car   Engine Failure problem of Chevrolet Sonic

The vehicle having this issue was a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. I was driving down a long, steep bridge at a cautious speed and reached over to adjust the radio volume. When I placed my right hand back on the steering wheel something didn't feel right so I quickly verified that I had brakes and lights, but no engine power. I shifted into neutral and restarted the engine. The only reason for the engine failure that I could figure out at the time was that I had jarred the key chain with my coat sleeve, inadvertently turning off the engine. This was a rental car and the two sets of keys had been permanently crimped together by a cable. I had called the rental company a few hours after picking up the car at the airport to find out how to separate the keys and was told this was intentionally done to keep the sets together in case the car was dropped off at a different location. A month or so later I learned of the government investigation of the defective ignition switch in gm vehicles that could turn off the car if jostled or weighed down by a heavy key ring. The car was a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. Fortunately it didn't lead to an accident, but it was a close call and was made even more frightening due to the position on the bridge. From now on I will not rent any gm cars and will insist that the key chains be separated. It was Saturday, January 18, 2014 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Chrysler 300

The car is a 2005 Chrysler 300. The VIN of this 300 is 2C3JA43R45_. The 2005 Chrysler engine failed without warning on the interstate in the middle of heavy traffic . I lost all engine power possibility facing a steering lock down without the capacity to steer the vehicle off the interstate. After prior engine internal maintenance and regular oil changes the engine still failed placing my family lives in jeopardy. I was able to steer the vehicle with more effort to the roadside safely. The Chrysler 2. 7 liter engine according to manufactures and consumers reviews is an ongoing problem, could lead to the safety of drivers on the road check it out for yourself. This engine is prone to break down and should be reviewed for safety reasons , thank god I was not killed on the highway I had no escape, I could have been rammed from the back of the vehicle or if I or my family were foolish enough to get out of the vehicle we could have been instantly killed. It was Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Dodge Durango

2004 Dodge Durango limited, 5. 7l hemi, purchased on 5/15/13. Extended warranty purchased with vehicle at time of sale. Vehicle has been returned for service five times to date for same root issue. In under one year, only approximately 2600 miles have been driven due to lack of reliability and service related problems. In this case, the root problem is known to the service department and is not unique to this specific vehicle, but rather a known issue with this year, make and model. Chrysler is unable to provide direction or any technical support to assist the service department with solving the issue. It has been clearly acknowledged by the dealership service department, as well as Chrysler directly, that this matter involves a manufacturing defect that has not been corrected and was never issued as a recall. Most recently, I was notified that engine damage had been repaired and the vehicle was ready to be picked up. In the same conversation, however, I was advised that the cause of the damage, being the defect that allows water to enter the engine compartment during heavy rain or car washes, was not rectified. This issue is clearly unresolved and the safety of my family and other motorists could be in jeopardy if catastrophic engine failure were to occur. Chrysler has opted to ignore this frequently reported issue and simply push those who complain away. It was May 15, 2013 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Ford Escape

The vehicle involved is a 2014 Ford Escape. The VIN of this vehicle is 1FMCU0J95E_. For the first incident, the car's warning light came on and said "engine failure - service immediately. " I attempted to proceed to the dealer for service but, before I made it off of our street, the car began to shake and shudder violently, then died in the middle of the road. I was able to get it to coast to a small parking area. As it would not start again, it required a tow to the dealer. The dealer informed me that it was a sensor issue and ensured that it was repaired and would not happen again. Today (may 10th) a similar issue occurred, though this time it was while I was pulling into traffic. Again, the same warning light came on. I attempted to turn and get the car home but, before I could do this, the car began to shake again and the engine lost power. This required another tow to the dealership for repair; the vehicle is presently in the shop. This issue happened on Tuesday, Apr. 1, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Ford F-150

The vehicle involved was a 2013 Ford F-150. The ecoboost engine looses power on take off in rainy weather. I has happened six times. The most recent was this morning 04/07/14. The problem occurs when the truck is taking off from a stop, such as traffic light or stop sign. The main problem seems to be the rain. After driving in rainy weather for a prolonged period of time the truck will not take off from a dead stop. The engine looses power and shakes violently. This morning while taking me daughter to school we pulled into traffic and tried to get up to speed. The engine failed and we had to pull to the side of the road. This has become a safety issue. It was not raining this morning but I did drive for several hours in the rain yesterday. I have contacted the dealer and they tell me my tuck already has the fix from Ford. This engine failure problem happened on Sep. 17, 2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of GMC Envoy

