car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The vehicle is a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. This is in regards to NHTSA action number: ea02015. This has been an ongoing problem with the accel pedal getting stuck. Dealer said it is normal which it is not. Happens randomly when maneuvering at lower speeds parking lots/streets etc. You have to give the pedal a firm push to get it unstuck and the truck lunges fwd. Someone is going to get hurt by this. I have seen many many complaints of this on the boards/chat rooms. I was with my young daughter driving and this occurred and she pulled out and pedal/throttle got stuck. She gave gas and lost control of vehicle narrowly missing semi. This is a major problem and gm needs to address. My independent mechanic says this is very common on this yrs chevy silverados and no fix exists. This issue happened on Sep. 11, 2006.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. Following an oil change and air filter replacement at a valvoline express shop, the technician used an air hose to blow out debris (seeds, nuts, etc. ) from the air filter box. Approximately one mile after leaving the shop, the gas pedal on the car went loose, and the engine kept revving, steadily increasing the speed of the car. I was able to slow the car by braking hard and eventually switching to neutral, and pulled the car safely to the side of the road. The engine continued to rev as though I had the gas pedal to the floor. When I contacted the valvoline shop, they sent out a manager and technician to check the car. They quickly found that one of the "nuts" from the air filter box had become stuck in the throttle assembly, causing me to lose control of the cars acceleration. After removing the obstruction, there have been no further problems. Although I was able to control the car and bring it safely to a stop, this could have resulted in a serious accident under other conditions (heavy traffic, higher speeds, etc. ). It seems that there should be a safety mechanism that recognizes when the brake is being applied while the throttle is wide open, and allows the driver to regain control. Also, I strongly believe that removing debris from the air filter box should be done with a vacuum rather than a high pressure air hose which essentially blows the debris throughout the engine compartment, potentially causing problems like this one. The affected vehicle was a 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser touring with 50,000 miles , and was traveling at approximately 40 mph when the accelerator failed. It was Jun. 5, 2010 when this car throttle stuck issue occurred.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Ford Mustang

The car involved is a 2006 Ford Mustang. The vehicle had a crash. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1ZVFT82HX6_. On Monday February 24 2014 at around 12:45pm, I was on my way home from work. I was sitting in my 2006 Ford Mustang gt in bumper to bumper traffic due to construction on the grand central parkway(queens NY) heading towards the van wyck expressway(east to brooklyn NY). As traffic started to move up slowly, I had pressed on the gas pedal to move forward and without hesitation the car jumps from 7 mph to full throttle. Even when I had applied the brakes ( I felt the brakes on the rotors but it didn't stop) the vehicle had stayed stuck on full throttle and had struck the vehicle in front of me. It bounced off the 1st vehicle and it was at this point I had placed both feet on the brakes, to the point where I was standing on them with my head hitting the roof of the car. The car proceeded on (still in full throttle and brakes applied) and smashed in between two other vehicles further up and after that collision thats when the car finally had came to a stop. I never heard or seen any vehicle take off on its own like that. Two days after the accident I had asked around on facebook on several Mustang enthusiast/club pages and no one has heard of this happening. A week later my insurance company totaled out my vehicle and left me with no car and now I'm left to pay $3000 dollars difference on my loan and $500 to my insurance company. I also asked on Ford's facebook page and I was given a number from a customer relations representative. I had called Ford and they said they never heard of this and "what will I like to do with this?". A friend of mine told me about car complaints. Com and I came across more than 20 complaints for the same problem. I also was told recently to check this website to file a complaint. I loved that car and that whole situation left me depressed and frustrated. This car throttle stuck issue occurred Feb. 24, 2014.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Honda Accord

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Honda Accord. Had an experience with unintentional acceleration. On my way to work, coming around 10 west to 710 south transition, I fully depressed the gas pedal to pass a very slow moving car, coming out of the ramp that merges into fast 710 south traffic. I would estimate the gas pedal was fully floored 2-3 seconds. Then I lifted pressure, as I had enough momentum to pass the slower vehicle, but noticed the throttle was still wide open. I was going to shift to neutral, but I quickly stabbed the pedal and the throttle unstuck itself. Wow! that was pretty nerve racking! it happened only once so far. The failure date was 05/01/2013.

