The vehicle was a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The car had a crash. I had the truck off, in park and e-brake engaged. A friend of mine was watching my child while I was pulled away and she had let him play with steering wheel (he loves playing with steering wheels). All of a sudden I hear the sitter screaming and turn around and saw my truck rolling down the inclined driveway with my toddler still in drivers seat and door open. I did what any sane mother would and tried to run to jump in and hit brake but ended up being dragged by the truck after it hit a pothole before crossing into a major road. When the truck finally came to a rest after crashing into a large fence with trees behind it, I managed to get my child out of truck and noticed the e-brake was still engaged. The truck has not been taken to a shop yet but will be soon. This is the only incidence of this malfunction with my truck that I know of and ive had it since 2009. However, I have previously had brake system issues where my brake lines popped off while I was driving down the highway. This really needs to be checked out. I now have a cervical spine injury, sprained wrist, sprained ankle, severe road burn where I was dragged, and multiple bruises, knots and scrapes. We were just lucky it happened after 5 o clock traffic had cleared out. There is a police report filed and my doctors have told me I need to look into getting an attorney. This issue happened on 04/07/2014.

The VIN of the car is 2HNYD18274_. My 2004 Acura Mdx does not brake properly in a panic type stop from any speed. Applying the brake pedal with maximum force does not generate enough hydraulic pressure to "lock the wheels" and activate the abs on dry pavement. The abs works well under other low friction circumstances such as rain, snow, and ice. The abs and braking system have been checked and found to be working properly. Panic braking distances are long with the brake pedal pushed to the floor, the car feels as if it is not stopping fast enough on dry pavement. Normal, non panic braking seems to be normal. I have had new brake pads and rotors installed. Brake fluid has been flushed twice and I installed stainless steel flexible brake lines all of which made no difference in full panic braking. Over a few years I have had 3 independent shops check the brakes and all said that the brakes were normal. In April 2013, I had the Acura dealer evaluate the braking system and was told "normal, this is just how they brake". To do a comparison, I test drove a used 05 Mdx at the Honda dealer and it braked exactly the same as my no ability to activate the abs in a full panic stop from any speed on dry pavement. Recently, Honda recalled 250,000 vehicles for a defective brake booster and the 01-06 Mdx is not included in that recall. This recall was based on Honda's audit of warranty claims. Cars like my Mdx are well beyond the warranty period and would never be found based on any warranty claim history. It is my belief that my 04 Mdx (and likely other Mdx vehicles) has a defective brake booster resulting in poor braking performance and creates a serious safety hazard. In may 2013, I sold my 04 Mdx to the same Acura dealer who did the evaluation of the brakes. In June 2013, I contacted Acura hq and advised them of the problem and they are going to monitor for similar complaints. This issue happened on Apr. 5, 2011.

The vehicle involved was a 1998 Honda Civic. While driving, the vehicle needed to make a hard stop. On stopping the vehicle brakes failed and the brake pedal hit the floor. Very lucky that no vehicle or pedestrian were hit. Car was approximately two miles from home. Drove remaining distance at 5 mph with parking brake only. On inspection discovered the two brake lines under the protective plastic were corroded. In addition, the three fuel lines are also severely rusted, and fuel is leaking from the return line. The corroded brake lines are lines 9 and 11 in the 1998 Honda Civic lx brake diagram. Line 11 is currently leaking leaving no brake pressure for the entire system. The fuel lines are pipes 15, 16 and 19 in the fuel line diagram with fuel line 19 leaking. The vehicle is currently awaiting to be serviced. Based on searches online for Honda vehicles, this is a fairly common occurrence especially in areas with high usage of salt such as the mid-west. Vehicle owners need to be notified of the dangerous and potentially deadly symptom. Why is there no recall or notification from Honda? in addition, the repair of all of these lines is very costly to the owners. The failure date was Thursday, July 18, 2013.