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 GMC Envoy. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1GKDT13S62_. Over the years I owned this vehicle, I had it serviced numerious times for engine failure. The last and final time, the dealership (ewing automotive) could not find anything wrong. However, while traveling on the highway at 60 miles an hour with a full tank of gas, I lost all power steering control and the car stopped dead. This was extremely dangerous and led me to take a minimal amount in a sale, just to get rid of this dangerous car. It is very disappointing to learn that gm was fully aware of this deadly issue. This engine failure issue occurred 04/15/2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle is a 2009 GMC Acadia. Current issue is a transmission failure, apparently the "3-5-r waveplate. " five months prior, my wife and children were traveling out of state. They experienced a sudden loss of power and were stranded on a rural highway not once, but twice. The vehicle was towed in to a gm dealership, "repairs" were performed under warranty, and we were told we could pick up our car. My wife (again with children in the car) made it less than 10 miles from the dealership before the engine failed again. This time on the bridge of a major highway. . . . No where to even exit the vehicle. After the second incident the engine was replaced (after 3+ weeks of diagnostic work). We were told the dealership was not able to identify the problem that caused the engine failure. Engine was replaced under warranty. Transmission had been shifting erratically for several months. At time of engine failure/replacement, gm dealership that performed the engine replacement advised us that the transmission shifts/slips were "normal" for this particular transmission. They advised a transmission fluid flush, which we authorized. Shifting remained abrubt, slipping continued, but as we were advised this was "normal", we continued driving the vehicle and did not seek further repair. Two weeks ago, (now six weeks out of warranty), the slippage became distictly more evident, vehicle at one point wound not continue forward motion through an intersection and had to be idled to roadside. After multiple calls, we were advised to take the vehicle to a local gm dealership. Diagnosis of 3-5-r waveplate failure was given. This transmission waveplate failure is a well documented issue that can cause driver and/or passengers to be put at serious risk for injury. Our hope is that an investigation will take place to require gm to recall/repair this issue before someone is needlessly harmed. The failure date was Monday, Jun. 24, 2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of Acura TL

The VIN of the car is 19UUA66288_. My car is a 2008 Acura Tl with 2000 miles. It had a "major engine failure" to quote the Acura dealer. A piston rod broke and destroyed the engine along with the oil pan. I was told this is extremely rare if ever that it has happened. I was also told this information was passed along to the highest levels of the Acura corporation. When the engine died I was on a busy road and had to be pushed into a parking lot. The car had to be towed 120 miles away since I do not live close to a dealer. I had to have someone drive me to the dealership to pick up a loaner car. I asked for a new car, instead I was told that I was only entitled to an engine replacement. This seems out of line considering the extreme damage the car suffered. If I were Acura, I would be concerned that this is either metal fatigue or human error in assembly. Either, would certainly call into question other cars that were produced on that assembly line. The failure date was Saturday, June 28, 2008.

car   Engine Failure problem of Acura MDX

The vehicle is a 2003 Acura Mdx. The VIN of this Mdx is 2HNYD18233_. The vehicle starts shaking, feeling like I am running over metal bumps in the road. I believe that the torque converter is the problem and that all of the larger Honda/Acura vehicles have a defective torque converter. It needs to be recalled before engine failure occurs and injuries/death are imminent. It was Aug. 1, 2010 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Honda CR-V

In line with the recent Mazda recall for yellow sac spiders found in the evac canisters, my Honda Cr-v had the same problem. Apparently, this is a problem that has affected Honda accords in the past because Honda has issued a service bulletin on installing a special filter for Honda accords to prevent the spiders from entering. However, no such bulletin or part exists for the Honda Cr-v. As such, after paying nearly $100 at the dealership for them to diagnose and remove the spiders, there is no guarantee that this can't happen again because they did not add a filter to prevent spider re-entry. At the minimum, these spiders with their resultant webs can severely limit gas mileage. At the worst, a fire or engine failure can result. I petition that Honda issue a recall for Honda Cr-v's and cover the labor and parts costs for placing a specialized filter to prevent spider re-entry. This problem occurred on Thu., Jun. 6, 2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of Honda Odyssey

