Headlights problems of the 2014 Cadillac SRX - part 1

We own a 2014 Cadillac Srx that we purchased in 2019. The low beam headlights do not illuminate the roadway at night. Our vehicle was not safe to drive after sunset. This same issue has been relayed to Cadillac dealers and to Cadillac corporate by thousands of owners but they have refused to address the issue since 2016. This issue has been the subject of several class actions suits. This issue on our year vehicle has been reported more than 300+ times by other owners of this model. Nhsta needs to compel gm to issue a recall of this safety defect or injuries or fatalities due to this safety defect, which is well known to Cadillac will be the fault of Cadillac and NHTSA.

I can not see out of my headlights at night because they are so dim. Searching the internet this is a problem Cadillac knows about for my model and year, they have a class action lawsuit about this problem and do not have a recall! it is due to the housing on lights they get moisture in and it makes the bulbs dim. To fix this problem is $2000 plus. Currently I can not drive my very expensive Cadillac at night without the brights on!.

The headlight have become so dim I cannot safely drive at night. There are numerous articles/lawsuits regarding this issue but no recall has been issued.

Class action lawsuit was file for headlights that go dim after life of the vehicle. I never received letter in regards to lawsuit and dealer will not help to replace headlights. This should be a recall headlights are very important dealer and manufacture are aware of this headlight issue because of the class action lawsuit they settled. Please make this a recall headlights go dim no visiability at night!!!! manufacture recommends to replace out of pocket expense to consumer knowing it is a manufacture defect on their part. No accident but many close calls.

2014 Cadillac Srx. Consumer writes in regards to issues with headlights. The consumer stated the low beam headlights did not display enough lighting. The highbeam light on the left side did not work properly. The consumer was informed by a local mechanic that the reflector plates were deteriorated and needed to be replaced. Problem: low beam headlights on 2014 Cadillac Srx: with age, the low beam headlights become too dim to drive at night even though there is nothing wrong with the actual headlight bulb. The problem is related to the materials and design of the Cadillac Srx headlight assemblies. The reflector of the low beam headlight is made of plastic with a chrome coating. The heat of the oem bulb deteriorates the chrome coating on the reflector until it appears as the dull white color of the plastic base material. Without the chrome coating the low beam headlights are very dim. Replacing the headlight bulb will not remedy the situation. The only fix is to replace the entire headlight assembly and this is usually done at a dealership because the whole front grill/bumper must be removed). During 2019 and 2020 Cadillac had a reimbursement program for people that complained or owners that received letters about the program which was handled by a 3rd party. There had been complaints to Cadillac about these low output headlights but they kept this problem out of the public realm by quietly settling with those customers. The estimate I received today from everett Chevrolet-Cadillac in hickory nc was $1900 to replace both headlight assemblies with factory original parts. I spoke to Cadillac customer care today and they said they may possibly assist in the replacement but I would have to submit a written estimate to them for review. If Cadillac is not responsible for this problem then why have they paid for replacements in the past and why will they consider paying for them now on a case by case basis? these aging Cadillac Srx models are not safe to be on the roads with these dim low beam headlights. Owners either have to be very careful or use their high beam headlights in night time traffic.

The headlights even though they are working don't put out enough light to drive at night. There was a lawsuit concerning this matter, the dealer wanted us to front $2200. 00.

The headlights have been getting more dim causing safety issues at night forcing me to use the high beams to much and gm tried to force owners to pay to fix $1700 estimate out pocket with the hope & prayer they would reimburse through a third party that has been a nightmare as documented on:: https://gmauthority. This is a death waiting to happen and gm is barely going through the motions to make sure they are not ignoring it but blowing it off in many ways suppressing it in many ways . The other problems with the wheel bearings and suspension are scary when you hear the noises and I think more scary when you ask for an estimate which I will put off deciding to take a chance with an area of the car that can truly cause death if the past means anything. I am going to mention the problem with the defective que system that they are clearly trying to deny but did pay 90% of my $1000 repair without taking blame and of course this is not a real safety concern but worth describing because it shows a clear pattern of suppression and avoidance to recall a clearly defective part of a vehicle . Due to covid-19, I was not driving at night. Recently, I needed to go out in the early evening and realized my headlights were extremely dim and at times there are no lights at all. This is extremely dangerous!. Now, I cannot drive my vehicle at night. Cadillac is aware of the problem because they issued a letter and said that there is an issue which possibly can occur in the future and provided a deadline date. At the time I received the letter, my car was fine however the deadline has passed, the service department where I take my car for repairs said to call Cadillac to extend the deadline date. I was shock to find out that Cadillac witl not extend the deadline date nor will my $3200 extended warranty cover the $1600+ repairs either. Recall is necessary!.

The low beam headlights are so dim I can not see more than 2 feet on fromt of me. This issue is apparently cause by faulty casing on the headlights on 2010-2016 Srx Cadillacs and gm is not taking ownership for this mistake. My behicke cannot be driven at night without the high beams on. We noticed the issue while driving down the interstate in it for the first time at night. There is already a class action lawsuit because this is a common problem.

