car   Owners/service Manual problem of Chevrolet Aveo

The car was a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. The VIN of the car is KL1TG66646_. My daytime running lights have pretty much never worked, I have always had to manually engage my lights otherwise the dtr lights would go for a few minutes then burn flicker and short out, only working when I turn the lights on the manual way. My back turn signal shorted out around early 2012. Not only did it stop working but it melted the light socket housing, making it so I had to replace the whole light socket. Most recently, either may 14th or 15th, I started up my car, but I couldn't put it into gear, it was impossible to get it into gear, so we tried to turn off the car to figure out our next move. But the key would not come out, so we had to restart the car and finally got the gear to engage, and we took it home and had to unplug the battery because we could not take out the key but did not want it to wear out the battery. The failure date was 01/01/12.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Chevrolet Aveo

The car involved was a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. I have contacted you before. First, some months after I purchased car when I turned off car ignition would not turn completely off. Went on for two + years used wd forty finally got it to work most of the time. Had to go back to car hours after driving until it would release key and turn all the way off. The dash light stayed on and drained the battery. I noticed, (not all the time) that the gas pedal under my foot felt really hot; thought it was because it was a warm day etc, but it happened in cool weather also. Replaced head gasket seal twice still have oil leak. About three years ago + or -, had to have ball something in front wheel replaced. It broke again had it done again. When I accelerate left front wheel rattles. I drive slow in it and only go to school to get grand kids and to store primarily. Went to a big city and car( dragged, would not accelerate )on up ramps, went to orlando once to visit family, same thing. Two weeks after purchase car acted dead, would not start, took off battery cables, replaced them and car started. I called the ph # in owners manual at onset of problems, they said I would have to pay for diagnostics. I had repairs done by mechanics not assc'd w/ dealership, because of cost. I spent a lot on repairs from early on after purchase. I bought a car for reliability, to transport my gkids and get to go visit my family members I FL and tenn, but I only went to visit orlando once because I was afraid of driving in the mountains. It was Thu., Oct. 23, 2008 when this owners/service manual issue occurred.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The car was a 2012 Chrysler town and country. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 2C4RC1BG2C_. When it is cold and icy the sliding doors are inoperable, either manually or electronically. If you are outside you cannot get in, if you are inside you are stuck there unless you are agile enough to crawl over the front seats. Hopefully in an accident the doors would break loose. My dealer was unable to suggest any resolution to the problem. The failure date was Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The car involved was a 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3A8FY48B08_. Trunk lock will not open. There is no trunk keyed lock for insertion of a physical key and there is no emergency manual release on the trunk door itself. Lock only has functionality from key remote or lock release on driver door which is not working. It was Mar. 12, 2013 when this owners/service manual issue occurred.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Dodge Caravan

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1D4GP45RX5_. The power door locks stopped working. The only way to lock or unlock the car is with the key, and there's no keyhole except on the driver's door. Dealer fixed it once: $89. Second time, he charged $400 for a new body module. Each time it stopped working again after about three months. He fixed it once more without charge, then said $89 each time thereafter. Another mechanic went over the wiring all the way to each door and found no problem. I have stopped paying for the fixes. I have tried the unhooking the battery and unplugging the fuse tricks but they don't work. So I drive without power locks and deal with the nuisance of manual locks. (the electric window motor on the driver side also failed - another $400 bill. This is my ninth Chrysler product but from now on I wouldn't take one if they gave it to me). This owners/service manual issue occurred May. 14, 2008.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Ford Escape

The vehicle was a 2006 Ford Escape. Started to work one morning, have a manual trans after driving about 13 miles went to shift into 4th the accelerator would not move. After several attempts it finally broke free and I continued to work w/o incident. Since then it happens on a weekly basis different times of the day and diff temps no rhyme or reason. Researched and found many other with the same problem. This morning was different. I was only 4 miles from home and the accelerator was stuck again. I was only in 2nd gear, I pushed on the accelerator hard it broke loose but this time it got stuck while almost to the floor and the car took off spinning tires. There was not much I could do but put the clutch in shift to neutral. When I finally stopped the accelerator was stuck again so that I could not accelerate and now my clutch was gone. It is now not drivable. So very very dangerous. Does there need to be a fatality for something to be done?. It was Wednesday, August 7, 2013 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Ford Escape