The vehicle having this issue was a 2011 Honda Odyssey. 12/23/13-while driving on i95 at 65mph the vehicle engine shut off without warning but the radio/lights remained on, vehicle became difficult to steer and brakes had to be pushed to the floor, vehicle came to a stop on the side of the road approx 300 feet later. Vehicle restarted and was driven to dealership, dealer stated could not be replicated and that fuel system needed to be cleaned, service performed as suggested. 12/25/13- while coming to a traffic light, engine shut down without warning but radio/lights remained on, restarted and drove home. 12/26/13- while approaching stop sign vehicle engine failed but radio/lights remained on as in accessory mode, steering and braking became difficult to control vehicle, this time the engine light came on and remained lit. Van was towed to dealership to be repaired. Dealer stated no error code although the engine light was visibly on, no obvious reason for the vehicle to do this. Dealer suggested replacing engine control module at their expense. Repairs have not been completed yet as they are waiting on the part to arrive. During these failures there was no warning and little time to react, the van became near impossible to steer as if the steering wheel was locked when in the anti-theft mode after parking. The vans brakes although pushed to the floor did not respond immediately even while traveling at low speed. This engine failure problem happened on Dec. 23, 2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of Hyundai Elantra

The car was a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. While driving my vehicle at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly stalled without any apparent reason. I was in the middle lane of a three lane highway. I had to coast over to the side of the highway with no steering or brakes due to the engine failure. Once at the side of the highway, the vehicle re-started immediately and ran normally again for about a week when the same thing happened again, this time on a side street at approximately 15 mph. The vehicle once again started back up with no problem. It has run normally again as of this posting. This engine failure problem happened on Saturday, April 5, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The vehicle involved was a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1C4RJFAG8C_. This vehicle has recurring starting issues. At any time, cold or warm engine the ignition would engage and the engine fails to start. Service dealership has not identified any specific reason why this occurs. On January 8th, the same starting issue occurred and this time the engine light appeared. The service dealership has identified a bad cylinder head. There recommended repairs are replacement of the cylinder head and associated components. Service dealership stated the starting issue is not related to the cylinder head. They stated they would replace the fuel pump in an effort to resolve the starting issue. In discussions with Jeep customer service they stated the cylinder head issue is related to NHTSA campaign number: 11v487000. Upon reviewing this campaign it states the ?engine requires replacement?. I am not satisfied with a cylinder repair and a probable fix of the starting issue were the vehicle mileage is only 29k. I agree with NHTSA campaign requiring replacement of the engine. This issue happened on 01/09/2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Kia Motor Sorento

The vehicle was a 2012 Kia Motor Sorento. On March 14, 2014 while driving approximately 60 mph on a highway I heard a noise in my engine. I was attempting to maneuver off the highway so I could have my vehicle towed to the local kia dealership. I was in the middle lane of a three lane highway during rush hour when my engine shot one of the engine rods through the bottom of my engine block. This caused a larger than a silver dollar sized hole in the bottom of the engine block and separated the engine from where it is secured to the vehicle. Kia and the dealership have yet to be able to fix my vehicle which is completely covered under the manufactures warranty as I have had all of my routine maintenance and service preformed at a local kia dealership. They replaced a remanufactured short block assembly in my vehicle on 3/28/14 I was told to pick up my vehicle later that afternoon. I received a call back that the mechanic was on the phone with one of kia's engineers because of a noise coming from my engine. They are now re-replacing a remanufactured short block assembly in my vehicle which is unacceptable to me because of all of the issues kia is having with their engines. I still do not have an eta as of 4/9/14 of when I will have my vehicle repaired as I am unsure they have even diagnosed the problem correctly because of all of the force behind the engine failure and they are unsure when another remanufactored engine will be avalible. This engine failure problem happened on Friday, March 14, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Kia Motor Sportage

