The car was a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. I purchased the car in March 2013. It only had 18,000 miles on it. While slowing, such as exiting the interstate, as the car down shifts, it down shifts hard. Especially going from 3rd gear to 2nd and then 1st. It seems to have a slight delay when trying to pick up speed. More so when you have slowed and then sped back up, like when someone is turning and you have to slow for them. There is an awful noise in the dash around the steering column. If you are on a gravel road, it sounds like the dash/steering column is going to fall onto your feet. Its a rattle type sound. It was Monday, July 1, 2013 when this noises during shifting issue occurred.

The car involved is a 2008 Chrysler 300. The VIN of this vehicle was 2C3KA43R38_. This car is a lemon! I see other people's issues and I cannot believe this car hasn't been totally recalled and overhauled! every month since I got it ( my first used car!). . It was at rental company for 1 1/2 years then I was the sucker that bought it! the tie rods go once a year and mechanics 'all talk who Chrysler made them bad I guess" then the goodyear intregrity's hydroplane. . . . The suspension sounds like beverly hillbillies. . . I was told that the noises I hear are not the shocks I had replaced but are now the actual front arm controls of my car that are rotting away. . . Another thing is the engine "kicks in hard" when going into 2nd shift (automatic). . The horn is hard to press. . The front tires rub, you can hear then when turning even though I am up to date on rotors and pads. . . Let's see what else OH yes just paid $400 because the car started to overheat so when I was there getting that fixed I told them how my car has always had condensation on it in the winter. . I can chisel off the ice particles on the inside! they said I needed a whole new housing of some sorts fixed so they did that. . Hum what else? OH now the engine light is on and the car is chugging and jerking like I'm in a farmer's tractor! it's 10/2013 and I have 2 more years to go to pay. . . I have no more $$$ thanks Chrysler. . God bless America. . . 2 more to pay on this. . I should have stuck with Honda or go Toyota!. This noises during shifting problem happened on 03/06/2012.

The vehicle involved was a 2008 GMC Acadia. I was driving during daylight hours on the highway and I pressed on the gas to accelerate because there was a slight incline on the route I was traveling. When I pressed on the gas pedal, there was no acceleration and I got nervous that it might be the alternator. However, I was still able to drive the vehicle although it did not want to pick up speed. I exited the highway and noticed that the vehicle was having difficulty shifting gears and was making what sounded like a whirring noise from under the hood. I drove the vehicle straight to my mechanic's shop. He was surprised to find out that it was the transmission as the vehicle is routinely serviced. It appears that the wave plate failed and there was debris inside the transmission. This noises during shifting issue occurred 10/20/13.

The car involved is a 2004 Acura Tl. Crash happened when the problem occurred. The VIN of this vehicle is 19UUA66244_. While on a hill to make a left turn a supermarket the transmission started to make a loud noise and the car started rolling backward with the shifter in drive in drive mode. At that movement the engine stalled and it was difficult for the car brakes to be applied and in reverse the car crashed into a hydraulic lift gate causing major damage and the insurance company declared a total loss. The police officer arrived to investigate and try to put the shifter into park and it was very difficult. The police officer declared that the car had a mechanical failure and it caused the accident. Note, this transmission was installed by Acura last year with about 15,000 miles driven and failed. This noises during shifting issue occurred Mon., Nov. 12, 2012.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Acura Tl. I had the most harrowing experience while driving home last Saturday, Nov. 27, around 1:15am, at constant speed of 60 mpg when suddenly while stepping on the accelerator pedal I felt slipping of the gears, then the car's acceleration quickly dropping as I frantically tried to regain control and barely managing to steer the car onto the shoulder where it stopped to move completely. I realized then that the car wouldn't move in any gear I shifted it to, which is indicates to me of a failure relating to transmission, if not a failure in the automatic transmission itself that caused this very dangerous incident to happen. I had to call aaa to have the car towed to my driveway where it still is as of this writing. I had no prior knowledge of any transmission problem with this car nor should suspect of such since I've been current with all scheduled maintenance services and kept it in good condition at all times. On Nov. 24, three days prior to the incident, I brought the car to Acura to make sure I had the 'power-steering hose recall' service done since days prior I've been hearing unusual grinding noise around steering wheel, amplified upon turning even slightly the steering wheel on either direction, usually when the car is started the first time. I thought the noise I hearing might be related to this 'recall' service. However, according to Acura that service had been done on my car last February 2008, but it would cost me $110 for them to diagnose the problem for which I opted them not to since I didn't have the funds. I believe an incident such as I have experience wherein a moving vehicle would suddenly lose power and become immobilized within matter of seconds poses a very serious 'safety risk' to our highways that should warrant prompt investigation and resolution to its cause to ensure responsibility of our continued safety. This noises during shifting issue occurred 11/27/2010.

