car   Carrier/rack problem of Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The vehicle was a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. About a week after purchasing the car I realized that none of the gages on the control panel were accurate. My speedometer sticks and reads random speeds so I never know how fast I'm going, my gas gage registers random amounts so I have to keep track of my fuel using my odometer. My oil and radiator gages just don't work with the exception of an occasional blip. I read that this vehicle has the same control panel as another gm truck that was recalled for the same reason. One of these days I'm going to get a speeding ticket because I never know how fast I'm driving. It's frustrating. This carrier/rack issue occurred Sunday, May 15, 2011.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Chrysler Pacifica

The vehicle is a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The VIN of the problem Pacifica is 2A8GF78496_. Rust issue on front engine cradle I am from south charleston, wv resident and recently discovered through my dealers mechanic that I had a badly corroded engine cradle. We bought the car used and it just turned 100k miles. Dealer denied the recall, there is is a small window of vehicles manufactured between Feb. 23, 2004 and March 31,2004, a pretty small window. A couple of calls to Chrysler customer assistance has fallen on deaf ears. The dealer and Chrysler are not budging. It is not the money, it is the principle of a design problem that Chrysler is not fully standing behind. For reference, the Chrysler warranty bulletin is no:d-10-34 dated March 16, 2012. Subject is listed as (x26) front engine cradle extended warranty 2004-2005 Chrysler Pacifica's. We have a 2006 and have the same issue and Chrysler needs to recall all of the models affected! I have 3 children and a wife and we depend on this vehicle. Only had it one year and couldnt get it pass the 1st inspection due to the rusted out cracked engine cradle. Mechanic states it is not safe to drive!!!! I cannot get any explanation as to quite why that is from Chrysler despite numerous contacts with the customer care people from Chrysler and/or dealership. Apparently my best hope is that if I pay for the repair myself I might get a refund later if Chrysler decides to expand the group of covered vehicles. Help us please thank you. It was May. 1, 2014 when this carrier/rack issue happened.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Ford Explorer

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Ford Explorer. The VIN of this Explorer is 1FMDU74W94_. Rear glass lift gate: cracks appeared in the rear hatch on both sides of the rear Ford logo. ( I now notice many Ford Explorers with same cracks). Top right glass hinge twisted significantly and top left glass hinge twisted slightly. The fastening bolts for both glass hinges are rusted through. This resulted in the rear glass window shifting, apparently causing the cracks in the tail gate. I contacted sunshine Ford's service dept. In newburgh, NY and was told Ford is not responsible for fixing/replacing this defect. They chose their words carefully. They emphasized that "my model year" was not recalled for this defect. I asked if "any" Explorers had a recall for this defect. They would not say; but instead repeated,"my model year" was not recalled for this defect. Nhtsa has already received consumer complaints of injuries from owners whose lift gate glass broke off its mounting hinge while open, and caused head injuries. It is only a matter of time before a rear lift glass panel detaches from an Explorer in motion on a highway. That could easily lead to a multi vehicle accident along with multiple fatalities. I checked and Ford had a similar part recall for 2002 & 2003 Explorers. Ford changed the part then and has not met the # of complaints to be forced to recall 2004 and up Explorers. Unfortunately, I think many Explorer owners check with the dealer as to whether or not there was/is a recall and give up upon hearing no. We need to get anyone we know with this problem to file a complaint with the NHTSA. It is only a matter of time before some innocent person dies as a result of this "known" defect! as I understand it, this is a known defect for which Ford is not willing to take responsibility. Ford should fix this problem at no cost. It was 04/29/2014 when this carrier/rack issue occurred.

car   Carrier/rack problem of GMC Envoy

The vehicle was a 2006 GMC Envoy. VIN of the vehicle was 1GKDT13S76_. I have had this issue 3 times -8/2012, 2/2013, 3/2014 - so I am on the 4th ignition switch in this car, mileage now approx 108,000. The 4x4, stabilitrak, abs and emerg brake lights come on then it beeps repeatedly. Sometimes concurrently, sometimes not the air blower stops working as well. This 3rd time, after the lights had been coming off/on for a few days, turning the blower on would trigger the lights to come on. For each of the 3 times, the GMC dealer has recommended replacement of the ignition switch (2x at my cost) on the most recent repair a voltage spike was acknowledged but the option to track this by installing inline fuses was not even offered until I had taken my issue to a higher authority. I declined as I don't care to put more money in a car that even one of the dealerships employees recommended I just sell and buy new. My concern is whether this car is a hazard to me and others? the service manager said when this occurs the ignition is essentially off and the car could stop but another person told me that no, it's another leg of the ignition and its okay. I don't know who to believe. This problem occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Honda Pilot

