car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Chrysler Aspen

I currently own a 2009 Chrysler Aspen hybrid. Today while fueling my vehicle I experienced the same problem I have been having since I purchased the vehicle about 3 weeks ago. As I am fueling the fuel trigger shuts off on me constantly. As I take it out to reinsert it, it spits out fuel at me. Once I am done fueling and proceed to cap the tank it spits fuel at me as well. Today I was drenched in fuel because as I began fueling my vehicle which had an empty tank it started to spit fuel back at me. This is not only hazardous to the environment but it’s also a personal safety hazard. I had to return home to change because my pants where covered in fuel. As I started to look for facts I noticed that I am not alone. Apparently this is a common issue amongst the durango/aspen models but nothing has been done. I ask you to please look into this issue. Today no one was injured or hurt but if I were to go anywhere after fueling and be exposed to any open flame I can almost assure you that my clothing would have caught on fire all due to a malfunction on these vehicles. I have included below four of a few links that have other individuals whom have or are experiencing the same issue. Please advice. It was Apr. 17, 2014 when this other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings issue occurred.. Read more...

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle is a 2013 Chrysler town and country. The VIN of this vehicle was 2C4RC1BG4D_. I bought this van about 2 weeks back. The dealer had filled up the gas tank. Yesterday I wanted to refuel and then I realized that this was the most unsafe car I have seen. Anybody could have access to the gas cap. There is no key lock or lever lock to it. Just flip open the cover and unscrew the cap and put anything into the gas tank or draw out the gas if you want to. This car costs about 30,000 and has all sorts of features but I am scared to take it out of my garage and park it anywhere else. I hope the manufacturer does something in regards to the accessibility of the gas cap to ease the mind of the owners of this vehicle. I would not have bought this car if I had noticed this at the time of purchase. It was Dec. 23, 2013 when this other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings issue occurred.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Dodge Magnum

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Dodge Magnum. If I fill my tank and I drive it away from the pump, it will stutter, hesitate, jerk, then die. I lose all power steering, breaks, engine. Afterwards, it won't immediately restart. It will start again after a few minutes. It won't start driving good again until I run the gas level down a little. After I fill, it will run ok until I make a turn or come to a stop, something that will slosh the fuel in the tank again then it will act like it is starved for fuel. This happens everytime I fill my tank. If I don't fill it completely then it will do it. It never did this when I first bought my car. One time after I this happened, I opened the gas cap and it was hissing and spitting gas just sitting there. This is a very dangerous situation as if this happened on the highway I could become involved in a collision. It has happened at least a half dozen time and have since not filled my tank up until today and it happened again. This problem occurred on 07/14/11.

The vehicle involved was a 1999 Infiniti I30. 2/21/21, turning on the ignition created a severely rough idle, the auto could not maintain "running status", a severe fuel odor ensued with blue-black smoke billowing out of the exhaust pipe. Towed to the Nissan dealer in shingle springs, CA. Per the dealer evaluation: #2 fuel injector replacement and "o" rings. The mechanic found metal shavings on the fuel injector and it continued with blue-black smoke per the exhaust while running. May require new fuel sensor if this does not resolve. We purchase all our fuel from the folsom, CA. Sams club. 2/11/14 was the date of the last gas purchase. 2/20/14 we attempted to purchase fuel for another vehicle but found the station closed during inspection by a company called tankology. Could there be a relationship with metal shavings in the fuel, consequently creating this break down? to date we have spent $624. 00 in repairs, $150. 00 in car rental. We would appreciate your evaluation and response. Thank you. It was 02/21/14 when this other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings issue happened.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Kia Motor Sorento

The car is a 2003 Kia Motor Sorento. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is KNDJD73383_. We have a 2003 kia Sorento, and since November while pumping gas, fuel suddenly spews out -- like a soda can that had been shaken. Online we can find other 2003 kia Sorentos also complaining about what's known as fuel spit-back. . The national highway traffic safety administration investigated over 100 complaints of spit-back on 2003 kia Sorentos. Complaints allege that while refueling the vehicle, fuel can spill out or spit back from the fuel filler port on model year (my) 2003 kia Sorento vehicles. Consumers report that the spilled fuel can splash on the person fueling the vehicle, or on the side of the vehicle and the ground. Just like ours. Then in January 2012, kia's testing found that if the canister filter becomes significantly clogged, excess pressure can build up in the fuel tank and cause fuel to spit back from the filler port during refueling. To address the issue of fuel spit back during refueling, kia conducted a service campaign of approximately 86,000 my 2003 and 2004 kia Sorento vehicles. The campaign will provide a one-time replacement of the canister filter, at no cost to the owner -- this was done on our car on March 6, 2012. Before this service, there was no problem with fuel spit-back, now it happens every time we fuel up. The dealer wants to charge us to fix it, the company is of no help your agency closed its investigation, but it seems you must reopen it. Again, we did not have the fuel spit-back problem until after the service!!!!!!!!!!!. This problem occurred on Thu., Nov. 15, 2012.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Mercedes Benz E350