The car is a 2009 Honda Fit. When the car is stopped at say a light stop sign or just pulling out of a parking spot. If I barely accelerate just enough to get like 1500 rpm's and shift into second gear and same into 3rd it seems like the car doesn't have enough power to hold that gear on the change, resulting in a almost grinding noise? kind of like static almost only for a few seconds. Its been happening sense I bought the vehicle used at around 86k miles at about the same rate every time no real change. Though I have noted it occurs like 3 seconds long instead of the brief 1 second immediately following an oil change but just once then back to the usually. I have read a lot of people complaining about this on forums throughout the internet, and somewhat surprised it is not on here. This noises during shifting problem happened on Mon., May. 19, 2014.. The car involved was a 2002 Honda Odyssey. The VIN of this vehicle is 5FNRL18992_. The automatic transmission has a loud whining noise during acceleration and there is a banging noise and lurching while shifting into different gears; although it does not do it all of the time, but the noise is constant. I have brought these problems to the Honda dealer's attention at 60,000 miles and they claimed that there is nothing they can do until the transmission breaks down and that I am the 2nd owner and so there is no warranty. I called Honda America and they said there is nothing they can do to help me. I transport children and am fearful that the transmission will seize up and an accident will occur. I have researched this problem and discovered that there is a serious flaw in Honda transmissions and that they have not addressed it to owners' satisfaction. Honda designed and built these transmissions and need to be held accountable; they charge up to $5000 for rebuilt transmissions that are also flawed. Consumers need to be protected from negligence. Why is Honda being allowed to get away with this? it seems that they are making money on transmission repairs; and, in time, they will loose customer confidence and loyalty!. The car was a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Where do I start. This car has been more pf a pain than anything. After dealing with the steering sensitivity issue which resulted in new tires at 12000 miles, I now have a transmission issue that the dealer cannot diagnose. Beginning one month ago the car started making a loud whooshing noise eminating from the underside of the car. Thought nothing of it as I assumed that it was the new tires. Then came the transmission clunks after rapidly accelerating then decelerating. A couple of weeks ago the car, on several occassions, would clunk after starting and putting it into gear. Then the transmission would continue to shift hard through every gear, both during the upshifting and downshifting process for appx. 1. 5 miles, then it would resolve itself. I also noticed that the car often fails to accelerate when attempting to overtake other vehicles. The car has been at the dealer for almost a week now and they are unable to determine what is causing this (cannot duplicate during test drives and no codes stored in the computer). This noises during shifting problem happened on 06/01/13.

