car   Accelerator Pedal problem of Ford Escape

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Ford Escape. Fall of 2011, I noticed that my gas pedal was not always responsive. Coming off a stop or low speeds, the gas pedal would not respond until after I had pumped it and pressed it nearly to the floor, then my Escape would take off, squealing tires and all. I noticed it a couple times on the highway as well, slowing for a curve and then unable to promptly accelerate coming out of the curve. Then one day I was on the highway and the gas pedal was completely unresponsive, and my car just completely shut off. This was really bothering me because there were multiple times I felt like I was going to get hit when I couldn't accelerate out of an intersection. I took the vehicle back to hastings Ford, and after multiple appointments and keeping my vehicle for several days, they were unable to confirm or repair anything. I kept driving it for a while, the same issues still happening, and then after the second time the car shut off on the highway, and after consulting a relative who is a former Ford mechanic, I brought it to another dealership. They kept the car the max number of days they were allowed to without repairing anything, and found on the last day that it was a faulty throttle body. The replaced the throttle body but the issue still lingers. And I also feel a short vibration in the pedal nearly every time I accelerate from a slow or stop. I still do not feel the issue is fully resolved. I still consider my throttle body to be defective. This problem occurred on 08/31/11.

car   Accelerator Pedal problem of Volkswagen Touareg

The car involved was a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is WVGCM67L14_. 2004 vw Touareg v8. These vehicles exhibits frequent but inconsistent delay in throttle response. This issue arises most often in heavy traffic when the driver comes to a rolling stop. When shifting inputs from the brake to the throttle the vehicle will frequently exhibit a 1-2 second delay before there is any response from the engine. This has two dangerous consequences. First, the driver may increase the throttle pressure waiting for a response, then getting more then expected acceleration when the engine finally responds. Second, the driver could be left sitting in an oncoming lane waiting for the engine to respond and take the vehicle safely across the intersection. I have reported this to two different vw dealers, one of which turned the complaint to vw. There has been no action taken, or further response from vw. The failure date was 01/01/2004.

car   Accelerator Pedal problem of Volkswagen Touareg

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. When accelerating from a very slow speed or a "rolling" stop, the car hesitates or stalls before accelerating, then lurches forward. This problem occurs randomly, but consistently. When driving up a hill to a stop, the vehicle regularly jumps forward at the last downshift in the stopping process. This is dangerous and threatens my safety, those around me in traffic, my passengers, and other potential drivers of my vehicle. I've been told by Volkswagen of America & my dealer that this is the way this SUV is designed to perform. The fact that the "hesitations/stalls" occur at random only furthers my point that this is clearly a defect and not "just the way this model drives" and "you just have to get used to it" as I was told by the service manager at martens vw. It was Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 when this accelerator pedal issue happened.

car   Accelerator Pedal problem of Volvo XC90

On August, 26, 2004 there was a major malfunction in our Volvo Xc90 (2004). While driving with 2 small children in car seats and 2 adults on a major highway; suddendly, there was no acceleration in the gas pedal and the stearing wheel did not function. We managed to slowly move to the side of the road from what momentum was left in the car, and avoid an accident. We were obviously very shaken up, and find this car completely unsafe. It has been 3 weeks now getting the run around with the cherry hill, new jersey Volvo dealer. They said "there's nothing wrong with the car". The car is unsafe for our family, and presents a danger for others on the road. We are afraid it will stop dead again on a major highway with death or injuries occuring to either ourselves or others. The dealer asked us what we wanted "we finally said, (after they said they'd get us a new SUV and did not) that we want our money back ($3,000 deposit) and we don't want this car they sold us. Today, they made us take this car back and they are refusing our request to refund our money. Also, the car was towed on a flat bed truck in to the dealer on July 13th, 2004 as the car did not start. . "relays were loose in the icm and cem etc. ," [we have the service order] on this day, the message on the car said something to the effect "urgent malfunction in SUV air bags. . . " and we unloaded the family and it was towed to the Volvo dealership. And the car's 2 side mirrors work one day and not the next. Tomorrow I take matthew to his first day at pre-school, and I'm half thinking what if something happens to the car when we're driving. It's amazing to me that Volvo can let me leave their parking lot with this car this evening, and the aren't taking safety seriously at all. So, at 11:00 pm I am up letting the NHTSA know what's going on. We are willing to help in anyway we can. Sincerely, the lawrence family.
