Is or was or has this car had any recalls. For a 2006 veh with only 54,104 miles on it and have to put out the money to pay for work on a car with electrical problems, so far (intercontrol module) is not right. This problem caused the whole car to not respond at all (in luck we were at home when this happened)but, if we were gone it could have been a disaster if this would have happened while driving it shuts the whole car down, this is a disaster waiting to happen. Please help.

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Consumer states several issues with vehicle related to recalls
the consumer stated there was a smell of gasoline inside the vehicle, five sensors were bad, there was a problem with the fuel pump and fuel injection system. The rpm's jumped, when the vehicle was in cruise control mode, the cruise control would shut off for no reason. The consumer had a difficult time starting the vehicle, after she filled the tank, the vehicle would steer to the left, and there were times when the vehicle would jump out of gear.

The motor surges when in park & while idling at a stop sign. It has happened many times, and I have almost slammed into a pedestrian because it catches me by surprise. I removed the floor mat to ensure that is not the problem (it has happened 3 times since), and the last time it happened (last week) the car was in park, and the engine roared as if I was flooring the accelerator, on it's own.

My wife was driving the 2009 Chrysler town and country today when the throttle just began racing. This ocurrs completely at random. The dealer can't find a code and has just cleaned the throttle body in an attempt to fix this. Clearly, it hasn't fixed it. After a few seconds it returns to the commanded speed from the pedal. Very dangerous!!.

I went out on Sunday morning 8/21/2011 after having had my 2004 Dodge Durango 5. 7l hemi ,that I had parked since Friday. My husband turned the key and there was a click. Tried again and more clicks. Third try was a loud series of clanking and clicking. Had the vehicle hauled to the Dodge dealership in harrison ar. They informed me the motor had blown a rod. Repair would be $5000. 00. I had been by the dealership a month before and inquired about sudden engine dying while driving. My vehicle hass done this seversl times while at any speed with steering loss. Very scary. I have also fulfilled the earlier recall of having the rewiring of all the vehicle. Was very displeased with the service and times it malfunctioned after having the recall serviced. Please inform the proper personel and inform me of further action to take.

#3 spark plug blew out while traveling away from home in another state. In driving two miles back to my son's house, I had two explosions from excess gasoline and spark plug firing. The spark plugs were original and blew out because of the fine threads and aluminum cylinder heads. This is a design defect and safety problem known to Ford. Towing and insert installation by a Ford dealer was $950. The engine is a 4. 6 v-8 updated 05/17/12.

2. "engine power diminished" error, vehicle loses power, traction control and stabiltrak. Vehichle cannot maintain speed. Occured 3-4 times a week and then reset after car was turned off and restarted after 15 minutes. Disruptive and dangerous on highways and in less secure areas when driver had to stop. 3. The dealer replaced the throttle body and throttle body connector. Part was on national back order because of failures across gm & Chevrolet models. Neither the dealer or gm will acknowledge part failures.

2005 Acura Mdx rear main seal failure around 70000 miles. Most of the maintenace is conducted by owner with genuine Acura parts purchased on-line at bernardi Acura, massachusetts. Notice oil stain in garage around 70000 miles, now at 76000 in dripping so I took it to dealer in fayetteville, nc for inspection and repair. Asked for help from manufacturer to mitigate cost but was denied base on dealer service history. Have read more complaints in forums. To me this is a defective part. To replace a $10. 00 seal cost over $1000. 00.

Engine consumes one (1) quart of oil approximately every 4,000 miles. Vehicle was purchased new. If you follow the oil life minder (per the owner's manual) and change the oil when the indicator lights up (typically around 7,000 miles) the engine oil is well below the normal dipstick operating range.

My car engine does not respond to the accelerator when starting from a standstill with the steering wheel turned to the right or left. This has happened seven times in the 1300 miles I have driven the car. This abnormal condition has left me momentarily stopped in the middle of busy intersections. I find that if I am steering straight ahead, the vehicle will not malfunction but when it does happen, pressing the accelerator to the floor will cause the engine to respond, eventually. Honda should address this serious and potentially dangerous condition.