The car involved is a 2012 Kia Motor Sportage. I pulled a trailer for the first time on this date. The truck only made it 10 miles, and lost all power, and I barely made it off of the freeway. Brought it to the dealer, and they found the spark plugs blew apart. All they did was change the spark plugs and sent me on my way. On July 13th, I towed my camper, which was lighter than the last trailer I pulled. This time, about 6 miles into the trip, the engine completely let go on the highway. I had to get across 4 lanes of traffic with no power and a camper in-tow. Waited at the side of the road for an hour and a half before kia sent a tow vehicle. Discovered all 4 spark plugs were destroyed, and a hole in cylinder 3. Kia will not warranty it, blaming the engine failure on the camper not having trailer brakes(completely absurd). The first failure in June, the trailer weighed 500lbs more, and had trailer brakes. Kia does not want to admit fault for this extremely dangerous fault in their engine. The vehicle is rated for 2,000lbs towing capacity, and both trailers were well under the limit. My camper is only 1,155lbs. Complete engine failure on the highway put me and my entire family in danger twice. This is un-acceptable. This was a loaded sx awd. (turbocharged). It was Sunday, June 10, 2012 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Land Rover Freelander

The car involved was a 2004 Land Rover Freelander. The VIN of the problem Freelander is SALNE222X4_. Vehicle had engine failure and transmission locked up during acceleration. car   Engine Failure problem of Land Rover LR4

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Land Rover Lr4. I have had repeated failures driving multiple Lr4 and a range rover sport (I own both). If while driving the vehicle you lightly rest your foot on the brake pedal (for instance in driving in close quarters) the car will illuminate multiple wanring indicators including engine failure, brake failure, gearbox failure, parking brake failure, abs failure, traction control failure, stability control unavailable and cruise control unavailable. Generally when these condition occur these system will default to reduced functionality modes. This problem is reproducible and is a know issue with the dealer and lrna. Land rover has acknowledged this issue and has no current fix or planned fix. Its apparent cause is a two stage brake switch which causes a software fault when only one of the two switches is engaged. Land rover cannot confirm that the failure of these system does not compromise the safety of the car. At the least this frightens the driver with what appears to be a massive systems failure or at worst compromises virtually all the electronic safety systems of the car. This issue seems to apply to the Lr4, range rover sport, range rover and Jaguar models that use the same engine computer software and brake switch. My research has shown other owners have experienced similar issues. It was Thursday, November 18, 2010 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of Lexus RX350

The vehicle was a 2009 Lexus Rx350. While driving in the very busy freeway, the car suddenly stopped without any prior warning or any signal. Upon Lexus dealer inspection, the cause was , bolts used to secure the variable valve timing control device can become loose, one of the bolts came out and caused the timing chain to break and it broke the engine head, causing the vehicle to stop while being driven. Lexus has not recalled the RX 350 models, however on September 3, 2013 Lexus has recalled is 350, is 350c and GS 350 vehicles for the exact same reason. My car has always been serviced at Lexus dealer. According to Lexus service department, there was no way for me to prevent this or to know. The sudden stop of the vehicle in the freeway as the result of this engine failure could have caused a major accident which was very life threatening. These engines has to be recalled for inspection and repair by Lexus. Lexus did not accept the fault even though they accepted to pay partial part of the cost of the rebuilding the engine as a courtesy. This issue happened on 12/02/13.

Nissan has issued several several service bulletins related to defective timing chains, and noted that these can result in catastrophic engine failures, exactly as occurred. Dangerous. No warning and complete failure on a busy roadway, with loss of the ability to maneuver and extremely hindered ability to get to safety in time. Had I been going faster than 35mph, or had I been on a freeway, this could have been deadly. I discovered a class action lawsuit regarding this issue, and it appears this is affecting thousands of people. Nissan sold vehicles after it knew about the timing chain defects (the bulletins went out in 2005, and this vehicle was a 2006). Nissan deceptively kept this from consumers. Timing chain defects occur typically after warranty expiration, and they do not make you aware of the potential prior. Consumer unfairly burdened with full loss of engine and nearly the entire value of their vehicle. It was April 12, 2014 when this engine failure issue happened.

