car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The car is a 2010 Chrysler town and country. I was on traveling on the interstate heading to my workplace. At approximately 1:45 pm CT, I moved to the fast lane in order to pass a vehicle. When I accelerated, the car shifted into a higher gear and then I saw the rpm gauge go almost to red line - as if I pressed the accelerator to the floor. The car accelerated rapidly and I quickly approached a dangerous speed. Taking my foot off the pedal did not help. There was no car mat stuck under the pedal and pumping the pedal did not resolve the problem. When braking, the car was fighting the brakes. I placed the car into neutral and the car began to slow down (curiously, the rpms also dropped!) - when I dropped below the speed limit, I put the car's gear back in drive. The car once again accelerated and the rpms rose again as if I floored the pedal. I tried repeating my same steps to no avail and then I once again placed the car in neutral. Due to the massive amounts of snow in the area, there was no shoulder for me to pull onto (occupied by snow piles) and there were no nearby exits (I was traveling northbound on I-294 having just passed the 95th street exit - next exit is several miles away) and to compound the issue, I had traffic in front and behind me. This was a freighting situation and I don't usually get scared easily! I took out my cell phone to get ready to call 911. While doing this I was looking for a safe time and place to put the car in neutral where I planned to just shut the car off when I could pull off somewhere so as not to kill anyone (or myself). . . Then, just as spontaneously as this all occurred, the rpms returned to normal. I was once again in control of the car. I would be happy to let investigators look at the black box data to verify my claim. I do not want someone to die over this engineering issue. Thank you for your interest in this matter. It was February 11, 2014 when this car accelerates on its own issue occurred.

car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of GMC Terrain

The car involved is a 2010 GMC Terrain. Crash was involved with the GMC Terrain. On 10/17/2013 my wife experienced a sudden acceleration while pulling into a parking space at our local walgreen's pharmacy. As she was pulling into a parking space in front of the pharmacy the car kept moving forward slowly although she was pressing on the brake pedal as hard as she could. The car crawled up the concrete curb stop slowly and hit the steel pipe bollard placed in front of the curb stop to protect the walkway front of the store. No injuries occurred to my wife, no one was on the walkway at the time. Only damage was to the bollard (bent over) plastic bumper, grill and right front fender of the car. Bollard and a trash receptacle brought the car to a stop. This is the second time this occurred. The first occasion was about a year ago when I was driving on a neighborhood residential street approaching a stop sign. As the car was slowing down and I was pressing on the brake pedal the car kept moving forward with the brakes being fully applied. Could hear the engine straining at an increased rpm. I lifted my foot off the brake pedal and jammed it down hard again and the car came to a stop at the stop sign with the engine in normal idle. In the three years we have owned this car these are the only occasions the problem has occurred. The failure date was Thursday, October 17, 2013.

This issue almost caused me to run into a car in front of me after pulling off from a stoplight. It is extremely scary to continue to drive the car, but with this being my only vehicle and I must work, I am forced to drive daily. Warranty just expised 5 months ago in March and I cannot afford to fix the problem (March 24, 2013, 5 year/100,000 mi. Powertrain). Vehicle was purchased March 24, 2008. car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of Acura RDX

The vehicle having this issue was a 2012 Acura Rdx. While coming to a stop at a busy intersection, the engine suddenly accelerated up to 5,000 to 6,000 rpm with my foot on the brake and the transmission in drive. The brake was not holding and I started moving closer to the car stopped for the red light in front of me. I then put the transmission in neutral while the engine was still at 5,000 rpm and getting faster. Finally, the engine came down to about 1,000 rpm and I continued through the intersection on the green light after placing the car in drive. I drove to work and called the Acura dealer that I purchased this "certified used car" from and they came to my work and hauled the Acura Rdx to the dealer location. They informed me that a "special Acura investigating team" will come and look at the car on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. This is my wife's car I don't even know what would have happened if she was driving. This instant acceleration, without placing the car in neutral, would have pushed the car in front of me and myself directly into a busy intersection without stopping until the engine quit! this failure could result in a very tragic accident. I and especially my wife are very very concerned with what caused this problem and we are awaiting word from the Acura dealer specific to what they found during their investigation. My wife does not want to drive this car if they indicate they can not find out what caused the car to suddenly accelerate. This could happen to anyone driving this car and needs to be investigated ASAP so no one will suffer. We were very lucky this time. This car accelerates on its own problem happened on Fri., Mar. 28, 2014.

