car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Chrysler Pacifica

The car involved is a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I had the brakes repaired in 2012; the next month the abs light came on and the sensor was replaced. Ten months later, the sensor light came on again. I was told it was insignificant, that the brakes are fine. In the fall of 2013, I had the car towed to a shop because it tried to accelerate while I was pressing the brakes. I spent over $800. 00 having a bunch of codes cleared with the transmission and other things. The engine light was off for a few days but came back on. There was an error that read gas cap. I replaced the gas cap but the engine light remains on. In March 2014 the brake light came on, I was told that I needed to replace the calibers but later was told that I didn't. I had someone else to check and they said that I needed new front brakes. I had those replaced. On 4/7/2014, I was leaving the parking garage at the doctor's office and the gas pedal was stuck. Lucky for me it was on a downhill slope and I was able to stop at the stop sign and put the car in park and press the accelerator to unstick it. Today, April 13, 2014 the brake light is back on and there is a noise in the frontend. I love my car but it just does not feel safe to drive. This accelerator stuck problem happened on March 13, 2014.

I had to push as hard as I could on the brakes to get the vehicle to slow down. This incident went on for at least three miles until the accelerator popped back to it's original setting. The same thing has happened in three separate incidents since. It was Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 when this accelerator stuck issue happened.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Ford Escape

The car involved was a 2006 Ford Escape. Started to work one morning, have a manual trans after driving about 13 miles went to shift into 4th the accelerator would not move. After several attempts it finally broke free and I continued to work w/o incident. Since then it happens on a weekly basis different times of the day and diff temps no rhyme or reason. Researched and found many other with the same problem. This morning was different. I was only 4 miles from home and the accelerator was stuck again. I was only in 2nd gear, I pushed on the accelerator hard it broke loose but this time it got stuck while almost to the floor and the car took off spinning tires. There was not much I could do but put the clutch in shift to neutral. When I finally stopped the accelerator was stuck again so that I could not accelerate and now my clutch was gone. It is now not drivable. So very very dangerous. Does there need to be a fatality for something to be done?. This issue happened on 08/07/2013.

Last week on 1/9/14, I was accelerating to get on the interstate at full throttle. The accelerator stuck down at full throttle after I lightened peddle pressure to slow down. At first I hit the brakes but couldn't slow the vehicle. I then turned the ignition key to disengage the ignition. The truck began to slow. I turned the ignition back on and the truck was still at full throttle and I nearly rear ended the vehicle in front of me. I then pulled the floor mat back with my heel and the accelerator released. This issue happened on 01/09/2014.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of GMC Acadia

The car involved is a 2011 GMC Acadia. Driving 40mph, accelerated into the left lane to pass. Removing my foot from the accelerator, my vehicle continued to accelerate with the pedal moving to the floor. After repeatedly stomping the brake and depressing the "cancel cruise" control button, I was able to regain control of the vehicle before hitting the vehicle ahead of me. This happened about 3. 5 hours into a 9 hour trip, so the vehicle was warm. I was able to repeat the condition 4 times. Twice with the cruise on but disengaged and twice with the cruise turned off. I discovered that stomping the brakes or depressing the cancel cruise button cleared the condition. After a couple of stops, condition occurred a 6th time as I attempted to pass a vehicle going 50mph. As I depressed the accelerator, the symptom recurred with my vehicle accelerating to 80 mph before continually depressing the "cancel cruise" button released the stuck accelerator. On 3 June, took the vehicle to the dealer service department. Neither dealer tech nor I could reproduce the problem. . Thinking vehicle temp coud be the difference, I left the vehicle with the technician. He drove it for 3 hours and approximately 150 miles and could not replicate the problem. Dealer opened gm technical assistance case (71-1189923303) and allegedly gm has no record of similar problems. The dealer had no recourse but to return the vehicle to me. I called gm customer assistance and registered my concern. Several days later, gm customer assistance called saying that gm had no record of similar incidences but had logged another vehicle service request (71-1191383116). I questioned this revelation as I had found several documented similar cases with Acadias on edmunds. Com. My wife normally drives this vehicle. I am unsure how she would have reacted had this happened with her driving. It is definitely a major safety concern. This accelerator stuck issue occurred Sun., Jun. 2, 2013.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Honda CR-V