car   Engine Failure problem of Nissan Frontier

The car involved is a 2006 Nissan Frontier. While returning home, the vehicle lost all power and power steering. Difficulty navigating to safety on the side of a busy roadway. The engine in the vehicle had completely seized. Complaints to Nissan that something was wrong with this vehicle had been ongoing. The entire fuel system had failed at 40k miles. Both catalytic converters failed at 55k miles (thought to be related to an engine problem, but they would not fix it even under warranty). At 63k miles, the engine started to show signs of problems. Repeated analysis, for which I paid, resulted in no conclusion. Only that "something was wrong". Tried to engage Nissan multiple times to fix this. They refused. Now, the engine has failed entirely. Nissan will not acknowledge defective manufacturing. The vehicle was purchased brand new and has been meticulously maintained. The engine failure and the resulting loss of the ability to maneuver or operate the vehicle was, thankfully, on a road that had a low speed limit. Subsequent research related to this issue shows that there is a class action against Nissan for premature engine failures in these vehicles, and that they allegedly hid known issues and were deceptive to consumers. This problem occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of SAAB 9-3

The VIN of this vehicle was YS3FB49Y18_. Noticed our 2008 SAAB 9-3 2. 0 has been starting and idling rough in could weather. Once the car warms up to operating regular operating temperature, the car idles smoothly. Performed a compression test on the cold engine and found low compression on two of the four cylinders. Apparently, the intake valves in the cylinder on this model are wearing badly not seating correctly when the engine is cold. Once the engine warms up and expands, the valves seat correctly and engines runs normally. This is a catastrophic engine failure and gm should recall these cars to repair engine with the proper valves. I have requested quoted from two independent shops and they we $2100 and $2300 respectively. We haven't been able to start the car in a week. It was December 2, 2013 when this engine failure issue happened.

car   Engine Failure problem of SAAB 9-3

The reporting person's vehicle is a 2006 SAAB 9-3. While driving approximately 50 mph, the power steering failed. Immediately, the brake and accelerator pedals failed to respond and the engine stalled without warning. The engine failed to restart after several attempts. Roadside assistance was called to the scene and the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician stated that the failure was related to the idling within the computerized system. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on two separate occasions for identical failures. The technician stated that the failures were related to the temperature sensor, which was replaced. The failure continued and the vehicle is currently being repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 40,550. The failure date was Saturday, July 11, 2009.

car   Engine Failure problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle is a 2007 Saturn Vue. My truck only had 60,000 miles on it. While driving home I began to noticed some smoke coming from the hood of the truck. Being only a block away from the house I proceeded to the stop sign. I was going to park and check it out thinking that it was something minor. Just as I was about to turn the corner the unthinkable happened. While at the stop sign the smoke quickly ignited into flames under the hood of the truck. I quickly pulled over in front of my house. Turned off truck, jumped out and ran to the side yard for the hose. I yelled out for my wife call the fire department. She called immediately and I tried to control the fire until the police and fire truck arrived. I was afraid that it would explode and damage other cars around it. The fire spread under the hood of the truck, under the car and quickly into the interior though the dashboard. There was no warning of a problem with the vehicle. My wife is pregnant and we had just driven to her doctors appointment earlier that day in the truck and it drove well. There was no indicator light on to warn me of any problem with the engine, fuel or any other vehicle hazards. The car has not been in any accidents and has been maintained well. I did not receive any mail or email notification about recalls that disclosed a problem with this vehicle. The next day I retraced my path home and saw a trail of fluid in the street that lead to the spot that the car finally ended up in. So some kind of leak and engine failure took place that caused this awful fire. I am just so glad that I made it out alive and that it didn't happen to her while she was driving because she usually drives this vehicle. I need to know what recourse I have now to deal with this matter. It was Monday, October 14, 2013 when this engine failure issue happened.

The vehicle was a 2004 Saturn Vue. New vehicle with less than 2,500 miles-2004 Vue. They want to "fix" replace/repair engine failure. We know that other systems can/will be affected by total breakdown on interstate-immediate engine blow-no power etc. We are not satisfied with the "offer" of repair and minimum "warranty" coverage as "additionally courtesy offer". car   Engine Failure problem of Subaru Forester

