car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Chevrolet Cruze

The car was a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. During acceleration I smell gas, oil burning, exhaust fuels in my car. I have taken it to the dealer who keeps stating it running like it should. Now I believe my warranty is over and my new car functions like its 20 years old. I can't get them to believe me and I don't believe they even bother test driving it. I mentioned the smell when I brought my car in for them to replace my turbo charger that malfunctioned. Ever after. This engine burning oil issue occurred 01/02/12.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Chevrolet Equinox

The car is a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The VIN of this Equinox is 2GNALBEK6C_. The 2012 chevy Equinox stall constantly below 30 mph. It stalls at least 2 to 3 times trying to back out of garage to move it 10 feet. The idle startes off smooth but within 10 seconds the Equinox starts idling rough and jerking, then it stalls. When stopped at stop light the Equinox jerks back and forth, when I give it gas to go, the Equinox jerks foward and usually dies on me. It burns a large amout of gas and oil, I have to refill the oil up at least once a week. I have changed the oil myself and found the oil is saturated with metal filings. The check engine light comes on and off repeatedly. I have already replaced the battery twice because of a dead cell. I have replaced the front right tire due to a blow-out at 24,000 miles and dealership refused to replace it, saying I hit something and it could not have blown out. The entire navigation system in out and the lights flicker in the cup holders. The tire pressure sensors when out for at least 5 days and it started working again with no repair of the system. This is not a safe vehicle to drive considering, I don't know when it is going to stall drining down the highway. A recall is mandatory for full replacement!!!!. This issue happened on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Dodge Grand Caravan

In December of 2011, we decided to check the oil in our 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan because the sound of the motor seemed to have changed. The van seemed to be running a little louder. We checked the oil, and sure enough there was no oil on the stick. We didn't know what happened to the oil. We wasn't sure if it leaked or burned. We brought the vehicle into the dealership. They asked if we noticed the oil leaking, we said no. They said in situations like these we document the mileage and top the oil off and have you come back up to 1000 miles later. So we did. We did this several times. The dealership admitted this shouldn't be occurring and the vehicle is definitely burning too much oil. They kept the van made a claim with nac our van warranty company to pay for expenses of repair, and nac sent back a report saying Chrysler vehicles are expected to burn up to a quart to a quart and a half of oil for every 750 miles driven. So they sent us away without repairs. Literally less than a week and about 550 miles later we were back at the dealership with more than 2 quarts of oil documented being burned. The dealership kept our van for repairs again. . . The warranty refused to pay for repairs and we are driving the van as is. . . Im not sure of the safety issues but im sure there are many that can be assessed. I've searched the web and we are not the only consumers who are having this problem. We carry our family of seven to and from school etc and the purpose of newer vehicles are to ensure safety and eliminate worries of problems. Please help. The failure date was Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Dodge Grand Caravan

The vehicle was a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 2D4GP44L17_. Dear sir/madam: my 2007 Dodge minivan manufactured by Chrysler has a defective engine. The 3. 8l engine burns oil and oil consumption tests done proved the same. I was made aware of this issue by mechanics outside of dealership service which when notified back, reluctantly accepted the issue and went on to state that I had to pay to fix the problem related to worn out piston rings. Repairs of this nature are expensive and on brief research on internet, other customers have experiences the same problems. When vehicle was under warranty, I encountered many engine related symptoms like sluggish performance, engine whining or hissing noise and such. It's my belief that Chrysler service failed to do necessary tests to detect this issue. This engine burning oil issue occurred 05/06/11.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of GMC Sierra 1500

