Thank goodness kids were not in the car when this occurred. Since the first incident, the door will not latch and is now tethered with rope and can't be used. Ford know about this problem as they have a current recall notice NHTSA campaign id number: 05v030000 Ford claims that my vehicle is not covered. The issue for my vehicle is that it was purchased in the state of florida in 2003 and registered in the state of florida in Feb of 2005 when the recall came out. (it is now registered in the state of NY where it has been since 2006. If the recall came out one year later, my car would be covered?) covered or not, Ford knows that the car is unsafe. A remedy would be to re-issue the recall again so that it covers any 2003 Focus as I am certain that my car is not the only car sold in a state not covered, but that has since relocated to a state where corrosion can occur due to salt and winter conditions (unbeknownst to consumers). car   Hood Latch problem of GMC Yukon

I rented a 2005 GMC Yukon from enterprise at the san luis obispo, CA. Airport location. While driving home on highway 101 northbound over cuesta grade on the decent of the north side of the grade the hood popped open, fortunately the additional latch caught the hood thus preventing the hood from flying back and smashing the windshield. Thankfully there was no traffic at that moment and I was able to pull to the side of the highway and secure the hood. I determined that the hood release lever located near the floor board on the left side of the drivers area has very little resistance and is far to easy to release. I had been listening to the radio, tapping my left foot around and without knowing it I had caught the hood release with my foot and popped the hood open. I feel that an after market repair could be made by creating a attachable flap style door that would cover the release latch until it was actually needed. I allerted the rental agency of the defect and advised them not to rent that vehicle out until a correction to that defect had been completed. I asked that they pass this information on to the company and that they let GMC know as well. Thank you, hily greene. This issue happened on Aug. 25, 2004.

car   Hood Latch problem of Jeep Wrangler

The vehicle was a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. This complaint has not been qc¿d. The contact submitted an email and requested that the official ivoq be written verbatim to the email. Kmj tl- while driving on a two lane highway at 65 mph with oncoming trucks coming by, the hood of my 2012 Jeep Wrangler would lift up to the limits of the hood latches. These factory latches are made of heavy duty rubber and do not hold the hood down/in place firmly as the air from the oncoming traffic pushes on the Jeep. The hood can be visually seen to move upwards and bow with a loud bang. I contacted Jeep Chrysler and was told to contact the dealer (prestige Chrysler Jeep Dodge of las vegas, nevada). I did this and was told that they were aware of the problem but would not do anything since it was a Chrysler issue and the dealership could not do anything under warranty. I was also told that mopar has metal latches but I would have to purchase them. Since this is a very scary situation with the possibility of the hood being lifted back into the windshield, it can have serious consequences such as a deadly accident. This is definitely a design flaw; I feel that the NHTSA should make Chrysler replace the hood latches with the steel ones at no cost to me. This is a very real problem and needs to be rectified by the NHTSA because Chrysler will not listen to me. I hope that someone at the NHTSA investigates this before there is a serious accident and someone is killed. Updated 11/14/12 updated 11/14/2012 updated 11/30/12.
