car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle is a 2012 Chevrolet Impala. I was driving and after making a left turn, my service traction control, service brake assist, and abs light all popped on. It went on and off for many days as I would stop and then re-start the car. I finally took it to a chevy dealership and was told they tested the front abs connector and adjusted the timing. Lights and codes went off for about two weeks then popped back on upon making a left turn. In addition to the lights and codes, the car now make a loud grinding noise and the car stalls. I have been at a light in the middle of making a turn when the car will stall and not let me take off- the traction control symbol will come on and I will be stuck trying to accelerate. This is very dangerous as I have almost been hit from behind a few times due to not being able to accelerate in a timely fashion. I have gone on chevy Impala forums looking for other drivers who may have experienced this are there are a good number of them. It seems to be an electrical problem. This brake abs warning light issue occurred March 14, 2014.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Chevrolet Colorado

The car was a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. For the past couple of years there has been a problem with my anti-lock brakes. When applying the brakes, the brake pedal vibrates excessively as if the anti-lock brakes are activating. After a short time driving, an abs warning light activates indicating a fault. I am very concerned because first, the brakes do not act in the way a driver would expect and when applying the brakes I get concerned every time that the brakes will not work. Secondly, I believe the fault may cause the abs to no longer function in conditions it has been designed for. Upon further research of this problem, it is apparent that this is a widespread issue among Colorado and canyon trucks. A "fix" for this problem is reportedly in the range of $1500 with many owners reporting that the problem has returned or continued. I feel that any issue involving a faulty brake component must be addressed as soon as possible. Chevrolet has chosen not to do this and I fear this may be yet another failure on the part of gm to address a safety issue involving one of their vehicles. I would have a hard time believing that I am the first to report this issue. I really do not want to become a statistic. Please help! thank you kindly for your time. Please note that the incident date, mileage and speed are only estimates. This issue happened on 05/16/12.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of GMC Canyon

The car involved was a 2008 GMC Canyon. VIN of the vehicle was 1GTDT43E68_. This happened numerous times. Mainly when first starting the vehicle. The abs sensor warning sound would come on and when starting to move the vehicle and engaging the brake pedal for the first time the abs brakes would actually engage(vibrating pedal) and it would feel as though the truck wasn't going to stop. After it did stop and continue to move forward the normal brakes would engage. Then the warning sound/beep would stop but the abs warning light would always stay on. After numerous times happening I brought it back to the dealer I bought it from and they told me I had a defective abs sensor in the right front wheel. I asked them if it was still under my 6 year warranty and they told me no. It would cost me about$1000 to fix. I told them not to fix it. After, I made numerous complaints to different levels of GMC customer service and got nowhere with them. I complained because I felt this was not something caused by me and was obviously a factory defect. After getting nowhere with GMC I brought it to a local mechanic and had it repaired $900. I write this complaint to you because this is dangerous and feel if it happened to my GMC Canyon it probably happened to many others and would force gm to recall them. Thank you. This issue happened on Tue., Jan. 1, 2013.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of GMC Sierra 1500

The car involved was a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. I was on my way to pick my kids up after school and as I approached a red light I pressed the brake pedal and it went completely to the floor. No dash abs indicator light or warning light showing any fault code came on before or since. Fortunately, I never follow close in traffic and was able to stop my vehicle using the emergency brake, without any incident and nobody getting hurt. Shortly after this incident I safely returned home by using the emergency brake and parked the vehicle. Since it was dark outside when I got home I left all until the next morning to take a look. The following morning behind my left front tire on the ground was a puddle the size of a softball and it was brake fluid, I looked up and traced it to a corroded/rusted/inferior brake line. I called the local gm dealer and was advised there was no recall on my particular vehicle by VIN for this issue, so I then called gm customer care and explained what had took place and gm had it towed to a local dealer. Currently my vehicle is at the dealership in service and as I await word on gm's position on what they intend to do to correct the issue I came across this site and a countless list of other gm customers that have experienced the same problem. I secured a gm case number, took photos of the corroded/rusted/inferior lines and will await what I hope will be the appropriate response from gm, which is to correct the problem free of charge. I'll update this vehicle safety complaint with the response I receive!. The failure date was Feb. 25, 2014.