The car was a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. I had a 2007 GMC sierra. Throughtout the life of this vehicle I've ask why the 5. 3l motor burns a quart of oil or more during oil changes. Constantly ask multiple dealers to inspect and they continued to state that's just this engine and would never mark paperwork to check. Always stated it will burn a little oil in between oil changes. I continued to believe this as other owners of this vehicle type told me same information. On or around Feb 7, 2014 engine dropped cyclinders and lost most power to vehicle while on interstate. I'm concerned as it lost power and dramatically slowed but also that I've had a faulty product since buying and no recall was issued. I maintenanced this vehicle properly. After telling me the cost to replace the 2 cyclinders or engine I had a decision to make. This engine should be recalled as it has major problems. Unfortunately gm didn't recall the engine and fix it properly within my warranty timeframe. I even bought extended warranty. Now I've had to buy new truck which I wouldn't have bought if engine was still running in 2007 GMC truck. These "eco" engines need to be reviewed. The failure date was 02/07/2014.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of GMC Sierra 1500

The vehicle having this issue was a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500. 70,000. Miles low oil light comes on, just had my oil changed 1000 mile before. Took in to gm dealer they told me oil pan gasket was bad. Repaired. 1000 miles later low oil light came on, took back to dealership. No issue found. Truck just burning oil! the truck keeps using 2 to 3 quarts of oil dealer will not do anything. Call gm they advise to go to dealership and do oil consumption test. Did this taking it back to dealership every 500 miles to have oil checked. Used 2-1/2 quarts of oil between oil changes. Told dealer this was not normal to fix my truck. Dealer advised gm would not fix my truck because this is normal usage. It is now using about 3 quarts between oil changes. Gm told me to go back to dealer to have another oil consumption test done. We see they hide problems well, as was the last recall. How about getting them to address or fix this issue. They are still advertising the afm engine , and raising the normal oil useage from a quart to 2 quarts. As anyone can see with the latest recalls they will hide or not acknowledge the problem. They are worried about their bottom line. Not the customer. See how many changes and service bullitons have been issued due to this oil consumption issue. My gm case # 71-1118075589. They tend to close these case numbers quick. And then they assign you another case number each time you call customer service to hide the fact they have problems. When dealer does oil consumption I find they do not show anything back to gm or attach a record to your VIN #. Last couple of time I spoke to gm customer service, they had no record of me ever having an oil consumption problem. And my last case number did not show up in their system. All you have to do to see the problem is "google " gm 5. 3 oil consumtion problem. You will find more than a few complaints. This engine burning oil issue occurred Oct. 5, 2012.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Acura RSX

The vehicle was a 2003 Acura Rsx. The VIN of the problem Rsx is JH4DC53053_. Fog light cracked they blamed it on me replaced it and it cracked again 1 week later and they fixed it again blaming it on road vibration. It took Acura 3 times to fix my sticking map lights. My car was at Acura for 1 1/2 weeks for a buzzing sound from the engine they found a buzzing wire after all that time. Transmission was also grinding and they never fixed it. My car's oil has been disappearing since I bought it. My low oil light comes on after 800 miles after topping off. At 13949 they started an oil test "they were tiring to tell me it was normal to loose 1qt every 500 miles. They also blamed it on my oil mobile 1. So I paid $75. 00 for Acura to change it. They insisted that to do any work on my car they need me to come back to Acura every 500 miles for "Acura" oil which I did for 3 times until I noticed oil coming from the back of my engine 23396 miles they replaced head gasket. Brought car home and it was leaking even more. Brought back and they said now that the timing cover was distorted at the rate of the leak there was no way to drive the car so it was left at the dealer for a week till the parts came in. They replaced timing cover. Car is still loosing oil and my transmission is now grinding worse than it ever has. Which is a common problem among Rsx model cars now they say the oil is burning? still not fixed. This issue happened on 01/30/03.