The vehicle was a 2003 Infiniti G35. 2003 G35 cp 6 spd I was driving on the 60 fwy going west @ 2:30 am, traveling about 65 mph & all of a sudden, the car spin out & skidded across the freeway onto the dirt almost hit the center divider. I was shock! I was thinking man. . . What did it just happen? first I thought there were stuff like grease on the fwy that cause the spin out. But I walk to the freeway & there was nothing on the fwy. So I got back into my car try to move the car, but it would not move. It seems like the rear-wheel brake is locked, the car will not move. So I call the tow truck & tow my car to the dealer in riverside. Then when the car got to the dealer, the mechanic went underneath and found out there were plastic got caught around the driveshaft. Then they jacked up the car to remove the plastic, they've find out that the brake lines are twisted, that's why the rear brake locked up. So after the dealer gave me a quote to replace the brake lines. And I ask them isn't that a defect from manufacture? they told me no, they blame on me that I ran over the plastic & cause the brake to locked. Does it make sense to you? brake is control by the driver, not any objects on the road. Lucky there was no cars around at that time. And also there was not a freeway divider right next to me, or else who knows what could of happen. I could cause a big accident. So to me, this is a very major safety issue & now I do not feel safety & comfortable driving that car anymore, after I had almost lost my life. This incident happen once & it will happen again. And im not down to go through it again. So now, I am requesting the dealer to take back the car. The car is only 9 days old and only have a few hundred of miles on it. I started to notice under body corrosion several years ago when the parking brake body attachment points on the rear differential corroded and became dislodged. The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Lexus Rx330. The VIN of the car is 2T2HA31U64_. I purchased my Rx330 sept. 2004 with 8 miles on it, however I travel over 150 highway miles a day. I have been experiencing the evaporation of brake fluid from my fluid reservoir which caused my brake light to come on. After replacing the brake fluid every 3-days I called the dealer and expressed the problem. Once taking it in they replaced the front brakes and added fluid. Three days later the brake fluid had evaporated and the brake light came on again. I immediately contacted the mechanicsberg, PA dealer after keeping it overnight they stated that nothing was wrong with my vehicle, however I refused to take it until they reproduced and repaired the problem. After reading the other 51 complaints, I have several issues to discuss with them. I am very blessed that my brakes haven't failed yet! I hope that all have made formal complaints to Lexus. It was 05/02/06 when this brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings issue happened.

The VIN of the problem Cx9 is JM3TB2DA7B_. August 6th 2013 my wife complained about the brakes on her 2011 Mazda Cx9 making a hissing type sound and brakes feeling mushy and not responding as normal. The next day she advised the brakes were worse so we parked the car until the 9th. The Cx9 has 46000. Miles. The car receives regular maintenance and was taken to tom bush Mazda (jacksonville FL. ) for diagnosis of the problem. We were advised that the issue was a vacuum leak from the brake booster and it had to be repaired at the cost of $695. 88. (part = $130. W/ labor $503. ) we learned that others have had the same problem and that a recall might have been issued for the previous year Cx9s. There was no consideration on repair costs. Our issue is the brake vacuum booster failure seems to be an abnormally common commplaint on Mazda's Cx9 vehicles and the fact that this involves brake failures, is a safety issue that may lead to a catastrophic crash at higher speeds. I believe other similar complaints noted about Mazda Cx9 brake issues in the NHTSA warrant a thorough investigation and possible recall. We will retain the defective part. Further note, the Mazda dealership released the vehicle to my father w/o properly inspecting their work. The vehicle was released to us w/o the brake lines being bled properly which caused the brakes to fail while at the dealership. It took another day to fix that issue. The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Crash happened when the problem occurred. The front brake lines failed upon frontal impact. I am a police officer/accident investigator and I investigated an accident involving a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The driver of the montero impacted the rear of a vehicle ahead of her. The impact damaged the left front of the montero enough to deploy the air bags, but not enough to prevent the wheel from rolling. The impact also caused the left front brake line to break. The line broke at the point where the flexible rubber part of the line connects to the metal fitting that is attached to the inner fender well. After the impact, the brakes would not allow the driver to bring the vehicle to a stop and the vehicle then went out of control and impacted a utility pole. The second impact was on the right front of the montero and in a similar manner the right front brake line broke. I am still investigating, but it appears the brake lines would not have been damaged if the attachment point of the brake line was on the vehicle frame and not on the inner fender well. It seems when the fender well was bent in the collision that is what put stress on the rubber line and caused it to tear away leaving the vehicle without braking and preventing the driver from bringing it safely to rest. Fourth issue: about 20,000 on Vue, went to store and was functional, came out and car would not start, over half a tank of gas in vehicle and gauge shows empty, bought gas can and put 5 more gallons of gas in car. On March 19, 2013, I was returning to my place of employment after picking up my Outback from bloomington Acura Subaru, bloomington, mn after a clutch replacement when the hydraulic brake system had a total failure resulting in a near catastrophic collision with several vehicles. This vehicle was taken back to the dealer for evaluation. Dealer inspection confirmed that the right rear brake line by the fuel tank protector had excessive corrosion resulting in severe fluid release thus not allowing the hydraulic system to properly pressurize resulting in a complete failure of the brake hydraulic system. The brake lines replaced were part number 26522aa010 and 26522aa020 (right and left). On March 27, 2013, the NHTSA issued campaign number 13v110000 for Subaru legacy Outbacks regarding "brake lines may fail due to corrosion". This recall pertains to model year 2005 to 2009. This citizen requests, nay, insists that this recall notice be extended to include later model years. This issue happened on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.

