Brake Light On problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Brake Light On problems reported in most popular vehicles.

car   Brake Light On problem of Chevrolet Malibu

The car is a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. The brakes lights on my vehicle come on without pressure applied to the brakes resulting in the cruise control to kick off. The brake lights will go off once the brakes are pressed. This presents an unsafe situation as it is never known when it will happen. This resulted in my vehicle being rear ended while at a stop sign coming off the off ramp from the highway. I have had to have this issue fixed several times and it keeps reoccurring. The power steering goes completely out on the vehicle while driving at random times. I have had to have this fixed at least two times. I know that there have been recalls on both issues for my make, model and year however I keep getting told that my vehicle is not on the list. This problem occurred on Friday, September 1, 2006.

car   Brake Light On problem of Chevrolet Corvette

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette. This is a recurring but intermittent problem with the exact same symptoms as described for non-corvette gm models in NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 "the brake lights to illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed; difficulty disengaging the cruise control; moving the gear shifter out of the 'park' position without pushing the brake; and disablement of crash avoidance features such as traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features. " I have noticed that the problem often initiates when driving over a bump, suggesting an intermittent open or short wiring issue. Then later things will return to normal for days or weeks. Chevy dealer first recalibrated the "brake pedal position sensor" then later replaced and recalibrated it; both non-warranty repairs. The problem continues with the next recommended action to replace the bcm at $700+ cost. This issue happened on 04/25/13.

car   Brake Light On problem of Chrysler Crossfire

The car is a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Chrysler Crossfire is 1C3AN69L04_. This is a common problem on 1000's of Crossfire's and mercedes (all models from 1998 forward). This issue is the bas system and brakes. Intermittingly, and usually during warmer weather when applying the brakes the bas light comes on, as does the light indicator. The issue is that the brake lights do not come on. There is a fault where if the bas is not working, the brake lights do not come on. They are tied together in the electronics. The bas is not required to stop the vehicle, however no brake lights because of the fault is extremely unsafe. The vehicle cannot be driven. Research online has found 1000's of complaints, no resolution and typically hundreds or thousands in repair costs that do not fix the issue. The brake lights should run independently of the bas system. A common fix is connecting an inline fuse from the brake switch to the brake light, if one is mechanically inclined to do so. Contacting mb states they know the issue but cannot determine the cause they also stated too costly to change the system for a % of owners. Other car manufacturers have brake lights wired separately from bas systems. This brake light on problem happened on Wednesday, May. 1, 2013.

car   Brake Light On problem of Chrysler Pacifica

The vehicle was a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I had the brakes repaired in 2012; the next month the abs light came on and the sensor was replaced. Ten months later, the sensor light came on again. I was told it was insignificant, that the brakes are fine. In the fall of 2013, I had the car towed to a shop because it tried to accelerate while I was pressing the brakes. I spent over $800. 00 having a bunch of codes cleared with the transmission and other things. The engine light was off for a few days but came back on. There was an error that read gas cap. I replaced the gas cap but the engine light remains on. In March 2014 the brake light came on, I was told that I needed to replace the calibers but later was told that I didn't. I had someone else to check and they said that I needed new front brakes. I had those replaced. On 4/7/2014, I was leaving the parking garage at the doctor's office and the gas pedal was stuck. Lucky for me it was on a downhill slope and I was able to stop at the stop sign and put the car in park and press the accelerator to unstick it. Today, April 13, 2014 the brake light is back on and there is a noise in the frontend. I love my car but it just does not feel safe to drive. This issue happened on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Lights don't work on drivers side of car. I push the brake and the dome light in the hatch area on passenger floor light up. All sensor lights are on, in the dash area, seat belt, brake, air bags, etc. Brake light is flashing on and off and dinging when it feels like it. This is an on going problem for a lot of the 2008 Dodge Nitro and I see 152 complaints alone on this website and a lot more on the carcomplaints. Com. car   Brake Light On problem of Ford Windstar

