The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 Chrysler 300. The new 300's are having a problem with the emergency brake. The pedal to set the emergency brake sits too close to the door opening. While driving or parked if you touch, brush or nudge the emergency brake pedal at all it sets the sensor as if the brake has been set. The manufactorer has not been able to fix this problem as of yet, the dealer stated that this is a design flaw that there is no way to adjust the brake and that the sensor is very touchy. At this point my vehicle has been in for repair 3 times. They can not be sure if the vehicle will react in anyway while driving and this happens since the sensor is telling the brain that the brake is set. This parking brake indicator light problem happened on 01/11/05.

The VIN of this vehicle is 2FMZA514X3_. I would like to request an investigation on my 2003 Ford Windstar van. My abs and emergency brake light randomly come on, for no apparent reason. I can sit and let my car idle, and the light will come on. This has happened since I bought it, and since I bought the car used, the dealership (Ford dealership) won't repair it for me. Can you look into this for me, and see if they will do a recall of the problem. Thanks! the dealership told me if the light is on, then I will not have antilock brakes. This was a feature that made me buy the vehicle. Please help me. This problem occurred on 09/15/2007.

The automatic transmissions in 1997 Honda Preludes are weak and fail easy. The reason is cheap parts and metals in the transmissions themselves. The 97 Preludes were recalled in turkey, and replaced with a new m6ha unit. Mine is constantly slipping and tearing up. I'm looking at a constant problem that costs a lot of money. I bought this car for its quality and prestige in the Honda world, but due to the lack of quality and workmanship in the automatic transmissions, my opinion of Preludes has drastically dropped. I would not care if I had an automatic or a manual, I just want a car that works like the Honda company lacked to make it. Thank you. This parking brake indicator light problem happened on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005.

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Jeep Laredo. I bought my wife a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee, and it has shut off while she was driving, putting her in a very dangerous situation, with no "check engine" light. . . Nothing, low coolant light came on when there is coolant already in the car, check gauges light keep coming on, heater doesn't heat well, the passenger side power door lock does not work, I've replaced the thermostat and the water pump once. And I've had an issue with the vehicle overheating and the fan not coming on and had it replaced. I do believe there is something wrong with the Jeep cherokee especially the 2000 model and think it should be recalled. I looked on the internet for blogs to see if anyone else was having the same problems and found there were well over 100 people on one website with the same exact problems. I think this is a dangerous situation for those that own this vehicle and I am asking you to please recall this vehicle before it causes serious accidents or even death. Please don't ignore this complaint, and I hope to hear from you soon concerning this matter. You should not even have "number of deaths" listed, but if you be honest and take care of the problems, there would not be any deaths. This problem occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.

The vehicle is a 1998 Mazda B2500. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Mazda B2500 is 4F4YR12C5W_. The emergency brake lines are crossed ahead of the rear drivers tire. There is a lot of pressure on these lines and they are rubbing together causing a great deal of wear. I have noticed the same problem on other Mazda b series and Ford ranger pickups. I have placed a piece of rubber between the lines to prevent further damage. I believe that the emergency lines on the Mazda and Ford ranger pickups should be recalled before they fail and cause injuries.

The car is a 2001 Mercury Sable. Emergency brake dashboard warning light failure. The dashboard brake warning light is not turning on when the emergency brake is applied. The dashboard light does test ok when the car is started. Because I was unaware the emergency brake was on I traveled 10 miles home on the freeway. Near my house the brakes failed, with the pedal going to the floor. I quickly pumped the brakes and was able to stop. There was a burning smell as well, which I assume was the pads, so I will mark the fire question as yes since "where there's smoke there's fire. " brake function returned the next day but the pedal is now soft. It was Thursday, December 21, 2006 when this parking brake indicator light issue occurred.

The VIN of this vehicle was 5TDZT38A33_. Vsc/abs skid control ecu failure. The dealership is saying that my 2003 Toyota Sequoia limited 2 wd 53,500 miles needs a new abs computer at a cost of $3,600. Approximately 2 years ago I had the exact same thing happen, the car actually froze up and the dealership had it towed to their location to fix it, they said it was the third member and replaced that. Now the same thing is happening and they won't do anything. This parking brake indicator light problem happened on 09/25/2007.

The car is a 1999 Volkswagen Passat. I own a 1999 vw Passat with anti-lock brakes. Many Audi and vw models manufactured starting in the later '90s and continuing to present (including mine), use the bosch 5. 3 abs controller, which is prone to catastrophic failure, ostensibly due to defective design. This module controls multiple brake-related functions including the abs which is important for winter driving, but the most critical function of this module is probably the electronic brake force distribution, or ebd. These vehicles are designed such that if the ebd is inoperative, the proportion of hydraulic force applied to the rear brakes during emergency braking is as great as it is during moderate braking effort when there is minimal transfer of vehicle weight to the front wheels. The ebd is supposed to adjust the front/rear braking distribution dynamically according to the measure of the deceleration, so that the rear wheels will not lock up during emergency braking. If this module should fail during emergency braking on dry pavement, the rear wheels could lock up and cause an accident which could easily include fatalities. This is an expensive repair for owners, costing roughly $2000, and many owners have probably put off the repair indefinitely. The vw company has provided absolutely no assistance in helping owners despite knowing of hundreds if not thousands of these types of failures as early as 30k miles. Services that charge ~$300. 00 to rebuild the failed abs module are unreliable and cause drivers to work on their cars with no mechanical sense because of their desperation. Evidence which can be found through a simple web search, suggests that the problem is widespread, and that if it has not already led to serious accidents, it is only a question of time. This problem is genuine, and vw/Audi should be compelled to take immediate corrective action. This issue happened on Friday, Mar. 11, 2005.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Volkswagen New Beetle. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 3VWCS21C81_. My abs dash indicator came on steady, the brake indicator on the dash started flashing and what sounded like the interior chime started sounding continuously. I pulled over into a parking lot and turned off the engine. A puff of smoke/steam came up from the passenger front wheelwell and there was a horrible hiss and whine coming from under the hood on the same side and a burning plastic smell. The dealer said it was the abs module (which they changed for $950!!!) and that only fixed the abs light. No clue on the flashing brake idiot light and now they say the ac does not work at all. No refrigerant, so obviously a leak. It seems way too coincidental. I heard about an abs module recall back in '03 which could short circuit and cause an engine fire. I don't have any idea about the engine compartment geography and I've only had the car (bought used) for about a year and a half. It appears I am not the only person to have experienced this problem. This problem occurred on Apr. 26, 2005.. Read more...
