car   Diesel Engine problem of Chevrolet Trailblazer

The car involved is a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I have a rare Trailblazer with a 5. 3l v8. It is very low miles with 41000, oil changes every 3-4000 miles at gm dealerships. I am an ex diesel mechanic of 10 years. I could not believe it a year ago when the dealership stated: that 1 quart of oil used in 2000 miles was normal consumption. I have checked other sites and many others have the same issue with the 5. 3l in the 1/2 tons and larger suvs that the motor is standard in. I have worked on almost every gas, natural gas and diesel engine from the 80s-late 90s and any motor that uses 1/6th of its oil in 1000 miles as it mine did when visiting family last thanksgiving is not normal 1 quart in 770 miles. I thought: well must have gotten a bad motor (luck of the draw), it is out of warranty due to age not mileage, and I can buy a re-man short block when it goes out and change it my self. I decided to check the web if there is any traffic on the problem. I was surprised to find hundreds of posts of the same problem, and gms lack of ability or desire to fix the problem. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that gm has a problem with the piston rings and valve guides leaking into the cylinder when in 4 cyl. Mode, caused by the suction caused by the power stroke (of the 4 stoke cycle) with both valves closed. Oil burns off causing buildup further damaging the engine sensors and cat. Converter. Gm must have solved the problem, because new 5. 3ls have not shown the same issue. To not say it is not a safety issue is insane. Many recalls have been made because of autos suddenly coming to an unexpected stop. What else would happen if your engine runs out of oil after only 1000 miles or less and seizes? what if it happens on a hill while towing, driving across a desert, or in the winter. Lastly if you add up all 2007 5. 3ls on the road burning 2 quarts or more in 3000 miles, how is that not an environmental issue. This problem occurred on Nov. 30, 2013.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Chrysler Sebring

The VIN of this vehicle is 1C3EL55T63_. I purchased a 2003 Chrysler Sebring in early '07' I still owe about 5,000 on the car. For the past several months my oil light has been coming on when I come to a stop. I took it to a dealer and they said the oil sender switch was bad and leaking oil. They charged me 173. 00 to replace it and when I left I got about 5 miles down the road and the light came on again. Now I have been told that the engine most likely will need to be replaced. It is the 2. 7 that I now have learned is one of the worse engines made. This last christmas I was at a party and my friend introduced me to his roommate that was going to diesel engine school,he had already received every gas automobile certification there in existence and is one of the top mechanics in the area! we started talking about cars and he asked me what I drove, I told him I had a 2003 Sebring. His reply was. . "OH, I'm sorry". Now I know what he meant by that,at the time I thought he was just joking. I hope someone will start a class action lawsuit,if they don't remedy this problem I will pray daily that Chrysler goes under and will bad mouth them to every person I know and meet. This problem occurred on Feb. 7, 2009.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Chrysler Sebring is 1C3EL56U91_. 2001 Chrysler Sebring 4. 7liter engine. Had oil changed two weeks ago. The next morning oil was all over top of engine. Returned to shop and determined that oil pressure low. Making loud knocking noise when idle sounds like diesel engine! mechanic stated engine fixing to go. It has only 92,000 miles. Understand that there is a design issue with engine and has still not been recall. Chrysler is well aware of this continuous issue and assume they feel its the consumers problem now since you purchased it. Will never buy another vehicle from Chrysler. It was Monday, February 2, 2009 when this diesel engine issue occurred.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Dodge Sprinter

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Dodge Sprinter 3500. While driving approximately 70 mph the turbo resonator caused the vehicle to decelerate. There were no prior warning signs which as a consequence increased the risk of a serious crash and injury. The dealer replaced the turbo resonator four times. All attempts to repair the failure have been unsuccessful. A technician speculated tht poor quality and excessive heat exposure caused the component to fail. The failure mileage was 2,336 and the current mileage was 25,000. Updated 5/6/09 updated 05/08/09. The failure date was Friday, Oct. 6, 2006.

