car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Chevrolet Trailblazer

The car is a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext. This vehicle is 4 months old and just rolled over to 7000 miles. It is in the shop currently for the sixth time and has now been out of commission for over 30 days. It has had multiple transmission problems; valve body twice, torque converter, shift solenoid, btsi solenoid, floor shifter (with console) all had to be replaced. It is in the shop now for the 4 wheel drive for the second time; 1st time to repair problem I was having and repaired per service bulletin. Obviously that did not repair the problem as I just had the same problem again. The 4wd indicator light comes on and the truck will not go out of a4wd unless I shut the truck off and restart. The dealer just called and said they have to replace the control motor ? that goes to the transfer case. I am mechanically challenged and do not know what most of these componets are. The shocks had to be replaced as they were leaking at 6000 miles. The exhaust shields had to be re-aligned as they were rattling on acceleration. Spoke to chevy representative, they said they can do nothing about replacing this vehicle as it is under warrany and I will just have to keep taking it back for repairs. They offered free oil changes and tire rotations for a year. I told them that was an insult and that this is not the last time that they will hear from me. I am filing under lemon law with an attorney as I do not believe I will get very far on my own. The dealer has been great, it breaks they fix it and it breaks agian and they fix it, that's all that they can do. My problem lies with Chevrolet/general motors and this truck that I believe was put on the market with design flaws. This problem occurred on Monday, November 17, 2003.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Chrysler 300

The car was a 2005 Chrysler 300. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 2C3AA53G05_. I was intending to back out of my driveway when I was unable to move my floor shifter out of the park position. There was nothing I could do at this point. I had to make other arrangements for transportation. The cost of repair is estimated to be around $500. 00. I have spoken both with the dealership and Chrysler customer service. Chrysler took my information including my vehicle mileage of 54000. I was told there was not anything they could do for me. A high number of other 2005 Chrysler 300 owners have experienced this exact problem. It is a problem with the transmission shifter interlock lever. Chrysler has issued customer satisfaction notification k39. Their explanation on how they reach their determination as to which 2005 Chrysler 300's they will service free of charge is unconscionable. I would like to mention that I also feel that this problem is a safety issue. I ask that the NHTSA research this fact. I can see this happening after a mother pulls to the side of the road to tend to her child. I can see this happening after I pull to the side of the road to tend to my ailing mother of 82. These are potentially dangerous situations. Please look into this matter. It is unfair to the purchaser. It is unsafe for the public. Thank you. The failure date was Oct. 11, 2013.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Chrysler 300

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 2C3KA43R87_. I have a 2007 Chrysler 300 that is stuck in park. I'm aware of the k39 recall & after calling was told the dates of being built was June 25-sept 21 2007 is the actuall recall & mine was built may 30 2007, so by less than 30 days my car is not covered under the recall. The recall included 28,000 plus cars. Obviously the problem is beyond those dates listed above. The problem needs further investigated. So due to just shy of a month I'm without a car. I can't afford to have it towed & repaired at approx $300 to $400 per the dealership. I feel & believe strongly that my car should be included in this recall & should be repaired at the cost of Chrysler. As stated per Chrysler: "at Chrysler group llc, you can be assured that we are changing the way we look at quality. To prove our commitment to quality, the company is investing in and prioritizing improvements for every vehicle that we build. As part of that commitment, we are also targeting existing vehicles on the road today and contacting our customers to provide these quality improvements, at no charge, that will help to improve your ownership satisfaction. We are recommending the following improvements be performed on some 2005 through 2007 model year Dodge charger, magnum and Chrysler 300 equipped with a floor shifter. The transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook on your vehicle may break. A broken interlock return spring hook will result in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the "park" position. " please contact me with further instructions to get my car at cost of Chrysler since it is a huge known problem. Thank you cassandra clark. This manual transmission floor shifter issue occurred Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Dodge Charger

