the new car warranty, the dealer will replace parts in an attempt to fix the problem.
: the contact stated that while driving 55 mph the vehicle engine suddenly stalled. There were no symptoms before the incident. After the incident occurred the engine work properly. An independent mechanic replaced the crank sensors to repair the engine. Updated 7/25/2006 - the consumer has the faulty sensor in his possession.
My 1999 Cadillac Deville has stalled out 3 times in the last 6 months. All 3 of the engine stalls have occurred on the highway as I have reduced speed in preparation to enter a lower speed limit zone or in preparation to stop at an intersection. The loss of power during these stalls makes breaking and turning extremely difficult. In addition, I'm forced to come to a stop in the middle of the road in order to restart the engine. This is a very dangerous situation.

2001 Cadillac DE ville was built with defective engine parts (crank sensor) that cause it to stall without warning. . . In my car, Cadillac has replaced this same part twice with the full knowledge that the original and the replacement parts were defective. Yet, Cadillac refuses to initiate a recall. . . This is unacceptable, because of the risk for accident and fatalities. . . . When the engine stalls it is nearly impossible to quickly steer or safely stop the vehicle. I respectfully request for the NHTSA to require Cadillac to recall every vehicle with this problem. I also feel Cadillac should be required to design a backup system for future engines that would keep the engine ruinning if the "crank sensor" would fail. Looking forward to your response.
Engine has stalled approximately ten times while driving at any speed. Dealership has examined vehicle three times, and has been unable to effectively remedy the problem. Please provide any additional / information / documentation.

The vehicle restarted after being shifted into neutral. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was unavailable.
On three occasions engine charging system light would come on, and engine would stall while vehicle was in operation. Dealership could not duplicate defect, but have replaced crankshaft position sensor, and retested system. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