The vehicle was a 2002 Ford Windstar. VIN of the vehicle was 2FMDA51422_. The abs and brake lights came on just two weeks after I purchased my Windstar. They would come on and off intermittently over the course of the next few weeks. I took the car to a mechanic and was told it was my ecu master relay which costed me almost $1000 dollars. After a few days the lights came back on again I took it back the mechanic and he said that maybe the part was faulty and he would provide me another. To which I asked for a refund because that was a brand new part it has to be more then the part. The failure date was Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of Ford Windstar

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Ford Windstar. All of the following happened at the same time: abs and brake lights went on and stay on. O/d light flashing. Odometer and speedometer stop working. The electronic compass, remaining fuel info. , automatic electronic diagnostic and electronic temp. Showing errors. Electronic sliding door would not open unless engine is not running. Power windows stopped working 6 months ago, not sure if it is related. I had a mechanic replaced the alternator and checked the brakes. It did not fix the problems and there was nothing wrong with the brakes. I took it to Ford dealer and I was told that the abs module could be the problem because they replaced a lot of them. The abs module supposedly messing up the whole electronic system. It has less than 65,000 miles and I'm scared to drive it because the electronic system might suddenly cause other problems and cause an accident. The electronic sliding doors already would not open unless the engine is not running. In case of an emergency or a crash, someone might not be able to get out and be trapped inside because the doors and windows would not open. I was told by a Ford customer service that there is no recall to fix the problem or look into it even though they admitted they've been having similar problems to a lot of Ford vehicles. This issue happened on May. 9, 2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of Acura MDX

The car was a 2005 Acura Mdx. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2HNYD18935_. The brake will apply on its own and the brake lights will not come on because you dont press the pedal which would trigger the brake switch to turn the brake lights on. This is a very serious issue as it has happened to me numerous times at high speed. Note I sent to Acura during the uncommanded brake issue, it describes the issue etc. . This is <my name>, I had brought my 2005 Mdx which I bought new from you back in 2005 in for the uncommanded brake application issue on Feb 10th 2010. As you know when this issue happens the brake applies itself when my foot is on the gas pedal and sometimes the vsa and ! light come on and sometimes they do not. On the 10th I drove the car with you mechanic and we had a brief experience of the issue but because of traffic I had to apply the brake and when my foot was off of the brake it still applied itself and then released and then applied again without me touching the pedal. The most serious of the issues is when my foot is on the gas and the brake applies itself. On that day your mechanic did a bunch of tests from the service manual for dtc 66 & 68 including: -- "the jiggle" test to see if something was loose and would trigger a code -- battery test for voltage -- ground connection to body clean and reset -- vsa connector was taken off and put back on -- codes were reset there is more but the length is greater than allowable maximum of '1,901'. It was 02/10/2010 when this brake light on issue happened.

car   Brake Light On problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Land Rover Freelander is SALNY22232_. The brake lights sometimes work and sometimes do not work (cited in 2 incidents by the police). All parts are fine (by check-up of a repair workshop), and no repair can be possibly done. Probably, the height of the brake lights above the ground is too low, so that it is sometimes too damp or wet (after snow or rain) for the brake lights to work properly. When they dry up, they work again. Next, the 2 brake lights are on the 2 corners of the bumper, and the central brake light is high on the tailgate. Theoretically, the 3 brake lights give warning enough when the car stops. However, there are 2 tail lights are high on the fenders (the 2 sides of the car's tailgate), relatively far away from the 2 brake lights on the bumper. The 2 tail lights give a wrong impression to any drivers behind this car, and let those drivers misunderstand the tail lights to be the brake lights (even the 2 police officers misunderstood in the 2 incidents). This will cause collision in reality. The failure date was January 16, 2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of Lexus LS430

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Lexus Ls430. The car had a crash. I have owned car since new. All service performed by same dealer on time. All repairs done as suggested by dealer. Air bags recall performed in 2006. New brakes within 6 months. Driving to my wife"s work (airport) on same route for 38 years (37 miles from residence). I observed red light and cars stopped 100 yards ahead 1/4 mile from destination. I applied brakes several times to no avail. I told my passengers that I could not stop and applied brakes several times again. Brakes did not go to floor. It felt as though cruise control was on - it wasn't. I avoided a few cars by steering to curb and sidewalk. I observed a light post on sidewalk and had to turn into traffic hitting two cars. A motor policeman was directly behind me and said no brake lights came on. No air bags deployed and left side rear passenger's seat belts failed. Car was totaled. My two passengers (my wife and her CO worker) were taken by ambulance to hospital. This problem occurred on Feb. 17, 2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of Lexus GS300

