car   Coolant Leaking problem of Chevrolet Tahoe

The car was a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. Drove vehicle out of town on christmas holiday trip. After being parked overnight starting vehicle next am big cloud of white gray smoke upon start. Coolant low. Refilled coolant and drove home. Now vehicle constantly leaks coolant with no apparent leak under vehicle or in engine compartment. Oil sludges between oil changes. White smoke after a 30 min drive every time. Gm has bulletin out for bad heads installed and the part number and symptoms matched cracked heads on my vehicle. Dealer aware and sees often not only in this vehicle but all 5. 3 engines from a certain time span. Dealer states will only fix at cost of consumer even though bulletin is known. This could cause an overheat situation or engine failure at a bad time or worse. Why are they not made to stand behind this when problem is known? a quick search on google will overwhelm a computer with so many accounts of this problem. It was 12/24/13 when this coolant leaking issue occurred.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The first problem we noticed with the van was the brakes. They wear out way to quickly. In the 5 years we have had the van we have replaced the brakes 6 times and rotors 2 times. The next problem was what seems to be a well documented leak of the coolant on to the engine causing smelly smoke. We were forced to by the part from the dealer as it was not available anywhere else and paid over 100. 00 for it. Thankfully my husband was able to replace it. Now at 80000 miles the key and ignition has been having issues. It started with not being able to remove the key fob. The engine will cut off but it will only go into accessory. If left overnight or for sometime it will kill the battery. It started occasionally and has progressed to almost every time you cut the engine off you cannot remove the key fob. It will release but it is after sometime sitting in park. It is very frustrating having to leave your key in the ignition and be forced to leave it sitting in a random parking lot and just hope that when you return the battery is not dead. I have researched this issue and it is very common among this van and other Chrysler vehicles. At this point I am so fed up with it if someone decided to steal it because they saw the key in it I would just wish them good luck. I will never own another Chrysler ! seems like there has to be a fire injury or fatality for them to do anything to satisfy all the unhappy customers they have. This issue happened on Dec. 1, 2011.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The car is a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The "y" fitting on heater hose is cracked and leaking coolant, big plumes of coolant steam escapes from the drivers side wheel well until leaking fluid has evaporated. Until the evap happens I cannot use the defroster as it takes the climate control off recycle and the coolant fumes then enter the cab. Chrysler was made aware of the issue, as well as another on December 5, and refused to fix or help with repair costs, vehicle still not repaired, still leaking coolant. 2 small children, 5 yrs and 14 months, ride in this vehicle on a daily basis and can be exposed to the fumes. Also cannot use remote start due to the fumes leaking into cab until the vehicle key is in place and climate control recycle kicks in, so in cold weather like this week I can not warm my van up without physically going out and starting it up. If I am contacted I will provide VIN. This problem occurred on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.

The car is a 2007 Ford Explorer. The VIN of this vehicle was 1FMEU758X7_. Noticed a smell from engine area. Noticed coolant was really low, added coolant and observed major leak under engine. I had to have the truck towed to the dealer. Repair notes from Ford: inspected and found coolant leak coming from lower heater hose has fallen on right side exhaust and melted hole in side of hose - replaced heater hose and rechecked for leaks. Part replaced 1 6l2z*18c553*c hose - this part failed and cost me $481 to fix. I have seen other people post they are experiencing the same problem, but so far Ford is not repairing at no charge under recall or service bulletin and should be. car   Coolant Leaking problem of GMC Sierra

The car involved was a 2005 GMC Sierra. The VIN of the car is 2GTEC13T85_. Took vehicle in for new brakes and coolant leak. No complaint about brakes, but complaint about coolant leak. Coolant leak issue is connected to gm TSB 06-06-01-019b and affects castech 706 cylinder heads. The coolant is leaking into the heads because of a known porosity issue. My engine will have to be replaced if the problem is not addressed because of glycol contamination. Gm dealer said to just "keep an eye" on it. A second, independent mechanic, did confirm the coolant leak is not external and my engine will fail if the heads are not replaced. This appears to be a known issue with gm for manufacture years 2001-2006 on the vehicles with the 5. 3l engine. This issue happened on 01/14/14.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Honda Pilot

The car involved was a 2008 Honda Pilot. In December 2012 while traveling approx 70mph on a highway, my Pilot began bucking, and fitting back & forth. I was able to drive it to the dealership where they had to disassemble the engine, and determined the #5 plug had come off, and was rattling around damaging the inside of the engine. The dealership replaced the engine block, cylinders, etc at a cost of $9000. It was about 2-3k over the warranty, and past warranty by 2 months. Honda paid 90% of the bill, and I paid 10%. Today. . . Very similar experience, except this time it's leaking a coffee looking liquid. Assuming oil mixed with coolant. . . Still waiting to hear from dealership as to cause of leaking fluid, and appearance of mixed fluid. It was 12/20/2012 when this coolant leaking issue occurred.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Hyundai XG300

