Speed Control Springs problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Speed Control Springs problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The car involved was a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. I started to encounter the following errors on my 2011 chevy Tahoe; service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced during the winter months of 2012-2013. I could be simply doing the task of warming the vehicle up in the morning, driving on a paved road going 35mph, or full blown in the middle of freeway/highway traffic. The vehicle will violently start to idle with the warning indicators mentioned above, I then have to somehow pull over in the middle of traffic because I'm unable to get any power due to the engine power reduction. Shut the vehicle completely off and patiently wait until it decides to reset. This could happen once a day to multiple times a day. It could happen immediately one after another or at any given time. The service engine indicator will stay on for about a day before it goes away. Leaving you with the impression the vehicle is fine. Well it¿s not until it happens again and again. I was about to take my vehicle in right before it was turning spring weather was warming, (not sure if this had anything to do with the issue) but surprisingly it stopped. All spring and summer I had not one issue until now! January 8th 2014 and the weather is cold. This seems after reading on a few blogs on the web, numerous gm owners are having the same issue. They take the vehicle in to have serviced and the service fails. It sounds more like a faulty product which is unsafe having the engine power reduced with no ability to get out of traffic in the middle of the freeway. It was 03/01/12 when this speed control springs issue happened.

The car was a 2001 Chrysler Lhs. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2C3HC56G01_. The clockspring on this model is defective and needs to be replaced. After trying to order the part for repairs from numerous distributors and dealers, it was determined that Chrysler has not released an order to make and distribute the part! this is going on over 2 years for our vehicle and possibly longer for other owners of the same model. This part is vital to the safety of the driver, it's passengers and the operation of the vehicle, because it controls the airbag, turn signals and horn!!! the vehicle is unsafe in this condition and posses a possible risk to the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. Chrysler will not give us any information as to when they will release this part!. It was Oct. 29, 2012 when this speed control springs issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Chrysler Sebring is 1C3LC46K97_. This is a recall item for models right around the same time as my Sebring was built, I have called chry but they will not take responsibility. The air bag light stays on!! my air bag clock spring failed and my air bag warning light illuminated. I'm told by the dealer that my air bag will now not work, and my cruise control & steering wheel horn . This is a serious safety issue & I need to get it repaired quickly but at a cost of over $220, I can not afford . This should be paid for by daimler Chrysler!. It was Mon., Sep. 2, 2013 when this speed control springs issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I understand that there was a recall of defective clocksprings that disabled airbags in certain Dodge products (safety recall 982)(NHTSA identification number 01v-153). The recall included vehicles in the VIN last 8 digits ws501493 to ws771681. My 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 has a last eight digits of [xxx]. Thus, it does fall within the range of recalled VIN numbers. However, for some reason my truck is not described as one of those recalled. However, I have an airbag light that is on and the steering wheel mounted cruise control does not work it seems to me that both of these are indications of a defective clockspring just as on the recalled vehicles. I would like to know why I have not received a recall notice and why my vehicle make model and year is not described as recalled even though the last eight VIN digits falls within the range of those recalled for this defect. Can the recall of this be studied further and expanded to include my vehicle? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This problem occurred on 01/10/2014.

