car   Grinding Noise problem of Honda Accord

The vehicle having this issue was a 2000 Honda Accord. My friend and I were driving to go buy some food during heavy traffic and I ended up hitting a pothole I was unable to avoid. After I hit the pothole my car started making a loud grinding sound whenever I turned the wheels. When I got home I checked underneath my car to see what was causing the awful sound and saw a piece of metal heavily rusted and sheared right through. I checked the other side to see if it was also rusted and broken but to my surprise there was barely any rust on it. I went onto the internet and found out that it was the sub-frame of my Accord that broke and that I was one of many people this exact situation has happened to. I am extremely relieved that neither my friend or I were injured when this happened, and that it did not cause an accident during heavy traffic. The fact that Honda has yet to even address this issue is truly ridiculous and the fact that they have not recalled such a major defect happening to many people is stunning. The failure date was Fri., Sep. 14, 2012.

Honda automobile customer service 1919 torrance boulevard mail stop: 500 - 2n - 7d torrance, CA 90501-2746 1999 Honda Prelude VIN #j013 dear sir: we are very pleased with Honda automobiles performance and reliability. We are always going out our way to recommend Honda cars to our friends and relatives. However, last Wednesday evening (4/30/08) while driving home in my Honda Prelude, I had a very bad experience with the car. I was traveling east bound on fwy 56 at around 65 miles; suddenly I heard a loud noise under the hood and grinding noises. All dash board lights came on and I was having difficulties in maneuvering the car. Luckily, I was able to get off the freeway and stopped the car at the end of the off ramp (camino del sur). The car was towed to our mechanics downtown san diego. Sun independent auto repair has taken care of our Honda cars for the last 20 years. He found the front pulley came off and front pulley strut was broken in half. He told us in all his years of servicing Honda car, this is the firs time for him. See attached photo. From the picture, you can see the strut is defective, broken cleanly in half. You can also notice signs of rusting close to the breaking point. We have kept our Prelude in our garage away from the weather elements. The car has never got into any water; in fact, I have always hand washed it myself. The scheduled maintenances are followed religiously by me. Additionally, the car has less than 54,000 miles on it after nine years. I am requesting Honda to recognize the fact that the strut is defective and should reimburse us the expenses to replace the strut and the front pulley (slightly bent needs replacement). See attached repair bill. Additionally, Honda should notice all 1999 Prelude owners of this incidence. Sincerely, 1999 Honda Prelude front pulley strut broken strut bent key. This grinding noise problem happened on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.

car   Grinding Noise problem of Jeep Liberty

The car is a 2003 Jeep Liberty. Since purchasing in sept 02 have had vehicle in for service six times for numerous concerns, repeatedly for a clunking/grinding sound from the psgr sd ft, a severe pulling of the vehicle to the right, a vibration when driving hwy speeds, and intermittent engine misses. Dealership twice replaced the front end strut mounts which elimated the grind/clunk, but cannot ascertain the problem with the vehicle's instability (pulling) on the road nor with the engine misfires. An adjustment (off spec) to the alignment was performed by dealership which in turn caused the vehicle to pull to the left and also encouraged more steering vibration and worsened mpg - avg 13. 21 mpg where initially I got 18 -20 mpg. Dealership claims that b/c roads are angled for water runoff, this likewise keeps my vehicle from staying on the road (!?) am currently beginning to experience a clunking noise from rear passenger side wheel area, but have not yet brought it to dealer's attention. It was 10/01/2002 when this grinding noise issue occurred.
