Seats Problems of Cadillac SRX - part 1

I have been trying to enjoy this vehicle from the time it became part of my life. The first 6 months, I was unable to close the sunroof, because of that my passenger seat cracked since its been exposed to the sun for 5 years, the driver's side window could not roll down which we fixed; I never owned a vehicle where I could not access my trunk. The first 6 months of having this vehicle the lifgate became inoperable. The lift gate does not work. The sensors of the vehicle are useless, the car radioi does not work the cue sticks, which can be distracting and can cause an accident so I use the youtube on my phone for entertainment. The sensors led to the transmission deteriorating to the point of the transmission fluid burning faster and deteriorating the components of the transmission. This is going to cost me 6000. 00 these are known manufacture defects for the Srx 2014. Please help.

I started my car using the remote start. When I opened my car the driver side seat was smoking and a hole had been burned in the back. The inside of the hole was red and appeared to be light up like a hot coil. I turned my car off and tapped/blew on the area to put out the little fire.

A deer hit the driver side of my car. The air bag had a smell but did not deflate. The seatbelts kinda detached from the driver’s seat and both front seatbelts are locked very tight. This happened 1/3/25. About three months ago while driving, the driver seat went into the lowest level position. When I put it back where I could drive it, it did it again. I had to keep putting it in place till I got home. It hasn’t done that again yet. Please send me any recalls so I can get them fixed. Thank you.

My car was parked for 2hrs 30 min. And I came to my car to it being burnt from under the passenger seat. Door panel is damaged and window is shattered and burnt. Roof is burnt. I think it was due to the electrical wiring from under the passenger seat.

The contact’s customer owns a 2013 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while the valet driver was driving, the front driver’s side seat inadvertently retracted back along the track bracket without warning. As a result, the contact stated that the valet driver was trapped in the vehicle. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14v804000 (seats). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Vehicle fire & mold. My 2013 Cadillac Srx had water leaking in/draining incorrectly from the sunroof, which in return pooled water in the front and rear of my vehicle. This water caused my trunk to completely stop operating (water pooled at trunk latch/rusted), as well as water to saturate the electrical components near the front of my car and a fire to itnite while I was driving the vehicle! fire truck responded, pooled water found, mold also found because of previously unknown pooled water, and insurance totaled vehicle. So scary! so disapointed! this leaking water issue has been reported on many forums for the same Cadillac make and model and it threatened my life. The sun roof draining tubes must be recalled. I’m now out of a vehicle because of it and just grateful I was able to exit my vehicle as it filled with smoke.

I have been having problems with my headlights since the day it first rained and I purchased my vehicle. Now the lights have dimmed all the way down and flicker as I drive at night can't see anything. I have replaced numerous bulbs and fuses to no avail. The seats act weird when you set them for yourself or another driver. The wipers barley work its like driving trying to kill yourself or someone else.

While I'm driving my driver seat moves forward and my brake and gas pedal do as well. It happens no matter if I'm on a highway or street and when I'm driving straight not sure if it happens while turning. Doesn't matter what speed I'm going either. Haven't crashed. Nothing indicating something wrong on dash.

Head on collision at 40 mph on a city street. Air bags did not deploy and seat moved forward. Resulting in er visit and head laceration and loss of consciousness.

Bought my Cadillac 2015 Srx last April 2019, is has been thru one winter. Just a few months back noticed a burn in the seat back down at the bend while cleaning the car. Took my car to quantrell of lexington, ky dealer and they will not cover the replacement and stated they called the manufacturer and they will not cover the replacement. I was told it was a seat warmer malfunction. It is a miracle that my car did not catch on fire. The cts models were recalled for this very reason, but the will not recall the Srx's. I have seen many complaints online for the Srx. I should not have to pay to replace my seat and seat warmer when this is a vehicle safety issue.

Headlights are so dim until high beams have to be use in order to see. Low beam appears like you don't have any lights on or maybe park lights. Unsafe because other vehicles can't see you with low beam on and you can't see. Driver seat motor went out making it complicated to reach the excelerator and brake. On the lumbar part works. All of this is while driving the vehicle.