The keys for the 2012 Honda Pilot are very cheaply made. Our vehicle was purchased in December 2011. After two years of normal driving, the plastic key fob part of the key started to crack and eventually broke in half. The key is now useless. Replacement keys are $200 at the dealer which requires an hour appointment to program a new key. Keys should last the life of the vehicle, not two years. This carrier/rack problem happened on Jan. 1, 2014.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Hyundai Elantra

The car was a 2009 Hyundai Elantra touring. I was driving back home and approaching a stop when my srs airbag light came on, indicating malfunction of airbag. No airbags were deployed, but light would not go away. Brought it into authorized Hyundai service center, and they stated right front seat track sensors have failed. The cost for replacing this part is extremely expensive, and driving with this light on I think would be a safety hazard if I got into a car accident. I have seen other reports and complaints of other owners having similar problem. Can you please investigate. Thank you. The failure date was Feb. 24, 2014.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Jeep Wrangler

The car involved is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x rhd 4x4. While trying to put gas into my 2007 Jeep jk Wrangler unlimited, fuel started to pour out the underside. I took my vehicle to the mechanic and they informed me that a large crack was on the filler neck that is attached to the fuel tank. They also informed me that due to the discoloration of the plastic inlet it has been leaking for a while. Upon removing the tank, they also discovered that the spring inside the nozzle is highly defective. Apparently, the spring is supposed to push back once the fuel tank is full. As a Jeep owner for years I’m extremely angry that an inexpensive part made poorly could of cost the life of my family, friends and anything within range if a fire erupted. Chrysler should recall these defective tanks immediately. I can provide photos of the filler neck and nozzle. This carrier/rack issue occurred Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

Now its March 2014 and I had the same think happen, I heard a loud pop looked around and saw nothing until the next day. car   Carrier/rack problem of Lincoln Aviator

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Lincoln Aviator. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Lincoln Aviator is 5LMEU88HX4_. As I was exiting a store and walking toward my vehicle, I noticed what looked like a black streak on the back of my liftgate. When I was closer, I saw that it was a crack in the back of the lift gate on the right side of the emblem of the vehicle from the bottom of the back window to the bottom of the lift gate. This crack was not there when I parked the vehicle to enter the grocery store because I had to walk around the back of the vehicle to make my way into the store and always look at the back end to make sure that I had pulled in far enough for others to pass. At first, I thought that someone had backed into my vehicle but there were no other marks, dents, scuffs, etc. I was curious to find out what would have caused this and found that this same crack has occured to many other owners of Lincoln aviatiors and well as Ford explorers and Mercury mountaineers. Further research has indicated that this fracture was, in fact, a design flaw that was not addressed at the time of manufacture. So disappointed. car   Carrier/rack problem of Mazda RX8

The car is a 2007 Mazda RX-8. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JM1FE17347_. I purchased a 2007 Mazda RX-8 new from a Mazda dealer. I started noticing that the dashboard on the passenger side starting cracking around the area where the air bag is located. I have reached out to ocean Mazda and to Mazda USA. No one took the time to call me back. I am very upset and concerned that the air bag may deploy without warning since the dask is cracked or worst case scenario that the air bag will not deploy correctly when in a collision. This very is in great condition with very low miles and should not have a dashboard that only cracks around the perforation lines of the passenger side airbag. car   Carrier/rack problem of Mercedes Benz S Class

The vehicle having this issue was a 2003 Mercedes Benz S Class. The srs system (airbags) have been deemed inoperable by the dealer and may either deploy at any time or not deploy at all in a collision. This is due to a defective seatbelt buckle and a defective passenger recognition sensor pad located in the front passenger seat which disables/enables the airbags functionality. Both a very common defect in the 2000 to 2006 model year Mercedes Benz S Class vehicles. The seatbelt buckle contains a sensor that eventually fails for no apparent reason or warning which compromises the air bag's functionality. The passenger recognition sensor pad located in the seat eventually malfunctions due to fatigue. This also disables the functionality of the srs system. This malfunction has recently been addressed and recalled by BMW for the same issues but Mercedes Benz has yet to issue a recall campaign also the gear shifter is stuck in park and can not be shifted in reverse. This is due to a small plastic part located in the shifting mechanism which is released by a solenoid when the brake pedal is depressed. The plastic part eventually cracks and renders the car inoperable. The part is not available nor produced by Mercedes Benz and the entire mechanism must be replaced by the dealer at the owner's expense. The cracked part can also affect the safety of the driver and pedestrians. If it cracks while the car is in drive, the shifter can not be moved forward to neutral or park and will remain stuck in drive due to a broken piece of plastic blocking the shifter from moving. This is another extremely common and dangerous defect in the model year 2000 to 2006 S Class and has affected and left thousands of motorists stranded. This problem occurred on 06/28/2013.. car   Carrier/rack problem of Mercury Mountaineer