The vehicle is a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3D7KR28C05_. Shortly after speeding up a car in front of me hit their brakes. When I attempted to slow down it seemed that the accelerator pedal did not return to neutral and it was very hard to stop. After troubleshooting, I found out that the accelerator pedal was sticking and not returning to neutral after being depressed. Sometimes it would slowly return to neutral, other times it would stay depressed. There is no external interference with the pedal (I. E. Floor mat), and only the pedal linkage is at fault. If I pushed the pedal a large distance then it would normally spring back all the to neutral. When I checked closely, it appears that the accelerator pedal position sensor (apps) is what is causing the binding. This truck is throttle-by-wire so no mechanical cable is involved. The apps in this model truck is part of the accelerator pedal mechanism and the hinge point for the pedal is in the apps. This speed control springs issue occurred Sat., Dec. 21, 2013.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 Ford Taurus. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1FAFP53215_. My accelerator pedal starting sticking and has continued to do so for over a week, now. My cruise control also stopped working at the same time. If I tap the accelerator pedal, it will usually return to normal. The cruise control will work intermittently, but is inoperative more than it is operative. I can live without the cruise control, but the sticking accelerator pedal is dangerous. Also, sometimes when I set the cruise control, I can feel the accelerator pedal accept the speed, but then it will almost immediately disconnect and the accelerator pedal will spring back to its normal position. I've read that other Ford Tauruses have had what appears to be the same exact problem. Ford really should issue a safety recall to fix this issue. This speed control springs problem happened on Jan. 26, 2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2007 Ford Fusion. While l was driving on wet pavement with the speed control engaged and set to 35 mph, I rounded the top of a hill and the vehicle began to speed up as usual. I applied the brakes lightly to maintain 35 mph and the speed control failed to disengage and spun the left front tire until black smoke was rolling out from under the fender. It lasted a few seconds before it released. I had a Ford dealer check the brakes to see if the left front caliper had a problem and they did not find a problem. They also had no solution for the speed control failing to disengage. Note: the daytime phone is useless since I am assigned to another building at work away from the phone on my desk. Updated 01/28/lj I contacted Ford once again after the third throttle problem. The third time involved the speed control burning rubber on a wet road after I applied the brakes to maintain speed going down hill with the speed control set for 35. Their response was to ignore the problem as usual. They didn't do anything for any of my complaints even when the car was under warranty. The dealer would not ever replace a broken plastic door handle in the inside until it broke off completely. After they replace it with another plastic handle the spring cut through the plastic again, but I realized that the piece of plastic the broke off was still in the recessed area for the handle and would have caused it to break off completely again if I had not removed it. The chrome also pealed off and cut my fingers again so I scraped it off the top of the handle. They still haven't changed the design of that. For over $21,000 that I paid for the car, they could have at least made one out of aluminum. It was Sunday, October 20, 2013 when this speed control springs issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 1997 GMC Jimmy. I was driving on ga400 hwy in atlanta, georgia when my car suddenly got faster and faster as if I were pushing the gas pedal to the floor. The faster the speed, my brakes would not stop me. When I mashed the brakes, they would not go down because the engine was wide open at this point. I was able to get into the right lane and keep it under control until I could get off at an exit. I obviously could not pull over on the hwy because it would not stop. I was putting all of my weight on the brakes to keep from flipping as I made the slight turn to the right to exit. Other cars got out of my way as I swerved through traffic. I finally pulled into a pizza hut restaurant and rammed into a parking speed hump as I was pushing in the emergency brake, and standing on the regular brake. The speed hump stopped me. The car was taken to newton Chevrolet in chattanooga for repair. A piece of the throttle body actually broke off and went into the manifold. The piece worked its way down into the head and messed up the valves. I called gm customer assistance after I got the repair bill for $1900. 00. I was told that gm would not take responsibility for the throttle bottle breaking apart, that there were no bodily or property damages. The week of the incident was spring break for the atlanta school system so the traffic was lighter than usual. If not for this, I am sure I would have caused a major car pile up because of the bumper to bumper traffic in atlanta. I guess at least that would have stopped the car. I told the rep. From gm that I was not satisfied with his answer and wanted to speak to someone higher in authority. He told me that he was the end of the line and that the decision was made and would not be reversed. I was told to have a nice day. . . I have seen several other complaints on the internet with Jimmy throttle problems, but none as severe as mine. This speed control springs issue occurred Apr. 4, 2001.

The vehicle involved was a 2008 Honda Civic. Crash was involved with this problem. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was JHMFA36208_. I was parking in a high school parking lot. I "rolled" into the space and when I applied the brakes the engine "accelerated". I went over the cement block at the front of the space and through a chainlink fence and onto the sidewalk. Usually, that walkway is filled with children. I initially thought the floormat got caught up under the gas pedal. I took pictures immediately and it did appear that exaccerbated the problem. Bell Honda in phoenix said "they could not repeat the problem" and dismssed me. It has since happened to my daughter and husband. Fortunately they both applied the emergency brake. After the last time, we took the car to superstition springs Honda. They said "they could not repeat the problem and nothing has come from Honda. " I have read where others have had this problem. I just thank god that so far no one has been killed or that the car didn't surge over a cliff on our trip to yellowstone. This speed control springs issue occurred 06/04/2012.