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Lexus Gs300. Regarding my 2000 GS 300 Lexus. Brake, abs, vsc, vsc off lights along with loud alarm displayed. Also has had an annoying on and off chirping noise before this alarm sounded. The breaks appear to be working without any problems. The chirping noise is heard on the drivers side and doesn't seem to matter whether car is moving or driving and sometimes is not heard at all and the car drives fine without any mechanical problems. But when the brake light came on it was accompanied with a shrill alarm that sounded for about 10 minutes and went off. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and he said it was the hydraulic brake pump and would cost $3700 to fix. This is a lot of money and I am afraid the brakes will go out and afraid to drive it since my brakes may suddenly go out. This brake light on issue occurred Nov. 15, 2013.

car   Brake Light On problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The vehicle is a 2007 Mazda Mazda3. The VIN of this vehicle is JM1BK34387_. The brake light housing (amber lens) was heated by the bulb to such a degree that the lens itself melted onto the bulb. We are not entirely sure when this happened and may have been ongoing for quite some time. Upon inspection by an experienced automotive technician, it was confirmed that the bulbs were the correct model and had been installed correctly. Some of the plastic had melted down onto the bulb itself and could potentially become a fire hazard. This problem impacted both driver and passenger sides, with the driver side appearing more significantly melted. After a quick search on Mazda forums, this appears to be an issue experienced by many owners of 2007 Mazda 3 models, but only those in the hatchback configuration. It was Mar. 7, 2014 when this brake light on issue occurred.

car   Brake Light On problem of Mazda MAZDA6

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Mazda Mazda6. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1YVHP82BX9_. The check brake light came on. I found that there was very little break fluid. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and he determined that there was a hole in the break line created when it rubbed up against the engine. He said it was a design flaw and recommended that we take the car to the Mazda dealership. The service manager was very understanding but could not make any judgment. He consulted with Mazda corporate. Corporate ruled that since it was not under warranty they were not responsible for replacement of the part. As a gesture of goodwill they paid for the part which was $73. 28, and charged me $405. 00 in labor to installation. To me, I would certainly like to get reimbursed my out of pocket expense. But more, so I would like to have this design flaw corrected so that someone doesn't killed when their brakes fail. I will be out of the country until Feb. 17th. Thank you. car   Brake Light On problem of Mercedes Benz CLK350

The car involved was a 2006 Mercedes Benz Clk350. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WDBTK56G06_. Bought the car in July 2013 third brake light lense fell off. I checked my brake lights with someone pushing the brake pedal and observed the electrical component dangling loose inside trunk third light space but no cover lense. Didnt notice the lense had fallen off until several strangers tailing me told me. I know there is a brake light issue that is being recalled on a different mercedes model and year. I was thinking that perhaps my vehicle might have the same issue. So I googled this issue and to my disappointment found many more Mercedes Benz owners had the same problem as me. The reason its a disappointment because Mercedes Benz vehicles are highly reguarded as the most prestiged vehicle let alone one of the costly cars. Who would have imagined such small overlooked detail came off the assemberly line. As a further insult Mercedes Benz refuse to acknowledge this as a problem and compensate its customers. The vehicle involved was a 2007 Nissan Armada. We purchased the vehicle in December 2013. In March my wife was driving and pulling into a commercial parking lot and the brake light went on and when she applied the brakes, the whole vehicle shook and made a loud noise. It was obvious that it was a brake issue because it only happened when she pushed the brakes. I test drove it later that night and the problem did not reoccur. I told her we would watch and see if it happened again. I was driving the vehicle today and the same problem occurred. Driving at about 20mph and turning into my neighborhood, the brake light came on and the brake pedal shook and the braking was about half as effective as usual. My wife does not feel comfortable driving the vehicle after this. The failure date was Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of SAAB 95