The vehicle was a 2011 Subaru Forester. The VIN of the car is JF2SHADC8B_. I am being told by the manufacturer that the engine failed due to lack of oil changes. I changed the oil on 7/6/11 at 10,639 miles. The engine then failed at 22241 on 2/1/12. The engine holds 5. 5 quarts of oil but per the manufacturer had none in it at the engine failure. How does a new vehicle burn 5. 5 quarts of oil in 11602 miles? there was also no warning light of any kind to tell me that the engine oil was low. The manufacturer stated that the oil level had to be lower than 2 p. S. I for the light to go off and warn me and at that point the engine would already be damaged. I got no advance warning that there was a problem with my engine or the oil level. The engine simply stopped working. I am being told that I have to foot the bill in excess of $9500. 00 for a new engine. How can a manufacturer have an engine that does not warn the consumer that there may be a problem? I am very puzzled by this and the fact the Subaru dealership who said the warranty was voided is the same dealership charging me exorbitant rates for a new motor? please help or give me a suggestion. car   Engine Failure problem of Toyota Scion Tc

The car involved is a 2008 Toyota Scion Tc. My vehicle is almost 6 years old. It was brought brand new in June 2008. I've only taken it to an authorized dealerships since purchase for regular maintenance. The miles currently on my car is 70,775 and I was scheduled for my next maintenance check at 71,443 per the dealership maintenance sticker. Prior to this event, there was no indication that anything was wrong with the vehicle. As I was driving down I-95 south in emporia va on 05/21/2014 coming from washington, DC, I experienced engine failure while going the speed limit of 70 mph. I was able to coast safely to the side of the highway after avoiding multiple cars and trucks that almost crashed into me. My car insurance company was called. I was able to get towed to an approved repair shop through my insurance company. The diagnostic from the repair shop determined I would need a new engine due to "whole in the engine block caused by low oil" of which the least expensive was going to cost $4,000. I call the national scion center to report what happened. They advised me to take the car to the closest authorized dealer to have their company look at the vehicle which I did. Per the authorized dealerships diagnostic review "the technician found hole in block by cylinder #1, found piston wrist pin in bottom on engine cover, needs new or used engine". When I asked the technician what could have caused this he said the oil levels were very low and that the oil was also very dirty. I called scion to see what they were going to do about it and I was told nothing would be done because the car was over 60,000 miles. I find this very unsettling since the car was in great condition prior to this occurrence and there was so indication something was wrong. Like I mentioned, I've only always taken my car to an authorized dealership for maintenance services and I wasn't due for another service check for another 668 miles. It was May 21, 2014 when this engine failure issue happened.

car   Engine Failure problem of Toyota RAV4

The car involved was a 2003 Toyota Rav4. The vehicle with 71,000 miles and perfect service record had a engine failure, without warning, while driving on the highway. The oil pressure light came on and before I had time to pull over to the shoulder to inspect the engine started knocking badly. I barely made it to the shoulder before the vehicle stalled. After having it towed to the dealership, they came out with the diagnose that the "engine threw a rod" for no apparent reason. There was sufficient engine oil and last oil change was done 4500 miles before. Basically, engine at this point is beyond repair and has to be replaced. Beside the financial lose, now I extremely concern about the safety and reliability of the vehicle and more importantly the engine or any other part that caused the engine to fail. The fact that I had 10 years old boy in the car with me who thought that we were going to die that day and crying hysterically make it all the more bothersome. When I called Toyota headquarter to report the problem, they basically dismissed me as routine problem and not Toyota's problem. They seem disinterested to find out why engine with so few miles got busted for no reason and perfect maintenance record. I am concerend about the reliability and safety of the engine in the vehicle (1az-fe). I hope govt investigate this case and I am willing to participate in whichever way I can to make it safe for my fellow riders. The failure date was Saturday, April 5, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Volkswagen Beetle

The vehicle was a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle. The cam shaft adjuster bolt became loose and fell off. Causing catastrophic engine failure. I have discovered this a common failure for my model year after some research, but was told nothing about it from Volkswagen. I was driving on a 70 mile per hour highway when my engine failed. Losing all power (brakes, power steering, etc. ) with no warning. Newer model years do not have this problem because they redesigned the part. Had they told me about this problem I could have got it fixed before I endangered my life and my engine. 2006 vw Beetle 2. 5l bps engine. This engine failure issue occurred Monday, March 3, 2014.