On the 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes stays on steady with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. The failure date was Mar. 19, 2014.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2007 Kia Motor Sedona. In spring of 2013, our 2007 kia Sedona ex continued to accelerate after letting off of the pedal. This occurred on a hilly, windy road with wife and three children. Car continued to accelerate through the braking efforts. Car was stopped without incident. Dealer test drove (could not replicate the problem) and ran through diagnostics without yielding any codes. They basically stated it must have been the pedal getting stuck on a floor mat. It was the first time we experienced it, so we thought that might be reasonable. However, the same problem happened again with husband twice while driving the car with two kids under similar road conditions. When put in neutral the rpms reached 6-7000 and maintained it until it fell down by itself. The problem continued while on family vacation, this time on flat roads. It did not matter whether I was starting out of a red light, or simply accelerating between speed limit changes. The pedal was not getting stuck on the floor mat. This must have happened 15 or so times on the 6 hr ride home from vacation. Took it to a different dealer when we got home. They seemed to take it more seriously. . . Got the district service manager involved and I even received a case# and phone calls from kia America, corporate in California. I felt pretty good. They even paid for my rental car. Kia had my car for over 2 weeks at the dealer. Then I got another call from them stating that kia was putting pressure on them to put me back in my car because they wanted to end the rental car contract. This dealer said the same thing as the last one. . . No diagnostic codes, could not replicate the problem, and they ran through the checklist of items that kia makes them go through with this unintended acceleration issue. I now have to go test drive it for them. If I cannot replicate the issue, then I have to take it back unfixed. Ugh. Disgusted. . This problem occurred on Aug. 3, 2013.

The VIN of the car is JTHBN36F15_. Two months ago I had a sudden acceleration event in my Lexus Ls430, 2005. I was ina museum parking garage, my wife got out, I needed to reposition to not be 'on the line'. I backed up, pressed the gas very lightly and the car accelerated out of control. I slammed on the brakes and was able to halt it one-two inches from the wall. Initially, I blamed
myself but then thought it might have been my floor mat and removed it. My wife remains terrified to this day. In analyzing the problem, there was a sudden massive acceleration which I did not cause and there is no way the floor mat could have caused such a problem since I barely pressed the accelerator pedal to go a few feet. I think the problem is electronic and am worried that a new spring on the pedal is insufficient. I didn't think complaining would do me any good but now that I understand the problem it is vital for you to know that my model of car Lexus 430 LS is affected as well. The car was a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. Crash was involved with this problem. While driving in a parking lot a car pulled out in front of my 2003 Navigator as I hit the brakes I felt my SUV drop from the front. The tire skidded and I hit the car that was pulling out. After the accident my truck was never the same . It was taken to the dealership but they said the warranty would not cover it. I have a 40000 dollar truck just parked in the driveway for the past 6 months I know mechanics that can convert it to to springs suspension for about 400 dollars but that's not the point I paid top dollar for a piece of you know what. I drive a 2000 Nissan with 170000 miles on it and haven't spend a dime on it besides tires. This speed control springs issue occurred Sunday, February 3, 2008.

The vehicle involved was a 2010 Mercury Milan. VIN of the vehicle was 3MEHM0JA3A_. While commuting to work the engine suddenly lost all power while traveling approx 50mph on rt 9a in ossining NY. Fortunately I was in thr right lane but did not have enough time or momentum to completely pull off the road. A state farm sponsored help truck arrived anf pushed me to the side. At my husband's suggestion he looked to see if leaves had clogged the intake/air filter. It did not . Then he disconnected the hose to the throttle valve and when he pushed it with the screwdriver the engine regained power. I turned around to try and meet my husband at a midway point. The engine shut down again but after restarting, it regained power. I switched cars with my husband and he sprayed the throttle valve with carburetor cleaner and headed home. The car stalled out on him but he was able to roll into a gas/convenience store in garrison NY and sprayed it again. Once home in cold spring he cleaned out the assembly as good as he could and the car worked well for the next 2 weeks. While visiting hungary for a family illness, my son used the car and reported that it began to stall out on him but unstuck? and he was able to return home. The car was brought to freedom Ford in beacon NY this morning for repair since it is not safe to drive in nyc commuter traffic. The failure date was Wed., Oct. 17, 2012.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mercury Sable. Cruise control cable broke or came loose causing throttle return spring to fall off. I could not stop car no matter how hard I pushed the brake pedal. The engine ran at full speed. The cruise control was not on. I was able to quickly put car in neutral and turn off the engine. I started the engine again and it revved up to full speed immediately. It was very difficult to move the car off the main road without starting the engine. We were fortunate there were no cars in front of us when this happened. We were about 50 yards from having to make a sharp left turn to go onto the main highway and traffic. We never would have been able to make the turn without crashing or the car turning over. My wife and I had just picked up two of our dogs at the vet and were returning home. The car was towed to the nearest Ford garage in the next town. I believe Ford has a bigger problem than they are admitting. The Mercury's should be included in their problem. The vehicle involved was a 1993 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was JN1EB31P4P_. I have had many problems that is costing me lots of money now to fix. 5 years ago, my distributer cap cracked, reason unknown. Driven by old lady. Because it cracked, it caused water to be able to seep in, causing the car to stall out. Don't know why it would have cracked. Another problem it has is when I went to use the cruise control, springs flew out of it. I had never used it before. Another problem is the axels, cv joints and steering kit. Everything went out on my car. One lead to the next. I can't realign my car because my steering kit and tie rods are shot along with my axels and cv joints. Because of these problems, I have had to replace my tires twice from them wearing down. I would fix it but when I got it all priced, it was almost $2000. I can't afford that. The failure date was Wednesday, March 12, 2008.