The car involved was a 2001 Hyundai Xg300. The VIN of this Xg300 is KMHFU45D31_. 1. Have had brakes replaced and rotors recalibrated twice and still have vibration upon braking. Dealership says I'm not braking properly and causing brakes to overheat, which causing rotors to warp. I've been braking the same way for 35 years and never had this problem. 2. Air conditioner still does not cool properly and has been in shop several times. Dealership says there is a leak in the a/c coolant, but they cannot find it. 3. Car continually stutters at high speeds, dealership has replaced numerous parts, but problem persists. 4. Engine began making clacking noise about 2 months ago. Dealership said bad gas was cause, but high-grade gasoline has not fixed problem. Dealership said I needed a tune-up, but that did not fix problem. Dealership says they cannot hear noise, but noise is clearly audible when accelerated and climbing hills (2-4 rpms). Dealership still says they don't hear a problem and cannot find anything wrong. This is of major concern to me, as I'm afraid the engine will blow up while on a major highway. 5. Airbag light came on about a month ago, and won't go off, although nothing is wrong is airbags. 6. Radio has a short that causes radio to go on and off intermittently. If a cd is put in the cd player and left there while radio is in use, the radio works fine. 7. This car has been in the shop so many times since it was purchased in December of 2001, I can't fit the repair and workorder sheets in the glove compartment any more, and the service technicians know me by name and sight. This problem occurred on Tuesday, August 8, 2006.

We also have had to replace all four tires and have the vehicle aligned. The air bag light is also on at this time. The thing that makes me angry is that a service technician has seen or vehicle twice and said our vehicle was fine. So, why did the clutch go out 10 days later?. It was 09/02/2005 when this coolant leaking issue occurred.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Jeep Cherokee

The car involved was a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. As with many other xj owners, my cylinder head is cracked due to the defective 0331 head. I bought the Jeep about 3 years ago, and about a year ago coolant started leaking into the oil. I talked with several mechanic friends and the head fleet mechanic at work told me the cracked head is extremely common. I was stranded on the side of the road, had to have the vehicle towed, and it sits as a giant paperweight in my garage as I cannot afford a new engine. I bought the vehicle with 122000 miles and have never taken it off road, modified it, or traveled more than 60 miles in a day. It has never overheated until the head cracked. Now I am looking at an enormous bill that my family cannot afford. I fail to see how so many vehicles can be affected and there is still no recall. It was Wed., Mar. 6, 2013 when this coolant leaking issue occurred.

My car made a sound like a rock rolling around in an empty water bottle then all the dashboard lights turned on and the engine died. Luckily I was able to pull over with a great deal of strength applied to the steering wheel. I called kia immediately and they had it towed to a dealership within the hour. The dealership is now claiming I had a coolant leak which caused the car to overheat but I had no indications prior that the car was overheating. They said this is probably not covered by warranty since its a leak and it should have been discovered earlier. It was Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 when this coolant leaking issue happened.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Mercedes Benz E500

The vehicle is a 2003 Mercedes Benz E500. Recently purchased this 2003 mb E500 while driving along the vehicle began to stutter and shake @ around 1500 rpm, this occurred continually. Made it home and googled this problem and found out that this is a common problem for this vehicle due to a leak in the coolant system that somehow gets into the transmission, causing it to become contaminated which produces this fierce/potential dangerous stutter/jerking. To my surprise, Mercedes Benz is fully aware of this hazard and has not had a recall/bulletin to fix this common problem, leaving this expensive repair cost on the consumer. The vehicle cost is expensive enough and to have to make this costly repair is unfair. The failure date was 07/30/2012.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Mercury Tracer

The vehicle is a 1997 Mercury Tracer. Why is this database being eliminated, first of all?! I love this. Check coolant light came on, coolant had all leaked while driving, due to frost plug heater seal failure on engine causing all coolant to leak out. Not covered under warranty?! seems that this is an engine seal to me, Ford disagrees. The failure date was Jul. 1, 2001.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Mercury Tracer