The VIN of the car is JNKCV51E96_. The owner has a 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan. The contact heard a ticking sound while accelerating. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The check engine light illuminated at 3,300 miles. The dealer replaced the cam shaft sensor. At 6,400 miles, the ticking noise returned and the check engine and oil lights illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle as consuming a large amount of oil. The vehicle was put through an oil consumption test and failed twice. At 7,500 miles, the vehicle stalled while turning and the check engine light illuminated once more. The dealer has diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new engine and would like to install a test engine designed for this type of failure. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 8,600 and failure mileage was 1,800. The consumer stated the vehicle shifts very rough. Updated 07/06/07. Very shortly after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer noticed spots on the driveway, which then progressed into a horrible whining and grinding noise. The vehicle started to shift erratically and the consumer did not feel she had control of the vehicle. The consumer made an appointment with the dealer, and after having the vehicle for a day, she was informed the entire transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle involved is a 2012 Kia Motor Sorento. Problem: 7 year old was able to pull console shift lever on automatic transmission without keyless ignition out of park and into neutral and/or reverse (we didn't try pulling further down the shift column) without the key in the ignition/vehicle turned on. The vehicle rolled out of our slightly inclined driveway, across the street and stopped resting against the curb on the other side of the road (despite my best efforts to stop the heavy vehicle and later to find out that the parking brake was about half way depressed, by my 7 year old since that was as far as she could push it). This incident occurred after returning from grocery shopping and the tailgate was open all the way with my 5 year old in the rear cargo area "helping" us with the groceries. Luckily no body was injured and neighbors helped stop traffic as I frantically tried to get my vehicle to stop and my children to safety. I understand that I should have engaged the emergency parking brake and children should not play in the driver's seat of a vehicle, but this incident has been reported by others (after searching this website) and no matter what an automatic transmission vehicle should not disengage from park, no matter how hard one pulls on the shift lever without the vehicle turned on; a safety measure since at least 1994 when I first started driving. I should also note, that when the brake is applied while the vehicle is in motion there is a clicking noise that comes from the area of the shifter on the console, which was repaired about a year ago under warranty. I inquired at that time exactly what the issue was, but did not receive an answer from the dealership's service center, only I noticed that the issue was no longer there. Now the issue had reappeared before this incident and I have not had the time to have it fixed again, but was assured the broken part did not affect safety, maybe. It was 09/22/13 when this noises during shifting issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2011 Kia Motor Sorento. Driving at 65mph with cruise control set; when suddenly there was a violent jerk/hesitation, and an extremely loud bang, as though I had hit something. Stopped on side of the road, vehicle not making any different noise or running different, placed without a problem into park. Checked around vehicle nothing out of order, no fluids running under vehicle, tires ok, unable to locate a problem. It seemed like a miss or something with the transmission, didn't notice lights or any thing abnormal on warning system. Got back in car and continued on no abnormal noise, shifted with out incident, not sure but I am wondering about a transmission issue, hope it doesn't happen agan. This noises during shifting issue occurred 04/13/2013.

Vehicle identification number (VIN): 5LMEU68H84_. 2004 Lincoln Aviator gears were slipping and would not shift; had it checked and was told the transmission was failing. 2 days later we had to have it towed to the shop because it was stuck in "neutral". Had to replace the transmission at only 63,000 miles. Never had a transmission fail with only 63k miles, all preventative maintenance is kept up on our vehicle. Loud noise at startup and a/c does not work, I believe it is the clutch. No help from Ford even though there are multiple complaints of transmission/power train problems. The vehicle is a 2002 Mercedes Benz C320. I have experienced the same exact problems with transmission not shifting properly as well the power seat module draining the battery with numerous jump starts. This occurred just two weeks after gladly purchasing my "five point certified" 2002 C320 wagon. Mercedes benz of greensboro also would not fix chipping on the front bumper. States because the vehicle is low profile the bumper sustained this extensive peeling as a result. Peeling is located from left to right top to bottom. Service dept manager acknowledged the fact that dealership did a poor job at repairing the pre-existing damage prior to selling. After one carwash the chipping was very noticeable and increased with each wash. The salemans would not agree. Paint still peeling after numerous attempts. I have refused to pay for a pre-existing problem, but will probably incur this expense just to trade the car. The trunk makes a horrible rattling noise while traveling at low or high speed. Numerous lights replaced over the past 2 years. Rear view mirror will not lock into position when interior of car exceed 60-70 degrees because rubber seal becomes too hot. Also at stated temperature the digital message board becomes obscure and unreadable. Tires needing to be replaced often. Emissions problems, truly the list goes on. In fact, the reason I'm posting this complaint is because I have the time to. My car is sitting outside and will not start. Possibly fuel pump/sensor- a $700 repair. I'm tired and have reached my limit with the numerous problems, truly. Personally feel injured after sustaining such unfair treatment and inconvenience after numerous attempts to negotiate repairs. Prayerfully expecting recalls and full restitution for the money tied up in this vehicle, be it from the manufacturer or dealership. All documentation of service available upon request. The integrity of mb along with its reputation has proven not to be one of it long stated history. Sadly, I am disappointed. The failure date was Friday, November 11, 2005.

