car   Brake Warning Switch problem of Chevrolet Avalanche

The car involved was a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. VIN of the vehicle was 3GNEK13T23_. Premature wear of emergency brakes on a 2003 Chevrolet avanlanche 1500. The brake is not used and the service people could not explain why the brakes wore out. My regular brakes just at 28700 miles just needed to be replaced in the back but not the front. The front brakes are almost like new. Even the service manager said that it did not seem right. Gm just says nothing they will do. It cost me about $150 dollars(required for inspection) to fix those emergency brakes and I believe there is a defect in the system that allowed the brakes to wear out. They should not have any wear as emergency brakes. Gm said they had a lot of complaints but they could not explain it either. Can you help me and investigate this problem? basically I was told by gm that they are aware of the problem but don't know what is causing it. So maybe I shouldn't use the emergency brake at all. Since they can't prove what's wrong they won't help me. Sounds like an excuse not to fix what's wrong. Maybe it's just a way of causing the owners of these vehicles to pay more at service/inspection time. A scam!. This problem occurred on Jan. 4, 2005.

car   Brake Warning Switch problem of Honda Accord

The vehicle having this issue was a 1997 Honda Accord wagon. I am the original owner of subject vehicle. The brake switch failed without warning thrice on my 1997 Honda Accord ex wagon (VIN 1hgce1891va000518) with 31000 miles; the vehicle has no brake lights after brake switch fails. Previous identical failures were at 22000 miles on 06/18/2002 and 164k miles on 09/29/2000. My dealer says that such a failure is typical after each 100-150k miles on these vehicles. When the brake switch fails, the operator must use the "shift lock release" (slr) to put the car in gear from the park position. Page 105 of the owns manual merely states "if you need to use the shift lock release, it could mean your car is developing a problem. Have the car checked by your Honda dealer. " there is no mention that the car may not have brake lights. There no dash indicator notifying the driver that there are no brake lights: there is no warning of any sort that all brake lights are out. (the "brake lamp" failure dash lamp only tells if a bulb is out if the brake switch is working. ) this is a very dangerous condition that could result in fatal accidents. In this lastest brake switch failure, I was 500 miles from home and operated the car for the next day unaware of this condition until I returned home and went to my local dealer to have the problem fixed by replacing the brake switch at a cost of about $127. I have my service receipts from all three repairs. This problem occurred on Wednesday, July 21, 2004.

car   Brake Warning Switch problem of Lexus RX330

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Lexus Rx330. I have a Lexus RX 330, 2004. Starting in April 2004 right after I purchased it on March 31, 2004 I have had brake problems with this car. It would jolt when you were applying the brakes, and pull to the side. This was reported by phone, and during its first check up at 1000 miles. Told they could not find anything. Continued problem. Told same at 5000 mile check up, but they replaced brake booster anyway. While backing out of drive brakes failed, and vehicle ran into a yard. Then brake light came on. Lexus dealer sent car carrier to pick up. Driver saw there were no brakes and light was on. Told by dealership the brakes working and light on, but replaced brake boosters again. This time supposedly with another type. I was assured each time nothing wrong with car. Kept driving it, and car would continue to jolt, and pulled to side while steadily applying brakes. Even to the point it would break traction in rain. Had car picked up again,, and they told me this time it was a chip which controlled the baffle system that controlled the brakes. I refused to let them work on it, and asked Lexus at this time to buy the car back under the GA lemon law which was very clear about major system failure such as brakes. His buy back process has been going on since February. The car has been at the dealership unable to be driven. Signed a contract with Lexus to buy it back over 45 days ago and they still have not given me my money. This brake warning switch issue occurred 04/01/04.

Ever since I purchased this car (2004 Nissan pathfinder Armada) in December 2003 I am experiencing some brake problems and the dealer has been trying to solve the problem and it is getting worse. The car had only about 3000 miles when it all started. I cooperated with the dealer because he said they were aware of the problem and that Nissan's engineers are working to solve the problem and now I cannot invoke the lemon law because it has been over a year, at least this is what a lawyer told me today. Anyway, the car started to brake on its own without anyone applying the brakes and the emergency brake lights comes on when this happens. I had it towed to the dealer and they said there was a leak in the master cynlinder. They replaced it after 2 weeks and while my wife was taking the car home, the same problem occured again. This time the dealer is blaming the problem on the brake boosters. They will not have a replacement available before 3 to 6 weeks. car   Brake Warning Switch problem of Volvo S80

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Volvo S80. The VIN of this S80 is YV1TS94D7Y_. 1) engine idles rough, problem became so bad that car stalls at low speeds, lost power steering & "engine dies" at low speeds (unsafe!). Local mech referred to etm warranty program to re-program faulty etm module. Took car to dlr, re-programmed etm car died again! turns out bad battery as well: several hundred $$$ to replace battery. Car does not accelerate smoothly, large "shudders" present when merging onto hwy, during transmission/gear shift. Not good! 2) airbag "srs-urgent service" warning indicator light is on. Good local mech. States this is a $1000 repair. 3) "check brake light" warning indicator light turns on when depressing on brake pedal: good local mech. States that this is "normal" requires exact matching electrical resistance of all brake lamps to ensure that "check brake light" warning does not occur (in actuality the brake lights work fine, the built-in-test is faulty). 4) "check engine light" comes on 2-3 times in last 3 months. Major service was required. One fault was isolated to fuel tank gas cap: if not secured properly "ecm-4308 (leak diagnostic) large leak" occurs. . . Remedied by twisting fuel cap 3 full rotations, after re-fueling gas tank. Good local mech. Diagnosed the loose gas cap problem, warned me about it, and didn't charge me (nice!). 5) body paint is very susceptible to chipping & scratches. Paint or exterior panels are very soft and easily damaged. Another shame, this car looks great but does not hold up very well under typical parking lot conditions (I. E. Someone parked next to you opens their car door into the side of your car resulting in a large scratch). Solution: purchase a fancy car cover and protect the body paint, if you can! 6) parking brake "seems loose", upon parking car and engaging parking brake the vehicle rolls almost 30 cm bwds or fwd depending on level or inclined surface. It was Oct. 19, 2006 when this brake warning switch issue happened.

I own the following automobile: 03 Jaguar X-type sajea51d33xc89540. This car was purchased in July of 2002, from howard orloff Jaguar in chicago illinois. This car has given me nothing but problems. I have had the car serviced several times last year, for engine ticking, and the check engine light coming one. This year, I have had this car serviced three times for the following: 1. Tick in the engine 2. Leather discoloring 3. Carpet coming from under molding 4. Heating vents coming out of dashboard 5. Rain sensors not working' 6. Windshield wipers not automatically working 7. Hole in carpet on driver's side 9. Being locked out on several occasions, the alarm switches were not working, and the key would not open the door. 10. The transmission gear box has been replaced, because the transmission jerks, and there was a ticking sound coming from the gear box. 11. The car would not start; they had to replace the battery. I am having the car towed tomorrow for the following reasons: 1. Ticking in the engine 2. The check engine light keeps coming on 3. Abs system malfunction light comes on 4. There was an excessive amount of brown "stuff" leaking from under my car yesterday. 5. When I got in the car and cut on the heat, I did not have any heat. 6. The car would not start, three times in a row. . . Then it just started up 7. The car will not allow you to take the key out of the ignition although this is an entry level Jaguar, the car does not have that many miles on it, and it should not be giving me these major problems. . . Especially the same issues over, and over again. This brake warning switch issue occurred 04/05/06.