Few weeks later, the check engine light came again in the evening, and now with other problems, the whole electric system including lights, radio etc started dancing on and off, abs light came on and off. Happened for a few minutes and then everything went smooth. I took the car back to dealership and they claim the code p0685 was found and there was a software update for the pcm and they applied that update. I asked why was there no intimation about it and the response was that it was not considered as one of the critical updates. car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. I purchased my 2002 landrover in Aug 02. Since then it has been in the shop for over 30 days for repair work to the stereo, sunroof, throttle assemby, tranction control warning light, passenger window breaking, etc. However, I was most disturbed to learn that landrover is "finding" out, as quoted by two dealerships, that the breaks need to be replaced every 12000 miles becasue the vehicle is too heavy for the pads used during manufacturing. Landrover north America has provided no relief in this matter and maintains that it is my personal driving habits that are responsible and this is a normal wear and tear item. I have owned several other suvs and have never had to replace breaks even up to 70,000 miles driving on moutain roads. I believe landrover na has a personnel responsibility to disclose the additional cost of $300 that each customer has to pay every 12k miles for break in addition to the $350 they have to pay for their scheduled service every 12k miles. I doubt they would sell another vehicle. Even the service manager at the dealership that services my car admitted he wouldn't by one either. The failure date was 07/27/2003.

Car sat for one week because a tech was on vacation! then I got a call from my service rep and gave me price around $3200. 00 for the repair. I have saved the parts do I need to have them tested for proper operation? I feel a refund for the trial and error should be given because if you look at my ro's the list is about 6 feet tall. My research on the internet shows this has been a common problem for many Mazda Tributes all the way back to 2000 and up through 2006 or even later. car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Subaru Impreza

The car involved was a 2012 Subaru Impreza. VIN of the vehicle was JF1GV8J63C_. This issue has happened twice, so I feel it's necessary to report it to the NHTSA. The first time this issue was happening, I was following another car going slightly downhill at about 30mph. The posted speed limit was 35mph so I felt like I was constantly switching back and forth between throttle and brake, but not so quickly as to press them at the same time. When this issue occured, there were three solid yellow/orange/gold (depending on how you look at colors) lights lit up solidly in the instrument cluster: the traction control light, the abs light, and the hill hold assist light. I immediately pulled into the nearest parking lot which was about 15 feet away. I tried everything to get the lights to go away before turning the car off, and when nothing worked I finally just cycled the ignition off then back on. All three magically went away by doing this. The second time this happened was only a few days ago and I was literally just sitting in my driveway on a level surface. My house is recessed into the ground about 10 feet from the top of my driveway, where the top is actually level and it is where I was sitting at. Sitting there, I revved my engine and slowly rolled down the driveway (in neutral, so I didn't go anywhere). Before the rpms went back to an idle I started rolling down our driveway (which is at least a 30 degree slope downhill) but when rolling down I was definitely on the brakes a little as to not go even past 1mph -- so very slow. I noticed all three lights came on again. This time I decided to let it sit for a while so I can try even more troubleshooting. Still no results unless I cycled the ignition. I took it into the dealer today for an ecm update they sent me in the mail, and they said they did see a "brake switch error" for code "history" but there were no current codes. A simple google search shows hundreds of people with the same problem. This brake abs warning light problem happened on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Subaru Outback