I bought my 2008 Ford Escape used in November 2013. In December 2013 the gas pedal started sticking each time I went to accelerate. It gets stuck "up", meaning I have to pound my foot on the gas pedal in order for it to accelerate forward. My Ford is a manual transmission and this makes it not only dangerous on the road but almost impossible to not stall out all the time. Called dealership and they were of no help. Said car was used and it is what it is. It is now may 2014 and it my family and I can hardly get anywhere. Car is very dangerous. Took car to midas for a tune up and an estimate. Midas stated my car needs a brand new throttle unit, throttle cable and a 3 part fuel kit. This will cost roughly $1000. 00 midas stated. We don't have that kind of money. I don't feel safe driving my children around and come to find out that Ford extended a warranty for Ford Escapes 2009-2012 for this same exact fuel kit and throttle issues. 2008 Ford Escapes are having the same issue for many consumers. Please help me. My family and I can't afford to get this repaired and my 6 and 8 year old (and my fiancã©) can't be driven around in this car. My own safety is one thing and I will ensure I get to work everyday, but someone is going to get hurt if this is warranty isn't extended or recalled for Ford 2008 Escapes as well. I have all midas service paperwork and documentation if needed. Please help us. We are in danger each time I drive this car and we need a car to drive. Thank you-cincinnati, ohio/ may 2014. The failure date was Dec. 10, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of GMC Sierra 1500

The vehicle involved was a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. Rear passenger door will only lock/unlock manually from the inside. I have been told the problem is a failed door lock actuator. It will not lock/unlock with power lock button or key fob and there is no keyhole except on drivers door. This is my second GMC vehicle that has had the same problem and after searching the internet this seems to be a fairly common problem and I am trying to figure out why it has not been recalled or GMC has not been forced to fix the problem. Wouldn't you consider a door that does not lock/unlock the intended way a safety issue?. This problem occurred on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of GMC Yukon

My 2005 GMC Yukon xl 1500 will spontaneously shift itself into 4lo. This doesn't only happen at low speeds. It occurs at all speeds when the vehicle is moving and in gear. When it happens, all of the lights on the push-button 4wd control module will light up or flash. No amount of button-pushing will disengage 4 wheel drive. I have also not come across any sort of manual fix, I. E. Turning off the ignition, taking the vehicle out of gear, backing up, etc. This has happened more than 5 times, and has only ceased to happen because I have removed the relay which controls the 4wd system. I am firmly convinced that it is only through sheer blind luck or divine intervention that no one has been injured while operating this vehicle. Let me restate: this issue occurs entirely at random, and not only when just starting off driving. It occurs at speed! when this happens, the vehicle literally can go from travelling at 35 mph to less than 5 mph. Keep in mind that since the brake is not depressed, following drivers have no warning of this rapid decline in speed. I believe that this is a fundamental defect in gm vehicles using this 4 wheel drive system. I think that the only reason the problem is not seen as more widespread is that the issue happens in differently-named makes and models. For instance, my problem may not be readily connected with the same issue in a Chevrolet suburban, although the two are essentially the same vehicle. Further, I believe that gm is aware that this safety hazard is the result of a manufacturing defect and is unwilling to take responsibility for the problem. A simple internet search of "stuck in 4lo" without identifying a manufacturer, brings up almost exclusively gm-built fullsize trucks using the same push-button system. I don't believe that this is mere coincidence. Here is an opportunity for ms. Barra to show that gm owns up to its errors. This owners/service manual issue occurred 03/06/13.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Acura TL

The vehicle involved is a 2012 Acura Tl. Keyless start (push button) and problem occurred when no warning that key fob was not in vicinity of car after car was started and driven 2 hours away. My daughter handed me her keys to the Acura Tl (incl key fob) through the drivers side window after the car had been started so I could get some items out of our other car before she left to return to her home 5 hours away. I retrieved her items but forgot to give her the key fob back as the car was running and no warning indicators were given (audio or visual) that the key fob was not in the vicinity of the car. She headed off and stopped 2 hours later for gas only to find the car would not restart - due to the missing key fob. After experimentation and reading the owners manual I found that only when the door is opened and the fob is removed from the vehicle will a notice and alarm be given. If passed through an open window (as we did) no warning of any kind is given and the driver can drive off as if everything is fine. This is a significant flaw in the remote fob system and caused myself and my daughter significant amounts of stress and time to drive to her location to deliver the fob needed to restart the car. Acura claims no problems from their side but I believe this is a significant issue with the system that needs to be addressed. It may be more than just Acuras that have this problem. It was 08/25/13 when this owners/service manual issue occurred.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Honda CR-V