The brake was engaged repeatedly and the gear was shifted into neutral however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The speed was reduced as the vehicle accelerated up an incline then the contact shifted into park. The engine began to roar loudly with a rapid increase in engine rpms. The engine was turned off and the vehicle came to a complete stop. A certified mechanic arrived on the scene to inspect the vehicle. The mechanic found that the accelerator pedal had become stop in open throttle position. The vehicle was able to resume as normal. The manufacturer was notified of the acceleration failure and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The dealer however was unable to duplicate the problem. In addition, an investigator inspected the vehicle and detected that the air filter plastic box was fractured, which caused fragments to remain stuck in the throttle. They also informed the contact that the air filter was improperly installed by a mechanic when performing a previous oil change. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable. It was Thursday, September 20, 2012 when this car throttle stuck issue happened.

I placed the car in neutral and shut the engine off, kept applying the brake until I safely got the vehicle to stop. I had the dealership look into the problem that same day to find out that the computer chip had failed. I dont want this to happen to anyone. car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Jeep Commander

The car was a 2010 Jeep Commander. During acceleration throttle became stuck. Vehicle started increasing in speed without the pedal being depressed. I initially held on the brakes for 3 consecutive compressions without any noticeable decrease in speed or rpm. Shifted car to lower gear along with brakes, still rpm and speed was increasing. Plan b was to shift into neutral and let the engine blow or shut vehicle off while driving on busy highway. In the midst of going through these actions vehicle stopped accelerating. Going to dealer first thing Monday morning, god only knows what would have happened if my wife and kids were in this vehicle when this negligent, unsafe, hazard occurred. This is totally uncalled for in a basically brand new vehicle, me, my son and the innocent pedestrians along the highway were in jeopardy when this safety incident occurred. This problem occurred on Saturday, February 11, 2012.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Kia Motor Forte

The vehicle was a 2012 Kia Motor Forte. The car had a crash. The VIN of this Forte is KNAFU4A29C_. I was backing out of a driveway approx. 3 feet when the car lurched backwards at full rpm while the brakes were applied and the gas pedal went all the way to the floorboard. The only way I could get the car to stop was to turn off the ignition. It was like the brakes weren't working and the throttle was stuck. This "problem" caused damage to a support beam of a carport causing it to fail and fall on a car parked underneath. I know there are similar complaints such as this on this exact car, why hasn't there been any investigations and/or recalls on this car? this is a very unsafe car. By the way, this was a rental car and no one wants to take responsibility. It was Thursday, July 4, 2013 when this car throttle stuck issue occurred.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Land Rover Discovery Ii

While driving our 2003 Land Rover Discovery Ii hse today, the throttle suddenly and unexpectedly stuck in the full position. My wife was able to avoid traffic, control the vehicle and get the transmission in neutral. The vehicle was towed to a Land Rover dealer, and they determined that the throttle butterfly valve had stuck. I researched this and came up with NHTSA case number 03v133000 which deal with this exact issue for this model year vehicle. The dealer claims there are no outstanding recalls for my vehicle and refused to replace the part under this issue. I find it highly coincidental that I am experiencing the exact issue described in the NHTSA case. In reviewing the case information there were other reports outside of the date range that Land Rover claims apply to this defect. I contacted the Land Rover corporate office and they said they were reviewing the case, but that the recall did not apply to my vehicle since the recalls are VIN specific. The service representative did admit that this problem does occur on other vehicles of this type. There was no warning of this failure and it could have resulted in a serious accident. This car throttle stuck issue occurred Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Lexus IS300

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Lexus is 300. VIN of the vehicle was JTHBD19274_. Car failed to stop at a red light under normal braking because engine failed to decelerate when pressure was removed from the pedal. Maximum force was applied to the brake pedal. The brake anti lock feature was activated and a collision with the stopped car ahead was barely averted. When stopped, the engine reverted to normal idle. The problem did not recur. Examination by a mechanic at the dealers shop failed to identify a computer fault or other cause. The car was returned without repair. I am not satisfied that a stuck throttle is not a repairable or abnormal condition. It seems to me be highly dangerous and merits more than a "well, its working now so come back when if it happens again. " sort of response. It was Oct. 1, 2008 when this car throttle stuck issue occurred.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Mazda Tribute

