car   Car Throttle Sticking problem of Dodge Avenger

I have been having problems with my Dodge Avenger for about 40,000 miles now and have had it into multiple shops without the problem being solved. The electronic throttle control light comes on and off at random times either causing my car to shut off while im going down the road, cause power lag with no acceleration about 45 mph or shifting into different gears, or the engine light comes on along with the etc light and the car will idle very high then very low and repeat the process making the car unable to drive. The vehicle has shut off on me while going down interstate and highways and I've almost been hit several times because of it. I see lots of postings with the same issue but there are no recalls on this issue which dealerships do not know how to fix. I've been told to change the battery, the tpms was messing up, the throttle valve was sticking, improper fuel delivery, and that the car wasn't getting enough air. None of these once fixed were the cause of the car freaking out and now im forced to drive day to day with my son in the car hoping it works well enough that an accident wont happen. I've seen enough complaints about the electronic throttle control that there should have been a recall a long time ago to fix this yet it's been 4 years and still nothing is being done to help make peoples vehicles safe again that they paid for. This car throttle sticking problem happened on Oct. 13, 2010.

car   Car Throttle Sticking problem of GMC Sonoma

The vehicle is a 1997 GMC Sonoma. Vehicle throttle sticks at 1500rpm and will stick above 1500rpm if downshifted or increasing speed. The only way to lower the rpm to idle is shift to neutral a n d come to a complete stop -- firmly holding brake to maximum depression and then only after a few second delay. Upon entering any gear [automatic xmsn] the rpm will again go to 1500, but if brake pedal remains depressed for about 10sec the rpm will go back to idle. Any slick roads or mountain/steep downhill driving is extremely hazardous! check engine stays on and computer reading calls for replacement of a sensor which has been replaced 3 times. The directions say to let the new sensor "break in" by idling for 20 minutes minimum prior to driving. It does not work! this is a faulty design wherein a sensor or component malfunction results in throttle boost beyond operator control and is often at rpm's above 2500 !!! the malfunction is permanent and the incident occurs every day the vehicle is driven !!!. The failure date was Nov. 17, 2010.

The engine maintained its speed or accelerated on four separate occasions when I applied the brake and tried to stop. The worst incident occured when I tried to come to a stop at a red light with cars in front of me. I applied brake and car stopped but engine raced. I had to apply very strong pressure to brake to hold car in place. Engine was racing and car was pulling forward. I shifted to neutral, engine continued to race and then I heard a loud knocking sound come from engine like a washing machine makes when it is out of balance. I was very scared. I turned engne off and then at green light turned engine on and it was ok. This happened four separate times when the car had just over 200 miles on it, just over 400 miles, 723 miles, and 819 miles. I did not have my foot on both gas and brake, the mats are the Honda mats that come with car and are fastened to the floor and were not on the gas. This really happend, very scary. Reported to Honda and took car in twice. Honda said there were no codes and the brakes looked ok. They said to call american Honda which I did. I reported it as a serious safety issue. Honda said someone would get in touch with me the next day. Its been a week and no one has contacted me. I have owned the car for 40 days and driven it less than 850 miles and this has hppened four times and been in the shop twice. Honda says they cannot reproduce and that I should just let them know when it happens again. They have not tested anything with the idle or the throttle sticking are not concerned with my safety. Throttle stuck and went to over 60mph, at that point he was no longer concerned about the tachometer nor speed. The car stopped only after hitting the guardrails. Problem occurred on two occasions: December, 1999; and may 13, 2000. Reported to dealer in December, 1999 (so# 85066). Dealer found no problem with speed control. First incident resulted in vehicle running a "stop" sign at end of exit ramp at approximately 30 mph , but no crash. Second incident occurred on interstate highway. Second incident was corrected by turning off ignition and coasting to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. Incidents occurred with different drivers operating the vehicle. This car throttle sticking issue occurred Saturday, May. 13, 2000.

car   Car Throttle Sticking problem of Toyota Tundra

My 2009 Toyota Tundra was repaired by Toyota this past Friday as a result of the throttle body sticking open. . Ie would stall. After repairs, the truck drove fine for 2 hrs approx. After stopping for supper (1hr) I started my truck again. . . This time the engine accelerated in park upto 5,000 + rpms for 10-15secs and then down to 500 rmps. . . Then repeated this over and over. I waited til the rpms dropped to 500 and placed truck in gear to try to get it home. The truck accelerated and took off on its own. . . Almost taking me through a red light. I was able to press hard enough on the brakes to stop in time. . . . Then it took off again for another block without me doing anything but riding the brakes. I turned into a randalls parking lot when rpms dropped to 500 again,. . . Dodging people who were walking into the grocery store. When it dropped again, I pulled into a parking space and put truck into park. This, all while the engine was consistently changing from 500rpms upto 5,000+ rpms with no interruption's called the dealership, still shaking, but only one person was still at the dealership. . . He advised since they were closed that another dealer was open later. So I had truck towed there. My original repair, they would not cover under warranty (13,000 miles on truck) because they said I had violated the warranty by installing a fuel saving device, which had damaged the throttle body. I paid them to replace the throttle body assembly. . . And then (approx. 3hrs later) the truck decided to drive itself,. . . And I feared I was going to hit someone, both cars and pedestrians. I never thought what I had read about would happen to me. It was 08/06/2010 when this car throttle sticking issue occurred.

car   Car Throttle Sticking problem of Toyota Tundra

VIN of the vehicle was 5TBRT34151_. I own a 2001 Toyota Tundra. It has just about 59,000 miles. When I use the brake to slow down or stop, the truck will stall in traffic. I will have to restart the truck and it will stall. I will try to start it again and I have to gun the engine and hold the brake pedal so as not to crash into something, and hope the truck will move. If I go about 300 feet and apply the brake again, it may stall. I have had it to the dealer 3 separate times for this and each time they tell me it is 'gunk' that needs to be cleaned, or a sticky throttle. Problem started in March 2005, again in July 2005 and now in Nov. The service performed is clean carbon build up in throttle body. Perform fuel induction. I am fearful that the truck will stall and I will be in an accident. This problem occurred on Saturday, October 29, 2005.

car   Car Throttle Sticking problem of Volvo S80

The VIN of the car is YV1TS94D3Y_. I purchased a 2000 Volvo S80 from carmax in Feb. 2006. The car only had 26000 miles on it so I thought it was a great deal. I contacted the manufacturer to see if any and all recalls had been performed on the vehicle. They said the only thing needed to be done was to have the electronic throttle module system to be upgraded in the cars computer. On 5-11-06 the Volvo dealer performed the upgrade. Within one hour of picking up the car it began to rev and surge with the air conditioner on as if the throttle was sticking. After parking it to run an errand I tried to start the car and it would start but then immediately rev up and then die. I had to get it towed to carmax which it was warranted under. Now carmax had the vehicle towed to the Volvo dealer to have the electronic throttle control worked on. The Volvo dealer diagnosed the problem as needing to replace the e. T. C. Module, which they did. Now I drive the car home on 5-16-06. After two hours of the car sitting at my house I attempt to go somewhere but the car starts and immediately begins to rev like before and then dies. I will attempt to drive the car to the dealer tomorrow 5-17-06 to be fixed again. This problem occurred on May 16, 2006.
