I find the danger of holding my vehicle with my left foot, keeping my right foot on the accelerator to simutaneously accelerate while releasing the brake. The mercedes dealership states this is normal for this vehicle, if it is then I would think it might also be a safety issue. I own a 1990 mercedes 300sel and I have never experienced this type of problem. I look forward to your analysis of this problem, meanwhile I will avoid as many inclines of possible. My records show 14 visits to mercedes repair shops since November 2004. . . Insane. This is my first and last mercedes! even my service adviser told me to get a Lexus or Acura!. My driveway is a steep hill so its a must that I use it. On 2 occasions where someone else parked my car and only used the e brake and didnt put it in gear, we found my car halfway in the road (stopped) and then actually watched it as it started rolling backwards one night. When I get in my car to start it before pushing in the clutch I have to make sure my foot is firm on the brake or the car will start rolling backwards. I had it tightened at the dealer and have done it a few times since myself after being shown how only to have it revert to its non functional state each time. On 06/15/2001 my 2000 Toyota Tundra received warranty repairs as follows: replaced front rotors, front pads, rear drums, rear brake shoes, rear parking brake adjustment strut kits on both wheels. All work was necessary due to vibration during braking above 40 mph. Classic Toyota in round rock, texas did the warranty work and told me there was a TSB calling for the replacement of the parking brake adjustment struts. Additionally, I was told this action would fix the vibration problems. My brakes operated smoothly for approx. 3,000 mi. My truck once again vibrates during braking conditions above 40 mph. This condition causes excessive vibrations that pose safety concerns, most especially in wet or hazardous driving conditions. I have spoken with the service department at classic Toyota in round rock, texas and they have indicated there are other customers with repeat brake issues similar to mine. I inquired about a permanant solution issue from Toyota and was told there isn't any information to support this. I frequent a Tundra owners' website and have discovered this is a wide-spread problem. I am concerned about how long Toyota will continue to replace affected brake parts before claiming it a wear issue. Additionally, I am concerned about how this matter will be handled when my warranty expires. Assistance with this issue would be appreciated. Sincerely, scott esau. While descending a moderately steep dirt road we experienced a total failure of the hydraulic and emergency braking systems. Vehicle was coasted to a stop on a flat area of road. After approximately 45 minutes brake system slowly returned to normal operation. Local dealer inspection revealed no apparent cause for the malfunction and no suggestion as to what possibly could have caused both brake systems to fail. The vehicle involved was a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta. There was crash involved with this problem. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 3VWTG29MX1_. Car was parked on near-level surface of driveway. Car was left in neutral (manual transmission) and parking brake was set. Doors were locked. Car began to roll 165 feet down driveway about 20 minutes after use. Car rested in a fence post. Dealer claims that car should be left in gear because the parking brake system on this car is hydraulic, and while the car is driven, the rear disc brakes heat up, and when the car is parked, the brakes cool down. The same brakes that cool down are the same brakes that heat up. When a brake pad heats up, it expands, when it cools down, it contracts. My parking brakes failed because they cooled off and became inoperable, causing the car to roll all on its own. I was never informed that the parking brake system on this car was not a separate drum brake, and I was never advised by the dealer during delivery to leave the car in gear while parked because the parking brake will be useless after every trip. This issue happened on Wednesday, October 11, 2000.

The vehicle is a 2001 Audi S4. Crash was involved with the Audi S4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is WAURD68D51_. My wife returned from buying presents and stopped the vehicle in the driveway. She engaged the handbrake and waited one minute before turning off the engine to let the turbos cool down. She then proceeded to retrieve packages from the trunk and entered the residence. After one hour and fourty five minutes, an officer contacted us and asked if we knew where was the vehicle. We stated that it was in the driveway. He told us to please follow him. We went outside and saw that the vehicle had backed out of the driveway and damaged the retaining wall of our vehicle. Upon inspection, the officer noted that the hand brake was still engaged and there was no signs of criminal intent. In addition, the alarm was not set off upon impact with the retaining wall. The vehicle must have reached a substantial speed because it jumped the curb and damaged the wall, creating a hole about 3 feet tall by 5 feet wide. The vehicle's trunk was imbedded through the wall. I entered the vehicle and had to disengage the hand brake before the vehicle could be extracted from the retaining wall. Damage occurred to the rear bumper, left and right quarter panel, rear light assemby, trunk lid, and trunk interior. Possible damage to wheels as wheel as nonvisible components of vehicle. It was Aug. 11, 2001 when this conventional parking brake issue happened.
