This appears to be a fairly common problem in the Pt Cruiser when one checks on the internet and should possibly result in a recall of these vehicles. car   Clutch Broken problem of Dodge Stratus

The vehicle was a 1999 Dodge Stratus. On June 22, 2002 I was dirving my car to wv. Half way there the transmission 'popped' out of 5th gear. I pulled off at the next exit in search of assistance where I found the transmission would not remain in 3rd gear either. In this small town I was unable to find anyone who could/would look at my car so I proceeded to charleston where my dad and a cousin who could look at my car were. It was found that my transmission had no fluid in it - so this was replaced with fluid as close to the original as possible so we could get back to richmond. All 360 miles I had to drive holding my gear shift into 5th gear or 3rd gear when needed in order to make it home. The dealership was wonderful! they said my clutch cable was broken and I had several oil leaks! they repaired everything and it was all covered under the power train warrenty. Thank you for that warrenty! my car only had a little over 40,000 miles at the time. It was 06/21/02 when this clutch broken issue happened.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Ford Focus

We purchased a 2013 Ford Focus with the dct. By 1200 miles, the transmission was grinding and stuttering to the point of almost stalling during acceleration. Ford performed a repair after finding the clutches burned up and bearing failure. This fix lasted for awhile before the problem returned. During this period we had difficulty getting Ford dealerships to acknowledge the issue. On multiple occasions, with my baby daughter in the back seat, the car would surge, hesitate, nearly stall, and otherwise pose dangerous driving situations. Eventually Ford performed a second repair finding clutch failure again and then when that repair lasted less than 500 miles replaced the entire transmission. But now, even with the new transmission, the problems have returned. Ford customer service insists that nearly stalling and obnoxious stuttering is normal and possibly the result of multiple drivers confusing the computer. Were now at 14000 miles and problem remains. It was Friday, May 31, 2013 when this clutch broken issue happened.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Ford Mustang

The vehicle was a 2008 Ford Mustang. To whom it may concern: I was driving my 2008 Mustang shelby gt 500 and stopped on a hill and when trying to start clutch slipped and almost got hit by the car behind me. I have driven manual transmission cars all my life and have never had a car with 6000 miles with clutch failure. I contacted Ford and was informed by them that it would not be covered under warranty. I did some internet research and found several complaints like mine looking for help from Ford and have received the same response. I have shared my research and I have received generic answers. Ford is very aware of the inferior clutches they put in these cars and are only trying to evade a recall. I am asking for your help convincing Ford to do the honorable thing especially the high cost of these cars. If you do your own investigating and you will find multiple problems being discussed on the internet. Thanks. The failure date was 07/09/2013.

We lost our gears and had to be towed. I looked up the issue and it sounds like this is a more than common issue with the Acadia at this mileage. If this is such a well-known issue why does gm not fix this issue?. This clutch broken issue occurred Apr. 21, 2014.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Acura TL

The car is a 2003 Acura 3. 2tl. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 19UUA56933_. I bought a 2003 Acura 3. 2tl approximately 2 months ago from a small used car dealer (k&s auto sales, 600 w. St. Georges Ave. , linden, NJ 07036; 908-925-4411). They represented this car as being in excellent condition with no problems whatsoever. We paid $10,270. Cash for this vehicle. Not even 5 weeks after the purchase, the transmission went on the car. When approached to look into the necessary repairs to the car, they vehemently denied any wrong doing and refused to even look at the car. They would only honor new jerseys 30 day warranty that they must do anyway. They never mentioned any trouble with the trans nor the fact that the car had been in an accident prior to us purchasing the car and front fender, door, etc has been replaced. It has now been 4 weeks that the car has been in a transmission repair shop as Honda/Acura keeps sending the shop the wrong parts to fix the problems (clutch pack failure, 2nd gear shaft locking up, I don't know what else they have to repair) since there was a recall on this vehicle for the same transmission problems, is the car still covered? I don't know if the car was repaired when the recall was first initiated, and even if it was, it is now a recurring problem. It took all the money we had to pay for the car in the first place, now we have had to rent a car for 3-4 weeks while the car is being repaired, and it is supposed to cost anywhere from $2500-$3500 to repair. Is there any way that Honda/Acura of America can help with the cost of the repairs/replacement since this was a NHTSA recall that was obviously not fixed properly in the first place, if at all. I feel the dealer knew there was a problem, but being a mother/daughter buyer, was just interested in the sale. Not honesty. Please, is there anything you can do to help defray the costs we are now faced with? any help your corporation can give at this point would be a huge help as I feel the huge expense to repair this car should not have to be paid by us. Thank you. It was Thursday, September 25, 2008 when this clutch broken issue occurred.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Hyundai Tiburon

