car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Chevrolet Equinox

The vehicle involved was a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. Vehicle smelled of gasoline odors underneath becoming worse daily until leakage was obvious by gasoline puddles on ground directly under vehicle. After numerous attempts to find a recall or a solution to my problem I finally received information from local gm dealers that there were no recalls concerning my complaint even though several complaints similar to mine had been made. So, I was left with no other alternative but to attempt to fix the problem myself. After the hoses, clamps, restraints, and tank was removed it was apparent that I could not fix it so I had a mechanic to come out, proceed with removing and replacing the leaking lines and hoses and reassembling the tank back onto the vehicle's undercarriage. Of course this would end up costing me 9 arms and 3 legs but at that time the Chevrolet dealer in tupelo ms. Informed me that there was no recall in effect for my problem but that his staff would be more than happy to check out my problem and fix and replace any broken and or defected parts but they would only do so if and when I delivered my vehicle to their shop, also at my expense. A few months after all this happened and a few months ago, gm sent out a brochure stating that there was indeed a recall regarding my specific problem and that I should take immediate action to get my vehicle to the gm dealer (closest one from pontotoc being tupelo - dealership name withheld) where it would be professionally repaired free of any charges to me. If there indeed is or ever was a recall covering my problem, shouldn't there also be a reinstatement fee associated with it for victims that have been misinformed or who's problem initiated before the actual recall went into effect or is this just another way the auto companies make more money off the same individuals that paid the price to bail them out in the first place? concerned citizen (taxpayer). This problem occurred on Dec. 15, 2012.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Dodge Durango

The car was a 2005 Dodge Durango. I was driving in my apartment complex and as I slowed down to turn my truck just shut off. Steering wheel locks and I am not able to turn. I have to press hard on the brake for it to stop and I can then put it into park and turn the key to turn it back on. I have two small children of the age of 1 & 2. Having them in the car with me when this happens is nerve wrecking. It's happened at least once or twice every 2-3 weeks. I have asked mechanics in regards to this and have had it checked and no one can tell me what it is. The previous owner said that it did the same not all the time but when he took it to the Dodge dealer, they couldn't tell him what it was either. My last (most recent) incident was on 5/10/14 - the car shut off four times that day. 2 happened while I was stopped at a red light, one happened as I was slowing down to park and one happened while I was turning and the car shut off in the middle of the turning lane while my family was in the car with me. The other issue I have is with my fuel tank. I can't fill my tank becuase when I do . . . It spits out gas. Also, I've had to switch out my IL pressure switch twice since February 2014. I have no idea as to why it's doing that. The failure date was 09/02/2013.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Dodge Magnum

The car involved is a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 2D4GV57276_. After filing the fuel tank, the engine will sputter and stall. When it first began to happen to me, it seemed like I was getting bad gas. Now I know that this occurs primarily after I make a left turn and is due to a part that is inside the fuel tank. The part fails and the result is this problem with the engine stalling. This is a known problem with older Magnums, chargers, and Chrysler 300's. It is dangerous!! this has happened to be on interstate 95 and just when I got into the travel lane the engine died. I think the left turn I made was a few mile before I got to the entrance ramp and it caught me off-guard. I was lucky to be able to pull over and get onto the shoulder. This is a design failure and is not normal wear & tear. All of the older cars mentioned here can be affected. I assume you have received prior complains about this issue. Dodge is no help, but should be required to fix this problem. Thanks. It was Wed., May. 1, 2013 when this other fuel system tank assembly issue happened.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Ford Mustang

