car   Carburetor problem of Chevrolet Venture

The vehicle having this issue was a 2000 Chevrolet Venture. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1GNDU03E1Y_. I have become aware of a problem with the intake manifold gaskets on the chevy Venture. A friend of mine had this problem, and after researching on the internet. I have become aware of a potential problem with this part, which is a major repair. On several internet forums, people have stated that a few dealers have fixed the problem under the waranty clause , even though the waranty has expired. This problem was present when I bought the van. I as of now have not expericed this problem, however, I would like your department to look into this. I still owe $2000 on my Venture, and would hate to have to incurr a repair bill, for something that existed when I purchased the van. Thank you for anything that you may be able to do. I am going to call the dealership to inquire about this potential problem. Dt.

car   Carburetor problem of Chrysler Sebring

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1C3EL65R74_. Within the first week after purchasing a 2004 Sebring convertible limited, the problem of the engine almost dying or dying started. This problem occurs more often at higher ambient temperatures. When coming to a stop the engine drops down to 200-250 rpm. When it recovers it overshoots the low idle speed causing the car to lunge forward. Several times the engine has died. The engine will restart immediately. One day as I was going through a green light a car turned right in front of me. I had to make a panic stop in the middle of the intersection and the engine died. I almost got rear-ended because the cars behind me were not expecting me to have to restart the engine. Your web site defines this as a safety issue because the driver has an unexpected event that puts the driver in a situation where the driver cannot safely control the vehicle. After starting the car and backing out of the garage the engine is running like a sewing machine. Suddenly the engine begins to run rough. It reminds me of the days of carburetor cars when the choke was stuck on. Suddenly it starts running like a sewing machine. Most mornings, but not everyday, after backing out of the garage and putting the car in drive then accelerating the car will stumble 1-4 times. The engine speed begins to come up and then stops accelerating, then suddenly accelerates again. This only happens shortly after the engine has been started. Once the engine warms up this problem will not happen. Continued 1 of 3 the consumer believed the fuel drains back to the tank when the vehicle sits overnight. After the vehicle is started the fuel system is not properly pressurized for a short period of time, which could be a result of a defective componet. This carburetor issue occurred Thursday, May. 6, 2004.

car   Carburetor problem of Ford Escape

The car was a 2006 Ford Escape. While driving to work at about 43 miles per hour, I went to accelerate, but the gas pedal was stuck - like it froze up. I was able to pull into a parking lot, stopped the car, and slammed on the gas pedal a few times until it loosened up. This happened again a couple of days later, but I was able to stop at a red light, and again slammed on the gas pedal until it gave in. Again this happened 2 days ago on my way to work, and had to pull off the street into a parking lot and slammed on the gas pedal until it loosened up. I looked on line for reviews on 2006 Ford Escapes, and saw that many, many other Ford Escape owners have had the same problem. I brought it yesterday morning to autonation Ford in brooksville, florida and it was determined that the body asy - carburetor throttle, cable asy - throttle control needed to be replaced. The service manager stated that there were no recalls on this, and that this was common in Ford Escapes. He stated that this was a safety hazard and advised that I shouldn't be driving the car the way it was. The repairs are costing me over $600, and with all the complaints that I read about on line, I feel that this should be a Ford recall, and customers should be reimbursed their costs to have this repaired. This carburetor issue occurred 11/06/2013.

car   Carburetor problem of GMC Yukon

I was driving on delaware route # 1 doing the speed limit (65mph) in my 2004 GMC Yukonxl when I lost power to the vehicle. Fortunately I was able to pull off of the highway on the right shoulder even within fast moving traffic. After assessing the situation I realize that my motor was still running with the dash indicators showing the engine light and the reduced power signal light on. When traffic had cleared I attempted to go back on the highway but found I could only travel between 35-40 miles per hour. Knowing that there was a gm dealer ahead in 15-20 miles I continued on rt #1 since the speed limit ahead was reduced to 55mph. When I reached the gm dealer I. G. Burton in milford delaware I immediately went to their service department. I explained my situation and was told that I probably had a bad throttle body (carburetor) and that it would have to be replaced. They seemed to say that this has been a common problem. I went ahead and had the work done at that point for a cost of $568. 32. It was 09/23/2009 when this carburetor issue happened.