The shop manager informed me of the failure as determined by the electronic analysis. Since he had to order parts, he had to take me and my family to a car rental company. After about 5 days, the car was ready for pickup. The repair cost was $939. 42, the rental cost was $174. 18, and I drove about 210 extra miles making gas cost about $30. At the time, I assumed this was an unusual but isolated product failure. Now, I see NHTSA recall 13v-430 and believe that my situation was due to this faulty part. I would like reimbursement, and also a review of my car's system as repaired to replace parts further as necessary. It was Apr. 5, 2011 when this car accelerates on its own issue occurred.

We had a 2009 msk which excelerated by it self on April 21, 2014 and caused my wife to hit a tree and spend three days in the hospital and also totaled out our car. Not knowing that there was a problem with the car, we brought a 2010 Mks on may 7, 2010 and on may 8, 2014 when my wife pulled into our driveway, that car also had an unintended acceleration aposide causing it to surge at a high speed running through our garage door and the corner of our house. I then looked on the internet and discovered that there were several class action law suits in about 14 states dealing with the same problem, of unintended acceleration dealing with the electronic throttles causing this dangerous situation. To our surprise both of the cars we brought the 2009 and 2010 Mks was on this list for this scary and frightening problem. Now how you we get this defect corrected, so we can drive the car safely? is there an TSB repair bulletin sent to the dealers for this repair? please someone help. Thanks. car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of Mazda MAZDA6

The vehicle was a 2005 Mazda Mazda6. I was driving home from work today. I was driving on a road not far from my home and going about 40 mph. My foot was not on the gas but the car began to suddenly accelerate. It suddenly accelerated to over 50 mph. I began to brake, but it felt like I was trying to brake at the same time someone was pressing hard on the gas pedal. I put the car in neutral and pressed the brake as hard as I could. It was a definite hard push on the brake -- as if I had lost power brakes. There were cars ahead of me stopped in the road because of an accident. I managed to stop -- but barely. I almost hit the car in front of me after finally stopping my car when it surged forward several feet while my foot was firmly on the brake. I managed to get my car on the side of the road and put it in park. The engine continued to rev up and down as if I was about to start drag racing even though I did not have my foot on the gas pedal. This continued until I turned the engine off. When I turned the engine back on, the revving had stopped. A similar, but briefer incident happened a few weeks ago. I had to put the car in neutral, brake as hard as I could and use my emergency brake to stop the car. This issue happened the first time about 3 years ago. I almost ran into the plate glass window of a store. When I was able to stop the car and put it in park, the engine revved repeatedly (very, very high that time) and did not stop until I turned off the vehicle. I took the car to the Mazda dealership. They called in engineers and could never replicate the problem and said it was unlikely to ever occur again. Well now it has occurred twice in the past few weeks. This is an incredibly dangerous safety issue. Someone will be hurt or killed. I see that the Mazda tribute has been recalled for a similar issue. People complain on the internet of this issue with the Mazda 6. Please help!. It was 09/05/2013 when this car accelerates on its own issue happened.

At about 6pm on December 16, 2010 my dad was parallel parking along the side of the road outside our house, when his November 2009 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (4x2 automatic which just had its 5000 km service) suddenly accelerated forward with very high engine revolution (very loud) and collided with a Mercedes Benz e230 parked just 6 meters away on the side of the road (the impact was so strong that the e230 moved about 3 meters as evidenced by the tire skid marks)! this happened even when my dad was stepping hard on the brakes! after colliding with the mercedes, the montero did not stop but continued forward at high speed (still my father was stepping hard on the brakes!). My father saw a passing Toyota revo infront of him and a tricycle infront of the revo. So he decided to hit an electric post (68 meters away from our house) to stop the montero! fortunately, he missed the electric post by half a meter and instead side swiped our neighbor's wall and then collided with a palm tree. After hitting the tree, my father said that the montero still jerked forward a couple of times before stopping. After colliding with the Mercedes Benz, side swiping a wall, and hitting a tree, the airbags did not deploy! it was only very fortunate that my father shifted his body to the front passenger side so his head did not hit the windshield. Mitsubishi blamed the floor mat in its official investigation report! the same type of floor mat they are selling in their dealership! Mitsubishi did not even mention in its official investigation report why the airbags in my dad's montero did not deploy during the accident. My dad rejected Mitsubishi's official report but he accepted the offer from Mitsubishi to buy back his montero at 80% of original cost. Mitsubishi will not cover the damage to the Mercedes Benz because they said that the accident was not the fault of the montero. It was 12/16/2010 when this car accelerates on its own issue happened.

