car   Front Seat Recliner problem of Dodge Stratus

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Dodge Stratus. We had taken our car in to the Dodge dealer here in okeechobee. It was having a regular tune-up and misc other things done. The dealer had it for 2 days. Two days after I was taken my 70 year old father to his physical therapy class when the drivers seat back fell completely to the back seat in a laying down position. I was just proceeding out of my drive way. Thank god as if I was on the highway there could have been a fatal accident. I had not touched nothing on the seat mechanics before this happened. I called the dealer and nothing has been done about this as of yet. I knew there had to be someplace that would help me with this problem. Also that same car dealer ship rounded off the oil cap on the pan and they did fix that. The seat is still broken. I am not a large person nor is anybody that drives the vehicle so we still think it was either the mechanic at the car dealer ship or a faulty seat mechanism. This could have been a very dangerous incident had I not acted fast. It was Nov. 19, 2007 when this front seat recliner issue occurred.

car   Front Seat Recliner problem of Ford Ranger

The car was a 2000 Ford Ranger. Sat down in truck, seat broke away and I fell backward, noted 2 broken bolts in floor, one left side one right side, both bolts appear to have freshly broken. I have mild back strain from the initial fall backward. Please note: I am not concerned about my incident, my concern is if I had been driving what would have happened, and the number of vehicles which have the exact seat and possible defective bolts, it appears to be a design flaw, such small bolts, I will gladly forward the bolts removed upon request. It was 09/14/2013 when this front seat recliner issue occurred.

car   Front Seat Recliner problem of Suzuki XL7

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Suzuki Xl7 is 2S3DA21787_. I recently purchased a 2007 Suzuki Xl7 and at first I didn't notice that there was a problem with getting into the 3rd row because we didn't have a need to seat back there. But one day as I tried to recline the 2nd row seat to get to the 3rd row seating, the seat which is supposed to recline would not work. No matter how much I tried to pull on the lever that's supposed to release the seat it still wouldn't work. After lots of pushing on the seat and punching on it for about 5 mins. , it finally reclined and my child was able to get to the 3rd row. After our trip, I tried to recline the seat so my child could get out but it was stuck again. There was no way that my child was able to get out of the 3rd row and because she's a teenager, there was no way she could climb over the seat in front of her or over the 3rd row seat to get out from the trunk. I thought there was a glitch with the seat and called the dealer to have it looked at. After which time the dealer called me back and said that the model has a tendency to do that. The dealer suggested that if it does happen again to just keep pulling and pushing on the recliner seat and it will eventually work. On numerous occasions it did the same thing. It has gotten to the point where we don't even sit back there for fear that the passenger will become trap. So, this is a concern to me because in case of an emergency there is no way that I would be able to get my child or passenger out of the 3rd row in time. I really would like someone to investigate this problem because the dealer knows of this problem but seem to look at it as a minor problem. In case of an emergency or accident, how is a person suppose to get out of the vehicle to avoid injuries? this is something I feel is serious and could potentially be life threatening. It was 06/28/09 when this front seat recliner issue occurred.

When the vehicle accelerated, the back of the seat felt like it malfunctioned. The recliner felt too loose. The problem was worse when going up hill. The seat moved back about a 1/4 inch. The owner took the vehicle to the dealership, who said that the seat was as tight as it would get, and that's how it was manufactured. Suzuki responded that the owner should go to another dealership. If another dealership indicated that there was nothing they could do, then there was nothing further that Suzuki would do. The owner was concerned about his safety because it felt like the recliner would flop on back, and the driver could loose control. (Suzuki aerio had to be chosen, there was no option for Verona). car   Front Seat Recliner problem of Volvo XC90

Crash happened when the problem occurred. I was involved in a rear-end collision with my 2 children in a Volvo Xc90. My seat back failed during the accident and I am not referring to the whips system. I sustained multiple injuries including a whiplash injury as well as injuries of my back and left shoulder that I believe were exacerbated by the seat back assuming a fairly reclined position. I also fear that if either of my children had been sitting behind the drivers seat (especially in a rear-facing infant seat) they could have been seriously injured as a result of this failure of the seat back. The Volvo dealer/repair shop has implied that my weight had something to do with this failure. I weighed about 218-222 pounds at the time of the accident. This front seat recliner problem happened on Sat., Aug. 30, 2003.

The gear shifter switch makes loud clicking noise. The rear passenger door handle could not be opened from outside. Automatic transmission had slippage and shudder while up shifting, creating a vehicle loss of control. Passenger side rear seat backrest cushion makes noise due to loose clips. The front passenger window developed a wind noise due to defective window seals. Due to design fault, the upper torque mount bushing cracked. The driver side front headlight lens broke. The consumer is asking for a full refund of the actual price paid for the vehicle or for it to be replaced with a new equally equipped vehicle. This problem occurred on 11/24/2001.

car   Front Seat Recliner problem of BMW Z3

The vehicle involved was a 1997 BMW Z3. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 4USCH7323V_. Both driver and passenger seats move and shift out of place during normal operation at any speed all of the time. Reported to dealer for correction under warranty and was advised this was a normal condition for the seat to move when applying brakes at any speed. I consider this a safety hazard because the seat movement could result in deficient application of brake pressure on the pedal during braking conditions. Please advise if this is considered by NHTSA as normal operating condition. This front seat recliner issue occurred Tuesday, June 1, 1999.

The vehicle involved is a 1996 BMW Z3. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 4USCH732XT_. Dealer representative said this a common problem & requires replacement. When braking, the seat slides forward on the rails 1 to 2 inches. I am concerned that in a serious front end collision the seat may propel the driver and/or passenger forward and with a locked belt cause personal injuries to the occupants. car   Front Seat Recliner problem of Jaguar XJ8

The vehicle involved was a 1999 Jaguar Xj8l. Crash happened when the problem occurred. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was SAJHD6045X_. I was the third car in a five-car accident. I was at a complete stop and about 0. 5 car length from the car in front of me when car number 2, a 2004 Dodge dakota pickup, hit me from behind. My car, a 1999 Xj8l, sustained extensive damage in the rear, but only minor damage to the front section, no damage to body sheet metal; only one bumper shock needs replaced. The driverãƒ?ã‚â¢ãƒ?ã‚?ãƒ?ã‚?s air bag did not deploy. My concern is that the driverãƒ?ã‚â¢ãƒ?ã‚?ãƒ?ã‚?s seat collapse into the rear bench seat. The position of my seat when I drive is; the back adjustment is set at or very close to straight up (90 degrees), the height adjustment is set almost all the way up, and the seat distance from the pedals is very close to all the way back. As a result of being hit from behind, my body was thrown forward about 10 degrees and was whipped backwards to a full-reclined position (about 175degrees). The accident caused my seat to collapse into the back rear bench seat and as a result, I was in a fully reclined position after the accident. Is the Jaguar's front driver's seat designed to collapse? I did have my shoulder harness and lap belt on and there were no passangers in my car. This problem occurred on Thu., Nov. 3, 2005.