My 18 year old son was driving my 2007 Mercury Mariner, when it started making loud noises and shaking like crazy, he was barely able to keep the vehicle running to get home. When my husband looked at vehicle and saw what it was doing, he thinks the transmission has gone out on it. We had driven the vehicle to church Sunday morning (same day) and there was no signs or symptoms of any kind of problem. I purchased the vehicle used, and it has not had a problem except for the shifter had to be replaced about 3 months ago. . . Mechanic stated that there had been something sweet spilled inside of the shifter, however, I drive the vehicle 99. 9% of the time and I drink water. . . . . . After researching and reading all the complaints on this vehicle on this website, I do realize that there is a manufactured defect in the transmission and the shifter. How and why has there not been a recall on these vehicles? why didn't some of the warning lights come on? we are very fortunate that this has not happened before now and caused us to have an accident. It was 04/13/14 when this noises during shifting issue occurred.

I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant and have had it in the shop repeatedly for the front suspension, brakes, electrical problems and now I'm having transmission problems and lots of engine noise. My front suspension has a squawking sound everytime you go over a speed bump, the whole front end has been rebuilt but it is still doing the same thing. This started at about 8,800 miles and there is now 23,000 and the dealership is telling me there is nothing wrong
my brakes have been squeaking since about 8,800 miles also and they have replaced my front pads since there was a tech bulletin placed and yet this has still not fixed the squeaking. My engine idle fluctuates while sitting in drive and my engine has a loud start up sound almost like there is an exhaust leak but there is not. My transmission when first shifted into reverse stutters as I pull out of my driveway and when in drive you can feel the transmission stutter as long as the car is cold. My car also pulls to left within 4 seconds after not holding the steering wheel extremely tight and this started after they replaced the rack-in-pinion. I have a metal rattling sound coming from the front driver's side of the vehicle but when it is taken into the dealership they state that they could not produce the concern. Yet they have heard it before and had to replace all the springs and pins in the brakes. My tires have worn down dramatically on the outsides even though the correct amount of tire pressure is in the tires. There has not been a time when I have ever been less than 3 lbs under pressure. This noises during shifting issue occurred Nov. 21, 2007.

The vehicle was a 2011 Nissan Rogue. This is the situation that happened with my vehical too, the below statement is another persons complaint as well as mine. I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue but my transmission was installed in oct 2010, I am having the same issues that are happening with the 2010 recall . They are getting the extended warranty and I feel that the 2011 should get the same extended warranty summary: the 2011 Rogue is the car we use for longer trips when we're not flying. About two hours into a long interstate trip in may 2013 we started to hear a high pitched whine from the transmission whenever we would accelerate to go uphill or pass another vehicle. Shortly after we started hearing that noise the transmission was unable to "downshift" (technically cvts don't downshift) and we lost power. We could still maintain a reasonable speed on level terrain, but we were barely able to maintain speed going over small hills. We would have our foot planted on the accelerator but nothing would happen, acceleration wise. Once we'd stop, turn the car off, wait a few minutes, then start the car and get back to driving, everything would be fine. But after a while of extended driving the problem would return. This issue has shown up a few time since then but always during extended driving sessions and never on the day-to-day short commutes, which has made it frustrating to track. In doing a simple google search we found many other Rogue owners describing our exact same symptoms, and even someone that posted a youtube video during their problem. It was 05/05/14 when this noises during shifting issue happened.

