car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle involved is a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. I have a 2008 chevy Impala. Starting last month (may 2013) the service traction light and reduce engine power lights started coming on. I took it back to the place where I purchased the vehicle and it came back that it was the accelerator pedal. It was replaced and 5 days later the lights were back on again. I called the shop and they told me to bring it back to them on Monday because they were closed Saturday and Sunday. I took the car back to the shop and the lights weren't on. They told me that they could not get a reading on the car and to come pick it up. I drove off the lot and 3 days later the lights were back on. This has happened every week since they replaced the accelerator pedal. When I took it in initially they said it was either the accelerator pedal or the throttle. On Friday June 14th the car stopped the service traction system light, reduced engine power light and starting disabled service/check throttle light came on and the car stopped. It was still running but when I pressed the accelerator pedal it would not move. I cut it off and sat for about 10 minutes. I started it and drove straight to the lot it was Friday at 4:45 pm they closed at 5:00 the guy said bring it back Monday (wow really). I parked the car again all weekend didn't start it until Monday. The lights were off when I got in it on Monday as soon as I backed out of my drive way the lights popped back on and it would only go 40 mph. Luckily the place is about 3 miles from my house when I got there they weren't open yet so I sat there. When they finally opened I drove in and told the guy who I was. The drove the car around several times and could not get the lights to come back on. It is now Tuesday and I still don't have my car back. They say that they took it to the dealership to have them look at it. I'm not sure what to do at this point I need my car to get back and forth to work. This throttle control warning light on issue occurred Friday, May 10, 2013.

car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Ford Escape

I have a 2008 Ford Escape purchased used in 2011, and from day one been having problems. I brought it back to the dealership within the first week I purchased it. It stalled while driving and they couldn't resolve/find the problem. The problem went away, only to come back to where the car stalled when ever I came to a stop and engine light on. Now it doesn't stall but has a rough idle, hesitates when shifting gears and the check engine and throttle light comes on. Driving in traffic I feel I will get whiplash from it not accelerating when trying pressing the gas and it not going and bucking. I see im not alone with this problem. I feel Ford should play a part in fixing this being that's its not the driver obviously its the car! if I could afford to get another car I would but have no choice to be stuck with this one. The failure date was Sep. 17, 2011.

car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Jeep Patriot

The vehicle involved was a 2008 Jeep Patriot 4x4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1J8FF28W98_. Over the past year my Jeep has been very sluggish, accelerates at higher rpm's than normal, "shifts" rough ( even though it is a cvt and doesn't have gears). For example, when I slow down to make a turn and then proceed to accelerate after the turn, my Jeep hesitates to accelerate, the rpm's plummet and then reach to over 3000 rpm's before it slams/jerks into gear to return to around 2000 rpm's. Twice my Jeep has shuttered and stalled while at red lights. Last week after backing out of my driveway, as soon as I put it in drive the electronic throttle control light started flashing and dinging at me. My Jeep went into "limp mode" and I was not able to travel 8 feet from my driveway. I pulled to the side of the road and attempted to restart my Jeep 3 times, and every time I had the same "limp mode"/electronic throttle control issue. The check engine light did not come on at all. The manual states that "if the light is flashing when the engine is running you may experience power loss, an elevated/rough idle, and increased brake pedal effort, and your vehicle may require towing. Immediate service is required. ". This does not sound safe. I had it taken to a certified auto mechanic who said it was a throttle body issue and that I would need to have it replaced. However, Chrysler/Jeep has 1,500-2,000 throttle bodies on back order and I was told it would take several months to even receive the part. I'm glad that my Jeep did not stall or go into "limp mode" while traveling on the highway as this could cause a fatal accident. I consider myself lucky, even though I am now making car payments on a vehicle that will not run. This is also my only vehicle. There must be a major issue with the throttle body to have 1,500-2,000 on back order and should be looked into. This issue happened on February 19, 2014.

car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Jeep Patriot

The car was a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The car was in drive, however the gas pedal was not accelerating the car. It jerked several times and felt like it was going to stall then the electronic throttle light came on for a short time then went out- I took it to my mechanic he confirmed the car needed the throttle body however there are none on long island there are more then 450 on backorder coming from overseas!!!! it has happened intermittently for the past week and I cannot get it fixed. I am afraid the it is dangerous. Apparently if I am not able to find this part on long island this may be an issue that Jeep Chrysler should be addressing. There are only 60k miles on this car. This throttle control warning light on problem happened on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Mercury Mariner

The car involved was a 2010 Mercury Mariner. In 2011, while driving at approximately 60 mph, I pressed the gas pedal and could not accelerate. The engine stayed on but I could not accelerate. I was able to turn on the hazards and pull off to the side of the highway. I turned off the vehicle and after waiting 5 minutes I restarted the vehicle and the gas pedal was working. Then again in October 2013, I was driving approximately 30 mph when I lost acceleration capability. This time the throttle body indicator light was displayed. I took the vehicle in to a mechanic and he stated that nothing registered on the computer as a malfunction. He looked at the intake valve and could not see any build-up. In January 2014 this happened 3 times and I was able to restart the vehicle and proceed. However, on January 11, 2014 after the malfunction the vehicle did not reset immediately now the check engine light is displayed. car   Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of Toyota Camry

The vehicle was a 2005 Toyota Camry. My 2005 Camry has 53000 on it, very well maintained. Was driving 25 mph on a traverse when the engine suddenly died. I tried to restart the car without success. Called a towing service, however, 10 minutes later I was able to start the car and drove home. The "service engine" light remained on. At first chance I drove my car to my local mechanic who told me it was the throttle body, but suggested to bring my car to the Toyota dealer because he had seen so many of Camry throttle malfunctions that he thought there might be a recall. I took his advice, brought it to the dealer who confirmed that my throttle body was bad and needed replacing. However he told me that he could not guarantee that the "service engine" light would not go off unless I had an engine flush and a full tune-up. This did not sit well with me, so I declined the services. I paid him $100 as a diagnostic fee. When he went to get my car, the engine would not turn on at all. I called a towing company who took it back to my mechanic. He replaced the throttle and reset the service light. The car is now running, but because of my mechanic's statement and many similar throttle complaints recorded on the internet, I strongly feel that the throttle issue should be investigated. It was Thursday, August 25, 2011 when this throttle control warning light on issue happened.