I was driving my 2007 Hyundai Elantra with 73,000 (about I need to get the final death mileage) miles on it. I heard a slight rattle when I pushed in the gas pedal. I noticed it happened when I started. I was about a mile from home and figured it was a loose screw and drove carefully. All gauges and lights were normal, no smoke ect. I started up a hill. The rattle got louder quickly (10-15 seconds). The temp gauge spiked suddenly and my rpm's dropped down to 1 and below. I pulled into a left hand turn lane at a light. The car died. From beginning to end the whole thing took anout five minutes from rattle to death. I took it to the Hyundai dealership in kirkland. The engine is dead due to overheating of an unknown cause. I searched an found NHTSA id # 08v429000. It describes a fuel pump error in which the car suddenly loses engine pressure leading to overheating, engine death and car crashes. I belive my car is one of those cars. I take immaculate care of my car and what happened is what is described in the NHTSA campaign. My car needs a new engine. I am trying to opt for trade. I want to know what to do. I am working woth the Hyundai dealership in kirkland wa. They are giving me a good trade in value and a fair deal on a used car. I would like to get a replacement or reimbursed or what have you as the car obviously had a defect. I am really glad I am safe. Had it happened ten minutes earlier I would have been toast.

The car is a 2003 Infiniti G35. My wife was crossing an intersection when the car just stopped. Traffic coming the other way had to also stop to avoid an accident. She was able to start the car and get it going again, only for it to stopp running one more time before getting home. I pulled the diagnostic codes from the car. It failed with a p0345 cranksahft position sensor a circuit bank 2. This sensor had a voluntary replacement from Infiniti on the same year model car, except our VIN number falls just outside of the range. I truly believe that should be expanded, as this can cause a fatal accident should it fail at the wrong time. The car dies, which means you lose the power stering and brakes. I will replace the sensors as the dealer I spoke with would not cover it under the volumtary replacement due to the VIN not being covered. There are 4 of these sensors on this car so there is a potential for failure. Please look into getting the recall for this part expanded to cover all cars. There is too much at stake to not do that.

I own a 2011 Jeep Compass for 2 weeks when I stopped at a stop sign, stopped and took off. Once I took off the Jeep engine just stopped. . . I couldn't tell it until I tried to turn and had no control! the dealership said the engine needed an update code, that they don't have yet for the 2. 4l engine. So now I have a car with less than 2600 miles on it in the shop that we can't drive. Why would they sell a car that shuts off for no reason and they know about it?? 2011 Jeep Patriot dies randomly. It dies going down the freeway at 70 or it can die going down the drive way. I bought the vehicle new and put approximately 400 miles on it and it died seven times. It has been in the dealership shop for six weeks tomorrow. They have had it die on them numerous times and have not ever told me it would be fixed. They said it was a software issues. It will qualify for the missouri lemon law. I am concerned that there are other Patriots out there that will die. It is very dangerous as you lose power steering and brakes.

I own a 2003 Land Rover discovery se. This vehicle only has 57,000 miles and has been very well maintained. Recently I noticed a tap coming from the engine. I immediately took it over to the local Land Rover dealer. After a couple of days, I was informed that it needed a new engine in order to fix this problem, at a cost of $14,000. What a joke! there is a widespread problem with these trucks maintaining adequate oil pressure in order to keep them running properly. Once again the consumer gets the shaft. I am now stuck, along with a lot of other lr owners, faced with a huge repair bill. This matter should have been looked into as a possible recall.

Complaint: fire erupting from 2005 Range Rover hse
2005 Range Rover hse, purchased in 2004-5 from scottsdale, az Land Rover. On June 1, 2010, while vehicle occupant driving to work in phoenix, az, following dashboard message appeared with the abbreviation, "trans failsafe prog. "
the Range Rover owners handbook, pg. 79, states that the above message means, "a malfunction has occurred in the transmission. " as to "what to do," the handbook explains, "drive carefully avoiding excessive revs and consult your retailer at the earliest opportunity. "
nothing in the message or the handbook indicated that this situation posed a fire hazard and a grave and immediate danger to the car or its occupants. Occupant promptly called Land Rover service representative located at the Land Rover dealership at scottsdale and 101 in scottsdale, az to report the message and to say that he immediately was bringing the car in for service. Occupant drove about 1-2 miles then pulled car over after car would not proceed further. Smoke arose from underneath the front hood. Occupant called triple a, then saw sparks falling below the hood to the ground. 911 was immediately called. Then flames emerged from underneath the front hood, and spread to consume some 90% of the car before the fire dept. Arrived to put out fire. The car is totaled, with insurance offering to pay what it deems is its present value, roughly $30,000.