I purchased a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer on 2/15/14 and I took it on a road trip on 2/16/4 with my grandkids. After entering the highway and gaining speed I started to smell a strong burnt rubber and exhaust smell. The smell was very toxic and stuck to our clothing. On 2/18/14, I took it to the dealer for his mechanic to take a look at it. The mechanic said there was some degreaser that overflowed from a cupler and leaked onto the exhaust. I asked if there was a leak and the mechanic responded by saying not really, which meant there was a leak. The mechanic assured me that the problem was taken care of, but if it still occurs, they would send it in for two days. I continued to smell the toxic smell and on 2/19/14 the hatch on lift gate just cracked. Also when I turn at a low speed, I hear a strange sound and vibration, coming from the tire area. I've heard of numerous issues and complications with the Mercury Mountaineers. I dont want my grandchildren nor my life put in danger. A driver should be ensured with safety when driving a vehicle. Ford doesn't care about their consumers to sell defective and nonsafe vehicles. Please recall this vehicle as it has too many issues that can be life threatening, like the rollover rate. It was Feb. 16, 2014 when this carrier/rack issue happened.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Mercury Grand Marquis

The vehicle is a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. Plastic intake manifold on 4. 6 liter engine found to be cracked and leaking coolant. The loss of coolant results in the vehicle becoming disabled and/or unsafe to drive. Leaking coolant is also toxic to children and animals, as they are more likely to be in contact with coolant on the ground or garage floor. This defective part (plastic intake manifold) was identified by Ford motor company as defective and quietly settled in a class action lawsuit. Replacement parts have been redesigned. However, Ford did not contact customers with this model car to notify them of the defective part or to offer resolution. Earlier models of this engine (and all other engines) used a metal intake manifold. These were not problematic. Intake manifolds are not a moving part of the vehicle engine, and are not subject to ware. The plastic material used in the problem manifolds are not able to withstand the normal temperature fluctuations of a vehicle engine and are therefore prone to failure. Ford has been contacted in an attempt to resolve this issue, but the company has declined to offer any resolution whatsoever. This carrier/rack problem happened on Thu., Aug. 15, 2013.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Mitsubishi 3000GT

The car was a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000gt. My car is well kept and garaged at night. In November 2012, I was having trouble with the car and was told by my mechanic of 20 years that my "total front end" on the car needed replaced. This required the replacement of gaskets, an oal flex, rack & pinion, and a wheel alignment. It was a very expensive job with the explanation given that it was "worn out. " now, the steering is a problem with strange sounds and the periodic movement of the steering wheel when driving. An inspection of that disclosed that now, the "intermediate shaft on the steering wheel" needs replaced. After researching the internet, I am finding out that there have been several cars recalled for this problem and would like to know if that is the case for this car. I have not received any notices for this. I love my car but am wondering why such an expensive car (at the time of purchase) is having all of these problems now. I was even told that the suspension will be another future problem because they manufacturer purposely sealed them when they were made which makes them impossible to service and will require replacement. This was never told to me when I purchased it. Please advise if I have any recourse with the manufacturer for these repairs. Thank you. It was Nov. 23, 2012 when this carrier/rack issue happened.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse spyder. The VIN of the problem Eclipse is 4A3AE45G93_. I bought an used 2003 Eclipse and at the time I didn't realize how badly cracked the dashboard was. To my surprise, I have not been able to find an used dashboard in good condition. . . Every single 2003 Eclipse I've found and seen has the same issue and after doing some research, there has not been a recall for this obvious manufacturing defect. The only solution Mitsubishi offers is to replace it with a brand new (yet same poor quality) part. How can we (eclipse owners) get a full or partial credit from Mitsubishi, even if the temporary solution is to install a similar part?. This carrier/rack problem happened on June 24, 2013.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle was a 2003 Saturn Ion. Crash was involved with this problem. I was driving down a boulevard, I was doing 40 mph there was a police car in front and there was maybe about 2 car length distance from him. The light hit yellow and I saw him brake so I started braking as well but my car would not brake. The acceleration continued increasing, I didn't know what to do. I was slamming on the brakes but my car did not stop. My car slammed into the police car within seconds. My car was destroyed. My hood was bent in half, my front bumper scratched & peeled. The bumper stood on the car only because I kept trying to brake and the car went in an angle where it went under the cops car. Both my side fenders cracked and my front light was destroyed. The whole car frame is destroyed and I was held at fault of this accident. My insurance went up, I didn't get no money to help fix my car nor check the problem. If there is way I can get any type of help I would truly appreciate it. 5 months later the same situation happened again thank god I was not driving my vehicle it was parked. It was just accelerating on its own, I didn't know what to do. I left it parked for a week and when I turned it on it was fine. Im scared that this will happen again, please help me out. car   Carrier/rack problem of Saturn ION