I immediately took it to another dealer to get inspected, where I found out that the vehicle was burning oil badly and had done enough damage to ruin the motor, thankfully I had purchased an extended warranty and it was seen as a manufacturer's defect, but still I am without a car for the next month while the new motor is installed. car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Honda Accord

The vehicle was a 2008 Honda Accord. I have noticed that I am in need of oil changes more frequently than in the past. Historically, I went every 3,000 miles. Now, I notice the vehicle gets "sluggish" around 2,200-2,500 miles. I get an oil change, and everything is usually good. . . . . For about another 2,200 miles. The vehicle is driven daily all open highway. 2 weeks ago, I got a full service oil change from a dealer. On 5/19/14 my check engine light went on, the vsa light, and the (!) light. I immediately pulled over and checked that all hoses were interact, I could not hear any air leaks, etc. I checked the oil stick and it was essentially bone dry! (the engine was warm) no oil slicks puddles in the driveway, parking spaces, nothing! I immediately put 2 quarts in at the gas station, fresh gas, and the everything turned off! is it possible to be burning oil that quickly? I hope not! I'll be monitoring this closely. car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Jeep Liberty

The vehicle was a 2003 Jeep Liberty. I have known 2 other people with this issue, I have been the only one with fire. My Jeep is leaking oil from the engine seal that is just above the passenger side upstream exhaust (right before the passenger side catalytic converter. I smelled burning oil and I got under the car and there was a small fire which I extinguished with my rag. The problem is also a huge health issue. If you are stopped at a light, or stop sign and have the heat or a/c on. The interior of the vehical becomes filled with the burning smell. Smoke bellows out from under the vehical at these stops also. I am afraid of the thing bursting into flames at a light and being helpless. I know 2 other people that have this exact issue. One of them got rid of their vehical, the other still has it. This is a major defect that will result in fire, or as I see it cancer due to the smoke entering the vehical. car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Mazda MAZDA6

The car is a 2004 Mazda Mazda6. Mazda 6 v6 made in the Ford/Mazda auto alliance factory in flat rock, mi. The miles/speed I listed are actually n/a - this is an ongoing problem that has existed for most of the 10 years I've owned this car. I complained about smelling burning oil coming into the car's cabin since the car was only 1 year old, but the Mazda repair techs appeared to "never notice the smell". It was more than a year or so after my warranty ended - despite a dozen instances of complaining to Mazda dealers of this smell - that I realized my problem was oil leaking from my v6 motor's timing chain cover. The oil leaks down the side & bottom of the motor & drips (only while driving, never while resting) onto the top of one of the exhaust system's catalytic converters. The intense heat of the converter vaporizes the oil, the result of which enters the car's cabin through the hvac system. I have been adding a quart of oil almost every two months for years now, breathing this carcinogenic vapor and worrying about an engine fire for the better part of a decade now. Leading up to discovering the leak, I had replaced my valve cover gaskets & oil pan & gaskets at great cost. The proper repair for this would likely require removing my car's engine & a 12 hour repair at $100 per hour, and that's just the labor. When researching this problem, it appears in online forums to be a consistent problem for hundreds (likely thousands) of owners, and variations of this Ford-made v6 engine are installed in a dozen Ford and Mazda cars. I firmly believe that over the years Ford - knowing this was a consistent problem - advised it's dealer network to keep hush-hush and pretend to not understand or notice the problem in an effort to avoid a costly recall campaign. I feel that the time has come for Ford, not Mazda, to pay the piper, and I would like my car repaired without a financial hardship placed upon me. It was Thursday, March 16, 2006 when this engine burning oil issue occurred.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Mazda Cx-7

The car is a 2008 Mazda Cx-7. The VIN of the problem Cx-7 is JM3ER29L58_. Sudden loss of power as the turbo stopped working. The Mazda dealership claimed that the turbo broke due to sludge in the engine. There was a lot of sludge in the engine, however, the car was well maintained with regular oil changes. It seems that the median engine temperature is hotter than is appropriate for the specified oil in the owners manual. This results in oil burning and sticking to the inside of the engine. Eventually a piece of "sludge" will come loose and clog the oil tube to the turbo, resulting in the turbo unit overheating and breaking. Mazda seems to be aware of this problem as they were pressured to extend the warranty on this part. However, the problem is very serious and there should be a recall of the turbo unit and clarification in the owner's manual. Mazda has yet to agree to fix the turbo and "sludge" in my engine. They are still insisting that I did not maintain the vehicle well. Fyi- I was a car designer with Honda/Acura for 4 years who designed the 2009 - 2012 mdx. I am stating this because I know SUV's and how to maintain them very well. This issue happened on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Mercedes Benz SLK