The vehicle involved was a 1996 SAAB 9000. The automatic transmission was replaced three times. The first transmission was replaced due to a worn out oil pump(the fluid was burned), and there was a whining noise. The second incident happened while the consumer was driving and the transmission did not shift properly (had to drive back manually/the mechanic found an internal problem), the vehicle stayed in fourth gear, and had to be replaced with a rebuilt transmission. The rear brake pads had worn out. . The seat heater light was inoperative, the dealer replaced the seat heater switch, the exhaust system was replaced, the drive belt and pulleys were replaced. The mechanic stated something within the vehicle was built incorrectly to cause the transmission to fail. The motor for the rear windshield wipers had to be replaced, which caused the front windshield wipers not to work, and the hazard lights worked intermittently. This noises during shifting problem happened on 08/01/01.

The car is a 2006 SAAB 9-3. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is YS3FH41U46_. Hard shifting, slipping of transmission when accelerating. 2006 aero v6, when cold the shifting of the automatic transmission is very stiff resulting in noises and bumps when up or down shifting in the 'auto' mode. Shifting into higher gearing at highway speeds are slow and often up and down as the transmission tries to find the correct gear range. This occurs (looking for gears) when warm. Also when warm going down hill the shifting bumps very hard to lower gears causing car to slow down dramatically. When cold, transmission sometimes will not shift up when accelerating while making a turn from a stop. It was Sep. 26, 2009 when this noises during shifting issue happened.

After regular preventative maintenance, 2003 Saturn Vue has continuously experienced transmission problems from 70,000k point on. Vehicle drops gear (often in busy traffic, at intersections, occasionally while just traveling down a road at 30-40 mph), does not shift into higher gear (causing sudden loss of speed during highway travel), makes loud grinding noises while turning and accelerating and otherwise fails to operate properly. Recently had vehicle serviced ($1,000 in charges) and was told that modular was cracked and transmission fluid needed replacement. Problems continue after servicing. Have read extensive reports and complaints involving Saturn Vue vt1 transmission. Saturn needs to have a recall - it's consumers can't afford all of these repairs for what is clearly a faulty transmission that has been discontinued!. This problem occurred on Jun. 1, 2007.

The car involved was a 2014 Subaru Forester. While driving our 2014 Forester xt 2. 0 uphill on the highway at about 50 mph, the cel, hill-assist, eyesight-disabled and another warning light all came on. I pulled off the road, stopped and called the dealer, who said the car could be safely driven in for inspection as the cel was not blinking. Apparently the cel light sets off a bunch more to get your attention. The obd codes the dealer pulled said the catalytic converter had failed (no further explanation was offered). They said a new one would be ordered and installed under warranty. So the dealer put in the new catalytic converter yesterday, and now the engine performs extremely poorly compared to before service. The electronic turbo boost gauge now shows negative boost (I. E. , no activation) until over 20% throttle position in I mode (before, turbo boost was obtainable at 8% throttle). There is a humming sound (rather like the alternator belt noise Ford vans make) that drowns out the engine purr when gently revving the engine in park and, when driving, the cvt shifts very irregularly and at much higher rpms in I mode (e. G. , staying in one gear until tach hits 2000 before shifting where before the tach never went above 1500 at any speed unless we were in s/I or s# mode and shifting manually with the paddles). I have notified Subaru of America of the situation and this car is going back to the shop first thing Monday morning. This problem occurred on Feb. 14, 2014.

The car involved was a 2008 Suzuki Forenza. My family and I were going down the road and there was a weird noise and the engine started to rev up and the speedometer was going down to 30 miles an hour, at the same time the rpm"s were going higher. I pulled to the side of the road because the shift gage on the instrument panel was flashing weird. It had a d with a line thru it. We had to shift it manually from 1st gear up to drive. It was scarey since there was a truck with a trailer behind me coming up fast. It has done this to us twice in the last two weeks. I have seen that there are other people having the same problem or simular. Something should be done. When we have a warranty we still shouldn' t have to pay a deductible for some problem with this brand car" power train and speed control sensors. Going out and needing to be replaced. This problem occurred on 07/29/13.