On Friday we got our 2006 Saturn Ion out of the gm service department after having a frozen air compressor and ripped serpentine belt replaced ($1400), along with a transmission line. After driving and stopping throughout the day on the following Monday, I was unable to turn the vehicle engine off after I put the car in park in the driveway of my home. I tried several times to turn the key to the off position, but it was locked. I put the car in reverse and it moved fine, but when I drove back into place and tried to shut it off again, the key wouldn't budge so the engine continued to run. We drove it back to the dealer who wanted to charge us again to have the vehicle serviced. We also noticed the coolant light came on, even though we had all the fluids checked two weeks prior when getting an oil change. The dealer said to disconnect the battery to shut the engine off. This didn't work. Another reliable source instructed us to disconnect the distributor cap to avoid the engine running on the alternator. After several attempts to find a distributor cap, we realized there was none. A neighbor came and disconnected a fuse. The key is still lodged in the ignition. We have had multiple problems with this vehicle, beyond what would be considered normal wear and tear maintenance: power steering replaced and the gas tank replaced because of a crack in the nipple. I am petitioning that this vehicle be recalled as it was in certain "hot" states. The extreme temperatures experienced in mid-east states, coupled by inadequate service and materials have created circumstances which are no less than those experienced in the initial states where recalls happened. What also should be noted is that consumer report document 491 complaints regarding these issues. This carrier/rack issue occurred Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Subaru Impreza Wrx

The vehicle involved is a 2008 Subaru wrx. I recognized a squeeking sound every time I depressed my clutch to shift the car. Having had an oil change, I wasn't scheduled for car maintenance for 3 months or 3,000 miles. When I took my car to my mechanic for service, I asked them to check the squeeking sound. The technician found a that the structure of the firewall at the clutch and brake pedal assembly was failing - the spot welds were shattered. The technician removed the wiper blade assembly and found that the pedal assembly flexes to the point of moving the firewall out at the clutch master and that the firewall is cracked at the clutch cylinder. After researching the issue, the technician learned the problem is inherent in this particular year and model, as well as in the 2009 model. The technician recommends removing the dashboard, brake booster, master cylinder, and clutch cylinder in order to identify and weld the broken pieces of the bracket that should be holding the clutch pedal assembly in place. This requires only welding and replacing the clutch pedal assembly, as well as flushing the brake and clutch fluid. The overall concern with this structural failure is that the degradation of the firewall and clutch assembly will create an issue where my safety is at risk when I lose the ability to drive the vehicle because shifting will fail. In a low or high speed situation, I would need to down or up shift my car to help avoid collision or lessen the impact of a collision. Without this ability, I put my life, my passenger's life and other drivers' lives in danger. Given that this is a widespread issue with the make, model and year, I believe Subaru should issue a recall. I am especially concerned to find that my particular car is on the pull down menu with the ntsb, and until my car started to fail, I heard nothing from the ntsb, Subaru or the dealerships regarding this issue. Response expected. This carrier/rack issue occurred Friday, February 7, 2014.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Suzuki SX4