The vehicle was a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. My 2007 Tiburon now sits inoperative needing a replacement clutch at 56,000 miles. Hyundai is not honoring their 100,000 mile / 10 year warranty. Their response is let us look at it. If you look on the internet, most peoples' Tiburon's begin having clutch problems even earlier than mine. People across the nation (many, read comments online by typing in Tiburon clutch problem). People across the nation are being told they do not know how to drive a clutch, and also many people say after replacing the clutch to remove the clutch slave cylinder delay valve and spring and the clutch will operate better. Many online agreed with that. I have e-mails that show my conversations with Hyundai in which hyundau says they will honor the 1000,000 mile / 10 year warranty if the clutch appears to have the wear of a 1 year old clutch. Noone can possibly meet that condition, and online you will see hundreds of complaints about the Tiburon clutchs failing early, and with the exception of one person the driver is blamed. If you give me an e-mail address I will send you all there e-mails to prove what I am telling you. Are you my salvation, or is small claims court the answer? what do I do to not have them blame me and then "repair" to original specs with the original clutch type, as many people online that did this have had a second failure about 20,000 to 40,000 miles later. The conformity of peoples story concerning Hyundais response tells me it is a standardized response. I need them to cover for an upgraded clutch (the aftermarket clutches are said to be superior) and I need a repair person who will agree to not reinstall the clutch slave cylinder delay valve and spring, which Hyundai will probably not do. With this remaining as part of the clutch, all the mechanics online said the problem will repeat. This clutch broken issue occurred Feb. 1, 2013.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Mitsubishi Lancer

I own a Mitsubishi Lancer evolution x gsr 2011. I purchased this vehicle on February 2013 brand new. By the end of September 2013 (7 months) I had about 15,000 miles on the vehicle and I started experiencing a problem with the acceleration of the vehicle. The gear was engaging properly but there was a delay on getting traction to the wheels. The engine ramped up several rpms before the car started accelerating in any gear. On October 2nd 2013 I took the vehicle to the Mitsubishi dealership and I was told that I have to replace the clutch because it was worn off. I could not believe this since the vehicle was fairly new and I have never experienced this problem before, all my previous vehicles have had manual transmission. I also got the vehicle checked with two local mechanics and they told me that the clutch was worn off beyond normal. The clutch is not under manufacturer's warranty because it's wear off depends on the driver according to Mitsubishi. The problem arises when I checked the national highway traffic safety administration website for recalls and I found out that in November 11 2013 there will be a recall noticed for my vehicle for the clutch master cylinder. After November 11 I called the dealership to confirm that my car is one of the cars affected and it was indeed. I got the clutch master cylinder replaced and the car is still having the same problem as before. My question is, and I need to know if the national highway traffic safety administration can do the research for me, what is the effect of a damaged clutch master cylinder on the wearing of a clutch? I now have to pay over $2,000 to the dealership to have the clutch replaced. If the clutch was damaged due to miss-function of the master cylinder wouldn't Mitsubishi have to cover repair cost for the early wearing of the clutch? please get back to me. Sincerely,. In all cases, I've never had to replace a clutch below 75,000 miles! I've driven standard/stick my whole life and have never, ever seen clutch failure like this Subaru. I don't ride the clutch, I engage and disengage it properly, etc. And yet the throw-out bearing keeps failing prematurely. This clutch broken problem happened on Jan. 6, 2002.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Volkswagen CC