The vehicle is a 2012 Ford Mustang. The VIN of this vehicle is 1ZVBP8AM9C_. Fuel system problem: evaporative emissions system related failure, fuel fill neck failure (possibly at connection to fuel tank) and unknown other leak. Dealer claims not covered by California or federal emissions required warranty. Dealer reports seeing fuel filler neck problems on Mustang and other Ford vehicles. (possible concern for fuel or vapor leakage, safety related concern) Mustang uses "nascar" style fuel door that is clearly suspect, doesn't stay sealed tight, opens unexpectedly and allows raw fuel emissions into atmosphere. Prior software patch applied to ecm due to nascar style fuel door at 2,900 miles. This problem occurred on May. 14, 2014.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle having this issue was a 2014 GMC Acadia. I was driving to go meet my husband for lunch when all of a sudden my vehicle started to jerk and turned off. I turned out of traffic onto the first side street I found. Onstar found my location and sent a tow truck. Despite my vehicle reading I had 1/4 tank of as, I had actually ran out of gas. I have never ran out of gas in a vehicle. Several other times my gas hand would read inaccurately. For instance, my hand might show 1/2 tank of gas, but all of a sudden it would jump to 3/4 tank of gas. Despite having my vehicle repaired 4 different times for the fuel issue, the dealership says that mine is not being recalled. I decided to add my issue with the vehicle because I believe, like some of the other complainants, that gm is still hiding what is truly wrong with these vehicles. This whole situation is sad because I use this vehicle to drive my children to school. I think gm is still not doing the right thing by their customers. I have other electrical issues with this vehicle. For instance, just last week my navigation system wouldn't come on. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off and then back on again, it started working again. I 've had this happen also when trying to use my trunk and bluetooth. I also have an issue with the fact that gm thought the problem was so significant that they issued a stop delivery on the 2014 Acadia due to the fuel issue and other problems including the seatbelt, but they do not think it is significant enough of a problem for people who already own a 2014 Acadia to stop driving it. I think gm needs to think about the safety of its customers and families and be truthful about the recalls and what is really wrong with these vehicles. This issue happened on Sep. 30, 2013.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Acura Mdx. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2HNYD18724_. Same as all other complaints about fuel back flowing during a fill up. Also, can't fill up the tank because the gas pump keeps cutting off during fill up. Takes over 15 minutes just to try and fill up the tank and that is not always successful. Obviously Acura has a 'known' problem with the tank but they won't admit it to the public because then they will have to fix it at their cost. They are hoping that we will continue to pump money into useless repairs, then they may address the issue. It was Tue., Jun. 11, 2013 when this other fuel system tank assembly issue happened.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Honda Civic

The vehicle was a 2013 Honda Civic. This problem was not evident during the pre-purchase test drive because the vehicle did not have the gas tank full. However, upon driving the vehicle off the dealer lot post purchase, and during the entire subsequent ownership period, the vehicle exhibited relatively loud thud / knocking noise coming from the rear/fuel tank area upon stopping in urban driving conditions with gas tank full to half empty. The sound was of a sloshing liquid in a container (fuel?), evident in low speed braking and/or going over speed bumps. This is very annoying and completely ruined my ownership experience with Honda. I never experienced anything like this with similar models made by competition (Nissan sentra and mazda3) and owned by me prior to buying 2013 Honda Civic. I would not recommend and, most likely, would not purchase Honda vehicles myself. The failure date was Thursday, May 1, 2014.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Hyundai Santa Fe

The car is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving my Hyundai sante fe 2007 I noticed the check engine light came on. . . I noticed the miles at little over 95000 so I thought it just needed service. Then the gas gauge light came on indicating I have no gas and was empty which I knew is impossible since I had filled up a day prior and had not done much driving. The check engine light then went off about a 2-4 miles later. I went to the gas station and filled up and the light went away. . . But will always come on or after half tank of gas. I took the car to the dealer for service and they indicated its the fuel senders. They indicated no warranty on my car since it has passed the 5 year 60,000 miles warranty and the cost would be paid by me to fix. I inquired if this was a systematic problem with this vehicle and the service rep indicated he has seen a few on this vehicle, however no recall made. Im complaining since I have viewed this to be an issue with this model car online and should be corrected by the company at no cost to the consumer. This other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred May 11, 2014.

Since then I have driven the truck about 100 miles without incident. The truck has been driven 90,000 miles and well maintained. It may not be relevant to this problem, but this engine was built without an egr valve and egr vacuum solenoid. This other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred Friday, February 8, 2013.

The vehicle involved was a 2006 SAAB 9-7x. I stopped to get gas today and filled my tank all the way up. Upon re-starting the vehicle that fuel gauge said it was completely empty. I drove a few miles and the check engine light came on. After 40 miles or so, the fuel gauge went back to full but the check engine light stayed on. Then for the next 10-15 miles the fuel gauge jumped back and forth from empty to full. The check engine light never went off. I am worried it is going to shut down on my on the highway like some other people have said! this scares me. . . And it only just turned over 60k miles today! gm please step in and fix this problem before people start dying. . . Seriously! this is dangerous and I am nervous to drive my SAAB now. My 2007 Saturn Ion is leaking gas. I called the gm (800) number and was told my fuel system had a recall. When I left my vehicle with the gm dealership they called after a few hours stating they replaced the fuel system and I was good to go. A few days later my car smelled like gas again, so I took it back. The manager called me stating, "my fuel tank was cracked". I picked up my vehicle and left. If my fuel tank was cracked they would have related that information the first time. I honestly believe this is a gm issue, because I googled this problem and a lot of consumers with my model car have the same issue. It was 01/01/14 when this other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred.