The car involved was a 1998 Subaru Outback. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JF1GF4851W_. I was approaching a stop sign in second gear and preparing to stop when the abs apparently took control of my car. I was unable to stop before the intersection and nearly hit another car. I did not feel that the road conditions warrented the abs response (the road was slightly wet) and I did feel that I was in control of my car before the abs took over. I was traveling under 10 miles per hour. I have driven my car in considerably worse weather and was always able to anticipate my stopping distance. The abs light has never come on and when I took my car to the dealer, they could find nothing wrong. Info that may be relevent. . . I was recently involved in a minor car accident but I do not think it should've affected the brakes. I also had my car realigned today and I do not know if this could have any affect on the abs. It was Sun., Jan. 10, 1999 when this brake abs warning light issue happened.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. My vehicle was stuck in a snow drift at the end of my road. I deactivated my electronic skid protection to get my vehicle free from the snow drift. I successfully made it onto the road and only going 20mpn due to icy roads and bad weather conditions. 1 to 2 miles down from where I was stuck, my abs and esp light came on and I almost lost control but because I was going so slow, I was a ble to keep it on the road. I pulled into the closest gas station to investigate and my rear brakes were locked up and would not come loose. I thought they may ahve been frozen so I cleaned what snow was on there and actuated the brakes several times, moving my vehicle back and forth to break them loose. This did not work so I drove it about 4 miles to the closest vw dealership, which was very difficult due to the icy roads and my rear wheels locked up. The vw technician told me that because my rear wheels were stuck in that snow drift and my front tires were trying to get me unstuck, a code popped up which activated my rear brakes. He cleared the code and my car works perfectly fine. If this "code" had tripped 10 minutes later, I would have been on the highway traveling at higher speeds on very bad road conditions and would have cause an accident. I do not know if the dealership was truthful as to what they found, if it was truly a code or if they were just frozen shut which created the code. I just wanted to create a complaint to log this issue in case this happens again, I have proof of the issue and complaint. It was Monday, January 27, 2014 when this brake abs warning light issue happened.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Volvo S60

The car involved is a 2002 Volvo S60. While driving in the dark, power to the electronics listed below were lost inevitably and many warning lights/messages appeared on the dash (also listed below under symptoms). There were no warning signs that this was about to happen nor is there any explanation for why it happened. I was driving on a dark road and I lost complete vision of the road due to headlight failure (both low and high beams). This scenario is a common safety issue associated with many other similar Volvo years and models. I had to stop the car immediately to avoid crashing and call someone to pick me up. All symptoms from this "blackout" did not and have not disappeared since it happened, making the car undrivable. These symptoms are suspect to be the result of a cem failure, which also controls emissions. As stated previously, this exact scenario has caused thousands of similar Volvo years and models to be recalled/repaired on Volvo's behalf. Unfortunately, my vehicle model has not been placed under recall for this extremely, dangerous safety defect. I would like to see action taken against Volvo and repair costs covered on their behalf. Symptoms: ¢¿brake failure stop safely warning message ¢¿engine system service required warning message ¢¿srs airbag service urgent warning message ¢low beam headlights not working ¢high beams headlights not working ¢check engine light on ¢abs light on ¢traction control light on ¢odometer not working ¢radio not working ¢power seats & heated seats not working ¢12v sockets (front & rear) not working ¢trip odometer not working ¢clock reset. car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Volvo V70

The car is a 1999 Volvo V70xc. The abs/trac and brake warning lights are coming on simultaneously and then go off after a few minutes. On other occasions, the speedometer stops working and the orange arrow starts blinking. Sometimes when the orange light is blinking, the car shifts to winter mode and you cannot accelerate as you normally would. The dealer told me that it is the abs module and cost of repair would be over $1000. I had the electronic throttle replaced last year. It looks like a poor design, as I have been reading a lot about these problems on Volvos. I am requesting NHTSA contact Volvo headquarters and demand a recall on this hazardous abs and acceleration safety problem. This problem occurred on October 16, 2006.

car   Brake Abs Warning Light problem of Jaguar XJ8

The VIN of the problem Xj8 is SAJDA14C01_. My 2001 Jaguar Xj8 with 43,000 miles suddenly reported problems with abs and trac systems on the dashboard readout. Dealer checked it and said a module needed replacement (total cost of about $1500). Although the warranty period was past, with such low mileage, I felt such a safety defect should be taken care of by Jaguar north America. I wrote them but they refused. I also pointed out they should have a recall, as the dealer told me this was quite common. I think this is something that should be looked into, if abs failures occur so soon in what otherwise is a very good automobile. It was Aug. 24, 2007 when this brake abs warning light issue happened.
