car   Axle Shaft problem of Chevrolet Cruze

The car involved was a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. Stepped on gas pedal to accelerate, heard clicking and grinding noise, engine rived up and no forward movement. Stopped vehicle, put it in park, vehicle still moved, had to apply emergency brake to secure vehicle. Front half axle shaft is broken. Cruze is at the dealership I purchased it from. As of today, this will be going on the fourth week without my own vehicle. Gm customer service cannot help me, they keep telling me to talk to the dealership. The dealership can not get any time frame on repairs and the local gm rep will not contact me . I never did get a recall notice. It seems like no one at gm wants to make a decision on how to handle this situation. I have requested to start a by back on the vehicle because I have lost faith in this vehicle and gm products. As of today 5/13/2014 I have had no help in resolving this situation. This axle shaft issue occurred Apr. 20, 2014.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The car involved is a 2006 Chrysler town and country. I own a 2006 town & county chrsyler van, it is fine until my husband drives it. Then it sounds like in the universal joint/drive train/sounds like it clunks and falls into place when taking off or stopping. I took it for my normal oil change and ask them why it did that. The shop manager said that my van's has a memory of my driving and when someone else drives it, it needed to be put on a machine to clear, that was all. It drives without that sound now. I'm not a hard stopper or fast starter. Does my husbands driving cause it to do that, he stops harder and takes off faster than I do?. It was June 19, 2007 when this axle shaft issue happened.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Dodge Stratus

The vehicle had a crash. I purchased a 200 Dodge Stratus ES in Jan 2001 from a Toyota of new orleans dealer. After purchase, I started having recurring problem with the vehicle. Brakes, heating system replaced, brake drums. At this moment something called sway link bars have gone bad on the car. I had a accident in April 2002 but according to the Dodge dealer in gretna louisiana the accident had nothing to do with the problem I've had or having with the car. I notified the Chrysler company of my problem and was told that this car was not on the recall list. It should be. I'm having continuous problem with the brakes as swell. This does not make sense being that the vehicle is of a new model. The failure date was Apr. 3, 2002.

car   Axle Shaft problem of GMC Suburban

The vehicle involved is a 1999 GMC Suburban. The driver's side front axle shaft seal on the differential leaks fluid, which runs onto the hot exhaust pipe which produces a smell and a possible fire hazard I bought this 1999 GMC Suburban vehicle used at crown motors in charlevoix michigan on 02/02/01, with 21904 miles on it. About 6 months after I bought the Suburban I started smelling a burnt oil odor when I would get out of the vehicle after driving the vehicle. I couldn't figure out what the odor was. About a year ago I had my Suburban serviced and was told that the front drivers side differential seal was leaking. This was told to me as a quite common problem with this type vehicle. I went to crown motors and told them about the problem. I was referred to the service manager who said that he would not do anything about the problem because the vehicle had almost 70,000 miles on it. This is my third GMC Suburban and I have always been satisfied with the way that they last. I believe that if GMC has a problem and possible fire hazard with these newer vehicles that they should have a recall on them and get the problem fixed before a fire starts and some innocent person gets trapped and killed by their problem. I am not sure of the date that I contacted the service manager at crown motors or the exact date that the leak was found but I am using today as the incident date. Thank you. Hope you can do something before some gets killed or injured by a fire. This axle shaft issue occurred June 12, 2003.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Hyundai Sonata

This complaint applies to a 2007 Hyundai Sonata limited (no option for 2007 was available in drop down menu) (issue 1) at or around the initial few days after taking delivery I began to notice abrupt vibration and shaking coming from the steering wheel; substantial enough to feel in the seat. Vehicle was taken back to dealership on 3 separate occasions to remedy the problem but they reported that they were unable to duplicate the problem and reported the vehicle to be in manufacturer specification. Nonetheless, dealer attempted wheel balance and radial force balance as a "good will gesture. " problem is now more articulated and the issue remains unresolved. (issue 2) engine emits a rattle noise similar to lifter clatter upon start and continues throughout operation; particularly in colder weather. Timing chain tensioner was replaced and one noise was resolved but the continual nature of the lifter clatter remains. Dealership and Hyundai representative reported that they were unable to duplicate the problem and the issue remains unresolved. (issue 3) fuel sloshing coming from the fuel tank. Manufacturer and dealer claims this to be normal and not a safety risk. Sound is more pronounced at or around 3/4 tank. Brought this to the attention of the dealer and the manufacturer directly and remains unresolved. This problem occurred on Sat., Nov. 25, 2006.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Jeep Wrangler

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. There was crash involved with this problem. I driving my Jeep and was hit on the drivers side by a mercedes that was moving 35mph. I watch the whole scene coming through my front soft top glass window. My face hit the soft top window and broke my nose pretty bad according to dr. Charles shaffer (my surgieon). By the way the soft top and upper door halfs were the factory equipped "willy's edition" model specific which are supplied to dailmer Chrysler by hertz. Blood was everywhere and took 3 hours to completely stop the bleeding. I was wearing my seat belt by the way. I had to have surgery to my nose and several follow up sessions. I feel very lucky that it was a mercedes that hit me because they are able to crush very well. His vehicle was totaled and had neck pain and I drove home with a broke nose, bent rear axle shaft (bend was outside of the axle bearing, which makes one of my rear brakes useless), damaged factory rocker panel (willy's edition model specific), damaged body, rear fender flare, I also had to straighten and reweld the body mount that tore off the frame( there are 3 body mounting points that are clearly visible between the 2 drivers side wheels, the mount closest to the rear tire was torn off the frame) please contact me if you would like to ask me more questions at (704) 506-4592. This axle shaft problem happened on Thu., Dec. 11, 2003.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Jeep Wrangler