The car was a 2002 Suzuki xl-7. Condensation from vehicles air conditioning drips onto the insulation around brake line that is supposed to protect brake line from exhaust manifold heat. Living in texas the vehicle rarely is turned on without the air conditioning. The continued saturation, drying and vibration of normal day to day use caused a leak in one of the two brake lines leading to the rear of the vehicle. This was discovered after owner reported spongy feeling and loss of brake holding strength while in stopped position. Upon further inspection it was noticed both brake lines behind protective insulation has sever oxidation closest to the ends that are attached to an adapter. Fix that I employed was to bypass the extension that ran from the top of the engine down the passenger side, entered the insulated extension and then entered the adapter then into the rear brake lines. I was able to bypass all the unneeded joints with 2 48� brake lines and 2 couplings bought from local auto parts and rerouted line from driver side down across rear side of undercarriage then directly into rear brake line. The a/c no longer drips onto the brake line. This issue happened on Apr. 11, 2010.

While waiting for the traffic light to change and my foot on the brakes, the car suddenly accelerated and despite shifting to park and pulling on the emergency brake the car continued to rev very high for several minutes. Just prior to acceleration, the car's brakes became very soft and sunk all the way to the floor of the car as if someone had depressed the power in the brake line. I turned off the engine and waited for about 2 minutes and restarted the car. The engine raced again at very high speeds with the emergency brake on and the car set at "park. " I turned the car off again and waited five minutes. The car started normally and I then called my wife to pick me up. She drove the car back home and noticed the brakes were very mushy and she felt a slight acceleration. We took it to our Toyota dealership since it was still under warranty and they found nothing wrong with the car and aserted that I depressed both the brake and the gas pedal at the same time, which is utterly ridiculous. We have owned the car for 18 months and nothing like this has ever happened. There were more than five witnesses to this as I had blocked traffic at the light's intersection while other cars went around me while the car was racing. I have filed an incident report with Toyota but it does not look as if anything will be done with the unintended acceleration issue. I am a former lawyer and I take my complaints very seriously. The vehicle involved was a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. As I was slowing down to pull into my driveway my brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the car lost braking power for a moment. As this happened I heard a pop from the front of my car and a sound like an actuator pumping. After a split second of no brakes, the car did stop abruptly (although scary that I lost brake pressure). I opened the hood and found the brake actuator pumping even after the car was off. I also heard a leaking noise like the brake line had a pressure leak. I started the car, leaving it in park, and pressed the brake pedal down and about halfway down it would pop and go all the way to the floor. After this the actuator would start pumping again. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined and my opinion is that the actuator's seals or lines are leaking causing the system to depressurize. As long as the actuator can keep up with the brake pressure, all is fine, but if the actuator can't keep up the car loses brake pressure (like what happened to me). This has been a culmination of about 3 months of very strange crunching, whining and whirring noises coming from the front of the vehicle. I have been watching the problem and finally after my brakes failed, I did some research on the problem and found that the NHTSA is researching this problem. Please be an advocate for us to Toyota. This could result in a fatality and they should fix this problem. I am afraid to drive my car now and I'm not sure I can afford the $3,000 price tag to fix the brakes. The failure date was Mar. 23, 2014.