car   Engine Failure problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle is a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. I was driving on the freeway (at speed) on my way to work when my 2010 Jetta tdi suddenly stalled. I was lucky that the engine did not lock up as I would have been rear ended. However, I continued to coast at speed. I was able to coast over to the shoulder. The car would not start. I contacted a tow truck to tow me into the dealership. The dealership informed me that the inter turbo cooler was damaged due to the cold weather. I was also told that due to the cold weather ? they had seen this same occurrence at least 4 times that day alone. Upon further research, it appears that a large number of owners in the us have experienced not being able to start, difficulty starting, and engine failure to due water being drawn into the engine from water condensing in the intercooler. Https://maps. Google. Com/maps/ms?msid=207335707442566723762. 0004b73a15cae256f489f&msa=0&iwloc=a this has caused cars to suddenly die while driving on public roads and highways with the potential of suddenly being hit by fast approaching traffic. It also seems evident that Volkswagen has known about this issue since last winter. There appears to be numerous tech bulletins on the subject. It was Thu., Jan. 9, 2014 when this engine failure issue occurred.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 Volvo Xc90. The counterbalance shaft broke resulting in engine failure. Volvo estimates repair at $5,0000. Ridiculous. Why doesn't Volvo fix this well known issue for loyal customers. I have had 5 Volvos in my life starting back in the 1980's and love the cars but this lack of care for customer welfare is just wrong. car   Engine Failure problem of Volvo XC90

The car is a 2005 Volvo Xc90. I own a 2005 v8 Xc90. Like so many others I am a recent member to the cb failure club. Yep. It's a club. The counter balance shaft failure club. This is a design defect that Volvo is aware of and does notthing to remedy the poor saps who own a 2005 with the first 6883 engines produced by yamaha for Volvo. After 6883 Volvo made changes to the design of the counter balance shaft, by drilling a weep hole to let moisture out. Unfortunately, my engine was in the 4000s. I live in southern California. About the driest climate you can get, but yet rust has destroyed my counter balance and thus destroyed my engine with only 80000 miles on it. Btw, I have had my engine serviced regularly. But the counter balance shaft is something that can not be serviced without tearing the engine apart. It lies int the valley of the v8. In my case, and in all the other cases I am reading about, the bearings rusted and the shaft rusted and it tore apart my engine block. Had I been driving on a freeway with my children and lost power it could have been fatal. How is it that this design flaw which causes catastrophic engine failure can be allowed not to be recalled? in fact, thanks to a overcharged alternator, I had just put a new $1400 computer in the car. Yet, the computer never read check engine. Why? because the computer is not monitoring the lubrication in a sealed bearing. And it is impossible without tearing the engine down for 10 hours (1200. 00 in labor) to get to the counter balance shaft to see the condition of it. Please, for the sake of others who might be unfortunate enough to drive this car and find themselves on a freeway when the engine blows due to cheap rusted bearings -- issue a recall!!!. This issue happened on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.

2004 Audi S4. Consumer states vehicle failed while driving, engine, power brakes and steering locked up the dealer informed the consumer, the vehicle had suffered catastrophic engine failure, which was most likely due to the failure of the timing chain or adjusters. The consumer was quoted a price of $24,000 for the repairs. The consumer has since learned it was a relatively common problem for his model and year. The specific mechanical flaw seemed to be that the timing chain coordinated the action between the pistons and the valves. The timing chain was supported by several plastic guides. The guides pushed against the chain by the adjusters. This problem occurred on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.

car   Engine Failure problem of BMW 330

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 BMW 330i. BMW na has issued a recall to address broken head bolts in a number of 2010 models, which can result in engine failure. I have spoken with several BMW owners and found that this issue extends beyond their initial recall into earlier models, but BMW na is ignoring the issue outright in the hopes that it will disappear. I have spoken with BMW na several times and they have given me the runaround for several months and put major smokescreens up in my attempt further the conversation/investigation of the issue. I'm reaching out to NHTSA because I have no other recourse and I know this issue is not a localized issue with one year model, but symptomatic of several years and models. Please help the driving public by assisting me in addressing this issue with BMW. It was 02/03/2014 when this engine failure issue occurred.