There was crash involved with this Honda Cr-v. My wife was accelerating her 2003 Honda Cr-v onto the massachusetts turnpike from the on-ramp, but the car continued to accelerate well above normal highway speed. The brake only slowed it partially, so she tried tapping the accelerator which released. Alarmed by this she got it serviced where mechanic blamed the problem on buildup of deposits on the throttle plate, which they cleaned, and did other preventive maintenance. Several weeks later I was leaving the supermarket on an very cold day of about 10f. I started the car in park, at which point the throttle went to maximum by itself, at very high revs. Fortunately it was still in park. I tried all kinds of tapping on and around the accelerator. I inspected the accelerator area for a stuck floor mat or a foreign object, but found nothing. I turned the car off, but when I turned it on, it continued to rev as if floored. The second time I turned it off and on, it returned to normal operation. It drove normally for the next few weeks. Finally, my wife was driving on a busy divided highway with many businesses when the accelerator stuck open again. The car sped up to dangerous speed, and stomping on the brake only partly slowed it. She shifted into low gear which actually made it speed up. She was approaching a traffic light with stopped cars. Not wanting to hit a column of stopped cars, she steered into a thick snowbank by the side of the road, hoping to stop it non-destructively. But the Honda did not stop until it hit a telephone pole very hard, with airbag deployment and total vehicle loss. She escaped with only minor bruises. It was 12/04/2013 when this accelerator stuck issue happened.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Hyundai Elantra

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. The gas pedal got "stuck" in the down position while driving, resulting in a problem being able to stop the vehicle. I was going approximately 45-50 mph, passing/merging/accelerating in order to get onto an onramp which curved slightly to go into another main highway. When I pressed on the brakes to slow down a bit for the ramp, nothing happened. My car continued to go at the same speed. I continued to brake, and the car would not slow down. I slid my foot over the gas pedal and could tell it was still completely "down" and making the car accelerate at full capacity. I then glanced down to confirm that the pedal was stuck in the downward position. There was nothing under the pedal, the floor mat was not stuck underneath, nor was it anywhere near where the pedal was pressed down. I clicked my hazards on during the process because since it was an onramp, there was nowhere to pull over. As I continuously pressed on the brakes, the car only slowed down approximately 3-5 mph total, because the gas pedal was stuck all the way down, therefore the brakes were trying to work against the full power of the acceleration. Once the passenger realized what was happening, he helped by putting the car in neutral. This helped slow the car, and I then pulled the emergency brake. The car came to a stop in the middle of a main highway onramp. The cars behind me were able to react quick enough to go around and not hit the car. I tried to replicate the problem in order to help diagnose this issue and have more information to tell Hyundai. Once on a straightaway without other cars nearby, I pressed the gas pedal all the way down, and sure enough I was able to recreate the issue and the pedal got stuck again. Upon trying to recreate it a 3rd time, it did not get stuck and seemed to be working properly. But it did get stuck 2 out of the 3 times. It was terrifying to not be able to stop. This accelerator stuck problem happened on Mar. 29, 2014.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Kia Motor Forte

The vehicle is a 2010 Kia Motor Forte sedan. I just bought a kia Forte 5 speed manual transmission. So far when the car had 425 miles on it, the gas pedal has acted like it was depressed--the engine revved up very high, but my foot was not on the pedal. My daughter was also driving and it also happened to her, it felt as if the gas pedal was stuck. I checked to see if there was anything covering the pedal---maybe the rug or something but there was nothing there. I took it back to the dealer and they found nothing wrong with the computer diagnostics they ran and sent me home. The car has about 800 miles on it now and I haven't experienced any other such problems, yet. I am an experienced manual transmission driver and I do not accept that this was driver error. The times this happened to me my right foot was completely off the gas pedal and my left foot was depressing the clutch fully. The failure date was Sat., May. 15, 2010.

The dash board indicator lights lit up. All of them!! when I finally looked down the accelerator pedal was stuck. I grabbed it with both hands while doing over 100 mph and heard a pop! then the vehicle slowed but still not nearly safe enough. I finally managed to down shift the car at that point. And then jammed her into park from about 30 mph. There was something seriously wrong with this car. It was not floor mats that got that pedal stuck! I saw that pedal! you need to look into this further. Someone is going to get killed! I will bet they already have. I had to trade my car in because Lexus would not even check the computer for fear they would be validating my complaint. Now I get a letter stating they are changing the accelerator pedal? there is something more to this and I think you should be looking further. That is why I am filing my complaint now. car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Lincoln MKZ