The car is a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. We were traveling at highway speed on I-95 south in virginia on a family vacation with a three year old and a 6 year old in the vehicle. Traffic came to an abrupt stop and my wife, who was driving at the time, screamed that the pedal went to the floor. I immediately told her to start pumping the brakes and downshift and I grabbed the hand brake. Amazingly, we were able to control the vehicle enough to and limp off the next exit. We had the vehicle towed to the nearest vw dealer. At the local vw dealer the problem was diagnosed as a front left flexible brake line failure due to a missing hose routing bracket on the strut tower. The non routed hose assembly as making contact with the inside of the front rim and eventually wore through the reinforcement. The abrupt stop was enough to finally burst the assembly. The service manager blamed me for the omission of the bracket and I was forced to pay $495. 71 for the repair. We have since taken this up with Volkswagen customer care and they reimbursed us for the repairs. Upon complaining further they gave us a $1000. 00 customer loyalty certificate for the lease or purchase of a new vehicle which has expired and is worthless at this point in time. The question I have is how could this defect or omission of the bracket have gone through a quality inspection at the factory, a pre-delivery inspection, and two scheduled dealer services without catching an issue like this?. The vehicle involved is a 2013 Volkswagen Golf. The vehicle had a crash. On July 16th, 2013, at 9:10 pm, I had driven, my vw Golf, 11 miles, at freeway speeds, of 59 mph. I was using the cruise control. Upon arriving, at my freeway exit, I believe I turned off the cruise control, or tapped the brake. I dont recall which. I had been driving my 2013 Golf, for 11 miles, at the freeway speeds, of 59 mph. Other vehicles were passing me, with these other vehicles going faster, than my car. I was going slower than them. My car was new, and I am retired. So I do not need to travel so fast. After allowing the 2013 vw Golf, to slow down, I pushed the service break pedal. The sevice brake pedal, went all the way to the floor. I quickly though, air was in the brake system, so I tried to push the service brake pedal, an additional 2 times. So I had to deal with this fast vehicle traveling, at 59 mph. The car became airbound. So I was able to swerve the vw Golf, in a right turn manuver. To avoid, crashing, actually, t-boning, the cross traffic. The 2013 Golf, did not roll over, it just slid sideways, the vw became airbound. And hit the middle median, sideways. The left front wheel, snapped off, at the spindle. The brake hose snapped, but there was no brake fluid, leaking out, of the brake hose. It is my opinion, there was zero brake fluid, in this new vw car. Nothing is being done. I hope, the car, will be picked up, very soon. The crashed vw, is parked right here, in front of my home. I first thought, that some person sabatoged, my car. But, here in front of my home, there are no leaks. The tow truck, driver, wayne is his name, he declared, to me, that he did not have to clean up, any brake fluid, and the vw of America, greg peters representitive, told me, that there was zero brake fluid, in the car. On December 18, 2010 I encountered a total loss of hydraulic braking caused by an abraded brake-line to the right, front wheel of my 2010 V70. The repair was completed at norco goodyear in mammoth lakes, CA. The service technician who completed the repair found that my car was missing a bracket to clamp the brake line and hold it away from the tire: as a result, the brake-line (hose) was slowly abraded through from wearing against the tire and cable-style snow-chains. The snow-chains had ample clearance on the left front side, where the brake-line hose was installed through a retaining bracket: no such bracket was on the right side and the brake hose touched my tire and snow-chain. Fortunately, I was able to stop the car safely; however, the emergency may have been dire if I had been traveling downhill. This issue happened on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010.

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. 1st occasion (3/11/11): I was driving east bound on a freeway, in the right lane, and at a speed of approximately 45 miles per hour. I also had my two young boys (ages 4 and 7) in the car with me. I had to brake suddenly when traffic backed up unexpectedly and it was at that moment my brakes failed and I had to veer off the right shoulder and up onto the embankment and fortunately did not crash into another car. I had minimal brake power. My regular repair shop was about 3 miles away and was able to very slowly drive my car there. The brake line on abs pump to right wheel had to be replaced. 2nd occasion (2/28/13): I was driving east bound in the right lane of a busy road during rush hour traffic. I was going about 30 miles per hour. I had to brake hard for traffic backed up at an intersection. Again, my brakes failed and fortunately there was enough distance for me stop before hitting the car in front of me. I had minimal brake power. At the intersection I turned right, heading south bound and then was able to safely pull into a parking lot and park my car. This time I had to be towed to my repair shop. My wife an I have a 2000 Jaguar Xk8 convertible and the plastic hydraulic lines ruptured above the interior light spraying hydraulic oil everywhere inside the car, including on us, I contacted the manufacturer and after a month or constant calls they didn't feel it was a problem of theirs and I should pay the $1,500. 00 for repair, that just covered the lines and not the interior which was covered in oil. I have been told by many repair shops that this is dead common in these cars, why has there not been a factory recall as this is a very toxic/dangerous and expensive blunder on the part of Jaguar. Lucky we were at a stop when this happened as otherwise the amount of oil I got in my eyes may have caused a fatal accident on the highway.