The vehicle involved is a 1997 Mercury Tracer. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, she lost control of the vehicle and drove into the median to avoid oncoming traffic. The engine shut off and the cylinder head was blown. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure; however, they stated that the engine needed to be rebuilt. . The contact stated that the cylinder head in the engine failed and caused her to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle has not been repaired. The dealer and the warranty company stated that they were unable to honor the warranty to repair the vehicle. The warranty information is available if needed. The failure also caused damage to the front driver and passenger side tires. There were no injuries. On October 8, 2007, the contact drove to the dealer because the vehicle was leaking coolant. After three hours of inspecting the vehicle, the cause of the failure was still undetermined. The dealer advised her to bring the vehicle back in a few days. A couple of days later, while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began losing speed and the engine failed. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and they stated that the engine failed. The vehicle has an extended warranty through another company. The vehicle was inspected by the warranty company, but they refused to pay for the repair work. The dealer refused to perform the repair. The contact believed that this was because she reported the dealer to the better business bureau. The current and failure mileages were 91,698. The fuel gauge was inoperative. The ac did not blow out cold air, the front brakes were replaced. Updated 12/12/07. This coolant leaking issue occurred Monday, October 8, 2007.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The car is a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I bought my 98 Eclipse, standard, in 2003, not even a year after I had it it died on me on the freeway one day. Turned out it was the speed sensor that got me stranded in the middle of no where. About another 6 months later the found an oil leak on the head gasket that was making me misfire, that was fixed. The car was fine until about 2 months ago when the engine went out on me because apparently the engine oil and coolant were somehow mixing, my hoses were out, so was my water pump, O2 sensor and fuel pump sensor, all at the same time. Well I had major work done everything was put in new, about a month later my driver door handle falls off, that cost me 150 dollars! one month after that, now, my speedometer stops working all of a sudden and 2 weeks later my transmission goes out. Also my clutch is going out. So now I cant drive the car any higher than 5th gear because it throws my gear out!!! since I still owe 6k on the car I have no choice but to fix it. Which is going to end up costing me, in all I've spent and am about to spend, as much as I still owe on the car!. This problem occurred on Saturday, Apr. 1, 2006.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Nissan Xterra

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The VIN of this Xterra is 5N1AN08W36_. Nissan will not step up and fix their mistake, our car is at 87000 miles and the coolant is leaking into the transmission due to how Nissan configured their system from the years of 2006 - 2009. When I spoke with william at Nissan consumer affairs he intimated that Nissan is not aware of this being a major issue, but interestingly enough stopped using this configuration in 2010. They claim that it will not happen to every Nissan, we need more consumers to come forward, so that this will become a "recall". The system is faulty it may not happen at 80,000 / 90,000 / 100,000 , but count on it happening at some point. This is a very expensive repair. If Nissan had communicated to us that the warranty covering this transmission failure was extended to 80,000 but of course why would they admit to a faulty system, and let their valued customers know. Simple they do not value their customers, they lost this group. Way to go Nissan, somewhere down the line this will hurt you. Signed-disgusted. This coolant leaking issue occurred February 24, 2014.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of SAAB 95

The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 SAAB 9-5. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is YS3ED59A15_. Check engine light was sporadically on for about two weeks. On 7/14 coolant level low indication came on. Coolant reservoir was empty. Filled, started engine, coolant leaked in a steady stream from the car. Towed to dealer. Diagnosed ignition cassette as faulty and water valve (part servicing heater core) as faulty and the source of the leak. Check engine light was due to ignition cassette. Good there is a warning, but it could be more specific, as failure of this part shuts down the engine. Water valve leak could cause overheating. Both parts are critical and failure in a car with so little mileage is unacceptable. The ignition cassette for model years 1999-2002 was recalled due to overheating. This was reportedly fixed. Now the part that has failed in a fairly young car is not available through normal channels (SAAB parts USA) and shops are charging inflated prices for the part (in my case $850 as opposed to $465 list price; and my dealership claims they are not able to sell it for less. My extended warranty will not pay more than list and I am being asked to make up the difference). There is clearly a problem when a part standard to over a million vehicles is not available except from shops who have collected the parts in inventory and are now selling them on something not unlike a black market. It was 07/14/12 when this coolant leaking issue happened.