Consumer has a 2004 Dodge Sprinter 2500. The contact stated that the head lamp sensor turned white abnormally, causing limited illumination when driving at night. The contact also noticed that the glow plug control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that in order to complete the repair, they required special tools in which they did not have. As a result, the contact performed the repairs by replacing the glow plug control. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The current mileage was 29,300 and the failure mileage was 29,000. It was Feb. 28, 2012 when this diesel engine issue occurred.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Ford F-350

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Ford F-350. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1FTWW33R19_. Ford diesel engine began to sputter/miss/backfire/etc-later shown to have 'blown-up' . . . Basis of problem appears to be in the 'crank-area' of the engine. Has to be replaced @ 116,000 miles with a $20,000 pricetag. (note: any diesel should be good for 250,000--300,000 miles). We are 2nd owner(1st owner was a Ford dealer) buying on 5/31/12 47,276 miles on speedo. It was Monday, April 28, 2014 when this diesel engine issue happened.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Ford F-250

Catastrophic engine failure at 3 years old and 124,000 miles. This $60,000 2011 Ford F-250 super duty with 6. 7 diesel engine is totaled. Driving down the road at normal cruise the engine started making a terrible banging noise and shuddering so violently that I was forced to immediately leave the road. I stopped and turned the engine off. Got out and the ground was covered in oil. Stranded. . Dealership quoted me $24,233. 67 to replace the engine. Although this engine is falsely advertised to be rigidly tested for 250,000 miles, Ford has sent email stating that they will not stand behind the product. This truck is still financed and quite frankly I cannot afford and should not have to afford this repair. I have had exhaust issues with overheating and burning sensors which were replaced by warranty a couple times and out of pocket a couple times. I have read many reviews that the heat that is built up during a regen exhaust cleaning cycle damages the valves within the engine. I also read that Ford fixed this problem in 2012 but that leaves people like myself, who paid Ford $60,000+ stranded without a vehicle in just 3 short years. I have service the truck as required and have never abused it nor put it in mud, etc. Please look into this and see if there is anything I can do. It appears I may be without a vehicle and have to default on my lender with the cost of this. The failure date was May. 2, 2014.

car   Diesel Engine problem of GMC Suburban

We have a 1996 6. 5 turbo diesel GMC Suburban. We had severe stalling problems. The dealer replaced the fuel pump at their cost and installed at our cost, new glow plugs, glow plug sensor, battery, and battery cables suspected to be the problem. It continued to stall. We returned to the dealer and they replaced the pump again at their cost, but we had to pay to drop the tank to check for contamination. There was a deteriorated screen we paid to replace. It still stalled. Only this time it stalled when I was going 50 mph and approaching curves along the river. I lost all power steering and brakes. Me and my five young kids almost ended up in the river. Had it been normal winter roads, we would have. All along we've done research and had it rediagnosed by a professional diesel mechanic, so we knew to tell our dealer (automall in brattleboro vermont) to replace the pump mounted driver (pmd) sometimes called a fuel solenoid driver (fsd). After problems where automall tried to rip us off for a fake $100 deductible, they will install it at no charge tomorrow (1/7/04). We have driven just over 1000 miles total. However, this does not fix the problem. From all the research we've done, weve discovered many people have reported the same dangerous accounts of stalling. Several report having almost had serious accidents like I had two days ago. According to research, pmd failures are the most common part to fail on gm 6. 5 diesels. The pmd overheats because of placement near the engine. There is a simple, yet costly fix that consumers should not have to pay to be safe. A pump driver cooler (pdc) can mount on the firewall (not the engine) to move the pmd away from the heat. Please investigate and issue a recall to install pdc's on these engines so we can once again be safe in our vehicles. My family of 7 cant afford another stall, especially during these winter months, and new pdcs alone cant guarantee safety. Thank you. This diesel engine issue occurred 01/04/2004.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Hyundai Azera