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Mercedes Benz E350. The VIN of the problem E350 is WDBUF56J86_. About a year ago (may 2013) we noticed gas smell in the compartment of the car. Initially it was sporadic. We thought it was from outside of the car or may be under the car, or gas tank cap was not tightened properly. After I took my car to Mercedes Benz dealership on 9/6/13, I found out that the smell was not from either of the above scenarios. It was indeed from inside the cabin and the Mercedes Benz technician told me that it was from fuel leakage under the back seat and it would cost $1380 to fix it. Additionally he said that he had seen numerous cases like mine, and some were so bad that they would not be able to drive it in, and had to tow the car in. Because of the high cost in addition to the other repairs that I had to do worth $1,200, I decided to delay this repair. Now we can not even drive the car because of the intense smell and will cost me probably more that $1,380 to fix it. I believe strongly that this is a manufacturer defect and should be fixed and paid for by Mercedes Benz. The failure date was May 1, 2013.

The car was a 2004 Saturn Ion. Smelled gas leaking for a few weeks every time we would fill up. Just assumed it was spillage. Finally noticed drips of gas under car then a whole tank of gas ended up on my driveway. Car would also intermittently not start, presumably due to fuel leakage. Had repair done by private mechanic who determined fuel lines had completely rusted through. Saturn says not responsible due to the original recall only involving a rusted fuel filter, however this was an immediate fire/safety threat. The failure date was 01/01/2014.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Saturn ION

The car is a 2007 Saturn Ion. The VIN of this vehicle is 1G8AM18F07_. Early in 2013, we noted some moisture in the trunk of this vehicle. In late may, we hung a "damp rid" desiccant device in the trunk and noted that the "damp rid" device rapidly saturated with moisture and also formed clumps and/or crystals in the trunk of the auto. (the "damp rid" in the trunk was saturated within two weeks, whereas it takes a couple of months when hanging inside a closet in the house 1-888-326-7743). This week, I inserted a brand new 9 volt battery into a kidde model number kn-coeg-3 carbon monoxide/explosive gas monitor and placed the monitor in the trunk. Within 24 hours, the monitor was chirping. The peak level of gas after 24 hours in the trunk of the car was 10. (this household monitor can not discriminate the precise type of gas in this particular case). Today, I opened the trunk and cleaned everything out. The source of the moisture was clearly noted on the passenger side inside of the trunk because the interior of the trunk was actually muddy close to a one way flapper vent/valve on the passenger side. The one way valve measures around 4 inches high and 6 inches long. I am reporting this because of the proximity to the gas tank filler cap on the passenger side, 12 volt ac delco battery on the passenger side in the trunk, and auto emissions from this Saturn and other cars. Inhalation of any or all of these fumes or vapors can lead to health problems including erratic behavior, drowsiness, etc. Of course the risk of explosion and corrosion of sensitive electrical and fuel components is accelerated in damp conditions. It was Tuesday, June 25, 2013 when this other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings issue occurred.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Subaru Forester