The car is a 2009 Suzuki Sx4. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JS2YC41449_. Two tpms sensors failed. The first sensor failed at about 31000 miles and was replaced under warranty. Then at around 50,000 miles the second tmps sensor failed after warranty had expired. The failure is mechanical in nature. The threaded valve stem of the tpms sensor develops hairline cracks refulting in slow air leaks, which develop into larger leaks winthin weeks, which leads to the tpms warning light going off in the instrument panel, and eventually, in the need to replace to tpms sensor due to the air leak. Failure to check the tire's air pressure within a day or two can result in a flat tire. There is a great deal of evidence in internet forums that this is a widespread Suzuki Sx4 issue, hinting at an underlying fault with the tpms sensors. It was Monday, April 2, 2012 when this carrier/rack issue happened.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Toyota Camry

The car was a 2004 Toyota Camry solara. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 4T1CA38P64_. About 4 years after ownership the whole dashboard started to crack to a point where it looks like a puzzle. We took a ride to palm beach Toyota, which is where we purchased the car, and one of their workers asked why we were there. My husband explained the problem and he told my husband not to waste his time cause other people had gone in with the same problem and they were doing nothing about it because it's caused by the sun. The car is always in the garage. My husband was so upset he left the dealer. We are very upset because we paid a lot of money for this vehicle. We have had lots of cars and nothing like this have ever happened. I truly believe Toyota should be held responsible for the repair and also sure that lots of other people have the same problem. Thank you for any help you can provide. The failure date was 10/06/08.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Volvo XC90

The vehicle is a 2005 Volvo Xc90. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was YV1CZ91115_. I bought this car at 12/12/2013 when I test drove the car the dealer had the radio on and I never suspected any noise at the time. After I bought the car I kept hearing this knocking noise at first I thought is was the ski rack making the noise then when my husband drove it he said it was coming from the tires so I took the car to my mechanic and he check it a out and found multiple problems the suspension, inner tie rods, axles, sway bar, steering, bushings etc his reply was how did this car pass inspection with all the problems available take the car back and ask the dealer to fix the problems. I took the car back and ask the dealer to comply they would not I told them they had received a faulty inspections on the car so I took it to another mechanic same response. I then called the safety inspectors and they came out to check out the car and found nothing. I then took it to another dealer and they reported the same problems and added a cracked engine mount. I then asked the inspector to come and look at all the things that Volvo found that the safety inspectors missed he agreed and saw but only wrote a report I still have a broke car that was faulty inspected. I want the dealer to fix my problem and they have refused I could sue them for getting a faulty inspection and selling a lemon but I fell like I am stuck I need to know what to do from here I have already paid for several things the rack and pinon is the most important I have to fix but expensive and the bushings and tie rods are going to be the next thing I repair I really don't have the money to fix them I am paying 7000. 00 for a used car and I fell that the dealer and the inspectors are crooks and used a faulty inspection to sell a broke car please help. car   Carrier/rack problem of Volvo XC60

The vehicle involved was a 2011 Volvo Xc60. I purchased the thule "double decker surfboard carrier 809" in April 2011. It is advertised as having a three board capacity. I used it as a single short board carrier. My board is only 6' 6". It was attached to a thule cross bar system installed on my 2011 Xc60 3. 2 Volvo. The rear rack is divided into two sections with each section secured by two bolt heads that float in a aluminum channel for width adjustment. The surfboard is mounted on the rack and is secured by a strap with a key locking mechanism. I travel 40 miles on the freeway each way to the beach at least once per week. The system has a large flat surface area that results in a large wind resistent platform. The rack has the appearance of being very durable. While traveling approximately 65 - 70 miles per hour in the slow lane of the freeway the rear passenger side section ripped out of the aluminum channel causing my surfboard to launch like a missle. Fortunately the taffic was light and no vehicle was directly struck although my board was run over numerous times. The break-away section dangled on the rear of my roof still secured by the strap system. Upon inspection of the remains it became clear that the bolt head that secured the system in the aluminum channel was to small for an operational enviorment of significant wind resistence/turbulance. I contacted thule 4 weeks ago re this problem and they failed to respond. Sport chalet, an official thule distributor, upon inspecting the channel and bolt system offered me a complete refund. The bolt head on this system is undersized for the forces it has to withstand. My use was for a single short board but this system is advertized for up to three long boards. I fear that another end user who travels the freeway like I do may experience a similiar catastrophic system failure with perhaps a more deadly result. Sale of thiis rack system should be immediately halted until fixed. This carrier/rack issue occurred Aug. 20, 2011.