The VIN of the problem Cr-v is 5J6RM4H79E_. I purchased brand new Honda Cr-v 2014 in oct 2013 and with in two weeks I see a tpms light on and I took it to the dealer, asked them car was not even a month old and mileage was around 450 and I got my tpms light on. They said some tire pressure is low and not correct and manually set the tpms light and after a week's time I got the light again -took it to the dealer and they said the same thing and manually reset the tpms and cycle started again - after a week I got that light once more and until now it's been 8 times I have been to dealer and he don't have a genuine reason and keeps telling this is common for all 2014 Cr-v's. I am in dilemma now what should I do with this car. It was Wed., Oct. 30, 2013 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Hyundai Sonata

The vehicle involved is a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Unintentional automatic down shift from drive to first gear when shift lever is firmly in drive position. 2011 Hyundai Sonata limited turbo 2. 0t - vehicle will automatically (on its own) shift gears from "drive" while shift lever is in the "drive" position down to 1st gear typically when driving between 5-10 mph, occasionally sometimes at slightly higher speeds. The only remedy I have found is to tap the shift lever to the left and use the shiftronic shifting to manually shift from first gear back up to drive. Have explained to two separate car dealerships who have merely dismissed it as a possible software glitch, not even allowing me to attempt to reproduce this problem, nor even attempting to test drive it to see if they can observe the unintentional unintended automatic down shift problem from "d" drive to "1st" first gear themselves. The failure date was Thursday, May 26, 2011.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Hyundai Entourage

The vehicle is a 2008 Hyundai Entourage. The VIN of this Entourage is KNDMC233X8_. The problem started out where the power to the rear sliding doors started to stick, make a crunching noise and beep when trying to close. Then the power would not work at all. I switched the doors to manually open and close, which as fine for awhile. Then it started to beep and the door open sign would light on the dash but would still be shut. I would then pull over and close the door and lock it. Then one day with my six year old son and dog in the back it opened wide as I was turning on to a highway. I had to pull over almost causing an accident . We have noticed that the locking mechanism is not latching and now we have to tie the door shut because it will try to open every time I make a right hand turn. The door ajar light and the beeping is constant now. I have seen that there are numerous complaints about this same problem!. It was Thu., Jun. 20, 2013 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Infiniti G35

The car was a 2006 Infiniti G35. The oil burns like crazy it caused my car to lock up being the it happens without warning, having to do oil changes once a month which is insanity. This has been a problem not only in the Infiniti G35 but also the Nissan 350z models. Usually a problem with manual 6spd transmission models. This should be a recall being that no one has been able to fix the problem!. This owners/service manual problem happened on 02/16/12.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Jeep Compass

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1J4NF1FBXB_. At 45000, the throwout bearing went on my Jeep Compass. This will also cause a need for a new clutch plate. I have been reading online, and this is a very common problem, for a lot of Jeeps with manual transmissions. It was May. 1, 2014 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Jeep Wrangler

The vehicle was a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle is a manual transmission. The vehicle randormly keeps popping out of gear and goes on neutral when driving on 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear. When that happens, the vehicle cannot be accelarated and come to almonst a complete stop. Obviously this situation poses a serious danger that can result to accidents and possible lose of lives. Despite numerous attempts, Chrysler fails to resolved the problem. Yet, ironically, although many owners of Jeep Wrangler 2007 - 2011 with manual transmiossion have reported the problem to Chrysler, the have not put any recall for that very alarming defect. The failure date was Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Kia Motor Sorento

The car involved was a 2011 Kia Motor Sorento. The VIN of this vehicle was 5XYKUDA2XB_. I have been experiencing multiple issues with my 2011 Sorento not starting at all or only starting with the fob in the charger since December 2013. More recently I have had issues where the vehicle won't lock or it locks and then won't unlock until I am able to open the rear hatch manually and then the fob will unlock the other doors. Yesterday I was at a gas station and my fuel door wouldn't open (no clicking sound or anything) until I started the car with the key fob in the charger and then I was able to open the fuel door while it was running. When the vehicle won't start with the fob in the charger, I have either had to use the "unofficial" start method with my foot off the brake and holding in the start button for 15 seconds or if that doesn't work I have had to jump start the battery. My local kia dealership told me that I needed to replace the car battery but I really don't feel that is the issue because there are some days that this doesn't happen at all. I am scared that at some point I will be locked out of the vehicle with my children inside or that I will be stranded somewhere because of this issue. At this point I have only one working fob - I took my car in to the dealer and explained that one of the fobs wasn't working but they told me (after working on all of the recalls for 7+ hours) that the fob was fine. So, I don't even have a backup key. The failure date was Thursday, May 22, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Kia Motor Optima