car   Carburetor problem of Hyundai Elantra

I bought a brand new Hyundai Elantra on 5-8-03 and on 6-30-03 and again on 7-30-03 I have had to take the car back to the dealer to have service for the same problem, which I found out this last service call, had been a known problem with that particular car in that yr of model, and no one has a fix for the problem yet. The dealer I purchased the car from made no attempt to inform me of this problem before I purchased it, and the first dealer I took it to did not make any attempt to inform me of this known problem either. I feel that I should have been told, being that it is a major problem, there is a vaper lock problem, which causes the car to shut down while in the middle of driving at unpredictable times. It is very unsafe for me to drive it this way, being that at any given time, the car loses the ability to accelerate, and therefore offers a very high chance of me getting involved in an accident, where I do not have the driving power to move my car out of the way of on coming traffic. I am very , very upset about this, and as of yet, the only thing the dealer service department has told me is, " it is a problem that our company is working on finding a fix for, but as of yet, there is no cure for this problem". That being the case, I do not feel I should have to keep this car. I do not feel safe driving in it alone, let alone aking my 9yr old daughter, and 5yr and 4 yr old sons into this car with me at all. This carburetor issue occurred Monday, June 30, 2003.

The car was in for service 2 times in 2 weeks. Finally the engine light started flashing (3rd time). Supposedly the car was fixed. 3 days later the dealer's service department called me at Saturn corp. 's request to immediately return the car as the engine could blow up. The engine had a cracked cylinder which caused coolant to leak into the engine with about 650 miles. Also, another Saturn Ion with 2500 miles was sitting in the dealer's lot with a cracked cylinder in the engine. I was released from the sale on April 17, 2003. I took a 2nd Saturn Ion 3 on April 17, 2003. This car has jerky steering problems coming out of turns and sever transmission problems. The car kicks when turning on the ignition, engine gets racketing when put into reverse, when changing gears - kicks, slides, and will surge, and bounce through gears between 30 mph to above 70 mph. The service manager said, "all the Ions drive this way. There's nothing wrong with the car". This car has been in for service 4 times. Each time the car is returned worse than the time before. car   Carburetor problem of Suzuki Verona

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Suzuki Verona. I have had a series of safety concerns involving a recall notice that was issued due to a defect which exists in all 2004 Suzuki Verona passenger cars. The engine control module (ecm) has a program fault which causes the fuel to air ratio to become too lean in some circumstances, results in engine stalling. If stalling occurs, this can result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash could occur without prior warning. I purchased a 2004 Suzuki Verona ex 2. 5l automatic, vehicle id kl5vm52l54b097209 on 10/04/03 at the auburn Suzuki dealership, giant of the valley. I returned to the dealer a dozen times for the same idle fluctuation issue as well as the check engine light coming on. I was told that the car was fine and that I could continue to drive it even with the check engine light on. I was told that they were working the check engine light issue. On 5/9/05 my car is dropped off at Suzuki. On 5/10/05 I received a call (voice message on my cell phone) from jim golden at 5:09 p. M. Stating that they ordered a throttle body assembly and that it would resolve the issues of idle dropping and idle quality. On 5/11/05 I returned jim golden’s call at 7:00 a. M. And stated that I was not convinced that the throttle body assembly would fix my car and requested a refund. I also stated that I was filing for the washington state lemon law at which time I was told that the district representative would call me. On 5/12/05 the district representative, leonard smith calls me and states that there is nothing he can do about it. This is a safety issue and want a repurchase of the 2004 Suzuki Verona. This issue happened on May. 13, 2005.

car   Carburetor problem of Toyota RAV4

The car is a 2006 Toyota Rav4. Sluggish throttle response in 2006 4 cyl Rav4. Since we owned our new 2006 Rav4 we have notice a very sluggish throttle response when stepping on the gas to accelerate either from a stop or when we try to increase speeds. The delay can be up to a couple seconds before the engine revs up and accelerates. This appears to be a dangerous issue when pulling out into traffic and may cause us getting hit because the car cannot get out of its own way. I had thought it may have been a carburetor thing or clogged filter but there are many message boards online where similar complaints are being expressed. This appears to be an issue either with this engine and/or this model. I hope your agency would look into it. This problem occurred on May. 31, 2009.