Unintended acceleration of a 2006 Lexus Gx470 when shifting from park to drive. This is the first known occurrence of this abnormal activity in the 6 months I have owned this vehicle. The engine rpms went from idle to wide open throttle for 2-3 seconds when I shifted the transmission into drive. Since my foot was on the brake I was able to keep the vehicle under control. The engine returned to normal idle on its own. Fortunately, I was in the middle of an empty parking lot and there were no damages and no injuries. The dealer (woodfield Lexus, schaumburg illinois) found no faults or failures upon initial inspection of the vehicle. Toyota motor sales, north America is sending me instructions on what steps I should take to address this dangerous and unsafe issue. I was told these instructions should arrive in the mail within 7-10 days.

2006 Lincoln Zephyr. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle smells of fumes while driving the consumer also stated there was a smell of burning rubber and fire coming from under the vehicle, throughout the passenger cabin and through the cracks between the hood and fender wheel. He noticed the vehicle was knocking and running rough, so he turned it off. He then lifted the hood, and discovered smoke pouring out of the motor. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. An inspection revealed a bad coil went bad on the motor, which caused the engine roughness. The coil had melted severely. The repair shop informed the consumer, the coil would not connect with the computer. The repair shop informed the consumer, the dealership would need to program it. The dealer informed the consumer five more coil needed to be replaced as well as the computer.

2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. Consumer states defect with computer/powertrain control module
the consumer stated when his wife attempted to apply the brake on two separate occasions, the vehicle failed to reduce its speed. Consequently, his wife went through the red light. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. The dealer asked the consumer did the vehicle have adjustable pedals and when the consumer stated it did, the dealer suggested that maybe his wife put her foot on both pedals simultaneously. The consumer also stated there was message on the instrument panel in french. When he looked at the owners manual, it meant change oil. The consumer believed the message in french, instead of english effected the computer system.

On October 27, 2010, my wife was driving with me in the car and she started to brake for a red light. She was going about 30 miles per hour. As soon as she applied the brake, the engine accelerated and she had to use a large amount of braking pressure to stop the car. As soon as the car stopped, she took her foot off the brake and the engine returned to idle. Yesterday, I was driving the car at approximately 55 mile per hour and started to move into the passing lane when the traffic light ahead turned red. I applied the brake and the same thing happened. I had to apply a large amount of pressure on the brake peddle in order to stop the car while the engine raced on. As soon as the car stopped, the engine returned to idle and the problem was over. Yesterday, I took the car to the dealership where it was purchased and they kept the car overnight to run various tests. They found nothing. I picked the car up this afternoon and am going to now take it to another dealer for inspection.

1997 mitsubish Montero 3. 5 liter automatic- crank shaft bolt has come out on 5 seperate occasions and has cost over $3000 to have it replaced. The inside of the crankshaft where the bolt goes is completely stripped to the point I now have to replace the engine. We brought our Nissan 2006 Xterra in to the boardwalk auto center. Redwood city, CA - Nissan to have them check on what we thought was another transmission issue (Nissan replaced the transmission, at their expense over $8000, once and the fuel gauge twice plus a couple of other recall items). When we picked up the car they told us we needed a new timing chain for about $2000 (we have heard these are not normal items to be replaced and should last the lifetime of the car). We can't believe there is yet another major expensive problem part with this car! when does this car become a lemon and how many major items are going to need to be replaced? what is happening to Nissan?
has the timing chain issue been investigated and how many other people are having this problem?.