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Kia Motor Optima. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is KNAGD12644_. The driver's door will not unlock or open from the inside or outside. I have tried using the key, the electric locks from the inside and also manually. After researching this defect on the internet, it seems this happens a lot to kia's around this year of car. This is a safety hazard as the driver is not able to get out of or into the car if there is an emergency. A door lock of this year of car should not fail this often or at all. I have much older vehicles that have never had a problem with not being able to get out of a vehicle. It was Mar. 20, 2014 when this owners/service manual issue occurred.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Lexus RX350

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Lexus Rx350. Nav system manual entry is disabled when car is in motion. Forces user to use voice commands. Voice recognition is poor - has difficulty in recognizing words such as montreal, ottawa. Street names have to be exactly for example avenue main, if main is said it will never find it. Does not have the option of selecting intersection when driving. All this make the nav system a safety hazard. Driver becomes distracted trying to get the entry into the system. Slows down, drifts in lane. This is more dangerous than allowing the driver to enter data manually. There is an after market over-ride available - which the service manager says, if installed will not void warranty. But from a safety perspective, Lexus should offer a usable system or refund users their monies and disable a dangerous feature. This problem occurred on Thu., Jan. 7, 2010.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The car involved was a 2012 Mazda Mazda3. Hello, I was driving down a highway going about 30-40 mph in the passing lane. I went to accelerate past a truck when I noticed I wasn't gaining any speed. I looked down and the abs light was on. Thinking that I might be in a lower gear and my auto transmission wasn't shifting well I changed it over to manual. There were no gear lights indicated on the dash. I could not get any power to the transmission from the engine. I have to pull over on the side of the road, while still kind of on the road considering I had no power. In a desperate attempt I turned the car off and back on and everything seemed to be reset. I called Mazda today and they seemed almost like it was no big deal. Well I consider this a big deal, losing transmission power on a highway is a big deal. Anyways I saw a post a few days ago with the same exact issue. This should not happen!. This problem occurred on Mar. 7, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The vehicle was a 2012 Mazda Mazda3. I was stopped at a red light. Once light turned green, I pressed on the gas and the car revved to 3000 rpm but was barely moving and would not shift out of first gear. I looked at my speed and noticed the tcs problem light was on. By this time other motorists were honking at me at cursing I'm sure but I couldn't get any speed to pull over quickly. I put the car in manual mode, but there were no numbers that indicated what gear I was in. I have no clue why the tcs light came on and pretty much disabled my car. I was able to pull over into a mall parking lot where I turned car off and called for help. However, when help arrived, and we started the car back up, the tcs light was off and everything worked fine. I drove the car home. After reading that others have had the same complaint as I have, I will make sure Mazda will have a look at my car and make them aware there is an issue. This owners/service manual problem happened on Tue., Sep. 17, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mercedes Benz CLK430

The vehicle is a 2000 Mercedes Benz Clk430. We just purchased a 2002 Mercedes Benz clk 430. For barely two weeks and can't drive it. We are having major issue with the trunk to open because our battery is totally dead. We cannot jump cable the car because the batery is in the trunk and the trunk will not even open with the manual key that it comes with. I have called Mercedes Benz and do exactly what I was ask to do but still didnt work. I went on you tube, google, and search the internet for answers but nothing. A lot of people are having the same issue with their clk's convertible. It seems like this is a manufacturer and a defective merchandise. This is a big disappointment from the maker and that was unexpected. This issue happened on Mar. 10, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mercedes Benz E350