While l was crossing the railroad tracks, the driver seat came out of alignment and jolted me forwards, thankfully l had my seat belt on. This happened right by the waffle house on chester road adjacent to bojangles and food lion 1/10/2020. I don't feel safe driving while the seat moves with every turn or bump l drive over on the road. Please advise.

The contact noticed smoke (flames) coming from her seat then she looked down jumped up because her paints were burning. The contact sustained burns to her(glutes). The contact stated the vehicle was towed by triple-a to a dealer ( michael Cadillac 5787 n blackstone Ave, fresno, CA 93710 (559) 431-6008) where at this moment is begin diagnosed. Medical attention was not seek yet. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000. Ck.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while driving at night, her headlights were dim while in use. The contact took the vehicle to penske Cadillac of south bay service(18600 hawthorne blvd suite #101, torrance, CA 90504) where she was informed that moisture had been entering the headlights which had caused them to dim. The contact then received a notice from Cadillac in regards to her headlights that stated that they are aware of the issue with her vehicle's headlights. The letter gave the contact instructions on how she can received a reimbursement for the headlights if she repaired them out of pocket. The contact then took the vehicle back to the dealer where she had her headlights repaired out of pocket. The contact also had her driver seat repaired out of pocket due to the seat moving back in forth while in motion. The manufacturer was then notified of the repair that was made to her headlights. The manufacturer then informed her that her vehicle was not under recall and that she was not entitled to a reimbursement. Upon investigation, the contact also discovered NHTSA campaign number: 14v447000(seats) which she linked to her front seat failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was 66,878. Jo.

The drive shaft needed to be replaced at 65,000 miles. The headlights look like they are not on at night when you are driving. There have been 2 class action lawsuits won in California and florida for these defective headlights. I don't know why they would not include all the cars that had these headlights because they are all defective. If I would have known this I would not have bought the car. I have owned it 4 months and the touch screen cracked, driver assist seat control stopped working, the drive shaft needed to be replaced and the headlights do not look like they are on at night. I feel like I have to drive with my high beams just to see adequately and safely.

Brakes are constantly locking up as I drive down the highway. The lights are defected. I've replaced the bulbs numerous times but you still can't see how to drive at night time. Also, something is wrong with the rear suspension.

Tl - the contact owns a 2013 Cadillac frx. The contact stated that when she turned her seat warmer on the seat caught fire. The contact's husband extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed and the contact sustained a burn on the left side of her back, but no medical attention was required. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,232. Jc.

The heated seat caught on fire and burned a hole through the leather seat and had to put water on it to get it out. It was on the lower right side of the back while I was sitting in it in a parking lot and lucky I was not driving or it may have caused an accident as it was burning a hole through my coat as well.

I was in the parking lot of a public gym at approximately 6:00am, Tuesday, November 20th, 2018. I started my car and turned on my seat warmer as I was leaving the gym. Within 30-45 seconds, I felt a hot spot burning my lower back area. I immediately turned off the seat warmer, and I started to smell burnt rubber. The burned area of about the size of a dime was burned into the lower portion of the driver's seat. This caused two cigarette sized holes to burn into my jacket that I was wearing as well. Cadillac was contacted (case #9-4922924236) and they were not forthcoming in informing me that they have had previous problems with this issue. This could have been a catastrophic event if I had not been there to turn off the seat warmer. After searching the internet, this has happened to multiple other Cadillac Srx 2013 owners. There needs to be a recall for this safety issue.

Toe link torqued incorrectly suspension in rear is affected.

The drivers seat moves on it's own in park and in drive. At one point I had to remove my seatbelt and sit on edge of seat to reach the pedals on the highway in heavy traffic.