I purchased a new 2013 Hyundai Azera. My wife and I was given a class on our new vehicle. The day of our purchase my wife and I noticed the back bumper was every dirty, we thought. The back bumper was covered with black carbon that came from the exhaust that also had carbon as well inside and around the outside tips. I contacted the dealership where we purchase the car. They ask what grade gas did we put in the car? I explain that we would not put fuel in the car and that they filled the car with fuel. And explained that we had just left the dealership a few hours ago. Service asked us to put 87 octane in the next time we fill up. I called Hyundai company and they said to use 87 octane fuel as well. I understand pump gas has additives that are added to gas. I've only seen this with gas vehicles that are running bad or with problems and diesel engines powered vehicles. Do u. S. Department of transportation have anything on a Hyundai's 2013 Azera?. This diesel engine issue occurred June 8, 2013.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The vehicle was a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Vehicle suddenly lost power (did not stall) while driving 70 mph on interstate i40 in a construction zone (no access to median because of concrete construction barriers). Engine power did not allow me to drive over 35 mph. Dash board indicator started flashing red (etc indicator: electronic throttle control). Several tractor trailers had to brake hard to avoid running into the rear of my vehicle. Engine is 3. 0l mercedes diesel. Problem appears to be a failed swirl motor due to excessive oil blow by from a defective intake tube with an orange gasket. This mercedes diesel engine was used in Jeep gr cherokee in 2007 & 2008. This particular problem was identified in NHTSA item #1006202 regarding mercedes vehicles but never to Jeep. This situation of loss of power while highway driving could of been tragic. This Jeep 2007 & 2008 problem is well documented in various Jeep forums on the internet. Why is NHTSA not doing anything about it???. This problem occurred on 05/23/12.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3. 0 crd diesel engine. While driving the car began to run rough for just a few seconds and then abruptly stalled and would not restart. This resulted in the loss of power steering and power brakes while driving. I was on an incline (with a trailer in tow) at the time and was unable to move the vehicle until being towed. This presents a very dangerous driving hazard to the driver and the passengers in the Jeep and to any other vehicles nearby. The car was towed to the dealer and today (8/15/2011) I was told this is a faulty crankshaft position sensor. I do know of other 3. 0 crd Jeeps that this has happened to while driving. I have also read that other cars and trucks equipped with the 3. 0 crd diesel engine have experienced the crankshaft sensor failure. It occurs without warning and at any speed. This diesel engine issue occurred Sun., Aug. 14, 2011.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Kia Motor Optima

The car was a 2014 Kia Motor Optima. The VIN of the car is 5XXGR4A65E_. Purchased my new Optima on 4/14/2014 (Monday) and later that same week and first of the following week heard a noise best described as a diesel engine idle sound at startup. Took it into my dealership on 4/24/2014 to find out it was in need of a new engine. After looking on a forum for these cars, this site and others, this seems to be an issue with the turbo model of this car and year. I believe that kia needs to address this issue due to it's severity. This problem occurred on April 24, 2014.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Mazda Cx-7

The car involved is a 2007 Mazda Cx-7. This vehicle was originally purchased used by me daughter, since the failure my wife and I bought it, I replaced the faulty turbo charger and it is now back in service. Though my wife has very limited faith in the vehicle at this time. The issue is that when the vehicle was taken to Mazda, the dealership mechanics/service mgr stated that the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of over $8000. 00. Being a mechanic myself I knew that the engine ran exceptionally well but that the turbo had a burned up cartridge and needed to be replaced. In doing the work I realized that the design of the routing of oil tubing created the failure of the turbo. Also, the fact that Mazda does not indicate that their (any) turbo charged gasoline engine needs to be idled to cool the turbo assembly after driving before shutting off the engine. As is common practice with diesel engines and racing engines that are turbo charged. Nor did they engineer and install a timer device which would do this for the consumer so that this failure would be avoided. I have read of many of these failures in the us on forums and Mazda has forced most to pay for new engines when they were not needed. This issue happened on Monday, November 7, 2011.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Mercedes Benz ML320