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WVWNP7AN6A_. Car purchased brand new in 2010. One owner. With no warning, clutch failed completely with only 48k miles, and gears would not engage, causing the car to be stranded in the middle of traffic. An online search shows that many other vw Cc and golf (2009, 2010 models) have had clutch failures with approximately the same mileage. Also, there is a vw technical service bulletin (vw 2028783) which directs dealers to install an updated clutch kit with improved springs. I contacted vw customer care as this is a safety issue, and as I in no way abused the clutch. Also, to inform them that this Cc is still within the 5yr/50k mile powertrain warranty. Vw customer opened a case, however, the case manager claimed that the clutch is not included in the powertrain warranty and that vw would not authorize repair, even though they are aware of the fact that they updated the parts and have distributed the TSB due to premature failure. This issue happened on April 9, 2014.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The car involved was a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. In the afternoon of 10/16/2013 while traveling back to my residence I stopped on the road, where I had been traveling, before turning left into a subdivision. The vehicle behind me was also following me into the subdivision. When it was clear to turn left I put my car into first gear and proceeded across the lane and into the subdivision. As I went up the incline the car came out of gear causing the vehicle behind me to come very close to mine as it slowed down without any brake lights. I engaged the clutch and put the car into second gear and proceeded up the hill. At the top of the hill I turned right and accelerated. I tried to change to third gear and was unable to go into gear. I tried again and found it wasn't possible to change gears. I coasted to the location I needed to go and parked the car. Found I wasn't able to change into any gear while the engine was on and the clutch was engaged. I could only change gears by engaging the clutch and putting the car into the first or reverse gear while the engine was off. Accordingly I could drive out of the driveway in reverse. Stop. Turn off the engine. Change into first gear and start the engine to go forward in first gear. I could never change out of first gear. Had to have the car towed to the dealership and was told the clutch had failed. There had been no warning of the clutch failing until it stopped working almost causing the vehicle behind me to run into the rear of the car. The car was driven by only one driver through-out its service life. Driver had 30 years of driving experience. The car was maintained as prescribed in the manual and had recently had its 50000 mile service. There was never any indication that the clutch was wearing out. This was completely unexpected and could have caused a major accident and put lives at risk if it had happened at highway speeds or in another situation with more traffic. This issue happened on October 16, 2013.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Audi A4

The vehicle is a 2011 Audi A4. I have had two instances of "sudden clutch failure", the first at 4,800 miles, the second at 31,000 miles. I was traveling on I-80 when suddenly the clutch started slipping and then burned out, leaving me stranded on the shoulder. According to Audi of oakland, the clutch failure has resulted in the clutch being in a "molten state" and the heat was so extreme that the clutch release bearing is fused to the transmission shaft. I have inspected the parts and have photos from that inspection. Audi of America repaired the clutch at their own expense after the first instance, but is denying any responsibility for this second occurrence. I have been driving standard shift Volkswagen's and Audio's for 40 years and have never needed to replace a clutch before these two instances. It was Aug. 24, 2013 when this clutch broken issue occurred.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 2G4WB55K01_. Our 2001 Buick Regal lost it's a/t at 40,300 miles, locked out of reverse, gears 1 & 2. Only had drive-3. Why does the gm and american cars lose their a/t more so than the japanese cars. We were cursing on I-5 at 70 mph in cruise control south of stockton, CA, when the car gave a slight lurch, a thud and slowed down. I stopped checked the tires, all ok. Checked the engine oil and a/t fluid, all ok. Proceeded to oxnard, CA had the a/t repaired costing us seniors $3,600--ouch. The shop said the planetary gear and the clutch disks were broken with metal fragment is the pan. I know it was out of warranty, but gosh, it should have lasted longer than it did konking out at 40,300. Our son drove his Toyota camry 130,00 with out problems, why can't american cars be as reliable. My next car will be japanese, and that is a promise. Thanks, lloyd pearson. The failure date was Tuesday, July 4, 2006.

car   Clutch Broken problem of Jaguar X-type

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Jaguar X-type. Vehicle identification number (VIN): SAJEB52D14_. Defective design of manual transmission for Jaguar 2004 x type car. 1) there was no events or symptoms leading up to the failure @ 47,000 miles. I am a professional commercial driver with 30 years experience with manual transmissions to know the symptoms. 2) down shifting at 5 mph, to prepare for a turn, loud grinding sound for 58 seconds as we heard a piece of metal grinding through the transmission including the fly wheel. Then the transmission was totaled. 3) transmission was replaced at my expense, for $ 3245. I saved all of the broken parts for inspection in my pursuit of fairness. Researched manual clutch failures with others owning the same car. Found 30 others who clutches failed before 50,000 miles of their jag x type car. This is not a fluke. There is a serious design failure as a mechanical engineer who designed the engineering (not the cosmetic stuff) of cars. Even thought manual transmissions are rare in the american car industry, that is not appropriate to make defective cars. This problem occurred on Tue., Apr. 3, 2007.
