car   Electrical Equipment problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Chrysler town and country. Not knowing how fast your driving can be dangerous. I've been having this problem with my van starting way back in September 2001 with 13,000 miles on it and am still having the same problem. The problem is the abs light comes on all the time, dashboard lights flicker, the speedometer, odometer and rpm's randomly go up and down and sometimes don't work at all. They have tried to fix this problem many times, it has been in the shop sometimes for 2 weeks at a time. They have replaced the computer, harness (twice), ignition switch, fuses, etc. They just had it last week and today I still have the same problem. Basically it is an electrical problem. By the way, I have been taking it to a Chrysler shop in nanuet, NY. I called the Chrysler customer service 800 number and they said basically all that they could do is to try to help the service center get the right information to help them fix it. But again, they just had the car last week after I called and the problem is still here. I have had to rent cars and borrow cars to use while it has been in the shop. I really hasn't cost me all that much money because they are fixing it (trying to fix it) under warranty. I've only had rental car expenses. The big inconvenience is getting the car to the shop, etc. . . It has been very frustrating to say the least. The failure date was 06/15/03.

The car is a 2011 Dodge Journey. The clock keeps loosing time and getting behind. I have taken it back multiple times to the dealer for this problem. Not to mention that the display on my dash keeps switching over to some unknown language. This problem occurred on May. 2, 2011.

car   Electrical Equipment problem of Acura MDX

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Acura Mdx. I don't know if this counts but here I go. I purchased my new Acura 2005 Mdx over 3 months ago. I know this is not a recall but wanted to make you aware of a booming sound that is coming from the sub-woofer in the rear. Its almost if the woofer is loose inside the rear of the car. I guess a lot of other 2005 Mdx owners are having the same problem. Its a procedure where the interior has to be taken off and an adhesive is put around the subwoofer to secure it to the vehicle. You might want to report this to Acura. I hope this helps. It was Saturday, November 19, 2005 when this electrical equipment issue occurred.

car   Electrical Equipment problem of Acura RL

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was JH4KB16607_. I own a 2007 Acura Rl with the collision mitigation braking system. I was introduced to this feature with my friends 2006 Rl so I know how it is supposed to work. My 07 does not function the same. The system does not alert me of potential accidents with sufficient warning like the 06. I experienced a near collision in July 07 and the system never even went to 'stage 1', let alone stage 2 or 3. I tested it myself (intentionally) several more times but could not get the system to go to stage 1. This is the first stage and should be easy to reach. They have checked the car but concluded there is nothing wrong. I know one other person with an 07 and he has the same complaint. I'm afraid something may be wrong with all the 07's if their computers don't detect anything. I have given up my personal attempts to solve the problem but I hope the NHTSA can force Acura to investigate this issue and determine if a recall is necessary. By the way, Acura corporate confirmed for me they made no intentional changes to the system between 06 and 07. The failure date was July 12, 2007.. Read more...

Need to restart car to close them. Warning lights (all) lit up multiple times on several occasions for about 2 minutes each time; then went off. Carbon deposit build-up in throttle cable makes the accelerator pedal very sticky and I need to constantly remind Honda service to clean and lubricate; otherwise, it becomes very sticky and I need to push hard on pedal ~ leading to hard acceleration. car   Electrical Equipment problem of Hyundai Tiburon

The car involved was a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. The VIN of this vehicle was KMHHN65F03_. I bought this car in July 2002. It now only has alittle over 8,000 miles. Since I have had this auto I have had to have the doors realigned because they would not close. The radio would just go out. They replaced the radio but 3 months later it happened again except this time the a/c would not put out cold air properly. Come to find out if I cut the a/c off, the radio would come back on. The last few trips to the dealership I had to leave my car for the day. They checked out everything and could not find anything to cause it to be doing what it does. They did change the battery because the car was dying on me at any given time. I've had 3 different recalls sent to me. This problem occurred on Dec. 15, 2002.

car   Electrical Equipment problem of Hyundai Elantra

The vehicle having this issue was a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. VIN of the vehicle was KMHDN45061_. It is back at earnhardts, for the elec. System again 4th time. It started in 3/02 and went out again last fri. 6/6/03 but they don't consider it a problem. Because I filed a lemon law on the previous accent and replaced it with the Elantra 2001 and I filled out a survey saying they had bad customer service, the normal use of a rental while they fixed it for days was not granted. I am so upset I spent a day out in the az sun waiting for a tow of 205 miles to the next dealership and they tell me I have a bad record with them and don't deserve the courtesy of a rental car. This is my second hyndai and I have had nothing but trouble with it and the dealership. I have sent letters to the attorney general, three on my side, hyndai and earnhardts dealership. I want out of this car and don't feel safe in it any more. I was going down the salt river canyon (if you are not from az picture going down the twisting road to the grand canyon) without any power steering, brakes and trying to keep control of the car with kids in it. And they tell me I shouldn't be excited! 1 1/2 hrs in the sun waiting for the tow, the next dealership 200 mi away, no rental cars authorized, so my husband has to drive up and get me (198) miles from my house and go back so he could be at work in 3 hrs. No sleep for him. The dates are 3, 4, 6 of 2002 and now 6/6/03. The mileage is 27,694. The cost is theirs because it has the 100,000 warranty. Just the mental and physical anguish and inconvience of another car that won't work right now. It was Sunday, June 15, 2003 when this electrical equipment issue happened.