The vehicle having this issue was a 2000 SAAB 9-5. I purchased a SAAB 9. 5 wagon- year 2000 with 53,000 miles on it. Now it has 63,000 miles. My repair bills currently are over $7,000 excluding maintenance and routine service (the warranty that I purchased w/ the car has not covered any of repairs). One day about 5 lights came on at the same time on my dash. I am talking about the lights/symbols that come on when a particular problem arises with the car. The entire brake system lights came on they are called the abs, tcs and 2 other brake related lights along w/ the engine light. I took my car to SAAB in santa monica and the mechanic, tony, ran a test and told me that I need to replace my abs computer brake component. The price for the part would be 2,800 plus 200. 00- 300. 00 for labor, so approx. 3,000 to replace this computer unit. The mechanic explained to me that I should file a claim with SAAB because of the "tremendous amount of failures" with this component. I did and I was denied by SAAB. Unable to afford the cost of this repair, mainly because, like I mentioned before, I am well over $7,000 in repair bills already and I simply cannot come up with 3,000 right now. So, I was driving my car home and by accident the ignition key was nudged which caused the key to turn off the car. I completely lost all brake power and was forced to use my emergency brake to avoid hitting pedestrians walking across the street. This was a terrifying situation, I have never experienced completed brake failure and now I am terrified to use my car at all. Since I cannot afford to have this computer component replaced I make an attempt not to drive my car. It seems to me that SAAB should take a more serious look at this problem. I have had 3 SAAB mechanics tell me the same thing about the this abs computer component, that it needs to be replaced often, and that it is something SAAB should be held responsible for. Is SAAB aware of the potential danger owner's of Saabs have and the general public regarding this specific problem?. It was Saturday, May 7, 2005 when this brake light on issue occurred.

car   Brake Light On problem of SAAB 9-3

The vehicle involved is a 2006 SAAB 9-3 sports combi. The VIN of the problem 9-3 is YS3FH51U66_. Low of vehicle power brake assist. After sitting for several hours, when the car was first started the power brake assist would not work or would work at a reduced rate. There were not check engine or brake lights to notify us of a failure. This almost resulted in an accident. It took nearly 20 ft to get the vehicle to a complete stop. Had this occurred in a parking lot or in another location were a person or vehicle was close by an accident would have occurred. The vacuum pump was replaced I believe the part # is 12822387. Had a notification been given that there was an issue such as a check engine or brake light, this would not have been as big of an issue. This issue happened on Mar. 9, 2011.

They stated computer indicated the brakes were not engaged but that this same system does disable the electronic stability control when this fault occurs. We are very concerned the vehicle is safe to drive despite the assurances of the service manager ( alex) that the vehicle is safe (no worries). The instrument light on the panel also flashes "check engine light at the same time light flashes indicating parking brake has been set & not released. This problem occurred on 05/23/2014.

car   Brake Light On problem of Suzuki SX4

The vehicle was a 2009 Suzuki Sx4. The VIN of this vehicle is JS2YC41419_. My car's issue is that air bag light stays on. When I took the vehicle to the local Suzuki dealership to fix an other issue on brake system, the air bag light also had stayed on. The service mechanics saw the front panel of my car where the brake system light and airbag system lights were on. However, they did not warn me about it. If they had told me, the costs should have been covered by warranty. At that time, I did not know what the airbag light indicated (I. E. Airbag would not deploy when I got an accident) as a dealership where I purchased the car did not warn me about it although it already stayed on when I purchased it. This is a serious safety issue in terms of quality of service technicians and airbag system itself of Suzuki. This appears to be a known and wide spread issue with Suzuki Sx4 as I have seen multiple complaints, which are the same as my issue, on safecar. Gove and other websites. Furthermore, looking at those information, those cars had the issue at a quite early stage of car usage (e. G. When purchased and mileage), which indicates that the airbag system has a defect. This issue could lead serious injuries or dead so Suzuki should resolve it as soon as possible by either recalling the airbag system or extending the warranty so that car owners can fix it with no costs and saver our lives. Otherwise, car owners who could not afford the costs could not fix it. Also, car owners who are not familiar with airbag light/system would not pay attention to the dangerous situation. From that perspective, Suzuki should notify car owners about the issue immediately. I hope that NHTSA also would take the issue seriously, investigate it and give the necessary directions to Suzuki to save our nation of u. S. A 's lives from a defect airbag system. This brake light on issue occurred December 25, 2009.