When attempting to fuel the vehicle (the tank was less than one-quarter full), the gas splashed back out of the vehicle on me and allover the ground. I tried several times to fuel, but the tank will not accept gas. This issue can cause injuries from the gasoline splash, and it can cause stranded drivers because the vehicle cannot be refueled. It must be investigated. There are plenty of forums online where people complain of the same issue in their 2009 Imprezas. . . There must be a known defective part, but Subaru is not recalling it? please investigate. The failure date was May 8, 2014.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle was a 2006 Toyota Prius. The Prius was being driven up a hill when it suddenly stalled and the gasoline engine died. It was very difficult to safely move the vehicle out of traffic, since the electric mode was not capable of moving the vehicle forward up the hill. The vehicle's fuel meter on the dash displayed 3 bars remaining (indicating there should have been over 1/4 tank of fuel remaining). The vehicle was towed to a Toyota dealer, who said a software reload and cleaning the throttle bottle fixed it. A little over a week later, the vehicle was being driven on interstate, and the driver was passing a semi-trailer. While in the passing lane, the vehicle stalled again, and caused great danger as it had very little eletric power to limp to safety. The gas engine would not run or start again, with the exact same symptoms as before. Again the fuel meter showed 3 bars remaining. However, it was found that it took over 11 gallons of gasoline to then fill the tank, and the total tank capacity is in the 11 gallon range. A search of the internet resulted in other similar complaints, with one entry citing a Toyota technical manual that included the statement regarding the fuel gauge, "the inclinometer must be reset if the customer complains that they can only pump a few gallons of gas into their tank or that they run out of gas with three or four bars left on the fuel meter. " it is very concerning & frustrating that Toyota apparently is aware that their vehicles can run out of gas unexpectedly due to a faulty fuel gauge, and it can place the operator and passengers in great danger. I have contacted the Toyota dealer about the expensive repair bill ($300) that did nothing to address the cause of the problem. They are willing to look at the car again, now that they understand it is likely a bad fuel gauge system, but this is a very dangerous situation that Toyota has apparently known about. This other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred March 4, 2014.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle was a 2009 Toyota Prius. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Toyota Prius is JTDKB20U79_. Unable to add any gas to the fuel tank even when tank is near empty. Gas just spurts back out of the filler neck. Over time we have learned that this is temperature related. At or near freezing temperatures and colder it becomes impossible at times to add any gas to the tank. The only way to add fuel is to get the car to a warmer location and let it sit for a few hours. We have detailed records documenting several instances where we could add no fuel and many instances where a near empty tank will take only 1-2 gallons. The car has been seen by two different Toyota service centers but they claim they can find nothing wrong. Toyota USA has stopped responding to our requests for help. We are unable to trust the car for extended trips in the winter due to fears of getting stuck with an empty gas tank. A (related?) problem is that the fuel level indications are not consistent and thus cannot be trusted. It was 09/01/12 when this other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Volvo XC70

The car involved is a 2008 Volvo Xc70. In Mar, 2010 while in heavy slow moving traffic, car stalled. Mileage indicator showed 245 miles to empty. Car towed to Volvo dealership and it was found tank was empty and fuel sensor was not functioning properly. Problem was supposedly fixed under warranty. In Mar, 2012 on interstate in driving rain car stalled again. I was able to get to shoulder before complete stoppage. Fuel indicator showed 255 miles to empty. Again we were out of gas. Car taken to dealership where it was purchased from and they reported they could find no problem. Fuel indicator seemed to work fine after that until Aug, 2013. On a major highway the car began stalling again. I got it off the major road to wait for aaa assistance. Fuel indicator showed 245 miles to empty but tank was again empty. Volvo dealership states it will cost approx. $800 to diagnose the problem with fuel sensor and they are unable to quote a potential cost for the repair without the diagnosis. The loss of control when car runs out of gas is dangerous and terrifying. Even if we could afford the diagnosis and repair, there is no quarantee that this will not happen again, esp. Since it was supposedly repaired in 2010!. This issue happened on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Audi A6

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Audi A6. First incident March 2006 leaky gas tank had to be replaced, cost to us $2,249. 27, Audi denied responsibility. Requested Audi to report this issue to authorities. Second incident, 7/30/13 (mileage 163,016): very strong gasoline odor. Servicer removed rear seat and found fuel staining all around the sending unit. Fuel tank must again be replaced. This will be our third tank counting the original one installed at the factory. In 2008 Audi issued safety recall circular code: 2ol8/jy revised in January 2009. My first fuel tank failure occured 2 years before the recall. The Audi recall covers model years 2001 through 2005. My car is 2000 with the same defect as in later models. 2000 models should have been included in the recall. I find it incredible that Audi did not know that the identical safety defect was in the 2000 model. The 2006 fuel tank and parts were purchased new from Audi and should be the newer design fuel tank (if there had been any redesign by then). Also, as a 2006 fuel tank, repairs should be covered by the 2008 recall. Audi does not appear to have publicly recognized its design failure, and was not explicit about the problem details and the fix for the fuel tank safety problem until the 2008 recall. Using a copy of the 2008 recall notice I telephoned customer relations at Audi of America in rochester hills, mi (1-800-253-2834). Audi assigned me a case no. #130535300, and told me to take the car to an Audi dealer. Since the car was unsafe to drive it was towed to a dealer on 8/9/13. I have spent $871. 25 at my servicer to identify the defect and to tow the car to Audi. On 8/19/13 the Audi dealer called to state that Audi was not responsible for the repair and replacement of the fuel tank. I am the original owner with same address and car registration, yet never received a recall notice. We have been driving a molotov cocktail. This problem occurred on Wednesday, March 1, 2006.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Audi A6