The seat warmer in my vehicle malfunctioned and caused a fire in my driver's seat. I was not driving my vehicle at the time. I used the auto start feature to turn on the car so I could clear the snow from my car. When I got in my vehicle, I sat down and could smell something burning. It took me a minute to realize that it was my seat that was on fire. I was able to put the fire out by patting the flames with my gloved hands before the fire got out of control. I notified my local Cadillac dealership as well as the general motors corporate office about this issue. General motors has concluded that they will not accept any responsibility for the damages nor will they issue a recall or warning to other consumers of this defect. Since this happened to me I have found that there are other victims of the same issue. In indiana, another family had the same thing happen to them and like me Cadillac general motors is not taking any accountability. I believe that consumers are at risk and someone needs to ensure that they are made aware of this risk and should Cadillac accountable for allowing these tragic situations to continue to occur. I was fortunate that I was not injured. Someone else may not be so lucky.

On Nov 1st 2015 returning from north carolina to florida my heated seat overheated causing 2nd degree burns. The dealership denies any problems even after I showed them photo of the injury.

To my knowledge recall for seats out board correction not performed before taking delivery on 12/26/2014. I'm making an appt. As of today 1/2/2015. I'm hearing a whistling / howling like noise when driving between 25 to 35 mph. Gets loader when accelerating and seems to be more prevalent when starting and cold. The sound causes me to wonder if its related to something more serious (that could) fail causing lost of control. It appears to be coming from beneath the rear of vehicle.

Problems with completion/documentation of two recalls: my dealer (hendrix Cadillac, durham nc) claimed today, 14 Nov 2014, that they had already resolved NHTSA recall 14v571000 (gm 14457) on the rear suspension of my car on 02 oct 2014. However, I only got the recall notice in early November, when gm's letter said that parts wouldn't be available until at least 10 Nov 2014. (report date is late sept 2014. ) on 02 oct 2014, the dealer had told me they had that day resolved NHTSA 14v447000 (gm 14271) on the front seat adjusters of my car. Today the dealer tells me that that recall is still pending for lack of solution, even though the report date was July 2014. Have they mixed up the two recalls? I am concerned that my car is not safe.

I just brought this SUV sept. 2014. Last week I was going around a curve. The rear end swerved and the tires rolled over the curve. The air bags deployed and the car stopped, the car was towed to a Cadillac dealer. ( weeks before I found out about the recall on the air bags, seat, suspension and seat belt. ) so, when I told the adjustor about the recall he just brushed it off and said," it's not the recall. ". I don't think the adjustor worked for an outside company. I need to get my car independently checked so I can find out if it was the recall items. How could my air bags deploy from going over the curve? the car has no damage. . . None! I think the dealer does not want to fix the recalled items or they fixed them wrong. Because my driver seat was making some crazy sounds the weeks before the airs bags came out. Plus, I told the dealer and he said all the work was done to the car. I think their lying. . . . Is there a government place I can have the car checked or can you send someone? can you please help me? thank you for your time.

We purchased a set of four tires from the same company on the same day they were put on. The manufacturer is general, p255/60r17 which are the rear tires for a Cadillac Srx 2004. Both tires were the same, one currently has the belts showing on the right rear tire, the other is fine. The people who sold them to us said the warranty is not valid because they weren't rotated. They said six months ago when we wanted them rotated, that they couldn't do that, because of the different sizes, we asked for them to be rotated from side to side, they wanted to charge for this, they no longer sell this brand of tire. The tires only have 23,000 miles on them when we took the car in this past Monday oct. 11, 2010. They said this is normal wear for the right rear tire. It is abnormal to me because of the uneven wear. . . . . What are we to do?.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that they were unable to modify the seat due to the air bag being aligned with the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,502. Contact has to use pillow to get hight enough to see. F the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. I tried to explain this to local dealer. They told me there is no recall on the seat. They fixed it for a price on one occasion, but it broke again. I think the other problem with the suspension has been fixed. But my drivers seat in in really bad shape, I had an accident in it. I believe this caused the accident because the seat is really in bad shape. I lean to left when I am driving.

: the contact stated the contour of the seats were uncomfortable which created a problem for the contact medically; a pinch nerve. To drive the vehicle the contact had to seat very close to the steering wheel. The dealer and manufacturer were contacted who confirmed that there had been many complaints but there was no recall. The dealer determined the mechanicism at the bottom of the seat caused the problem. A mechanic with the dealership mentioned that the problem may be with the lumbar support.