The car was a 2008 Subaru Forester. In July of 2012 while driving on the highway my check engine light came on, canceling my cruise control. I took the car to repair garage I was using and the evap code indicated a leak of . 002. The car was smoke tested and the garage recommended to change gas cap, which I did with generic cap. The again in November of 2012 the check engine light came on again while driving on the highway at 70 mph, again the code was possible evap leak. In Jan 2013 check engine light came on again on the highway, had it smoke tested for 3 hours at the garge, no leak was detected. Changed gas cap again. Then in may 2013 again on the highway, check engine light came on. Again posible evap leak, suggested to get "Subaru" gas cap. Subaru parts personal said the roll over valve on the top of the gas tank was usually the problem most of the time. If the check engine light comes on again, will probably need to replace. So in June after coming off the highway, the check engine comes on. Took car to Subaru and said could not be certain it was roll over valve, however suggested to replace. Code was p0456, which was same code that appeared before in may. If the Subaru forrester has this problem on these models, shouldn't this part be a "maintenance" item to prevent engine troubles? my question for you is how many Subaru forrester's have had this problem? is there a way to ask Subaru for how many Subaru forrester's have had this part replaced on all Subaru forrester's to evaluate if manufacture defect? to change this part, I was charged $418. 14 + tax to fix problem I have no "scheduled" maintenance for . Thank you. This problem occurred on Jul. 15, 2012.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The car involved was a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Volkswagen Jetta is 3VWLL7AJ1C_. On 5/31 we filled our tdi after getting 515 miles on our previous tank of fuel. 5/31 was my last diesel fillup in my tdi before my issue came about. At that visit on 5/31 we added 14. 207 gallons of fuel to our 14. 5 gallon tank. About 12 days passed from our last fillup and after 405 miles or 3/4 of a tank of fuel usage since our last fuel up on 5/31 we went on Sunday 6/9 to start our vehicle. It started and then quickly died. We then tried to turn the vehicle over again and it would turn over but the engine would not ignite seemed to be a fuel issue to my husband) but in all efforts he tried to jump our vehicle . . . . No fix. On Monday we called for a tow we arrived to the dealership and the dealership got our car into the shop. . . Diagnostics stated that we had gasoline in our diesel vehicle. . . At no time did we ever or have ever put gasoline in our car we have had this car for almost 29k miles and are other diesel product owners. We were blamed over and over again that we put gasoline in our car but thankfully we saved the reciept of our last fill up that stated we did put diesel in our vehicle the dealership stated they had to drian our fuel tank and replace our fuel filter. . . . This would be at a cost of almost $300. We stated to them we wanted a sample of the fuel drained and they did give us this. Our arguement to the dealership was why would our vehicle now decided not to start or run after â¾ of a tank of fuel and almost 420 miles on the tank of fuel. It seems very odd. The dealership was very quick to pass the buck to the gas station reading the reports and complaints I am not the only one this has happened to. Volkswagen owners state that there are known issues of the fuel system in the dsg tdi and still has not been recalled. I feel like I may also be another victuim of this blinded known corportate problem. Someone needs to be held accountable¦. car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. I started my car and for the first time ever, it hesitated and failed to start. I restarted my car and it started. I proceeded to drive home and about a half mile into the drive it hesitated and lost much of its power. A flashing glow plug warning light came on and then a quick message on the display about an engine failure and bring to service. I was about a mile from my vw dealership and drove towards it. About a quarter of a mile later, the car (still hesitating - now I know it is called "limp mode") made a grinding noise from the passenger side of the engine bay, and the car lost all power and stopped in traffic. I had to have it towed to the dealership, where they diagnosed a high pressure fuel pump failure. The entire fuel system (fuel tank, 3 pumps, all fuel lines, common rail fuel delivery system, fuel filter holder, fuel filter, fuel injectors) were replaced under power train warranty. I am the only person to fill this car with diesel fuel and always do so at reputable stations. The fuel was tested and did not contain gasoline or any additives. This car was first purchased in north carolina and is a us vehicle. I bought it from the original owner (at 6200 miles) and drove it to canada. It is registered in ontario. I have had all service done in buffalo NY at northtown vw while under warranty and this repair was also performed (as per vw of America restrictions) in buffalo NY. I had to pay the expense of having it towed from toronto to buffalo. This problem occurred on 11/14/2012.

The car involved is a 1999 Volvo V70xc. I bought this Volvo used w/ 120k miles. I saw records of major work done at the dealer just previous to 100,000 and figured it would be good for another 100k. At 131k, it began constantly stalling and lunging. I did a tiny bit of research and learned of the recall. I took it to the dealer and they tried to charge me 200 to do nothing other than read the codes and tell me the etm software had already been updated, and that the mass airflow sensor was bad. I replaced the mafs to no change. This issue happened on Jun. 1, 2007.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Audi A4

The car involved is a 2003 Audi A4. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WAULC68E13_. In March 2009, I heard some loud noises from the area over the fuel tank. I took it to my mechanic and they could not identify as it was intermittent. They finally determined that it was the fuel filter and it would need replaced but not urgently. A couple of days later, the car stalled and would not restart. Luckily it stalled as I turned into the grocery store parking lot. I had it towed and it was determined that the fuel pump had failed. My mechanic was surprised as it was unusual that it would fail as the car had on 47k miles. The pump and filter were replaced. I was not made aware that there was a recall and it appears that my particular vehicle was not part of the recall, but I am suspicious as I recently read about the recall through the NHTSA through my progressive insurance. I also did not take the vehicle to the dealer to replace as there was no recall for my vehicle regarding the fuel pump. This problem occurred on Monday, Mar. 23, 2009.

car   Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of Jaguar XJ

The vehicle having this issue was a 1998 Jaguar Xj. Not sure exactly what the problem is. I have had the complete fuel system and water pump replaced. There appears to be a defect in the placement of where the gas cap is located on the vehicle (on top near the trunk) rather than on the side. When there is a hard rain, water leaks into the gas tank; dirt and debris gather in the opening for the gas tank and must be frequently cleaned out. The vehicle will hesitate while driving and then will refuse to start again. In reading complaints from other owners about the plastic parts used in the engine, perhaps this is my problem. As far back as the complaints go about the unreliability of the vehicle, there should have been a recall to determine why the car will just stop running for no apparent reason. This other fuel system hoses lines/piping, and fittings issue occurred 01/06/2012.