The vehicle is a 2010 Lincoln Mkz. There was crash involved with this Lincoln Mkz. Backed crookedly into parking slot in public parking lot. Tried to straighten car in slot by slowly moving forward. Car on its own lurched ahead at high rate of speed; brakes had little effect and I struck a parked car. Somehow shifted into reverse and car on its own gained ferocious speed traveling backwards. This forward, then backward pattern continued on its own while I struggled to control the steering wheel. In reverse, car continued gaining speed beyond my control, wheeling about the parking lot and striking 3 or 4 additional autos. During all this time the car shot mostly backward at increasingly faster speeds in wide arcs, in pinball fashion. Eventually the repeated hammering by my car against other parked vehicles slowed my car enough that I could brake finally, and turned off the engine. Altogether my auto had struck and seriously damaged 6 other vehicles. Accelerator seemed stuck during the event, and brakes had no effect until car's speed was sufficiently slowed--before operating. Damage to my auto, particularly the entire front end--grill and front fenders--was extensive. The failure date was Saturday, May. 12, 2012.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Mazda Tribute

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Mazda Tribute. For the past year, the vehicle's accelerator/gas pedal has at times felt "stuck" so that the driver must press down harder than normal to accelerate. Originally the driver was under the impression that the mat was obstructing the gas pedal's ability to be depressed. Over time however, the vehicle has shown an increased difficulty in the gas pedal being depressed. Most recently, on January 23, 2014, the vehicle was idling while in traffic. When the driver attempted to press down on the accelerator, the gas pedal did not move. The driver was forced to press hard on the accelerator, and when doing so, the accelerator became "stuck" and quickly jolted the vehicle forward. The driver had to immediately press down on the brake to avoid collision with the vehicle in front. The speed at the time was less than 15 miles per hour and the driver was able to come to a stop avoiding collision. Since the incident on January 23, the vehicle's gas pedal has increasingly shown more "sticking" and has become very hard to accelerate without applying a great amount of pressure down on the pedal. This causes concern as the vehicle quickly accelerates in a jump-like manner rather than slowly accelerating to a comfortable driving speed. The 2006 Mazda Tribute is a 4 cylinder and the manufacturer has not issued a recall at this time. This issue happened on Tue., Jan. 1, 2013.

When I finally manage to stop the car by putting the car in neutral and hitting my breaks, I then put the car in park. The car still continues to accelerates on its own. car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Saturn Ion. The gas pedal gets stuck when pressed more than roughly 50% of throttle (~I. E. Accelerating to merge or pass another vehicle). While driving on the highway, when I released the gas pedal, I noticed the car did not slow down. I used the brake and still could not slow the car down. Then I proceeded to reach with my hand to pull up the gas pedal, but I could not. At this point, facing an imminent crash incident, I quickly turned on my hazard lights, shifted the car into neutral, and let the car roll to a stop. I then proceeded to attempt to pull the gas pedal up by hand and it did not work. Rpms were still running high until finally after waiting about 30 seconds, I heard a 'pop' and the gas pedal came out. I was then able to drive normally, as long as I don't press the pedal down too far. This issue happened on Monday, February 10, 2014.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle is a 2003 Saturn Ion. When accelerating to 35 mph, my accelerator got stuck and continued to accelerate faster. I was able to apply just enough brake pressure to barely make it safely into an empty parking lot where I was able to put my car into park and then shut off my car immediately. I then tried restarting my car and immediately it started revving and speeding forward. I then shut off my car for good and called aaa. While I was on the phone, approximately ten minutes after shutting off my car, I could hear the accelerator release. There was no mat in the way but it was something internal in the car making the accelerate stick. Thank goodness I was able to make that turn into that parking lot when I did and there were no other cars coming the other way before I made that turn. This accelerator stuck problem happened on 01/18/2012.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Volkswagen Passat

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Volkswagen Passat. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WVWAD63B65_. I was turning onto a local busy street when my accelerator stuck to the floor and quickly shot up near 50mph. I had to quickly weave through traffic to not hit anyone while it stayed in a high speed. When I'd press the brakes, the car would slow down but still be going. When I let off the brake pedal, it quickly shot back up to 50mph. I was lucky to be able to turn onto a side street maybe 1 minute later and avoided hitting anyone else. I am beyond surprised that I was able to avoid hitting anyone with the amount of traffic. The pedal only came up when I put my foot under it (going slower/braking on the side street). It was normal after that. Extremely scary experience with an otherwise flawless vehicle that I have owned for going on 4 years. It was Tuesday, February 14, 2012 when this accelerator stuck issue happened.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Volvo S70