The car involved was a 2002 Audi A6. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WAULT64B12_. Fuel vapors and leaking fuel appears when the fuel tank is filled beyond 3/4 tank. This is unsafe for the car to be parked inside of the garage. The fumes make passengers feel ill. Audi service departments want to charge over $2500 to repair. A recall for the rollover valve has been performed; however the Audi service techs say the leakage is coming from small cracks in the defective tank. Unable to have the repair done because of costs I have driven the car with less than1/2 tank of fuel for several years . The state of utah will no longer pass my vehicle inspection due to the emissions issue. My fear is the leaking fuel could be ignited by any number of sources including exhaust/heat from the vehicle. Passengers should never have to be subject to vapors inside of a vehicle. I have been to 3 different utah Audi dealerships and 1 independent Audi repair garage. I have also contacted Audi customer relations @ 1-800-253-2834. All of the Audi representatives and technicians have played dumb regarding this issue; yet the issue can be found in a number of forums where others have delt with the same issue. Audi refuses to take responsibility or even show real concern for this safety and environmental issue. This problem occurred on Mon., Jul. 6, 2009.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of BMW 740

The vehicle is a 1997 BMW 740il. The VIN of this vehicle was WBAGF832XV_. My wife and I purchased this vehicle at a certified used dealership. We fueled it up and drove it around that night and parked it at our home. The next morning it smelled terribly of gasoline so I looked under the car. The driver's side of the fuel tank was crushed in and it was pouring gasoline all over the driveway. Their was a puddle approximately 3 feet wide under the car. I had it towed to the dealer and they were shocked. We both assumed that they never filled the talk so the problem wasn't known. They replaced the tank free of charge and once again I filled the tank and drove it around for the weekend. I noticed the gasoline smell again and looked under the car and was shocked to see the tank crushed in again and the fuel leaking out. I ran a google search on this and found out that I was not alone. There is a known problem with a purge line that causes the talk to implode on itself. I am very surprised to not find a recall on this. I would think that avoiding a car fire would be a concern for the nhsta. I hope with enough complaints they force a recall. car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Cadillac SRX

The car involved was a 2012 Cadillac Srx. The VIN of this Srx is 3GYFNBE3XC_. Late in the first year after we purchased the car we noticed from the back how low the fuel tank extended toward the ground. We didn't think much of this until this year we noticed a dent on the tank. I checked the new Srxs at the dealer and found the newer models had much more ground clearance on the tank. We thought there must have been some problems and they had changed the tank clearance to correct this. I have not yet contacted the dealer to see if a correction can be made on my car. This appears to be a possible cause for a fire with the tank if you backed over a high curb with the tank extending past the back wheels toward the rear bumper. This other fuel system tank assembly issue occurred 12/01/2012.

car   Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of Cadillac SRX

The vehicle is a 2013 Cadillac Srx. I had a loss of acceleration occur on thanksgiving day. I was driving down a residential road at about 25mph when I came to the stop sign at the end of the road where I was turning right. I coasted up to the stop sign and looked to the left and it was clear and then proceeded to turn right. I pressed on the gas and it very slowly moved me into the lane and then stopped, it would not move at all. I depressed the gas all the way down and nothing happened. I didn't hear the engine rev as if it was in neutral or anything, it was just like it was dead. I didn't see any indicator lights on the dash but I was more concerned with the fact that I had a car behind me that I was concerned was going to rear end me as he was expecting me to continue moving as I turned into the road. Fortunately there wasn't a car coming from the left as I could have been hit since I as sitting there diabled in the road. After about 4 seconds the car finally responded and took off. I had the gas pedal all the way down so when it finally engaged my tires squealed and I took off. So here are the details: time of incident was 4:02pm on 11/28/2013 and the car had 1521 miles on the odo and a full tank of gas. The car had been sitting about 4 hrs and I had been driving the car about 1. 5 miles when it occurred. The outside temp was 64 degrees. If the car didn't move me forward into the road and it just didn't respond at the stop sign that wouldn't be nearly as bad but it moves you about 5 feet into traffic and then stops responding for about 4 seconds and if there was an on coming car I would have been hit. There have been several reports of this happening on this forums and it is obvious that there is something wrong somewhere in these cars (particularly the 2013). This is clearly a safety issue and Cadillac needs to figure this out before people are hurt or dies due to this malfunction. It was Thursday, November 28, 2013 when this other fuel system tank assembly issue happened.