The vehicle involved was a 2009 Mercedes Benz Ml320. Letter from regarding numerous issues and troubles he has faced since the purchase of his mercedes-benz vehicle, a 2009 Ml320 blue tec diesel engine SUV; seeking assistance-he would like acknowledgement of receipt of this complaint the consumer stated the first problem he encountered with the vehicle was in may of 2010, within less than a year of purchase, while driving, the gas gauge all of a sudden went from a half tank of fuel, to reading empty, where at that point the fuel light illuminated. Even though he knew the tank was not empty, he stopped to the gas station and re-fueled. However, the tank continued to read empty. About an hour later, the needle moved to the full position. Four to five months later, the check engine light illuminated, along with a blue warning light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but nothing was found to be wrong. On another occasion, the vehicle lost acceleration as the consumer was attempting to go uphill on an incline. The vehicle started to slow down in speed. Even trying to pump the accelerator pedal did not help and eventually the vehicle started to stall. The consumer experienced the same failure, several more times after that. The check engine light illuminated several other times as well. The dealer changed the entire computer module. Soon after, the tire pressure light illuminated. Once the tires were checked, the light no longer appeared. This issue happened on Sat., May. 1, 2010.

At speeds of 65-75 mph on the highway after about 15 minutes slowing down to get off the highway, the engine is loud and sounds like a diesel engine. Sounds like top end rocker arm knocking, I took it to the dealer and they said that they could not take the car over 55mph. I told them it only does it between 65-75 whicj is the speed limit on the highways south of the car dealer. They only took it at 55mph and did not hear it. There is one other reference complaint that I have found here that states he is going through the same thing. Ref # 10095916 . The failure date was November 17, 2004.

Sounds like a diesel engine. Took it to the dealer twice, they say that it is normal, but I know that it is not normal. Also when ac is on, there is a whing noise while the car is in motion, dealer claims they cannot hear. Left turn signal sticks, dealer claimed that they fixed, but sticks on during hot weather. car   Diesel Engine problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle is a 2011 Toyota Prius. On Jan. 18th, 2014 I was leaving FL to return to nc, when I started up my Prius and waited for the gas engine to start, it did not want to start. It sounded like a diesel engine, making a loud knocking noise and the whole car shook. I turned the car off and then restarted it a couple of times, but did not experience the issue again. I drove back to nc and did not experience the issue at all. The car was due for maintenance, so b-4 taking it in, I researched the issue online. I found numerous people that have experienced the same problem on the "priuschat. Com" web site, there were also links to youtube vids that showed the same problem. I also found that there is a TSB out for this issue, but it only covers certain vins and the dealers usually require that they can duplicate the problem b-4 they will perform the TSB. The repair is to replace the intake manifold, but this does not appear to be resolving the problem. The problem appears to have started with the 2010 model with the 1. 8l motor and has yet to be resolved. This diesel engine issue occurred Sat., Jan. 18, 2014.

car   Diesel Engine problem of Toyota Sienna

The car was a 2007 Toyota Sienna. Driving on the freeway @ 85mph when the check engine light came on. Promptly, I pulled the Toyota manual which said could be faulty gas cap and may go off with consecutive drives once fixed or if it stays on after to go to dealer. The car was running fine so I headed to my exit to pull over. Shortly, thereafter a horrible diesel engine grinding noise. I had just had my tires rotated (replaced just one month prior) that weekend and the oil changed the weekend before. As I was about to pull over the engine oil light flashed. When I pulled over I immediately checked the oil stick dry we had been given the run around about the part by mossy Nissan that the part was on backorder and was part of the recall. The vehicle was later towed to Toyota of poway and for $500+ to inspect and replace this hose(not part of recall) wanted another $3000 to tear down the engine and the addl charges to fix I have religiously had my oil changed and have always had my Toyota certified mechanic work on my car. I contacted Toyota consumer service for assistance in fixing the problems they indicated they would not help since the hoses were not part of the recall. The hoses are 2 rubber hoses that have clamps leading to a triangular metal piece. The hole was not in a location that something could have pierced according to my independent mechanic who tried to get the part from the first dealer. . . . Which leads to the fact that these are faulty hoses that deteriorated. Toyota has offered a goodwill payment of $750 towards a new or used certified Toyota car. But that is at a 20% interest rate. It is my hope that others will see this and get this fixed before they end up like me single mom of 4 without a car working 5 days a week 150 miles from my babies and can't even go home to see them till the weekend. A big thank you Toyota. I have paid $800 out of pocket. It was June 25, 2012 when this diesel engine issue happened.
