While pulling off the road the vehcle was skipping before came to a complete stop trying to make it home , the vehicle slowly sped up and started to jerk and skip again and then stared top back int reverse. It was taken to a local repair shop and was told that the vehicle had a transmission failure and it was recalled the the same problem. As the second owner of the vehicle, I was not aware of the recall so I did some research and found out that other owners are still having problem even with the recall so call to be fixed the defect problems. I called the the dealer( provided VIN) to verify my vehicle was taken in for the recall and was told it was taken in and "inspected" and not further information what else was done. The dealer gave me an over the phone estimate for repair cost of $5500. I requested a hard copy via email and they sent me an estimate for $6581. 37 to replace the transmission. I called America Honda CO on several occasion to get more information about the recall and to find out what exactly done to the vehicle and all they are telling me that my vehicle was fixed during the recall and they have no information on what was fixed or done to the vehicle and that I was responsible for the repair cost. I told America Honda that I was calling for recall information and they were more concern about who were responsible repair cost. During my research I learn this incident with my vehicle is still a safety issue and luckily no one was hurt and no fatality yet. car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Honda Odyssey

The car involved is a 2004 Honda Odyssey. Transmission slips in 2nd gear with a slight load I. E. Going up a slight hill. If you accelerate the slipping/shudder goes away. Honda was not able to give me specific information as to the VIN numbers affected by their 2004 transmission recall but could only tell me my VIN was not one of them. There are many complaints about the second gear slipping failure when I searched online, the information I read stated that the issue was with oil flow to the second gear clutch assembly. It seems the 2004 recall should have included more VIN numbers. My vehicle has high mileage now and is outside Honda's assistance parameters but if there had been a recall maybe my transmission would not have failed. car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Jeep Commander

The vehicle involved was a 2007 Jeep Commander. On several occasions my car has stalled and all gear boxes will light up with a message saying "service park assist" sometimes the car will beep and other times it won't. Usually this happens when I am in motion driving but at times will also happen when first putting it into gear. The check engine light will also come on. I have tried taking it in several times but they can't do anything because it will stop doing it before I get to the shop. Sometimes if I am stopped at a light the car will switch back and fourth from stalling and then back into gear without touching anything usually to make the car return to gear you have to pull over and turn the car off and back on it can take a couple times of doing this to make it correct. Sometimes when it switches out of gear and stalls there will be a loud sound the car will jerk it sounds like something under the car is causing the problem. This has been an on going problem since I bought this car this is a very serious problem that could potentially cause serious injuries or death I have been lucky enough to be able to quickly pull over every time it has happend. This needs to be investigated and have a recall there are several complaints of the same problem all over the web. This transmission gear indicator problem happened on Wed., Feb. 1, 2012.

car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Suzuki Forenza

I own a 2006 Suzuki Forenza wagen with an automatic trans-axle that I bought new from a dealership (expo Suzuki) selling Suzuki motor cars, in kingwood, texas. Problems started happening to my car while I was in my driveway attempting to shift from park to drive, when I noticed the gear selection indicator window on the dashboard started displaying odd readings other than park or drive or a combination of its range modes(r,d,n,1 and 2) with a slash line going through it, indicating that an error/malfunction is occurring (this started at 75,000 miles or less, on the vehicle's odometer. ), I shut off the car and restarted it with no error/malfunctions displayed; good, but the vehicle now drove sluggish; it would not drive beyond 20mph or less. It was taken back to the Suzuki dealership by tow-truck where I purchased the car from, and they claimed that no problems were found. Instances also involving this same problem with my Suzuki Forenza wagen came on the highway. The malfunction caused the car to quickly come to a near dangerous stop in heavy houston texas traffic, due to the nss(neutral safety switch) malfunctioning without warning; almost involving me in a near fatal collision going at highway speeds; I happened to look and see the dashboard gear indicator window had that slash mark(s) in it again. I've taken my car back and forth, to my Suzuki dealership because of the neutral safety switch problem, with them only replacing the transmission, this time. Dealerships in houston texas who sold Suzuki motor cars up until recent, will not touch this particular transmission, I've been told to just replace it, if its under Suzuki motors warranty? o. K. Fine. This has not remedied my ongoing problems with this car. This issue happened on April 11, 2013.

car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Toyota Tundra

The vehicle was a 2007 Toyota Tundra. Vehicle hard to stop with a/c or headlights on. Engine idles normally 5-600 rpm, until parking lights or a/c is turned on. Then it idles at 800 rpm in gear. Sometimes it feels like you've been rear ended, after coming to a stop. If driving surface is slippery and put into gear with head lights on, the rear tires will begin to spin, without touching the accelerator. This is a daily occurence that has been taken to different Toyota dealers with no relief. All they can say is that the computer says everything is okay. Turning the parking lights on does not cause enough load on the engine to warrant the extra 200 or more rpm. The other day ( 01/26/2010 ) I was turning around in a muddy driveway and while idling I turned the steering wheel to the left. I let my foot off the brake and the truck went straight, even as I applied the brakes, leaving two big ruts through my friends yard. This was caused by the ground being slippery and the high idle speed. I am sure that this will cut down on the life of the brakes. 4. 7 v8 engine. This problem occurred on 01/01/08.