The car is a 2004 Nissan Murano. I don't know the exact date this problem started so I have estimated it below. The car, when thoroughly warmed up (1/2 hour of continuous highway driving) does not respond to the gas pedal when in dead stop and go traffic (like at a toll booth) depresssing the gas pedal a normal amount brings no response from the car, no reving, no motion. Depressing the pedal further causes the car to surge ahead in a fast out of control manner. This does not happen in the winter, spring summer and fall only. The service department is unable to address this problem, they say, because their service computer is not generating any problem codes. It was Apr. 1, 2004 when this speed control springs issue occurred.

I own a 2002 Saturn Vue and before I had it 1 month a sqeal was heard. The dealer replaced both fuel pumps. A few months ago the service engine light came on and it was a fule evap issue. It came on again 2 weeks ago and this time the fuel evap canister was replaced. I am concerned with safety of this vehicle because of the fuel issues. Also in mid December the clutch return spring snapped in half. The air conditioning lines leaked into the vehicle. I believe this car is a lemon!. Vehicle was taken to authorized Saturn dealer, 2003 Saturn Ion had continuous high engine idle after being driven at highway speeds. If vehicle was shut off the power control module(pcm) computer reset it self. Saturn dealer serviced the vehicle by re-programming the pcm( 10/21/10) as per a issued service bulletin of 4/2004 . This did not work. Then they advised a spring in throttle body (engine) was bad and replaced spring ( 10/28/10). This also did not work, engine still has high idle and I bought the vehicle back on 11/2/10 to the service dealer. . Service dealer then hooked up car to computer and has ser tech drive vehicle for over 25 miles, 2 times ; and thenfound another problem. They indicated that the power control module computer had a short and caused a burned out component in the computer. Since the Saturn is no longer being produces, the computer which must be replaced is on back order; and unknown when part will arrive. The Saturn service dealer ( ingersoll auto in danbury CT) advised that the vehicle should not be driven as it was a safety hazard, since the computer controls not only the engine but the abs braking system. At this time unknown when a part will arrive as it is on back order. In searching the internet I found numerous complaints from person who also had problems with the power control module computer. I believe that gm/Saturn has had full knowledge of the problem and should have taken care of this problem prior; and as other owners of Saturns are having this serious problem then gm should be making replacement parts for this computer more available to Saturn owners. Ingersoll auto in danbury CT has advised me that they do notknow when the replacement computer will be available as there is no part available in the entire USA. Part will have to be made by gm and unknown when this will happen. So my 2003 Saturn Ion must be left at the dealer until a replacement computer is sent by gm , so my car can be repaired. "this is graphic evidence of what happens when someone like Subaru 'forgets' to fit a $1 spring clip. The road then dips down and goes into a series of s bends, she left the road doing about 80mph and hit a tree 5 foot up in air from the road's surface. It was a bright sunny day, no precipitation, she was trapped in there for 45 mins and as you can see from the door pillars they tried to cut with their hurst cutters the car survived remarkably. But all the people who have seen this wreck said it was not a survivable accident. The vehicle involved is a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle had a crash. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1NXBR32E17_. I had a previous incident in July, 2010 when the gas pedal felt like it stuck and the car suddenly accelerated. I took the car in to sandy springs Toyota at that time and made a complaint. On January 12, 2013, as I was pulling into my driveway, the same thing happened again and the gas pedal felt like it stuck and the car suddenly accelerated, crashing into my garage and house. The crash caused extensive damage to both the car and the house. This problem occurred on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

