car   Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of Chevrolet Silverado

The vehicle is a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1GCHK33205_. The low coolant light went on. The only way to fill the system is to open the reservoir cap. Unfortunately because the engine had a head gasket failure the cooling system would not depressurize, even when cold. It seems to me that there should be a pressure cap that when the engine overheats it allows the cooling system to depressurize. This closed system is very dangerous especially when someone who is used to filling the overflow tank when the coolant is low. Because the lack of an over flow tank anyone that opens the plastic reservoir could became burned. This issue happened on 11/28/2012.

Of course after time it would leak but I have heard that the Tribute has a bad design with the oil pan and gasket. The dealership tried to sell me the new oil pan replacement for the defective one and the new gasket replacement for also that defective part. Mazda redesigned the oil pan with an embedded o ring in lieu of a gasket. The dealers want to sell the newly designed pan installed for $440 + tax (medford, NY). I would think that it is a defect and would like this agencies opinion. If the design was good from the start Mazda wouldn't put the time and money into redesigning the oil pan and gasket, and recommending the replacement. Mazda will not do the gasket replacement unless the new designed pan and gasket was used. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). car   Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of Saturn VUE

To whom it may concern; I am writing this letter to state how bad a 2002 Saturn Vue is on safety. I just came in from trying to tow my scooter mobility trailer up the hill in front of my house. The service engine soon light is on like it always is. I have tried to get something done about it on several occasions to no avail. One thing it says is that the engine temperature thermostat is sticking. I was told that it would cost me $400 to replace the thermostat. The vehicle does not have a thermostat problem. The temperature gauge always stays about 1/3 of the way between the second and third marks, winter or summer. The only difference between winter and summer is the length of time it takes to get fully warmed up. There is a hill between my community and the highway. It is about â½ mile long. In the summer, the vehicle is fully warmed up by the bottom of that hill. In the winter, it takes to the top of that hill before it is fully warmed up. I spent about #100 for a new thermostat and all the necessary gaskets to replace that thermostat and I still have the light and the temperature is still 1. 3 the way between the second and third marks. The main reason for my complaint of safety is that the vehicle will go into limp mode at any time, even while driving down the freeway, at freeway speeds, and suddenly I have no power to avoid an accident. Any vehicle with a check engine soon light should go into limp mode on startup, not randomly while driving. This issue happened on Aug. 3, 2008.

car   Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of BMW 325

The car was a 2003 BMW 325xi. Brought in my car to local mechanic three times for oil leak (oil on driveway, oil light sensor on dashboard illuminated). In each case, I thought the problem was fixed but after two weeks the dashboard oil light came on again. I thought my mechanic was inexperienced with BMW's, so I took it to a BMW dealer and all seemed fine ($1,000 repair) until two weeks later when the oil light yet again appears on the dashboard. I am taking it back to the BMW dealer next week for a second time. I believe every possible gasket has been replaced - remember it's been "repaired" for the same problem four times now, soon to be five. The problem started last year. I have place upwards of 15 quarts of oil (one quart of oil a week at times) in between mechanic repairs just to save up money to bring it back in for yet another repair. Nobody, including BMW seems to know why or where the oil leak is happening. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairs and as a consumer am getting tired of it. This engine head gasket failure issue occurred Jun. 11, 2012.