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Volkswagen Gti. The first incident that I had was starting with the car making weird noises that were coming from the engine/transmission when the car would start. It is hard to explain the noise, but it sounded like something was winding up. I took the car to dealership. They weren't able to establish what was wrong with the car. Check engine light didn't come on, and car did not reproduce the same noise when I took it to the dealership. I was told that they couldn't see anything wrong with the car. 09/05/2013, more noise, and this time was followed by hard downshifts, and hard bucking. Every time the car would accelerate, or if you were coming to the stop, it would shift hard, car would buck. I was told that the dsg mechatronic unit has failed. Transmission replaced 04/09/2014 my wife was driving the car. Speed 45 to 50 mph. She noticed that the car wasn't able to accelerate. Engine was revving up, but car wouldn't go. Pulled over on the shoulder, before someone rear ended her. She looked at the dash board, and she noticed that "d" was flashing. She took the car to dealer to see what is going on. I was told that a power supply relay was the cause of this problem, and it wasn't covered by the power train warranty. Part # 4h0-951-253-a relay car was picked up on 04/24/2014 05/08/2014 I stopped at the red light, was going to make a right turn, but the car wouldn't want to accelerate. It felt like it was in neutral. Engine was revving, but car wouldn't move. I looked at the dash board, and "d" light was flashing. I pulled onto the side of the road, so I don't get rear ended. I tried to select the neutral gear, "n" was flashing. Each gear position that I selected was flashing. I drove the car back to dealer, and told them what have happened. Car is currently at the dealer. This noises during shifting problem happened on Jul. 10, 2013.

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 3VWST71K06_. At approx 80-90k I started hearing a clattering noise from the engine and extra noise when idling. Also, the car has a hard time shifting (automatic trans). After taking the car to a mechanic, I was told that it's the dsg dmf coming apart and rattling. After doing some research, I find it's a common problem. It started happening shortly after my car went out of cpo warranty, which expired at 74k. I didn't really pay that much attention to it until it got worse. This is a 06 tdi mkv with auto dsg, brm engine. Also experiencing difficulties with soot in fuel filter, likely due to faulty seal in fuel injectors under cam shaft. Once again, common problem according to mechanics and online forums on this model. There's a recall on the dmf for this model in australia, needs to have one for us. The failure date was Sep. 22, 2013.

The VIN of the car is WAUKD78P76_. I have an Audi A3 2006. Several years ago (end of 2009/beginning of 2010), I started feeling and hearing a clunking noise and the car would lunge forward a few inches when approaching stop signs or red lights and downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear. This would happen periodically and has been increasing in strength. I was told by Audi that it was a due to a faulty mechatronic system, which is like the brains of the car. Audi service quoted me a cost of approximately $2500 to replace the mechatronic system. I have read on many forums that this has been happening to many Audi A3 owners and that they have not issued a recall for this issue. Given the frequency of the issue, I think this should be addressed by Audi and recalled. It was 10/01/2010 when this noises during shifting issue occurred.

The car involved is a 2003 BMW 745li. I purchased a 2003 745li November 2007 when coming to a stop there is a clunking noise with harsh downshift. Took car dealership on several occasions with concern and after several failed attempts to remedy the issue was finally made aware that there was service bulletin concerning transmission issue. Dealer stated that it was possibly from transmission and advised me to come back for repairs. In November 2008 was the first time that I had to get the transmission replaced because of the clunking with harsh downshift. This issue returned and progressed and the transmission was replaced for the second time due to same issue 08-2009. After second transmission installed issue still existed and was advised that there was a software issue with transmission and that there was not any other updates at this time and the information would be forwarded for BMW for analysis. The universal /guibo has been replaced 3-4 times since I've had the car because of clunking noise harsh downshifting. As time went on around may 2011 there was an incident where as I was driving, approaching and coming to a stop at a stop sign, in addition to the harsh clunking the car jerked and accelerated forward almost into ongoing traffic. Took it back to the dealership, they mentioned the service bulletin again concerning the issue stated that the transmission might need to be replaced. They first replaced the universal/guibo, which I had to pay out of pocket and the issue still exists. The incident that happened in may 2011 happened again for the second time in Nov. 2011. I believe that there are some major issues with transmission and electrical system. Since then I've been having, brake/drive malfunction among other issues. I consider this to be safety concern. This issue should be thoroughly investigated. This noises during shifting issue occurred 01/31/2008.