VIN of the vehicle was 2B3KA53HX6_. My Dodge Charger will not shift out of park. Some (not all) Chargers have been recalled for this issue. Upon searching online, it is a known problem and Chrysler addressed some customers via Chrysler customer satisfaction notification k39. It states that "some 2005 through 2007 model year Dodge Charger, magnum, and Chrysler 300 equipped with a floor shifter" are affected. The transmission gear shift level interlock spring hook on your vehicle may break. A broken interlock return spring hook will result in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the park position. " this is a safety defect because if this vehicle was to stall and the driver put it into park to restart, the vehicle would be unable to go back into drive. It is a plastic piece that needs to be replaced but Chrysler is charging $375 because the entire shift assembly needs to be taken apart to address. It is unfortunate that Chrysler has recognized this defect on some Chargers but will not cover the repair on my vehicle for the exact same issue. My car is the same year as some of the cars impacted by the recall. This issue happened on May 20, 2014.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Ford Mustang

The vehicle involved is a 2012 Ford Mustang. The VIN of this vehicle was 1ZVBP8CU2C_. Binding shift linkage, unable to shift. Occurred when merging unto freeway and shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, nearly run into by following traffic, had to coast to shoulder and nearly stop before able to shift into any gear. In addition, the transmission grinds when shifting to 5th gear. The binding linkage has occurred several more times since the initial problem. I am 67 years old and have had many vehicles in my lifetime with similiar drivetrains and have not had this type of problem with any of them. I presently own 3 other vehicles with manual transmissions, all floor shifters ( one 4 speed, one 5 speed, and one 6 speed), and they have never had this problem. I believe the linkage and transmission is defective and am returning it to the dealer in the near future for a warranty claim. I have delayed the warranty claim for several reasons, number one: the vehicle is one of six I presently own and it sees very little use and has very low miles on it, number two: I have been able to avoid damage from the grinding by skipping 6th gear, number three: the dealer is not real close to my residence so I have delayed the trip there until logging enough miles to justify an oil change at the time of investigating the grinding and linkage problem. The vehicle was purchased new on 6-1-11 and had approximately 10 miles on the odometer when received by me. The vehicle has the getrag 6 speed transmission. The spacing between gears seems excessively close and may contribute to the problem. It was June 6, 2011 when this manual transmission floor shifter issue occurred.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Honda Civic

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2HGES15561_. I drive a 2001 Honda Civic lx with manual transmission. One day I was standing at a light waiting to take a left turn. As the light changed and the traffic started to move, I sped up and shifted to 2nd gear. As I entered the intersection, suddenly the gear slipped and shifted into neutral. And the car did not move under acceleration. I quickly shifted back into first and sped away. I have since found that this is a frequently occuring problem. I am very careful when I am at an intersection or trying to merge into traffic on a highway from an entry ramp. I found that this is because of a malfuction in the transmission and the bushes to the manual transmission cable. Honda has issued a service bulletin about this problem. But I think this is a serious hazard because the problem occurs when you are at low speeds in second gear and trying to accelerate. Causes problems at intersections, yield signs and exit ramps. Highway on ramps is a place to consistently duplicate the problem as you try to merge into traffic. I checked with other owners of manual transmissions. An acquaintance who bought the car in the same quarter also reports the same problem. Please contact me for more info about service bulletin. This issue happened on Mar. 15, 2004.

car   Manual Transmission Floor Shifter problem of Toyota RAV4

The car is a 2001 Toyota Rav4. 2001 Rav4 manual transmission - the gear shift started moving back and forth in the 5th gear position when pressure was applied/released from the gas pedal. Went to balise Toyota in west springfield, MA and was told that this was normal behavior (even though I had the car for 5 years and it just started happening. About a week later, the car started "popping" out of 5th gear. Balise then admitted that this was not normal and "repaired" the problem (there was a service bulletin from Toyota out about the problem). When I got the car back, the gearshift did not move when in 5th gear. It is now December and the gearshift is once again moving back and forth in 5th gear and balise Toyota is telling me it is normal and they refuse to fix the problem while the car is still under the extended warranty. There are other people on the internet who have reported this same problem. Toyota should have a recall to fix the problem as having a car drop out of gear is a safety hazard, especially at highway speeds when it would be most apt to happen.