I had received two notices of recall on my Mazda Tribute for a possible problem with a stuck throttle. Approximately 4 or 5 months ago, I took my vehicle to the local Mazda dealer to complete the recall. Before this recall I had never experienced any problems with a stuck throttle. On the above date, I was returing to my home on a turnpike toll road. I was driving approximately 80 mph. As I attempted to exit the toll toad, my throttle stuck and would not allow my vehicle to slow down. This exit involved a sharp curve and a toll gate area. I made my way through the gate by constantly applying the brake. I finally exited the road and entered a parking lot. The engine continued to rev at a very high rpm. I placed the vehicle in neutral and then park. It continued to rev near the 5 and 6 rpm level. I turned it off and restarted it several times. It continued to rev and when I tried to put it back in drive, it jumped and raced forward. On December 24, 2013, I got the vehicle to the local Mazda dealer. As I pulled it into the dealership, the vehicle again started to rev up to 2 or 3 rpms. The dealership looked at the vehicle and tapped on a valve in the top of the motor. The engine then slowed down. At an expense of $235 dollars, the dealership told me it was this valve that needed replaced and it had nothing to do with the recall!!!!! then on January 6, 2014, I went to start my vehicle and it immediately started idling very high. I attempted to start and stop it many times with no results. I finally got it to my house by riding the brake and at times placing it in neutral. It was very icy at the time and the vehicle would surge and never stop the high reving of the rpms. Both of these incidents were very scary and occurred during poor weather conditions. Thankfully I was able to react in a calm matter and control the vehicle!. It was Monday, December 23, 2013 when this car throttle stuck issue occurred.

car   Car Throttle Stuck problem of Mercedes Benz 300

The car is a 1987 Mercedes Benz 300. Crash happened when the problem occurred. After being hit from the front passenger side, the throttle stuck in a full throttle mode. The ignition switch did not stop the vehicle, which remained in full throttle mode after turning to the off position, and the brakes were impaired to the point that I could not overpower the acceleration, causing me to be forced to find a location to crash my vehicle, which was a building. Evidently, the hood had pinned the throttle fully back, and the vacuum hoses, which are necessary to cut fuel to the diesel we severed. Also the vacuum hoses being cut negated the power assist to the brakes thus causing the malfunction. It was Wednesday, June 27, 2012 when this car throttle stuck issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Subaru Forester. On Monday at 4:50 pm I was driving n a school zone and realized that I was having to ride my breaks I also thought there was some funny noise from the engine. I rolled down my window and couldn¿t hear any thing. As I approached the stop sign my car would not stop and I pressed my breaks all the way down. The rpm¿s went all the way into the red and my car continued about 4 to 6 feet with breaks all the way down. When car finely came to a stop I placed it in park because I thought this my stop my car from going into gear again and the rpm¿s continued to rise more into the red. I was afraid and placed it in drive with foot on break to get it into the parking lot I took a right. When I had to stop in the lot the car would not stop and the rpm¿s went up all the way as my foot was on the break it went about 3 extra feet before coming to a stop. I placed it in park and quickly turned the car off. I turned the car on to see if it would reset but the rpm went all the way up again. A man claiming to be a mechanic looked at my throttles to make sure they were not stuck and took one finger and tapped on the throttle sensor. I started the care again and the rpm¿s were back to a normal amount. The dealers have not been able to replicate and have found no fault in the diagnostic testing. Cause unknow. The vehicle involved is a 2003 Toyota Tacoma. While driving in traffic the throttle stuck at above normal idle and the check engine light came on. I was able to exit the traffic but the idle would not come back to normal curb idle. What my mechanic has told me is that the throttle body assembly has failed and they can only get the part from the dealer. If this had happened on the freeway the outcome could have not been so good. I hope Toyota is aware of this problem and going to address the situation. The failure date was 12/10/2013.

The vehicle was a 2002 Toyota Echo. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JTDBT12372_. Stuck throttle on Jan 19th, 2012 when accelerator pressed to floor. Recovered by pulling up with foot. I asked them to just trim the card around the pedal, and they told me they couldn't do that. Tried to reproduce after dealer visit and was unable. Inspected on Feb 3rd, and it appeared like carpet might have been pulled back around hole in floor. I pushed it back into position, and then tried to reproduce the stuck throttle and was able.