In November I was driving on the highway for 30 minutes, next thing I know is that I have no power in the engine. The car would not go higher than 20 miles and the revolutions on the motor were as high as 5,000rpm. I lost control of the car because I could not accelerate and I could not stop the car because the brakes were very hard and unresponsive. I could not move the car, it felt like the car had the brake pedal push all the way with emergency brake, I tried to accelerate but it did not move. Had to tow the car to the Nissan dealer service department. After 1 week, the service guys told me the problem was the outpeed speed sensor. After 3 days of using the repaired car, the car did the same thing only this time I almost crashed with another car because I lost control of the car again and the car almost got on fire. From the engine compartment you could see smoke coming out. Had to tow the car again to the Nissan dealer service department with no result because they could not replicate problem. The car did the same to me 2 more times and this time the dealer decided to replace the cvt transmission which I have read they have a lot of problems and because of that Nissan extended the warranty to 10 year 120k miles. After the transmission was replaced I used the car for about 1 month and the car in February did the same again. No engine power, unresponsive brakes, high rpm and smoke coming out from the engine compartment. Until when will I have to deal with this problem??? when will Nissan correct or recall these transmissions, when a life is lost? I took the car more than 4 times before they decided to replace and fix the problem. I'm going back again to Nissan, how many times will this time will be? I have lost more than 3 months with this issue and still the car is not working. Nissan does not have a safety recall and don't seem to take seriously the problem.

Engine blew do to excessive carbon build up, SAAB has been aware of this problem since 1999 and offered a extended warranty to original buyers till 8 years and unlimited mileage. To fix, engine has to be replaced. Car only has 100,000 miles. The oil portholes that squirt into the pistons are clogged burning out the cylinders. To fix the concern $4-5,000, if we can use the engine that came with the car, used engines are going for $2-3000 and you cannot buy a new or rebuilt one.

The mechanic had to disconnect the battery which shut down the fuel system and computer system. The mechanic reprogrammed the computer, key code pass system, replaced the ignition and the driver side door motor. The ignition repair did not correct the problem. The car is a 2011 Subaru wrx sti. As far as I can tell nothing led up to the failure. It was fine one day, then failed the next. The failure was broken piston ring lands on the #2 and #4 pistons in the engine. The consequences were that I needed to replace the short block of the engine along with all associated parts like new pistons. Subaru replaced the short block and all associated parts under warranty, including new pistons and rings.

This is the second well maintained Subaru Legacy that the engine has blown in under 150,000 miles. First a 1999 and now a 2005. Research online shows that this is an ongoing problem and has also been confirmed by independent mechanics. Please advise what recourse I can take legally as Subaru has not offered to have the car towed for an inspection. The last time they offered a $500 credit towards a proposed a repair that was estimated at thousands of dollars over the closeset independent. I would like to find out if the government has had any success in getting Subaru to admit the problem and do something meaningful to address it, or if there is a class action suit I can join to get some satisfaction. Thanks you.

Engine started ticking while driving. After approximately 20 miles, the engine quit completely and never restarted. After dealer inspected the car, it was found to have a failed rod bearing. After further investigation, the failure was based on a lack of lubrication, and therefore the warranty claim was denied. After an arbitrator reviewed the case, it was found to be covered under the powertrain warranty, sitting that the engine was using an unreasonable amount of engine oil between changes, and was therefore starving the bearings of oil during operation. The engine should not be using any oil, and an investigation should be done on these engines to see if there are other people out there having engine bearing issues or failures even if they have the oil changed per the owner's manual.

My 2005 Camry has 53000 on it, very well maintained. Was driving 25 mph on a traverse when the engine suddenly died. I tried to restart the car without success. Called a towing service, however, 10 minutes later I was able to start the car and drove home. The "service engine" light remained on. At first chance I drove my car to my local mechanic who told me it was the throttle body, but suggested to bring my car to the Toyota dealer because he had seen so many of Camry throttle malfunctions that he thought there might be a recall. I took his advice, brought it to the dealer who confirmed that my throttle body was bad and needed replacing. However he told me that he could not guarantee that the "service engine" light would not go off unless I had an engine flush and a full tune-up. This did not sit well with me, so I declined the services. I paid him $100 as a diagnostic fee. When he went to get my car, the engine would not turn on at all. I called a towing company who took it back to my mechanic. He replaced the throttle and reset the service light. The car is now running, but because of my mechanic's statement and many similar throttle complaints recorded on the internet, I strongly feel that the throttle issue should be investigated.