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Mercedes Benz E350. I was driving my vehicle when suddenly the vehicle began to stop and the transmission appeared to be frozen. As I put my foot on the accerator the car would increase speed then it would again slow down. When I pulled over I was able to switch off the ignition and restart the engine and resume driving. Once I got to my destination I was able to put the car in reverse with no problem. When I got ready to travel back home I began to experience the same problem. However, I was now able to only drive the car using manual shift or drive in 1st or 2nd gear at 20 to 30 mph. I had the car evaluated by mercedes in atlanta and was told there was some problem with some type of transmission pump and that I will need a new transmission. My car has been maintained by mercedes since I purchased this vehicle. I have never had any trouble with previous cars that I have driven for 10 plus years. Please investigate this matter for I was told this is not unusual for this vehicle. A new transmission will cost me $6500. I can buy another car for that price. I did have an extended warranty but it has now expired. This owners/service manual problem happened on Sun., Sep. 15, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mercury Mariner

The vehicle is a 2011 Mercury Mariner. I was driving along with a full car of soccer players and lost momentum. Had to navigate to the side of road . . The vehicle threw an orange wrench light which is my manual said it was a power train problem. I was happy to be safe and ok with the fact that it would be covered on power train(my assumption). Later found out it was the throttle body and because I am outside mileage warranty on bumper to bumper (but inside the years) it is going to cost me $485. 20. I am animate and will get this reimbursed by Ford motor company. This issue happened on Aug. 10, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mercury Milan

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Mercury Milan. Multiple times & variations, but always w/the same result. At any given moment, wrench light would come on & vehicle would lose all acceleration ability while it surged/idled very roughly. Each time, I pulled vehicle off road to the best of my ability, put it in park (would then idle rough, but surge less). Turned vehicle off, waited 5-10min, restarted & vehicle would function close to normally (minimal small surges while driving). While veh was malfunctioning, I could hold gasoline pedal to the floor w/no response. Could not manually shift (I have an automatic shiftable) past 2nd gear & veh would not progress forward - except if the engine surged. This problem happened more, with less time between failings as the day progressed until I could finally get to a populated area/small town. It is also worth mentioning, both mechanics that checked my vehicle for me could not find any "history" in my codes. However, the first Ford dealership was able to do a special check that found a "throttle body failure". They cleaned the throttle body (parts are back ordered till 9/24/13) & sent me on my way hoping that would fix the problem. It did not, so I stopped at the very next town after it happened again & left my Mercury Milan with a Ford dealership. Each time this happened it was really quite scary as traffic around me had no idea I was about to have catastrophic failure. Thankfully all drivers involved were quick enough to avoid rear ending me. This owners/service manual problem happened on Fri., Jul. 19, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The vehicle involved was a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The car just stopped moving in the middle of a highway and their was no wierd sounds to forwarn me of anything! this happened in January 2001 and the dealer said it was the clutch. The dealer was rude/mean, but then I called Mitsubishi motors and they told the dealer to change the clutch. Here it is 22 months later, 10/2002, and the clutch is going out again the dealer is telling me. The dealers service women told me I must be a bad driver, and I told her I've drove sticks for 23 years and never had to replace a clutch before, let alone 2 clutches! something is wrong with this car! 2nd problem they said and my title shows the car to be a 1998, yet the original sticker on the body around the door says manufactured in the USA in 1997. Dt. This problem occurred on Oct. 25, 2002.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Nissan Murano

The vehicle was a 2010 Nissan Murano. The driver's side power door lock stopped working at about 60,000 miles. I took it to dealership, said it was actuator. It was a very expensive repair so I chose to manually lock and unlock that door. A month or so later, one of the back door locks stopped working and the front passenger lock soon followed. By 75,000 miles, none of the doors would respond to the power lock buttons or the remote. The back door locks are nearly impossible to reach from the driver's seat, so either the doors stay unlocked all of the time risking my family to intruders or they stay locked all the time requiring me to get out of the car and go around to the passenger side to reach in and unlock the back door so that my child can get in the back seat. I contacted Nissan because obviously it is some kind of design flaw if all four have gone bad but they refused any financial assistance on the repair and refused to give information of any other complaints on this same issue. This is obviously not a crash risk so maybe this isn't the proper forum to voice this complaint; however it is a safety issue for the passengers. Having to get out of the car to unlock a door when picking someone up is a danger as is being unable to lock all the doors from the driver's seat in case of unwanted attention from someone outside the car. I have researched this and there are numerous similar complaints on different internet sites going back several years so Nissan has known about the issue but hasn't done anything that was effective to solve the problem. Please feel free to remove this if you do not agree that it is a safety issue. It was Aug. 1, 2013 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Nissan Frontier