The vehicle is a 2009 Toyota Sienna. There was crash involved with this problem. We were backing out of a parking place at the hot springs village walmart. The van accelerated on its own, then the brakes failed. No amount of pressure would stop the van. We stopped by hitting a parked car, doing some damage to it. We had the van towed to a body shop to have the exterior repaired. We were afraid to drive it. After being repaired, we had it towed to lander's in little rock where it was pronounced safe to drive. A few weeks later we sold it and bought a 2011 Toyota Sienna van. (an accident report will follow on the 2011 Toyota van VIN#[xxx]) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). The failure date was 08/11/2011.

The car is a 1999 Volkswagen Passat. While under full throttle, accelerator pedal did not "spring" back after releasing pressure and vehicle continued to accelerate at full throttle until I reached down and pulled accelerator pedal back. First time happened when accelerating from stop light; second time, when merging onto freeway. Both times I was able to free pedal and resume normal driving. Both times I applied the brakes, and this did not help matters, as vehicle continued to accelerate at full throttle. Carpet was not the culprit as it was firmly secured, using factory installed "snaps. " dealer had car all day Monday and was in contact with vw of America. Unable to find anything wrong; everything "normal. " vw claimed to never have heard of this problem before. Still awaiting additional action from vw. I am gravely concerned as dealer told me to drive until problem happens again. This is not an option!! if my wife was driving she would not be able to reach down and release pedal as I did. Only option would be to turn off igition and then she would lose power steering and brakes. This speed control springs problem happened on Sunday, January 31, 1999.

The car is a 1999 Volkswagen Passat. Winter 2008-2009 had several times when car would accelerate on it's own. Brakes did not help. Only way to stop is to apply brakes with both feet and slow down enough to pull over and put in neutral, which makes tac go over 7000 rpm's. Had throttle body cleaned and reset in spring of 2009 but problem recurred again this year. On Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 temperature was in low teens. Warmed car for approx. 7 min. Drove slowly due to bad road conditions and at approx. 3 miles into drive car started accelerating again on its own and no place to pull off. Had to stop in extremely dangerous position and pray I wasn't hit before I could safely start car again. Finally able to restart engine after approx. 5 min. Without revving problem but approx. 2 miles later car again accelerated on it's own. Took to dealer and they did a general diagnosis which showed nothing. This is an extremely dangerous situation and makes me extremely nervous to drive my car. Vw of America states that my car was not in any recall and they are unaware of any problem with my car and could not divulge if they received any other complaints. This speed control springs issue occurred Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.

The VIN of this Xc70 is YV1SZ58DX2_. My wife drove our car a 2002 Volvo Xc70 station wagon from our second home approximately ten miles to san luis obispo calif. For shopping. She parked the car in the parking lot and went into a store. She came back out, started the car and backed out of the parking space. When she put the transmission lever in drive the engine went to full rpm and lurched forward, she applied the brakes which could not hold the high engine speed pulling the car forward. She quickly shut the engine off with the key avoiding a potential accident. The cruise control was not on and there were no objects I. E. , floor mats or other items, near the accelerator pedal. Thank god my wife or no one else was injured or killed. I am a retired fire captain and private fire investigator with 30+ experience. This scared the hell out of us and we do not trust the car. I previously took the car to the dealership and reported the transmission 'clunking' they recommended that I drive it till it failed because of the high costs involved. Now, I am reading reports of coil spring failures and bearing problems. I bought this car specifically for the safety features; now I am very disappointed and extremely concerned. It was Nov. 26, 2011 when this speed control springs issue happened.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Volvo V70. Consumer complaint regarding Volvo electronic throttle defect. Updated 11/7/2005 - while driving the performance reduced light and ses light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the electronic throttle needed to be replaced. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer agree to replaced the throttle free of charge because the vehicle was out of warranty. During inspection the technician found the front control arm and upper spring seat broken. The power steering fluid leaked due to a faulty hose clamp. It was Tuesday, September 20, 2005 when this speed control springs issue occurred.