Took it immediately into dealership who informed me that head gasket blew and I need new motor-had no coolant. Wasn't aware of any leaks or problems. 3 weeks before my dash lights went out while driving. Now the odometer reading indicates 7000 miles more than what it should be. car   Coolant Leaking problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 5GZCZ33D23_. 2003 Saturn Vue. Consumer states defective transmission. After three months of purchasing the vehicle from a private seller, the consumer notice the vehicle would slip into a weird gear and the engine would sound as if it were running harder. The issue occurred at random intervals with no noticeable pattern. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, and was informed that was the way it was supposed to sound, but they would inspected it. When the consumer returned to pick up the vehicle, he noticed the mileage was virtually the same and wondered if they test drove the vehicle. 4-5 weeks later, the consumer received a letter from gm stating the vehicle had a potentially defective vti transmission installed at the factory. The consumer was informed nothing could be done for him based on the mileage. The consumer stated there was a problem before the mileage on the vehicle excluded him. Also, the coolant light illuminated. The dealer found the water pump leaking. It was 05/01/2009 when this coolant leaking issue happened.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Subaru Forester

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Subaru Forester. As I was driving the check engine light came on for the first time - it is now on continuously due to fuel cap. I pulled over at a service station only to realize my oil was next to empty. I promptly filled and continued the final half hour to my destination. Upon arrival I inspected the engine from under the hood & below the car. It was at this time I noticed build up and fluid around both head gaskets. Initially there was oil residue only, now, 18 months later I have coolant and oil leakage & cannot afford to spend the $1800 I have been quoted to replace the head gaskets. Very disappointed in Subaru for not handling this in a better way. My brother has the same car (year make & model) and has similar issues at fewer miles. My parents have a 2008 outback and had their head gaskets fail at 54,000 miles. Unacceptable. I enjoy everything about my Subaru except for the excessive amount it will cost to fix such a common design flaw. The failure date was Jul. 2, 2012.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Toyota Camry

The vehicle was a 2002 Toyota Camry. The coolant started leaking from behind the motor. My mechanic looked at it and said that the foam insulation was saturated with coolant and it was leaking from there, between the head and the cylinder. When I researched about it online in many Toyota forums, the common thing that I have come across is that there is a problem with the head bolts stripping and the coolant leaking from that area. My mechanic said that I either need a new engine or do a fix the stripped head bolts with a heli-coil or a time-sert. This is very disappointing with Toyota, that they are not acknowledging the defect with there 5th gen 4 cyl 2az-fe engines and are refusing to do anything about. The solution that they are giving is a very expensive one of getting a new engine for $5000. This needs to be addressed by Toyota or someone needs to make them take notice of this issue. This issue happened on Jan. 7, 2014.

I think they should have recalled these or at least have to correct the problem case by case. My granddaughter has to ride in the back of this car and I don't believe it's safe anymore. car   Coolant Leaking problem of BMW 528

The vehicle having this issue was a 2011 BMW 528i. Purchased a brand new 528i BMW and within months I had a coolant signal indicating low coolant. Subsequently, the coolant signal came on every six weeks, despite having it topped off at dealership. Car had inadequate power and felt like it dragged. BMW service center repeatedly failed to identify a problem. Eventually, the signal came on and an intolerable fuel odor emerged upon turning on the car. Fuel and chemical odors remain. I have read of other similar complaints online and believe there is a manufacturing defect that makes the car unsafe. The exposure to carcinogenic coolant fumes and the gas fumes are dangerous. Coolant may be leaking into the engine. Other mechanical issues may be causing the drag and continued loss of power. In one instance I left the vehicle at the BMW service center with a full tank and when it was returned to me, the fuel level had dropped significantly despite having been driven a very small amount of miles by the service people. I am very concerned that these problems pose a safety hazard to not only myself, but the general public and other BMW owners who may be unaware of these issues. I feel the car is compromised by the manufacturing defects and that efforts to repair the problems continue to exist. I feel the car is unsafe and poses a safety and health hazard and that BMW is unwilling to investigate how pervasive the problem may be. I want an investigation and feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive. This is not "the ultimate driving machine. " please investigate these problems and help prevent others from being unnecessarily subjected to toxic fumes and chemicals which may compromise the public's health and the safety of people on the road. It was Dec. 27, 2012 when this coolant leaking issue happened.

car   Coolant Leaking problem of Cadillac Eldorado

The car is a 1998 Cadillac Eldorado. Starting with dic message of "low coolant", I have experienced an engine overheating problem. After the Cadillac dealer in durango colorado was unable to find a problem ( replaced hoses, water pump), my mechanic (in albuquerque)found a cracked head that was leaking coolant internaly. Fixed the head, but now the head bolt holes stripped. Used oversized helicoils , but block material still to soft and cannot torque down the head bolts without pulling helicoils. Aluminum metal got to soft and have to replace the engine. This engin only has 82k+ miles and should not be doing this. Aluminium for block/head materia is stupidity. Weight savings cannot be that much to have shorter life of an engine. L. The failure date was Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