car   Carrier/rack problem of BMW X5

The vehicle is a 2012 BMW X5. The VIN of this vehicle is 5UXZW0C58C_. I pulled into a gas station, and as I approached the pump and put on brakes, I heard a crack. After I pumped my gas, I started my car, and a battery light came on along with an indication that there was a "charging error". I attempted to drive off, but I could not turn my steering wheel left or right. My husband looked on the hood, and noted that a belt was hanging down and fluid was spewed everywhere. My car was towed to the dealer for repair. My invoice indicates that the alternator tensioner bolt was broken that connected the alternator belt to the engine (?) and had to be repaired. This is troubling because this bolt was a replacement bolt. That is, when I had my vehicle serviced in December 2012, I was informed that there was a recall on an aluminum bolt, and my invoice from that service visit indicates that the "alternator pulley bolt" was replaced. I am troubled because the replacement bolt was supposed to address the recall issue, but the replacement bolt broke in the exact manner that the recall was supposed to prevent. I am a bit troubled that a replacement bolt, which was replaced as a result of a recall, malfunctioned. This appears to be a safety issue that wasn't addressed properly by BMW the first time. This problem occurred on Jan. 6, 2014.

car   Carrier/rack problem of Buick Enclave

The car was a 2011 Buick Enclave. The VIN of the car is 5GAKRBED2B_. My vehicle was originally equipped with michelin latitude tour 255/60r19 tires. At just over 16,000 miles I noticed cracks in the sidewalls. At 20,000 miles a representative from michelin assured me that it was not a concern. At 22,000 miles I presented the vehicle to the selling dealer and was provided with a service bulletin which stated that the stance of the manufacturer was that the condition was only incidental environmental damage and posed no safety concern. Since that time, I have contacted both the tire and vehicle manufacturers with no resolution. I can provide case numbers and emails. The tire manufacturer has issued a recall for this model tire but they tell me that the numerical run of my tires is not included. Possibly the scope of the recall is too narrow. My contention is that this is a defective product and a major safety concern for myself, my family, and other motorists. Because the condition has worsened so much in so few miles, I feel that michelin and general motors need to address the problem immediately. The tires should be replaced under warranty, not at the pro-rate policy now in place. Any assistance with this situation would be greatly appreciated thank you. car   Carrier/rack problem of Jaguar X-type

The car is a 2007 Jaguar X-type. Transfer case burnout had internal manufacture defects. Temperature coolant sensor over heated and completely melted, causing car to overheat. Driverside door panel clips detoriated. Dimmer light knob had 2 replacements and continued to brake. Car went for servicing, car was fine before servicing, car came back from dealership with break pad and rotor problems. Dealership replaced original car break pads with faulty pads to damage rotors and have me as a customer pay for a service that is not warranted. Car also came back from dealership with an engine tick and tire grinding sound that it never had, dealership service manager said it's normal to get out of engine inspection when these sounds are new sounds that had never existed. Gas cap filler came cracked at time of purchase, car was taken to dealership for that replacement, car was brand new with this defect existing at time of purchase. Car leather seats are deteriorating, fading, peeling, chipping and cracking. Passenger side visor snapped off. Driving traction stability light comes on and off with out being switched on. Car feels like it has no shocks, car rides over small rode bump and feels like it ran into a big whole in the rode, when pavement is completely smooth, dealer says shocks are fine, but the car did not have this effect until it came out of service for the defective transfer case. Motor cars of charleston, wv. After they were unable to repair a Jaguar x-type that we had bought on 08/26/2004. We then moved to California in 06/2005 and my husband drove the car cross-country to CA without any problems. On 08/05/2005 the car was first presented for a scheduled 10,000 mile maintenance to Jaguar of south bay, 3111 pacific coast highway, torrance, CA. Since then, the car has been returned to them for more than 8 (eight) times, without satisfactory repair. Problems include: faulty gas tank latch, rhs exhaust hanging lower and scraping pavement, hard transmission shifts, faulty remote transmitter, judder from steering wheel, knocking noise from the engine that ran sluggish, replaced rack & pinion several times, car out of alignment, injectors dirty, rhs lug nut broken because of, according to tech. , non lubrication at factory, jerky gear shifting from 3rd. We had told the techs. That both my wife and I have experienced total loss of steering control over 5 times and finally on 08/07/2006, I again loss total control and the car hit into the guard rail and scraped the whole of the rhs of the vehicle. Jaguar would not even give me the free tow that I was entitled to when I called them to inform of the accident and I had to drive the car to my house. I had both my kids ( son 31/2 yrs.