My passenger side headlight is so dim on regular (not high beam), that I cannot see the edge of the road. I have complained to Cadillac directly. They advised I take it to the dealer, which I did. I was told by the service rep at fields Cadillac in jacksonville that it is a reflector behind the bulb, and they see it a lot. The issue is this: I was told they would be happy to repair it; however I had to pay for it, and Cadillac would reimburse me. I asked the price. It was approx. $1500! I am a widow, living on social security, and do not have that kind of disposable resources. She said that is the only way they could repair it. I was very upset. I thought it was completely unfair. There are multiple complaints online about the cad headlights doing the same thing as mine. I told them if I was killed in an auto accident because I couldn't see, I would make sure my son never had to work a day again in his life. It would be entirely their fault in my opinion. I had to drive about 60 miles to my home a few weeks ago after dark, and I was a nervous wreck. I live in a rural area, and there are so many animals, etc. That must be seen if they are on the side of the road, not to mention my own visibility of the entire road. When I put my high beams on, of course drivers coming the opposite direction put theirs on me. So we're both blind. It is a major safety issue and should not be overlooked by Cadillac or the NHTSA.

Like so many others my exterior headlights are so dim I feel it a danger to drive ar night or just dark places. I am reporting this to my state and if the manufacturer does not pay to fix this problem I am with the group who wants a class action suit. I warn every one I know not to purchase a Cadillac because they don't stand behind their product.

The low beam headlights will not even light up the road very well and causes a safety hazard. I searched the web to see if anyone else was having this problem and a lot of people are having the same problem due to moisture getting in the headlights. They are saying it's caused by a manufacturer error with 2010-2016 Cadillac stx�s.

Headlights, particularly low beams, have become very dim over time. Headlight covers are not clouded. Necessary to drive with high beams during nighttime hours.

Headlight so dim could not drive at night. Have tried replacing bulbs but not really helping. I feel this is a defect in the headlight and Cadillac should put out a recall. Doing research I have found many many complains about the same thing and even a class action suit.

The headlights in my 2014 Cadillac Srx are so dim it has become very dangerous to drive at night. I am not able to see something or someone on the side of the car nor 2 maybe 3 feet pass the front bumper of the car at night on the highway or streets. I'm driving truly on someone else's car lights against the road. Cadillac have provided a letter to customers to submit a claim to replace the headlights stating a small number of Srx models. . . Yea right dangerous is dangerous. . . Can replace lights due to moisture. . Etc. . Etc. . However, they are only providing a cap ($800 per headlight) of what they would pay. After taking it to a Cadillac dealer they are charging customers way over the cap and we have to pay for something that should have been recall status in the first place. My car is a 2014 with about 59500 miles now at the time of this complaint. After taking it to the dealer today 3 Mar 2020, I was told that the same model headlight would be install back into my vehicle meaning in about 2 years or less I would be place with the same problem and have to pay out of pocket again. I am not sure what vehicles you all are testing and saw that these Srxs headlight are meeting headlight safety standard. I recommend you reevaluate this situation and charge gm Cadillac to put a recall on all the vehicles they stated would have an issue with our headlights. P. S. The day I bought my 2014 Cadillac Srx on the drive home it got dark and my lights came on. I was in tallahassee in traffic so I thought it was just the street lights that were making them seem dim. As I continued home I was running the lights on high when I met a car I put them on low and it was like I had no lights at all. When I purchased the vehicle this was never brought up and of course it was test driven in the daylight hours. I purchased it on February 29, 2020, the carfax checked out great, without being aware that this was a problem and I really do not think the dealer should have sold the vehicle in this condition. Cadillac finally sent letters to owners in florida and the week following my purchase my mother received a letter regarding a class action suit on the headlights on her 2013 Cadillac Srx that was totalled during hurricane michael on October 10, 2018. I contacted our local dealer and was told I could have the headlights replaced at my cost. This is not fair that I have to pay for something that should have been a recall in the first place and during this time a lot of people do not have an extra $1700. 00 laying around because that was the quote that I received from the dealer. With all I have found in my research and even a class action suit Cadillac should be replacing the assembly. I even contacted the administrator with class action suit and was told that my VIN # was in the group that was notified earlier and that deadline had expired in June 2019 prior to my purchase but it is apparent the work was never done. This is my only vehicle and I can not afford to replace it. If I have to drive at night my only option is to use my high beams which is a danger to other vehicles on the road. I ask you to please look at this situation and force gm Cadillac to issue a recall on these vehicles because it should have been done a long time ago.

My headlights are extremely dim. I went and had new lights put in with little to no improvement. After doing my research, I noticed that this is a known issue for Cadillac Srx 2010-2015. I brought my car into Cadillac and they said it was $2,100 to fix it. It's almost as if there are no lights on with my new headlights in there. Cadillac should be replacing the assembly as this is a known issue and a huge safety concern. Oncoming traffic is blinding and I cannot see the lines. My only option is to turn on my brights which is unsafe for the oncoming traffic.

Condensation and water were leaking into the headlamp assembly. I brought my vehicle to a Cadillac service center for evaluation. They returned the vehicle with a quote for $2500 to replace the headlamp enclosures. However, if I cannot afford repairs and I choose to forgo replacement, the headlights will eventually short out. This issue is more than a cosmetic issue. The seals on the headlamp enclosure are defective and allow water to enter the headlights. The condensation dims the headlight quality at night, making night-driving very dangerous. Cadillac said the $2500 would only cover replacement with the same defective part, so I may need to have my car repaired again in the future. The headlights should have been recalled long ago. Nighttime driving is hazardous without fully functional headlights.

I purchased a 2014 Cadillac Srx and the headlights stopped working. We returned to the dealer with it and they said it was checked before we left with out. We researched on line and discovered a defective light design was the problem. We can not ever drive our car at night .

The headlights on my 2014 Cadillac Srx are not adequate to drive safely at night. I am a 32 year old male with good vision and I have an extremely hard time seeing the road at night. After searching for fixes, I found that this is a very common problem with 2010 - 2015 model Cadillac Srxs.