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Jeep Wrangler is 1J4FA69S23_. According to internal sales brochures and advertisements the 2003 Jeep Wrangler rubicon is supposed to be the most capable off road Jeep ever. My Jeep has been nothing but problems, which consists of 2 broken axles, faulty brakes, faulty parking brake, faulty u-joint clips, faulty wheel bearing. After paying the dealer to replace parts that should have been covered under warranty, then realizing that they failed to replace another failed part, called to ask about a workaround until the needed part came in. The advice given was to remove the broken axle shaft and drive without it. This caused brake and wheel bearing failure. An attempt to get the dealer to take responsibility for the repair cost took some time to get resolved. Finally, they fixed the problems and voided the manufacture's warranty. Reason for voiding the warranty was misuse/abuse because the vehicle had been used off-road and had mud on the under carriage. This is unacceptable because you cannot market a vehicle as off-road and then void the warranty if it is used in this manner. The vehicle was never submerged, or in mud/water deeper then the height of the bottom of the front bumper. Furthermore, Jeep claims I am a member of a 4wd club that I have no affiliation with and claims a witness saw the vehicle under water. Both not true. Asking for help from the dot to make Jeep stand by it's warranty, or have them not market the vehicle as off-road since if using it off road voids the warranty then this is false advertising. This problem occurred on 04/12/2003.

car   Axle Shaft problem of Land Rover Range Rover

The vehicle was a 2003 Land Rover Range Rover. Bearing failure in front differential: no event leading up to the failure. As I was emerging from the Lincoln tunnel in nyc with 4 lanes of traffic on either side, with out any warning my car would not move forward and if I pressed on the gas I heard a very loud grinding noise. I was lucky as I was not going very fast and was able to immediately pull over to the side. If I was on the highway there is a high probability that there could have been a dangerous if not fatal accident. Car had to be towed. Range rover mount kisco fixed the car at no charge. I was told that there have been other incidences like this with other 2003 Range Rovers. I asked Range Rover to notify owners of 2003 Range Rovers and they told me they are only responsible to fix the automobile. I asked how many incidents there were regarding the bearing in the differential axle and they told me they did not know and no one has the statistics. I called Range Rover north America and received the same robotic answers. It appears they are not interested in driver's safety but only interested in insuring they make money and are free of all liabilities. They repeatedly asked if I was happy about the service I received. I kept telling them it is not about the service or me. I am here to tell what happened and to try and prevent someone else having the same problem. The next person may not have an opportunity to tell their story. I will do my best to make Range Rover America take their responsibilities sincerely. I strongly feel Range Rover should notify the owners of 2003 Range Rovers and telling them to keep their wheels in alignment and to insure the owners know of the risks involved. Driving in a parking lot to a restaurant, the car makes a loud noise and rolls to a stop. It restarts but will not go anywhere in any gear. I lost all gears. I had it towed home, and I see nothing obvious. I ended up at a transmission shop where I paid to have it taken apart and they found the transmission itself was ok, but the axle shaft had broken inside of it. car   Axle Shaft problem of Suzuki Vitara

The vehicle was a 2001 Suzuki Vitara. While driving 70 mph the front end of the Suzuki grand Vitara xl7 (2001) the steering wheel began to shake violently in my hands. I pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that there was a rip in the rubber boot under the SUV on the drivers side (front). I believe it was called a 1/2 shaft. I stuck my finger in the rip of the rubber boot and felt a bunch of pieces on metal & large ball bearings laying in there. I had to park the SUV and call someone to pick up myself and my children so that we could pick up the wife which was being released from the hospital. I rented a u-haul truck with a trailer (185. 00) and drove it back from milwaukee. December 24th. I placed the SUV on jack stands and took off the tire and the cap for the drive shaft on the outer part by the break drum, I found a retainer clip about 1" in diameter. I removed it and the inner part of the 1/2 shaft fell off from the inner part of the break drum. I found out that the only thing that was holding the drive shaft in place was the retaining clip. We don't have any dealers in the area anymore. I called every parts store in the area and no one could supply me with a new part. I called a number of junk yards to find the part and found 1. The used part cost me 75. 00 I replaced it with ease but know the SUV sits in the driveway because it pulls to the left. We have to wait until we can afford to have the SUV checked out by a service station for alignment. It may cost us more if there is more problems that are not noticed by the eye. P. S. There was not warning that the SUV was having any problems before this happened. Thank you. This issue happened on December 23, 2006.

My wife was driving about 30 mph on a local street when she felt a pull when turning left then she heard and felt a sound like the muffler was falling off and heard a grinding noise coming from the front wheels. She immediately turned into a shopping plaza and shut off the car. What we found was that the axle nut and part of the axle had broken off and fallen out of the right front rear wheel. The wheel could have potentially fallen off and luckily she was not on a highway moving fast. The Volvo dealer believes that the cv joint for some reason (which have not yet explained) seized and caused the axle to break. The dealer recommends replacing the cv joint and bearing and the axle. The rotor was also irreparably damaged and needs to be replaced. I will keep the old parts. It was Saturday, November 5, 2005 when this axle shaft issue occurred.
