First incident of the fuel sensor failing (low fuel light and fuel gauge indicator false) was at 68,400 miles. 2nd time failed on 04/16/2011 at 98,500 miles which costs me another 800. 00 bucks. This is the 3rd time its starting to act up again at 118,300 miles, and will probably cost me again!! I can see it happening once, but not understand how it can happen 3 times that is ridiculous, not to mention the expense! Chevrolet should have had some type of recall on this or least figure out what is causing the problem. There is no doubt in my mind this is a defect with the part and very expensive to repair. I have researched this problem and it seems a lot of people have experienced this issue. This issue could be dangerous and people have little choice for safety reasons but to correct this problem at great expense. This needs a recall . . Not everyone has $800. 00 laying around and gm should fix this for free especially when it happens a 2nd, 3rd time! come on gm your rep is on the line. . car   Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of Nissan Frontier

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1N6AD07UX5_. My Nissan Frontier truck's "check engine soon" light appeared. The warning was dtc p0463. It corresponds with Nissan's technical bulletin el07-027b, reference ntb07-069b. Nissan extended the warranty to 9/24/11 and 72,000 miles or less. My vehicle's mileage is at 32,500 miles. Nissan recognized that it had a problem with the fuel level sending unit. They even extended the warranty for it. Unfortunately, I don't drive this vehicle much. I checked on the internet. Many of the problems appeared at the 30,000 mile mark. My fuel gauge is erratic and does not show an accurate level of fuel. This problem is caused by the deterioration of the unit based on use and not time; therefore, I believe they should either recall this part or extend the warranty with either the time or mileage or unlimited. I am afraid that my fuel will run out without any warning and cause a major accident on the freeway. I am very frustrated with Nissan. They don't take ownership over their problems. I personally will not purchase a Nissan vehicle again. This other fuel system fuel gauge issue occurred May 1, 2014.

I took the vehicle to the dealer and quoted for replace the two failing fuel sending units $100 to inspect + $700/$800 part & labor. Of course is not covered by Nissan. How many other brands beside Nissan have you seen with this problem? I am simply appalled by the lack of concern from Nissan. After reading complaints about air bag warning lights, drivers seat collapsing, visors falling blocking the view of the driver, check engine light coming on due to fuel gauge failure, wiper motor/transmission going out. My Nissan Murano has all these problems and more. I cannot believe Nissan does not identify this as a safety issues and allows the consumer to pay for these faulty components. The fact that Nissan does not stand up behind their products is an insult to everyone who bought this product. Nissan offers no assistance despite the clear premature failure of the components. We love teh car but it should hole together better than this. Theres are not items caused by high millage jut plain poor designs. Seats breaking - no way, visors falling down - no way, fuel gauge failure - no way, air bag warning light - no way, wiper motor/transmission - no way - please help us!!!!. car   Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Saturn Vue. I have unfortunately owned my Saturn 2004 Vue for 2 years. The first 3 months of having it, after having to replace my 2003 Vue for all the problems it had was in the shop the first 4 months of purchase. The power engine failure light would go on and I would lose all power to the car. They had no idea how to fix it. Then the back windshield shattered. The gas mileage is horrible and the whole gas tank and odometer has had to be replaced. I would feel the car up with gas and the odometer would go to full and move back up to half full. The car is in the shop again for throttle and engine problems again. Have had the real displeasure of working with a very rude lady at Saturn by the name of marcia who clearly does not care about ones safety in their vehicle. According to Saturn the newer vehicles have had these problems fixed. However, I must say having been a Saturn owner for 12 years now my faith in their product is gone. The failure date was Sunday, December 26, 2004.

car   Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of Subaru Outback

The car involved was a 1999 Subaru Outback. There are several issues going on with my 1999 Subaru legacy Outback vehicle: 1) the check engine light goes on when the fuel gauge drops down to empty although the gas tank was just filled with gas. 2) the fuel gauge does not read correct. After the gas tank is full, the gauge fluctuates back and forth (sometimes the gauge reads near empty, sometimes the gauge reads 3/4 of the tank full) when operating the vehicle. 3) the car did not pass the California smog test. 4) the rpm gauge does not stay constant while driving at an even speed. Once the gauge hits between two to three thousand rpm, the gauge drops back to between one and two thousand rpm on and of when driving. 5) the gas tank does not maintain pressure even though the lid was screwed on tight. The lid was replaced with a new one but this problem still occurs. All these issues occur with the check engine light on. The dealer does not want to look at these issues without having me pay them to look at my car. These issues my car has been experiencing have been on and off since 2001 to present. The problems seem to get worse. This other fuel system fuel gauge problem happened on February 8, 2003.

car   Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of Audi S4

The vehicle is a 2000 Audi S4. The problem I am experiencing is analogous to a recall already announced for the Audi NHTSA recall no. 00v-147, vw recall no. Ur * I have a 2000 Audi S4 with 64,000 miles. I recently received my car back from a 64,000 mile service. My gas gauge had indicated I had at least a quarter tank of gas left, and my trip computer indicated I had more than 60 miles until empty. I was on the highway when the car started sputtering. At first, I didn't know what the problem was. Luckily, I was able to turn through 3 lanes of traffic with no power and get into the emergency lane. I checked my car, and there were no obvious signs of the problem. I happened to notice that my trip computer miles counter (which I reset on every fill-up), was reading higher than would be typical. It was at that point that I suspected I had run out of gas. I called aaa, requesting a gallon of gas. Indeed, this solved the problem. I was fortunate in my situation. I doubt others who also experience this problem would be as lucky. I've already heard many stories on car forums, etc. Of owners having 'close calls' because they've run out of gas when they don't expect to. This problem has been linked to the sending unit Audi uses in these models. There have been many failures, and it is all too common a problem that needs to be addressed. It is absolutely identical to the sending unit failures on the 2000 a6, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be addressed on the 2000 a4/s4 (b5 platform) or any other model that uses the same unit. This problem occurred on Thursday, June 24, 2004.

car   Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of Audi A6

The vehicle is a 2001 Audi A6. I noticed that my fuel gauge was incorrect. I took car to the dealer and was told there was a bad fuel sender unit. The repair was estimated to cost $1000. I took the car to an independent mechanic who confirmed the problem but told me there had been a recall on the car for this problem. He gave me a printout of the recall notice, which had been issued in 2001. I spoke with Audi of America and was told that I would have to confirm with the dealer that this recall work had been done on my car. In the database, the dealer found that my car had been checked for this problem in sept 2001 (before I purchased it) and it had been determined that no action was necessary. I spoke again with Audi of America and after their representative had "researched" the issue, I was told that the correct fuel sending unit must have been in my car or they would have replaced it. So I am left with a nonfunctioning fuel gauge and no help from Audi on fixing this safety problem. It was Wed., Sep. 1, 2004 when this other fuel system fuel gauge issue occurred.