Apon accelerating up the hill of my street, today, August 16th, 2011, my car, a 1998 Volvo S70 , sped up, unaturally, close to the top . I had just driven out of my driveway, as I back into it always, and proceeded up the hill. As usual, the automatic transmission shifted down as the car approached a steeper portion of the hill. When braking for the stop sign at the top, I noticed that the engine was racing. I was unable to stop fully at the stop sign, and after going around the corner to the right, I pulled the floor mat away from the accelerator pedal. My left foot was now firmly planted on the brake pedal, as well as my right foot quickly pumping the accelerator pedal , all in an attempt to have the gas pedal unstick, which it didn't. It just made the car engine continuously race even more. The rpm's increased also the more that the engine raced. Unable to fully stop at the next subsequent 2 stop signs, on a straight away, and my left foot to the floor with the brake pedal, I finally decided to place the car in neutral, the engine racing at what seemed a very high rate of speed by evidence of those rpm's. I continued to pump the gas pedal, with the car in neutral, my left foot on the brake, when suddenly the racing ceased, and the rpm's came down to an idle, just below 1000, I believe. I then proceeded to the side of the road, and stopped. After a bit, I placed the car from neutral into park, and then again shifted the auromatic transmission into drive. I began moving down a hill by mere idling speed. I was careful, just coasting now, not to initially place any pressure on the accelerator as I proceeded in drive. I came to a stop at an intersection, for a red signal light, and when it was green, I drove back around a large city block to my driveway. I backed into my driveway with no further issues of sudden acceleration during the final distance driven. This has happened 2 other times recently when setting cruise control going up a hill.

I have a 2005 Volvo Xc90 v8 the car has been developing a shake, I brought it to Volvo for a check up, nothing was reported as unusual. Yesterday I heard knocking in the engine and immediately flatbedded it to the dealership, the went to diagnose and the engine has froze. The dealer is researching and explained it is out of warranty with a new engine costing $14,000. 00, reading other bulletins I suspect this is a counterbalance shaft bearing failure and is occuring with all 2005 v8 Xc90's as they increase in age and exit any warranty period. I hope someone can do something, a new engine cost as much as it's trade-in value. Such a know issue should be investigated with Volvo picking up the cost.

Timing chains! car was parked, and went to start it and it wouldn't start. Had it towed to dealer and they told me it was timing chains and $2800. 00. In doing some research, found that 2004 - 2006 models are having issues with the oil getting to the chains properly, because the hole is too small to lubricate chains. I buy high end cars and take care of them. This is the first time a timing chain has ever gone out on any of my vehicles. (been driving 40 some years) a mechanic has told me that they are seeing more and more of them. I think there should be a recall or at least someone looking into this. Another person that I know of had their 2004 cts timing chains go out while driving down the freeway and it blew the engine.

My 2000 Xj8 Jaguar, with approximately 36k miles, began running very badly and surging unexpectedly. The car became very dangerous to drive and I narrowly avoided having, what could have been severe accidents, on more than one occasion. The car was taken to two Jaguar dealers, who could not identify the proble. One kept saying the car needed a new throttle body. After the car had its third throttle body, at my expense. . . And after getting the new jersey Jaguar representative involved, the dealership decided the problem probably was not the throttle body. The car has been to three other mechanics, one of those has had it three times. None could identify the source of the problem, although all agreed the vehicle could not be driven safely. The last mechanic, who has had the car since November, was working on the car when it dropped a valve. Turns out the timing chain had apparently jumped two teeth due to wear in the plastic guides. I have since discovered the Jaguar forums indicate this is a persistent problem with this model and is well know to Jaguar. Jaguar has even recommended upgrading to the metal replacement guides, at the owner's expense, however, the owner's were never notified. I am facing a very expense repair for a known deficiency in the design of this engine. For some reason, a recall has never been issued. I feel Jaguar has the majority of responsibility for this repair. I, and others, could have easily been killed or seriously injuried, due to this known problem. Due to this problem I was only able to drive my car 50 miles the past four years. It has spent the remainder of the time at various mechanics. . . Including Jaguar dealerships. I would like to see some cop-ability on the part of Jaguar.