The car involved was a 2005 Mercedes Benz Slk. The contact stated the car was burning an excessive amount of oil. The vehicle used two quarts of oil at only 5, 500 miles. The dealership test drove the vehicle and found that the valves were not seated. Also, at times while pressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle will not move it will only rev the engine. The dealership was contacted, they told her the next time this occurred to shut the engine by putting the car in park and turning the key to the off position. There have been no repairs made to the transmission because the dealership did not have enough information to make any corrections. Updated 2/24/2006 - the vehicle was towed tot he dealer on 1/26/2006 and told that there was a problem with the transmission. The vehicle was left at the dealer for the repairs to be made. The vehicle was returned to the consumer. On 1/26/2006 the vehicle again suddenly stopped moving forward while the consumer was traveling 55 mph. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer. car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Mitsubishi Lancer

The car was a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution. My car was purchased on 11/23/05. One week after purchase, service manager informed me that my oil was really low and added a quart of oil. He advised me to check the oil level regularly. I noticed that I had to add a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so. I voiced my concern to the service manager when I had my first oil change and was told that "a quart of oil loss per 1,000 miles is normal". I checked my oil regularly to avoid any problems until one day, I found out about oil consumption tests. I told the service manager about it and he arranged to have it done on my next oil change. The first oil consumption test revealed abnormal results which prompted them to repair the problem. Another oil consumption test was done and it showed a more favorable result. I check the oil level regularly and still notice that I add a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. I spoke to the service manager about it and was told that it was normal. I went to another dealer to have the oil consumption checked. The first oil consumption test revealed a quart of oil loss per 1000 miles and the second test revealed an abnormal result of a quart and a quarter oil loss per 1000 miles. I was then told by the service representative to contact Mitsubishi corporate office to report the result. Now I'm asking for your assistance in solving this problem. Thank you. This issue happened on 05/02/2007.

car   Engine Burning Oil problem of Nissan Altima

The VIN of this Altima is 1N4AL11DX2_. Nissan Altima 2. 5 auto transmission. Nearly killed me. Car suddenly went to 20 mph on the interstate in heavy traffic with 18-wheel 30 ton vehicle behind me. Burns oil like crazy. Put in better synthetic oil, burns faster. Had the car die on the interstate at 75mph right in front of an 18-wheeler. Could have died. Could have been killed by the Nissan corporation. Know any good lawyers? this is really dangerous, Nissan should recall and replace this engine. Replaced catalytic converter, O2 sensor, pre-catalytic converter, spark plugs, some other related stuff. Burns oil even faster than before. Completely ran out of oil in 300 miles. I am trying 10-40 oil to see if the oil burning problem will slow down. Car only has 125000 miles on it. Complete pos. Never buy a Nissan, I never will again. This was my first, only 125k on it. I am used to selling perfectly good Ford and vws at 250k miles. On the internet most people fail the pre-cat and catalytic converter by 95000 miles, then overheat and blow the entire engine. Cars stopping suddenly at 75 miles an hour are going to kill people. Since Nissan is well aware, this is pre-meditated murder. Other symptoms: no power, no acceleration, no response by Nissan dealer. Nissan "service" is a joke. Never take a car to Nissan for repairs. Unrelated sign of really really bad engineering: paint is falling off car. Never had that happen to a car before, I have a 14 year old Ford with 240k and the original paint job, even though it is not garaged. It was 04/01/2014 when this engine burning oil issue occurred.