car   Carburetor problem of Volvo V70

The car involved is a 2000 Volvo V70xc. The VIN of this vehicle is YV1LZ56D8Y_. My son's 2000 Volvo 70 xc failed due to a failied electronic throttle module (etm). As a retired engineer I wanted to know why. I have found that it is a common complaint for the 1999, 2000 and 2001 series 60,70 and 80 models at the time of failure the car first exhibits hesitation, surging and erattic idle. At failure it goes into a limp- home mode of 20 miles per hour or stalls. From your web site I have found 101 cases listed for this failure. I have performed failure analysis on 5 units and have identified the problem. It is the wearing out of the throttle position sensor potentiomenter. Volvo has consistantly kept the dealers and customers in the dark and blamed the problem on a dirty throttle bore and other erroneous causes. Other than the cost of repairs, about $1000, is the realization that the replacement part is of the same design and it too will fail, one correspondent reporting 3 failures of the same type. The failure appears to be accelerated by heat, thus northern tier states have fewer failures than southern states. There are about 860,000 cars world wide with over 250,000 in the us. I estimate that more than 80% will fail, one or moer times, within 100,000 miles. To date no one has been injureid or killed that we know of but stalling on a busy freeway is a dangerous situation. I can send you my reports or you can pick them up off of the internet. I also have failed parts for your examination. Please have an investigator contact me. With a direct e-mail address for the investigator I can send my data. Don willson, 970 266-9797, donwillson@comcast. Net. This carburetor problem happened on 09/09/04.

Brought car to Volvo dealer and car was repaired for $1332. 50. Repair included replacement of: electronic throttle body($588. 50) with software download($28. 00) to allow etm to function along with gasket($4. 00). Replacement of mass air flow meter($234. 21) total labor/parts= $1254. 71 + $75. 29 tax + $2. 50 enviromental fee??= $1332. 50 I unfortunately do not have old part. Please note that now @ 30,000 miles after replacemnt on 12/1/2003 the electronic throttle body is showing the "signs" of a need for replacement again. car   Carburetor problem of Cadillac Deville

The car involved was a 1997 Cadillac Deville. The passenger compartment, began to smell gasoline, so I did stop in a gas station, open the engine compartment(the hood) and noticed a big gas leak on the gasoline rail close to the carburetor or fuel burner, so I decided to stop there and have towed the vehicle to san antonio, texas. . . The mechanic charged me 560. 00 to change the complete rail for a metal one with the guarantee that this one will not happen the same thing, because is a metal one not a plastic one that the car have originally installed. . . car   Carburetor problem of Jaguar XJ8

The car was a 1998 Jaguar Xj8l. The car had a crash. Related to Jaguar service action publication number 303-s514, "throttle closed position operation" this is a known defect for Jaguar. In the Jaguar service bulletin, Jaguar states "under exceptional circumstances this concern could cause the engine to cut out. . . The engine should restart without difficulty once the vehicle has come to a complete standstill. " there have been numerous complaints reported as a result of this "complete standstill" happening on major motorways where the flow of traffic is in excess of 60mph. My 1998 Jaguar Xj8l has had the service action performed, which replaced the original throttle body assembly with the exact same throttlebody from the same vendor. The new parts used for the replacement is the same one that fails, it is defective and only comes with a one year warranty. The car is stalling again, and Jaguar refused to pay for the repair. On Monday morning, March 17, 2008 while driving to work, my car recently stalled while heading on I-35n through austin texas, at which time the traffic volume was heavy and the flow of traffic was near 70 mph, and I was forced to make an emergency exit for a construction barricade. In doing this, another vehicle traveling behind me had to veer out of the way to avoid a rear-end collision, and pummeled through the orange construction barrels. I had to also pull hard into the construction barrels to avoid the collision, and my vehicle suffered front panel damage. Both of our vehicles suffered damages as a result, and both myself, and the other vehicles driver suffered whip lash injuries. I am currently under the care of dr viet tran, for a tore disc vertebrae caused by whiplash, and will be making regular visits to a physical therapist. This carburetor issue occurred March 17, 2008.