I have an Audi A6 2. 8 1998
during the winter 2003 I was driving during the morning the car was on for 20 minutes and temp was 14 degrees f. Speed was 65 mph as I approached my exit. I let off gas an car accelerated pushed brake down. Car came to stop but idle was at 1800 rpm and car wanted to lurch forward. Made it to work 1 mile away
brought to mechanic and he found no problem but he did clean the throttle body. No problems , for 3 weeks. Event two: going home 6:30pm temp 15 f speed approx 60 mph going up hill. Car started pulling faster. Decided to pump gas pedal figuring stuck cable just went faster. Decided to see if would stop at specific speed
approached 95 mph realized car would keep going. Stepped on break, pulled to side finally came to stop. Turned car off , waited 30 secs started car. Rpm out of control. Turned off car and waited 5 minutes. Turned car on, no problems. Went back on my way
happened 3 more times that winter. Temp is always between 14-17 f
car is always warmed up. No problem during spring, summer, or fall
year 2004. Moved closer to work, car ride never longer than 10 minutes. One time car on hill doing 65 mph speeded up pulled over turned car off
waited 6 minutes (timed) turned on car no problem
from my results
car problem always occurs when
temp 13-17 f
car is warmed up
if problem occurs
pull to side of road
car is stopped but rpm 1800+
turn car off
wait 5+ minutes
no problems. It was Feb. 1, 2004 when this speed control springs issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 2006 Audi A4 cabriolet. VIN of the vehicle was WAUAC48H06_. Stopped by a red light waiting it to change. I was on a 2 lane road ,turning into a 6 lane road to go into a shopping center. My foot was on the brake as always, the car was in drive. All of a sudden the engine started to rev extremely high. The brake barely stopped me from hitting the car in front!I then put it into neutral and pressed the accelerator to lower the rpm. Car was towed to coral springs Audi. They couldn't find anything wrong! something is wrong. Audi A4 convert. Approx 21k miles. I really like this car and wish they would have found something wrong. I know the Toyota issue and it is ironic that it happened around the same time. This is a major issue. This needs follow-up big time! thanks. The failure date was Friday, February 26, 2010.

The car was a 2008 Buick Enclave. My husband, I, and our 3 young children were driving on I-94 at 70mph when our check engine light started flashing, the vehicle immediately starting shaking and riding extremely rough and the engine died. Fortunately we were in the right lane, and there was a wide shoulder for us to pull onto. We had the car towed to a gm delearship, who ran diagnostics and found that there were cylinder misfires on cylinders 1,3 &5. They ran further diagnostics and found that a valve spring broke & dropped into the cylinder. The piston hit the valve, knocked a hole in the piston, and pieces of the valve went through the engine. This vehicle was purchased 5 yrs and 9 months ago (9 months out of the warranty), but only halfway through the 100,000 mile warranty. We were given a gm customer service contact name (lashawn) and number, but she will neither answer her phone, nor return our numerous messages! we purchased this vehicle brand new and have done all maintenance work on schedule, and have never had a problem with this "luxury" vehicle. We chose this vehicle for all of its safety features, as parents of 3 young children, safety is of our utmost concern. We certainly didn't feel safe 3 hours from home, traveling back from vacation, in the middle of WI completely stranded with a vehicle whose engine died within 5 seconds of the warning lights coming on. As inconvenient as it is that our vehicle is 3 hours from us, we are so thankful this didn't happen in downtown chicago, where a dead vehicle on I-94 could have easily turned into a fatal collision. The failure date was Apr. 18, 2014.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Jaguar X-type. There was crash involved with this problem. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is SAJEA51C04_. On January 1, 2007 I was coming to a stop in heavy traffic. I applied the brake but the car lurched forward and I accelerated into a stopped car containing a family. I occasionally experienced the problem of unitended acceleration prior to the accident but at the time of the accident, I had not put the facts together. In the spring of 2008, I was on wet pavement going downhill when I applied the brake. The car seemed to accelerate rather than deaccelerate and I was thrown forward and into the rear of stopped pick up truck. I was injured on both occasions. I have called on Jaguar on several occasions to inquire about the problem I have described herein. Each time Jaguar denied any knoweldge of any such problems associated with my car. The car currently has 72,000 miles and I rarely drive it. Frankly, I'm too afraid to drive it. Sincerely,