car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of Volvo XC70

The VIN of the problem Xc70 is YV4BZ98228_. There was crash involved with this Volvo Xc70. My 2008 Volvo Xc70 spontaneously accelerated as I prepared to park. This happened on two occasions so far, and I am frightened to get behind the wheel again. The experience in both cases was almost identical. The car lurched forward suddenly as I slowed the car to park it. In both cases, my foot was depressed firmly on the brake. The car only accelerated to a few miles per hour, but both times the car stopped only once it collided: the first time with a fence, and the second time with a porch. The brake was seemingly useless. A field engineer inspected our car after the second crash but concluded that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. My research online has revealed that sudden acceleration is an issue that Volvo did struggle with in many of their european models; however, according to Volvo, it was likely related to the fact that they ran on diesel fuel. I have found acceleration issues like mine reported with unleaded fuel engines in the us, but never with a 2008 Xc70. Volvo has yet to make reparations and we have been without a car for a month. The failure date was 09/03/12.

car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of Audi A4

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Audi A4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was WAUAF78E76_. I experienced unintended acceleration of my car when I started accelerating after the light turned green. I had no indication as to what was causing the car to accelerate. After putting the car in neutral, slamming on the breaks and using the emergency break the car finally stopped after going about a quarter of a mile. Once I got the car to stop, I kept the car turned on and called 911 who dispatched the fire department. I got out of my car because I was scared and didn't know what else to do. . I didn't know if it was ok to turn the car off. Because the accelerator was floored by the car mat the car automatically locked. The fireman had to break the window to get into the car and the fireman found the car mat lodged under the accelerator and had to rip it out from under the pedal. I had never had any indication prior to this incident that my car mat could move and get lodged. Per the fireman, this happens a lot with these types of car mats. I didn't get further explanation from him, but after talking to many people and scouring the internet I found that numerous other people have had the accelerator get stuck because of the car mat in their Audi's. In some cases it was the Audi dealership telling them the cause was the car mat. Audi refuses to recognize any flaw with the design and refused to reimburse me for my expenses associated with the incident. Luckily this occurred on a Sunday around 11:30am so there were very few cars on the road. Toyota recalled their cars with mats that slipped, why should Audi not have to fix this problem?. It was Sunday, January 19, 2014 when this car accelerates on its own issue occurred.

car   Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of BMW 328

The vehicle involved was a 2011 BMW 328i. There was crash involved with this problem. As I was moving my car from a small parking lot near my home, I was reversing the car and noticed there was a sudden acceleration and the car hit the base of the pole causing minor damage to my rear bumper. Since I felt the impact, I was very cautious and put the car in drive mode to exit the parking lot with very little gas applied, but the car took off suddenly and hit a parked car with a huge impact. It almost totaled the other car and my car was very badly damaged. Initial estimate to repair is around $7,911 by the BMW authorized body shop. I immediately took the car to the dealer next day asking them to check if my car was safe to drive. The dealership said the car has to be inspected by the BMW engineer, and tne dealer can't touch the car because of sudden acceleration issue. I called the BMW customer relationship dept. Right away, and they scheduled an engineer to come and look at my car. One week later, a bwm engineer came to the body shop and downloaded the data, and today I was notified by BMW that the car is safe to drive. I bought this car from a local BMW dealer as certified pre-owned vehicle last year with about 23k miles on it and still has the warranty. I am writing to you because my family doesn't feel comfortable and safe to drive this car. I have seen several complaints on bimmerfest and one on your site for the 2011 BMW 328i, regarding the sudden acceleration. I asked them BMW to replace the car, which they wouldn't do. I requested BMW to send a letter stating that the car is safe to drive along with a report about their findings, since they didn't want to replace my car. Not sure if they will send me one. As a good citizen with good driving record, I am really scared about driving this car which in my opinion is not safe. I am hoping that your department will investigate this matter carefully, and get a better resolution to my issue. Thank you. This car accelerates on its own issue occurred 04/28/2014.