The ac and radio controls basically none of the dashboard controls are working including defroster which is big safety hazard and as per Infiniti dealership its a radio and circuitboard issues. After looking at internet I have found that there was a recall campaign (voluntary service campaign 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan; audio finisher circuit board) for this issues -> itb03-007b service campaign -> issue description listed below available on the internet. But Infiniti dealer is not accepting any recall on this ground and they are asking for 1300+ bucks to fix this issue. Can someone please help as I can live without ac and climate controls but not without defroster. Also its a trouble that ac auto turns on at full blown speed which cause too much cold in winter and its a health risk for myself and family including 2 kids. Description from internet - on some model year 2003 G35 sedans manufactured through August 21, 2002, the audio and temperature controls may not operate as expected. When using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit may become inoperative. In some cases, this can be corrected by turning the ignition switch off and back on again. In other cases, the unit remains inoperative and requires service by an Infiniti technician. To prevent this condition, Infiniti has initiated a voluntary service campaign to replace the audio finisher circuit board on these vehicles. Use Infiniti net to confirm if a specific vehicle is affected by this service campaign (p3104). This problem occurred on Jun. 1, 2012.

car   Electrical Equipment problem of Lincoln Town Car

The vehicle was a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. We purchased two new towncars from germain linc. -merc. , naples, FL, in 1999 and 2000 my car's,VIN lnhm81woxy706952, 1999 Town Car, and my wife's 2000 Town Car, VIN 1lnhm81w8yy880866. My first complaint is regarding my car that developed electronic problems right after it ran out of warranty, and needed a $500 repair. A week later, it developed a leak, and was repaired at $1000. Is this planned obsolecence? this was at 56,000 miles of use. Shouldn't the dealer check basic systems and make sure they are well maintained? my wife's towncar has a far more serious and hazardous history. She, along with our grandsons, experienced a tire blowout at 33,000 miles. After the tire was changed to the spare, she drove to the dealer and was told that both rear tires should be replaced for safety. She agreed. When she picked up the car, all 4 tires (!)had been replaced at the cost of $548. There was no price adustment for any of the 4 tires removed. On 12-23-02 (3 days later) she reported to the dealer that the brakes were noisy (squeaked). When she got the car, the bill for the brakes was $420. When driving our 2 daughters and 2 grandsons the following day, the brakes did not hold, and she was unable to stop at a red light, nearly hitting the car in front of her. Only by forced pumping with both feet, and swerving into the turn lane, did she avoid a crash. Had cars been coming in that turn lane, any number of people, particularly in our family, could have been killed. Shouldn't the customer "advisor" advise a minor brake-pad replacement rather than wait for a major expensive/dangerous problem? we strongly doubt that we would consider another Ford product. This is a short history of 2 regularly-dealer-maintined luxury cars. This electrical equipment issue occurred Apr. 15, 2003.

car   Electrical Equipment problem of Mazda MPV

The vehicle is a 2002 Mazda Mpv. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JM3LW28A22_. I bought this car for 6 months, the engine light on twice, didn't fix it first time, the advisor said the gas tank cap is not close tight enought. Couple of days later, the engine light is one again, this time they found control system incorrect flow, small leak, hose off of purge valve at air cleaner housing. Car pulls to left on highway and right on local street. Brought in 4 time, admit alignment on the 3rd time and fix it, but still pull. Brought in again the fourth time, said found no pulling problem. We complaint that the car occasionally jerk when press gas paddle, the jerk feeling simliar to the way the car got hit in behind. They found no code for it. The car beep, they can't find any code for it. There are many problem we found in the car, but they said they can't find the code. One advisor think that the car's pulling because the car is too high. Also, it happen 3 times since I bought the car that after I placed the gear to reverse, then place it back to drive, the car won't go but the engine run. To fix it, then I place the gear back to park and to drive, then the car back to normal run. I'm very regretful to have bought this car. It has so many problem and the dealear doesn't seem to want to fix the problem either. I'm, the consumer have to paid financially, and mentally for this car. It is a disaster. car   Electrical Equipment problem of Mercedes Benz S Class