The vehicle had a crash. On September 9, 2007 the driver was driving her 1999 Volvo S70 south on route 15 in pennsylvania. I was in the front passenger seat. The driver turned right into a short access drive to a restaurant. The driver then turned right into the parking lot, slowed further, driving about 40 feet, and turned left into a parking space directly perpendicular to the store?s front entrance. She had come to a slow and almost complete stop when the car suddenly and uncontrollably lurched forward, over the parking block. The car then lurched forward further, on the parking lot surface, up and over the parking lot curb to the store level and crashed into the store?s vestibule. The car hit a support beam, and badly damaged the store?s entrance. The driver put the car in reverse. It lurched uncontrollably backward at a fast rate of speed through the parking lot and up and over a concrete apron directly behind her parking space. It then swerved wildly in reverse along and against the parking lot curb that paralleled route 15. The car violently hit a perpendicular curb, swerved and stopped as the front wheel on the passenger?s side crashed into the curb. The impact broke the right front wheel from its axle. We removed our seat belts and immediately got out of the car. The airbags never deployed. The driver and I both had been shaken badly in the interior of the car as it hit the parking blocks, concrete apron, and curbs. This lunging incident seems to have been caused by the recognized failure of the electronic throttle module of the car. Witnesses said that the car was traveling uncontrollably at about 40 miles per hour through the parking lot as though the car?s accelerator were stuck. Pennsylvania state police made an incident report. Volvo inspected the car claiming nothing mechanical caused the incident. It was Sunday, Sep. 9, 2007 when this accelerator stuck issue happened.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Audi A6

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Audi A6. I was driving at about 65 mph. I went to pass another car in a passing zone so I accelerated full throttle. The gas pedal stuck and the car continued to accelerate. I braked and maneuvered the car to the side of the road and turned it off. After a while it released. I started the car again and continued home, not pushing the pedal down any farther than necessary. I will take it in to be fixed. There was nothing obscuring the petal and the floor mat was clicked into place. I found no evidence of a recall, but many Audi owners have reported similar experiences, so I am not sure why this isn't a recall issue. This problem occurred on Aug. 24, 2013.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of BMW 528

The car was a 1999 BMW 528i. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is WBADM6340X_. This is the 2nd incident. The first time was was about 6 months ago. The car had unexpected acceleration (run-away vehicle). The first time this happened my entire family was in car as I merged onto highway. No accident occurred, but a less experienced driver would have been killed. This time, few days ago, exactly the same thing happened, but I reacted more quickly and it was on a straight away, so the situation was not as desperate. The dealer said the accelerator pedal was dislodged, which was precisely what occured the first time. They repaired it, as far as I know, but the possibility of an accelerator pedal becoming loose causing accelerator to get stuck is a terrible, and possible life-threatening hazard. I hope this will not happen again. I wrote a letter to the ceo of BMW and have not yet received a response. The failure date was August 12, 2002.

car   Accelerator Stuck problem of Cadillac STS

The car had a crash. I was driving my 2005 Cadillac Sts doing about 45 miles and all of a sudden my car lost control. I put on brakes and my car would not stop. I tried steering to the left to avoid trees and my car would not turn it appeared that my accelerator was stuck and my steering wheel would not turn. My car hit three trees and when it struck the third tree I kept applying the brakes it still wouldn't stop then I turned my car off and that's the only way I got it to stop. My back wheel on the passenger side came off and my car was totaled. My air bag did not deploy. I spoke with gmac claims representative and he stated that it was normal for the air bag not to deploy. He also, stated that the air bag indicated that I had applied the accelerator when I know that I did not. I am terrified from this accident and this is the first accident I have ever had and I do not drink or take drugs. I asked the representative did the black box indicate that I had to turn the car off to stop it and representative stated no, then I asked him to tell me how the car stopped. If I had not turned the car off it would not have stopped and I would not be here today. Gmac denied my claim and stated that it was my fault. This issue happened on Thu., Nov. 28, 2013.

The VIN of the problem Xk is SAJWA43B57_. My Jaguar Xk 2007's accelerator pedal got stuck in the on position. I was traveling at approximately 10-20 miles on hour when I punched the gas pedal to about 60 miles an hour. When I released the gas pedal the acceleration continued. I then applied the brake and the car continued to accelerate. I then pushed the brake to the floor and shifted into sports mode and downshifted. At some point the accelerator must of disengaged as I was able to stop at the approaching intersection. Thank god, no one was hurt and I did not have to crash the car to stop. I subsequently had the car towed to the dealership where I bought the car only 5 weeks ago. They have had the car now for 3 days and have not given me any information about why this occurred.