The vehicle was a 2005 Nissan Frontier. VIN of the vehicle was 1N6ADO7U25_. At the approximate speed of 5 to 8 mph, and accelerating, the "service engine soon" signal light up. Immediately I had to turn 5000 rpms to reach a speed of 20 mph. I drove the vehicle approximately 5 miles to home and parked it their. Contacted my mechanic and took the vehicle to his garage the next morning for a total of 8 miles in addition to the 5 for a total of 13 miles driven while in warning. Upon completion of a diagnostics check, it was discovered that there had been a transmission radiator valve failure. This valve fails to operate, and does not allow coolant and lubrication of the transmission to continue. The valve is connected to the transmission radiator, located within the confines of the cooling radiator. The radiator was replaced, and upon test drive it was discovered that the transmission was deficient or had burned up 3rd and 4th gears. The totality of the repairs to include replacement of a transmission, radiator, fluids and labor was in excess of $4,000. 00. A vehicle with less than 130,000 miles of highway use, with all maintenance performed as prescribed within the owners manual, service recommendations should not have failed. A single valve is/ was the responsible culprit. I have previously owned a Ford ranger, took care of it as I have the Frontier, and had in excess of 200,000 miles on the ranger upon trading it in. I never replaced a transmission in my life on any vehicle. Nissan needs to acknowledge the issue at hand and take the appropriate corrective action, respect the customers that have respected you over the years. This issue happened on Apr. 3, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle involved was a 2007 Saturn Vue. I purchased this vehicle new and within a year my key would get stuck in the ignition to the point where I could not turn the key at all to either turn on or off the vehicle or to get the key out of the ignition. The first time it happened, I believe I had my own mechanic fix it. Then the next times it started happening, it would happen intermittently. I was working with individuals who are disabled and taking them out into the community using my own car. On an extremely hot day(in the 90s) my key got stuck in the ignition (all I did was put the key in normally to start the car) and the individual I had in the car refused to get out of the car (which posed a serious safety hazard to that individual because inside the car at that point I am sure was over 100 degrees). I finally convinced the individual to get out of the car after about a half hour. After I called a tow truck to tow my car I called gm to file a complaint because this is not a normal issue. Gm fixed the issue and told me it was my key (which I had another key made to hope to solve this issue) a good description of the issue is I would I put the key in normally, it would partially turn, and then stop and I cannot move the key at all, even to get the key out of the ignition. The owners manual states to turn the wheel all the way to the right or left to "unlock" the ignition. This would not do anything at all. Sometimes if I let the car sit for a while and go back to it, it would just work. Other times, it didn't matter how many times I tried to get it to work, it would not. Even the tow truck drivers could not get it to work. Also, my air bag light comes on intermittently. I have never had the air bag light issue looked at, but with the reports on the news I thought could be an issue too. The failure date was 07/19/2012.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Saturn VUE

The car involved was a 2004 Saturn Vue. My car is having transmission problems again wont kick into drive until car has been running atleast 30 min then whe I was driving on the highway about 40 is what I got to the car just stopped excelerating and and was coming to a stop which could have caused a big accident if it would have been during high traffic times and when driving in town I come to a full stop and the car wont kick into drive again until I put it in low and move up manually. Then it is havind a serious problem with the axel or something I was driving at 35 hit a small bump in the road and the car reared off to the right and I had no control of the steering for a few seconds and then it was like it locked back in when I started moving the steering wheel side to side and the t/c light is always on now and I was told there is a switch to turn it on or off and that could have something to do with the steering problem but I have found no such switch. Please help me and tell me what I can do about these issues as gm will not do anything they should recall this yrs model completely and pay the owners for a new vehicle since this is there fault. It was Jan. 13, 2014 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Subaru Outback

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Subaru Outback. VIN of the vehicle was 4S4BP61C66_. I was parked in a shopping mall parking lot. When I started the engine and pulled out of the parking space the gas pedal was unresponsive. I just rolled along with no power. The check engine light came on and I rolled into another parking space. I read in the owner's manual that it could be an emission control problem or something to do with the gas cap. I took the gas cap off and re-seated it and when I tried to start the car again on the third try, the check engine light went off and the car had power again and the gas pedal was responsive. I took it to my mechanic and he found the code to be p3128. I was fortunate that this did not happen while I was on the highway or anywhere in busy traffic. I had the entire throttle/pedal assembly replaced at a cost of aprox. $500 and hope that this solves the problem. The failure date was Sunday, April 6, 2014.

Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 4S4BRBFC6A_. New model 2010 Subaru Outback roof rack. The manual states it is unsafe to tie a load directly to the roof rack as it may result in loss of load if this is true -not every one will be aware of this and there will be loads lost. More serious - it states on pg 8-15 "do not use the roof rails when the bars are restored". In the restored position these bars look like most roof racks. They will be used to carry loads. One end of each bar is only in a plastic hole with no strength there is no doubt people will be unaware and loads will be lost on the hwy. car   Owners/service Manual problem of Toyota Camry

The vehicle involved was a 2008 Toyota Camry. Crash was involved with this problem. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Toyota Camry is 4T1BK46K28_. When pulling into a gravel parking space at less than 5mph. Car suddenly accelerated full throttle, jumped a concrete parking stop, became partially airborne on the right side , coming down in a depression after 25 ft. Brake was fully depressed through event. Visual inspection and manual check after incident showed nothing impeding either gas pedal or brake. Mats firmly attached. We have photos of the acceleration tracks and the ditch where it landed. Damage to fascia, bumper, air dam. Alignment, possible tire damage. Est. $800 - $1200. Our complaint is car sat at dealer for 2 months deemed unsafe to drive. The outcome was that nothing was recorded on the black box and vehicle passed inspections on a lift. Therefore even though this was an unintended acceleration issue Toyota will do nothing. Recommendation from both consumer reports and edmunds is a brake override should be installed. When this was mentioned they said no the car doesn't need it. One of our complaints is Toyota motor sales u. S. A. Took 2 months to resolve this. They didn't return phone calls or notify the dealer of any results. Dealer stated Toyota wouldn't let them work on the car and it was listed unsafe to drive. During this 2 months we had to rent a car out of pocket (insurance payed 2 weeks). Over $1000. Both my wife and I feel very lucky this incident didn't happen on a busy highway or next to a solid wall. If it had there was a good chance we could have been injured and the damage much worse. Dealing with both the dealer and Toyota u. S. A. Was frustrating and pointless. We have picked up the car and are considering trading it in but are shocked to find in 2 years it has deprecated by $8000! this has been a complete nightmare and a monetary loss as well. To at least get the brake override would be some satisfaction. Thank you jfz. This issue happened on Mar. 9, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Volkswagen GTI

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Volkswagen Gti. The VIN of the car is WVWFV71K56_. Car started to exhibit intermittent abs faults which was indicated by dash mil and the following fault codes: transmission module 18255 - please check dtc memory of abs controller abs brakes 00290 - abs wheel speed sensor; rear left (g46) 012 - electrical fault in circuit - intermittent 00290 - abs wheel speed sensor; rear left (g46) 008 - implausible signal - intermittent with the codes present both abs and electronic stability control are disabled. The safety complaint however is that the automatic transmission control is periodically locked out. When at speed (60+ mph) the automatic transmission will shift into neutral. Manual gear select will not put the car back into a drive gear. Dash gear indicator will indicate 6th gear. At lower speeds (~25 mph) the transmission will periodically lock in second gear and will not shift to a higher gear. Manual gear selection also fails. Problem sometimes will not clear despite restarting the car multiple times. There are no indications of an actual transmission problem. The cause seems to be software override of the transmission due to incorrect abs module data. (transmission software seems to think the car is in a skid and is holding gear). So far the abs module, wheel speed sensor, and tone ring have been replaced. Condition is still present. When the transmission problem is present shift lock also does not work. The dealer is currently in the process of replacing the wiring harnesses. This issue happened on Dec. 13, 2013.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Volvo XC90

The car involved was a 2005 Volvo Xc90. : the contact stated the towing capacity listed in the owner's manual conflicts with a brochure provided by the dealer. The brochure made no mention of third row seating having an impact on towing capacity while the owner's manual indicated the third row seating reduced towing capacity. While towing a snowmobile traveling 30mph the vehicle experienced a loss of power, the rear of the vehicle dropped down and the front wheels lost traction. The vehicle was inspected by a regional representative from the manufacturer who was unable to determine there was a problem. It was 08/17/05 when this owners/service manual issue happened.