car   Engine Failure problem of BMW M5

The vehicle is a 2013 BMW M5. For the second while driving my vehicle it shutoff without warning while I was driving. The vehicle completely died leaving the car in gear with no way of moving the vehicle. The only way to move the vehicle out of park is if it is running. I lost all power steering, braking, and ability to control the vehicle. After about an hour passed while I was stuck in traffic with no way to move the vehicle, the vehicle then started and stated the battery was operating at a higher than normal discharge rate. Had I been on a major road I would have lost control of the vehicle due to the lack of steering and braking when the engine died. This is the second time this has happened. The first time my vehicle veered into the oncoming lane of traffic without warning when the engine failed. Had there been a vehicle in the other lane I would have been hit head-on. This problem occurred on Mar. 31, 2014.

Returned to the Buick dealer four times who claimed to fix the problem 4 times. It is currently in the dealer repair shop for further diagnosis and repair. This is a dangerous situation for a 72 year old women who is left stranded with the car engine dead and not turning over depending on the neighborhood and time of the day or night when this intermittent problem occurs. car   Engine Failure problem of Cadillac CTS

The car was a 2005 Cadillac Cts. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G6DP56715_. Engine quit without any warning (noise, engine warning light) going 55mph down highway. Engine is ruined. I bought this car new and kept it for almost 8 years. I had all routine and recommended maintenance done by dealer. I sold this to my friend who this happened to. I have determined this was probably caused by the gm recommended 10,000 miles oil change. Engine failures apparently have been happening for quite some time according to the internet and gm or my dealership never once told me to have the oil changed sooner or warned me about this. I feel this is a real safety hazard. If I would have pulled out on the freeway where I normally do to blend into 70 mph traffic and the engine would have failed, I would have had no place to pull over and coast to a stop as there isn't a shoulder for several yards. I could have very well been hit from the rear and a chain reaction accident with potential loss of life could have occurred. The failure date was Aug. 8, 2013.

car   Engine Failure problem of Jaguar XJ8

The car is a 1998 Jaguar Xj8l. About 2-3 times a month, while driving on the freeway (and only on freeways, never has this happened on city streets), always about 10 minutes on the road from a cold start, my accelerator will suddenly fail to respond while I've had my foot on the gas during steady driving of 55-75 mph. No indicator comes on at the time. I'm forced to merge to the side of the road on the momentum provided by the car as I am unable to get acceleration from the peddle. Once I brake to a stop & put the car in park I get an "engine failed" indicator and the red engine light comes on. So far, when I've turned off the engine and restarted it, I've been able to start the engine again without problem and continue on my way. However, these incidents are extremely dangerous given that our freeways often have no emergency lane to pull off to when they are under repair. There are various places on our freeways where I would have to stop in a moving lane before I was able to get the car to go again. I purchased the car used from a dealer in 2001. It was off a 3-yr lease by another owner. I had this problem in the early years of ownership (around 2002 @ 65,000) under a 6 year warranty and the dealer told me they rebuilt and then ultimately replaced the transmission at that time to solve the problem. I didn't have the problem again until 2012 but have since experienced it about 6 times over the last year (at 160,000). I called a local dealer to check on recall info and was told there's nothing currently, but that in 1999 my car had had a throttle cable adjuster modification under warranty. My research on this site tells me that the problem is the throttle body being dirty but that the only good solution is to replace it. The dealer is familiar with the problem but can't tell me how long a replacement will last me. The failure date was 10/01/02.

car   Engine Failure problem of Jaguar XK8

Jaguar Xk8. Vehicle with 54k miles always dealer services. Timing chain broke while driving, was able to get car out of traffic without incident. Contacted Jaguar and they did not even acknowledge there was a problem. Jaguar has known the plastic timing chain guides to be defective. The have had two design revisions and now put a metal guide in the cars since 2002. Jaguar does not advise owners or dealers to replace the guides which even without their assistance I would have had done at $800. The defective guide causes the chain to break and valve damage, a $7k repair. The dealer and independent repair shops tell me they are repairing these all the time in low mileage engines 45-70k and the internet is littered with the same. Hard to believe Jaguar has not been forced in to a recall or some type of voluntary repair program. Bottom line - engine part with known, documented defect, that causes catastrophic engine failure, with no action by the manufacturer. The failure date was Fri., Jul. 28, 2006.