The car involved is a 2000 Mercedes Benz S Class. My major concern is the failure of my accelerator to respond. This could have easily been a fatal accident. I was beginning to enter the interstate and the accelarator simply failed to respond. Immediately got it to the shop and they replaced the pedal valve sender, pedal housing assembly, and input new codes for the pedal valve sensor. I was charged $361. 03. Apparently many of the S Class cars have computer problems and I believe this model should be recalled to check pedal valve sensors and to install a saftey back up of some type. Many people could have already been killed because of this potentially serious problem. The suspension problem centered around the airmatic system. 1st in the shop on sept. 6,2002 mileage 46,521. Second malfunction March 21st. Mileage 53,846. This is when they charged me. Next occurrence April 3, 2003. Mileage 54,150. The dealership eventually refunded $585. 89 of those charges with no explanation how they arrived at that number. Accelerator failed on January 6, 2003 mileage 51,934. I had to take my car to daytona beach, 30 miles away, 10 times in just over 10,000 miles. Daytona beach has been very helpful but my attempts to deal with their corporate office have been meet with a condescending and uncooperative attitude. It is clear that their once terrific image of quality and customer satisfaction is a thing of the past. As information I have shared this information with the USA president of mercedes paul halata. I wrote him on April 3 and again on may 14 since I received no reply. He had a customer service rep. Who answers the phone write me a terrible letter that had the wrong car and wrong VIN. He was the same guy I called when the problems first began who did not return my calls. Nevertheless, the accelerator issue is a serious issue, everything else is just the new way of doing business in America. This electrical equipment problem happened on 09/15/2002.

Today when I went to clean it out (happened at night)I saw that a hole was burned through the bottom of the passenger side dash board. Also I noticed that there was smoke/fire residue on the windshield coming from the defrost vents. Before any of this happened the airbag ligts were coming on and there was a burnt plastic smell and a scent of ammonia smell coming from god-knows-where. When I looked under the hood everything looked normal. I have been unable to go to work for 2 days now. Please tell me if there is anything that I can do. Thanking you in advance for your assistance. car   Electrical Equipment problem of Nissan Sentra

The car involved was a 2001 Nissan Sentra. There was crash involved with this problem. My engine failed again while driving 70 mphs on the freeway, the very day after the car had been repaired for yet another defect sensor. It was a miracle I did not crash and kill anyone including myself. Each and every time I have taken the car in, I have requested it be checked for a short in the wiring. Each time I was told no. I later learned thar meant if it didn't show up on the computer, then they wouldn't look for it specifically. Following the latest hazard, I got in Nissan's face. Nissan found a defect oxygen sensor this time. Upon retesting the vehicle, the emc (the brain of the vehicle) was found to be defective. I was also told had I driven the car any longer, the air conditioning unit would have blown too. Well, that explains all the lousy gas mileage this past year. So, here it is a week later and my vehicle remains in the shop with a back ordered emc with no available stock date in sight. I am renting a vehicle and am receiving very little assistance from Nissan as to getting a rental vehicle in the meantime. I am quite concerned I have purchased a brand new spanking yellow lemon. I am quite concerned this vehicle, even with a new emc, will produce other defective sensors once the warranty has expired due to wear and tear from the old one. There are 45 sensors in the vehicle and only 5-10 have blown so far. I am quite certain others are close to failure too. I am just as concerned when both the Nissan representative and the service manager told me this part has been on back order for a very long time as so many vehicles have endured this problme, that the vehicle has not yet been recalled. This issue happened on Mon., Apr. 15, 2002.

The car involved was a 2006 Toyota Sienna. Master head unit, including navigation, rear camera, bluetooth, and stereo, stopped working. It makes a clicking noise but the screen is dead and does not respond at all. Appears to be from a design defect that causes overheating of the unit over time. Multiple reports of similar failures are all over the internet. This is a significant safety issue as the rear camera, bluetooth, and navigation are all important items for extra safety in operating the vehicle. car   Electrical Equipment problem of Volvo V70

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Volvo V70. I read about your company in this past Sunday's philadelphia inquierer. The air conditioning in my Volvo no longer works, and I needed to replace the throttle body control. There are technical service bulletins on both of these items. I have not made the air conditioning repair yet because the estimate is $1600. I wrote Volvo a letter on 5/15/03 about the air conditioning problem & asked them to call me. They wrote me a letter dated 5/19/03 & essentially denied any responsibility. I replied on 6/5/03 & again asked that they call me, but they did not. I called Volvo on 7/8/03 and they said they would not change their position. In looking for the tsbs on my air conditioning problem, I also found one on a throttle control problem that I had previously replaced. There were definitely drivability problems with the throttle body before I had the repair made. The problem was once I started getting up to around 55-60 mph, the driving would hesitate. I originally thought it might be a transmission problem, as the problem drove similar to a transmission "slipping". They replaced the throttle body, not cleaned it like the TSB mentions. My feeling is that if these two items are design flaws, for which the design has since been corrected, then Volvo should repair my vehicle regardless of the fact that it was out of warranty. I bought my Volvo new on 3/16/2000 and it currently has 88,000 miles. The warranty was for four years/50,000 miles. It was Aug. 15, 2002 when this electrical equipment issue occurred.