In addition, the entire electrical system became inoperative intermittently. The relay switch, internal rem and yaw modules were replaced at different times. While driving the engine would completely shut off when the contacts knee was close to the ignition key. The failure continued after the vehicle was repaired. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WAUEA88D7T_. Service manual for 96 and 97 Audi A4 do not indicate the need for replacement of the timing belt at 90,000 miles. Manufacturer admits the failure but refuses to update manuals for owners. This car has an interference engine which will cause several thousands of dollars of damage to the engine if the timing belt fails. I feel that the manufacturer should recall the service manuals and inform owners of the potential costly and dangerous conditions if the timing belt fails. The 98 and newer manuals indicate the timing belt need, but the 96 and 97 make no mention. I contacted Audi in 3/99 but they refused to update the manuals.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of BMW 328

The vehicle involved is a 2008 BMW 328xi. The potential safety hazard reported in this complaint takes place when the passengers cannot exit the car by opening the doors, getting trapped inside the car. It will worsen to a critical level when this failure happens with passengers with limited mobility inside the car or in case there is a baby sitting in a child seat installed in the rear seat. When the described failure mode happens, all passengers will need to exit the vehicle through the sun roof (if available) or through the windows. In case of fire this could be a lethal safety hazard for all passengers. And in case of voluminous persons sitting in seats others than the driver's seat, it will be very difficult for them to exit the vehicle. How the failure happened: after driving for aprox. 10 minutes and having parked, the doors of the car did not unlock. They did not unlock either using the fob, neither the door handle of the driver's door nor the unlock button in the central dashboard. The only way to get out of the vehicle was through the sun roof or climbing out the window. After several attempts the driver's door finally unlock and could be opened. Once outside the car, I could lock and unlock the driver's door (but not any other door) manually with the metal key inside the fob. The other passenger had to exit the car through the driver's door. I have been to a BMW dealership and I made an appointment to repair it. The root cause of the issue seems to be a blown fuse due to over current in one of the actuators of one of the doors. The effect is that the passengers cannot come out of the car as there is not any manual mechanism to unlock. There is other complaints in NHTSA about the same issue (for example NHTSA id number: 10459121). I recommend that NHTSA conducts a safety investigation about this potential safety risk on this or any other affected model. It was May 3, 2014 when this owners/service manual issue occurred.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 BMW 325i. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this BMW 325i is WBAVB17596_. The doors on my car are locked and will not open. I called BMW and was advised that this is a common issue but not considered a safety issue. Once the doors are locked they cannot be unlocked regardless if you are in or out of the car - there is no manual way to open them. So essentially because of the issue if you were in the car you would be stuck. I was also told that this has happened to 1000s of BMW's and its a known issue but BMW wont recall. How can being stuck in a vehicle with no way to exit not be considered a safety concern?. This problem occurred on Monday, Apr. 14, 2014.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Buick Enclave

The vehicle involved is a 2008 Buick Enclave. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 5GAER23788_. A water leak caused by a backup in the drain tubes of my wife's 2008 Enclave evidently caused an apparent computer system incident whereby I was locked in the vehicle and could not get out. The key was stuck in ignition (and could not be removed) and manual door locks would not unlock vehicle because there was some kind of safety interlock. Evidently there was a short in the electrical system which disabled all methods of exiting or starting vehicle. For some reason the onstar system worked, but onstar had no clue as to how to assist or override the interlock feature. It was winter time, and my wife and our dog were also stranded in very cold weather outside the vehicle. Luckily we were assisted by a stranger that used his jumper cables to get the car started. I am concerned that this could happen if the car were submerged or the computer system was somehow compromised it could cause a similar problem. Filed problem with Buick customer relationship via email but all they wanted to do was to replace the battery. As of this date (4/4/14) we still have the original battery, but they deny any knowledge of the problem. I have emails from Buick and their service request number if you would like to verify my claim. I only recently became aware that I could file a complaint with NHTSA in this manner. This issue happened on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.

car   Owners/service Manual problem of Buick Lucerne

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Buick Lucerne. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1G4HD57276_. The rear passenger doors of the car do not open. The automatic door locks have failed to work. The mechanism design has failed because the manual door lock releases do not work. It is impossible to exit (or enter) the car from the backseat. The rear doors on both sides of the car do not open. There has been no accident and there has never been any prior damage. Since more than two people often ride in this vehicle, this is an extreme safety hazard because it is impossible to access the back seat of the car (especially in an emergency) unless reaching over the front seat from inside the car.
