car   Fail To Accelerate problem of Hyundai Santa Fe

While driving my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe (mileage approx. 13366) on the highway in fairly heavy traffic at around 70 mph and applying pressure to the accelerator, suddenly the vehicle failed to accelerate. I heard a little "blip" noise and felt a very slight jerk, kind of like a sudden gear change or something like that, then the car suddenly started decelerating. I barely missed getting rear-ended by another vehicle and managed to coast across two lanes of traffic to the shoulder of the road without getting hit. I stopped the car and turned it off and called the Hyundai dealership and asked them what I should do. I told them the engine malfunction light was on. They indicated that they had never heard of a vehicle doing this before. They said if the malfunction light wasn't blinking, the car was safe to drive and to bring it in at my earliest convenience. On the way home, the deceleration issue happened approximately 3 or 4 more times. This is an incredibly dangerous issue with the vehicle. Took it to a local dealership and the paperwork said they found issue via TSB. They did an ecm upgrade. Vehicle worked just fine for a month and a half and then the exact same problem occurred again. This time I was able to make it home, fortunately without getting into a major accident. Had to stop and start the car about 3 times to get home. Called roadside assistance and had it towed to a different dealership to see if they can find the real problem this time. At this point, I'm not sure if I will ever feel safe driving this vehicle again. How will I know if the issue has really been fixed? this is a very serious, dangerous problem that could potentially lead to a tragic accident. It's hard to believe that there hasn't been a recall issued to fix this problem. It was Thursday, November 15, 2012 when this fail to accelerate issue happened.

car   Fail To Accelerate problem of Subaru Outback

The car is a 2013 Subaru Outback. The VIN of this vehicle was 4S4BRCCC2D_. After stopping at a stop sign, I attempted to drive off, but the car did not accelerate on application of the throttle pedal. The engine remained at idle, and the car rolled slowly into the intersection. Nothing I did corrected the problem until I placed the transmission in park, turned off the engine, then re-started the car. The car then performed normally until I reached the next stop sign, where the problem repeated. In all, the problem occurred seven (7) times on this day, apparently at random. That is, at some stops the car performed normally, and at other stops, the car failed to accelerate when the throttle pedal was depressed. The service department at my Subaru dealer was unable to replicate the problem and therefore performed no repairs. Two weeks later, the problem occurred again, three (3) times in two days. This is an extremely dangerous problem, because it can leave the car in a busy intersection without the ability to move until the driver turns off the car and then re-starts it. This problem has been noted by other Subaru Outback owners in online forums, and at least one other vehicle safety complaint has been filed regarding this problem. This issue happened on Friday, November 8, 2013.

I have a 2001 Volvo V70 and I was driving south on I-95 when the car failed to accelerate, just went limb, I tried to accelerate and nothing happened, the car behind almost hit me and the same with the 2 behind him. This is the second time something like this happen, that me along with my family are exposed to such a danger. The first time I checked the recalls and took it to the dealer where they supposedly fixed what was wrong, 8 months after the mentioned repair the car is doing the same but now with worse consequences because now I am so afraid to drive that just thinking about it makes me tremble. The Volvo dealer do not want to be responsible and dot says that just when big accidents happen they can do something. I wondered if my family would be dead right now, who would be filing this complaint?. . It is just not acceptable that a dealership or the dot fail to act would cost not just mine, but any family their lives. M. This problem occurred on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.

car   Fail To Accelerate problem of Jaguar X-type

The car involved is a 2002 Jaguar X-type. Electrical system - my car was parked for two days at a secure airport park and ride. When returning from my trip, when putting the car in reverse the car jerked and rolled out of the parking space. I then proceeded to put the car in drive and it failed to accelerate. The engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated, which put the car in limp mode. I had the car towed to the dealership. Thankfully I was not in high traffic when this happened. If I was traveling at 60 mph and the car went into limp mode there could have been a serious accident. The dealer stated that it was a throttle positioning sensor failure and to correct the problem, the throttle housing would have to be replaced at a cost of $1600. 00. The warranty had expired 3 months earlier. This car has less than 48,000 miles on it and is only driven in city traffic. This has to be a defect with this unit, especially since it failed while the car was parked without warning. This is definitely a safety issue. If this unit had failed on the interstate (I live in the metro atlanta area) it could have caused a major accident with possible injuries. It was Thursday, October 12, 2006 when this fail to accelerate issue occurred.