car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Volkswagen GTI

The car involved is a 2006 Volkswagen Gti. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was WVWFV71K56_. Car started to exhibit intermittent abs faults which was indicated by dash mil and the following fault codes: transmission module 18255 - please check dtc memory of abs controller abs brakes 00290 - abs wheel speed sensor; rear left (g46) 012 - electrical fault in circuit - intermittent 00290 - abs wheel speed sensor; rear left (g46) 008 - implausible signal - intermittent with the codes present both abs and electronic stability control are disabled. The safety complaint however is that the automatic transmission control is periodically locked out. When at speed (60+ mph) the automatic transmission will shift into neutral. Manual gear select will not put the car back into a drive gear. Dash gear indicator will indicate 6th gear. At lower speeds (~25 mph) the transmission will periodically lock in second gear and will not shift to a higher gear. Manual gear selection also fails. Problem sometimes will not clear despite restarting the car multiple times. There are no indications of an actual transmission problem. The cause seems to be software override of the transmission due to incorrect abs module data. (transmission software seems to think the car is in a skid and is holding gear). So far the abs module, wheel speed sensor, and tone ring have been replaced. Condition is still present. When the transmission problem is present shift lock also does not work. The dealer is currently in the process of replacing the wiring harnesses. It was 12/13/13 when this transmission gear indicator issue occurred.

I was doing 10 mph, and I had to cross two lanes of traffic doing 65 mph. Nowhere to go but that. I was so scared and was really lucky that no one hit me, although they did have to hit their brakes hard and swerve to avoid me. This is something I've seen on different forums now, and everyone says it is a mechatronic unit gone bad. The failure date was Oct. 12, 2011.

car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of Volvo XC90

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Volvo Xc90. 1) 7,500 mile checkup (under 7,000 miles on car) 2) check engine light keeps activating. This started on Tuesday. I only use premium gasoline in car. 3) received ã‚anti-skid service requiredã‚쳜 message with yellow indicator light remaining on. This happened on Tuesday and later disappeared after driving the car again. 4) there is a problem with the gearshift indicator. When I change gears from park to anything else, the display panel is either blank or it shows an incorrect gear ã‚ it will show neutral when I am in drive or reverse. Also in all cases, the gearshift on the floor will not light up so it doesnã‚t show at all what gear I am in. This happened once last week and has been happening on and off since then. 5) I think because of number 4 on my list, the car seems to hesitate and even buck a little bit upon acceleration. These symptoms resulted in Volvo having to replace the transmission on my car. The car was just reaching its one year mark and had less than 7,000 miles on it when this happened. Thankfully the car is under warranty, but I find it completely unaccaptable and unsafe that something like this would happen to my car. Also, the day the car was to be picked up for service I received two brake failure pull over safely messages. This also had to do with the transmission needing replacing. Again, completely unaccaptable. This issue happened on Friday, May 20, 2005.

car   Transmission Gear Indicator problem of BMW 7 Series

The vehicle is a 2006 BMW 7 Series. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is WBAHN83526_. Oct 19th 2012, 2006 BMW 750li. (automatic park feature causes vehicle to almost run over my daughter on its own) I stopped the car on my driveway and opened the driver door while at the same time pushed the p park button on the shifter (opening door while car is stopped causes this model to automatically shift to "p" park) I proceeded to exit car to key in my garage code on the keypad mounted by the door about 8 feet away. This is my first car with automatic park feature so just in case I always manually push the "p" park button as a redundant habit. I think it's important to note that I physically saw the transmission shift from d drive to p park and light up before exiting the vehicle. The car was still running and in park!, when out of the corner of my eye, before the garage door could open I noticed the car following me. It moved about 8 feet and barely missed my 4 year old that was on her bicycle about 5 feet away. It slammed into my garage door at around 2-5mph before coming to a stop on its own before I could do anything about it. When I got back in the car, there was little gear light on the dash and a transmission failure code" appeared and it had shifted to n neutral on its own. Now when I attempt to put in d drive it automatically goes into neutral after a few seconds. Apparently, it went into neutral all by itself and inertially plowed into the door. It didn't make sense to me how it went from park to neutral until I read your article regarding an ongoing investigation. I further found through the BMW forums that this is an issue affecting many cars in this year and model range. I even noticed that your administration has investigated this issue in the past. It was Saturday, October 20, 2012 when this transmission gear indicator issue happened.
