car   Brake Light Switch problem of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The car was a 2004 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. There is an issue with the brake light switch that was causing the brake lights to stay on all the time, resulting in the battery being dead. This has occurred 3 times. The 1st time, the dealership simply connected the switch back together. The 2nd time, the dealership did the same thing and told us that we could disconnect the switch if it occurred again to keep the lights from staying on. The 3rd time I was unable to disconnect the wires and had to cut them because the battery was dead again and I was enroute to FL from TN. The dealership in FL wasn't going to fix the problem under warranty because I had to cut the wires myself so I could travel in the car. After some consideration, however, they decided to fix the car under warranty. It's a 2004 Chrysler Pt Cruiser and has less than 8500 miles on it. We are not happy with this car at all!. car   Brake Light Switch problem of Ford Freestyle

The car is a 2005 Ford Freestyle. We noticed that when going over bumps in the road, the interior lights would randomly turn on and off. At first I thought it might have been related to a door switch but after some trouble shooting, I found that it was related to the ignition switch. I found that while driving I could wiggle the key and the lights might turn on or off randomly. There was no effect to the engine. During the day I'd not noticed it but at night it is quite distracting. I've not yet replaced the switch but it is on my list. We recently purchased the car. It may have had the problem for some time before we bought it. As part of my fixing things, I'd also replaced the brake light switch that was stuck on, causing damage to the lights on the tail gate from heat. I can save the switches if it is of interest. Dwight elvey. It was Tue., Apr. 1, 2014 when this brake light switch issue happened.

car   Brake Light Switch problem of GMC Canyon

My husband's brake lights went out on his 2009 GMC Canyon. He took it to a dealer to have it fixed. We read online that there was a recall for his brake light switch. They checked his VIN and said there wasn't anything. It isn't the bulbs, fuse, etc. They "fixed" it and said "it'll either work for the next 5 min or it won't work at all. " and handed him the keys. He drove it and sure enough, the lights went out, again. He took it back and the same thing happened. "it may or may not work, yada yada. . . " why would they hand them the keys plus allow it pass for inspection if it does not work? as far as I am concerned, the work has not been completed. My husband recently got out of the usmc and has yet to find work. We cannot afford to keep taking it back or yet pay for a ticket!!!!. This problem occurred on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

When she started up the truck she could not get it out of park. After turning off the car and turning it back on a couple of times somehow she was able to get it into drive. This happened again later on when she dropped off a friend and left the car in park while she let her friend out. She tried the same tactic as before and after a few times she was able to get it out of park. When she returned home she told me of the problem. I went to the garage and started the truck up and the same thing happened to me. I began to pump the brakes and noticed that the brake lights were not functioning properly and that when they came on I was able to take it out of park. There was no hazard light of any kind to inform us of this malfunction and that it was tied to the brake lights. car   Brake Light Switch problem of Hyundai Accent

2010 Hyundai Accent rear brake lights and the rear windshield brake light do not light up when I press on the pedal. I noticed that there are a couple of complaints on for the same issue. I replaced the fuses, the bulbs, and they still do not work. I researched this and Hyundai has 4 consecutive years 2006-2009 where there is a malfunctioning brake light switch issue. I believe this issue has not been resolved and I plan on letting the dealer know this when I go there tomorrow. I feel this is a major safety issue and they should replace this free of charge given the history of this. I also tried contacting Hyundai directly and said unless there is a recall there is nothing they can do about this. Stated dealers are independent and I would have to talk to dealer about resolving this issue. This issue happened on Friday, March 28, 2014.

All the dash lites are on and the speedometer dosnt work. It has been at a Jeep dealershjp for almost a month. They cant figure out whats wrong with it. I took it back a third time and the company told them to change the ground wires and that didnt fix the problem. They are out of ideas. The right tale lite keeps going out also. car   Brake Light Switch problem of Kia Motor Rondo

The vehicle involved is a 2007 Kia Motor Rondo. Vehicle had the stop lamp switch replaced under NHTSA campaign 09v130000 (kia recall sc077) in June 2009. On 4/6/14 the replacement stop lamp switch failed causing the esc malfunction light to illuminate, the brake lights to fail to illuminate, and brake-transmission interlock to prevent the transmission from being either shifted from n to r or from p to r without using the shift lock release tab. I had just backed out of a parking space at one store with no problems, crossed the street, and attempted to park at another store when the transmission would not shift out of drive. Had to use shift lock release to get vehicle home and to dealer on 4/7/14. Dealer confirmed failure of the replacement switch, charged me $69. 02 in parts and labor to replace it. Since kia expanded the recall in April 2013 to cover all remaining Rondo's, I feel that kia should have replaced the switch under warranty as this indicates a lingering problem with the switches across various model years and other kia and Hyundai models. I also feel that NHTSA should investigate failure rates of the switches replaced under NHTSA campaign 09v130000 (kia recall sc077) because kia apparently has not made satisfactory progress in resolving this safety issue given the failure of the unit placed in my vehicle. It was Apr. 6, 2014 when this brake light switch issue occurred.
