car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Chevrolet Silverado

The vehicle having this issue was a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3GCPKTE77D_. Since I purchased this truck in June 2013, I've had several occasions where when the truck sits without being used for several days, when I back out of my driveway and put the transmission in drive, the transmissions slips. The truck won't move for a second, the engine rpm's race and then when the transmission catches, it will actually squeal the tires. Then at times it will continue to do this for the first several times I stop at a light or stop sign. This doesn't seem to happen once the truck has been driven for a distance, and it doesn't happen everytime the truck is used. I've talked to the service manager at the dealership and he says they've not had any issues with other trucks. I'm actually going to pick up the service manager and have him with me when I start my truck today after it has set for four days. I hope it does this with him in the vehicle so he can feel what's happening. I've been a loyal chevy owner for over 30 years but I'm really disappointed in this truck which costs $45,000. It was Thu., Oct. 31, 2013 when this transmission gear slipping issue happened.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2A8HR54X29_. My car is a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country with just over 60000 miles on it. The transmission is slipping and according to the dealer will have to be replaced now as it is failing fast. His recommendation is that I don't drive it very far. There is no reason why a 3 year old car with 60000 miles on it should have the transmission failing. I have been reading up on this and there are apparently quite a few complaints regarding this specific year and model. Many people have complained about the transmission failing. Apparently, Chrysler's warranty only covers 3 years or 36,000 miles unless you buy the extended. Since I bought this car from my parents it is technically used and that option was not available to me. Regardless, obviously the shoddy workmanship and parts of this car have contributed to the failure of my transmission along with that of many other owners. This issue happened on Jan. 14, 2013.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Dodge Avenger

The vehicle was a 2008 Dodge Avenger. On or about Feb. 17, 2009 and continuing to present, my 2008 Avenger has had numerous problems shifting. The problem started with hard shifting and transmission slippage. Now, when driving at 45mph when the car goes to shift into overdrive, and misses 4th gear. There is a sudden loss of gears and the tachometer climbs rapidly because the overdrive gear will not engage. When engine rpm is lowered, car downshifts into 2nd gear (limp mode) and will not shift normally until the vehicle is turned off and re-started. The sudden loss of speed may result in a crash and personal injury to the occupants of the vehicle. I have seen numerous complaints on this problem and have noticed a lot of service bulletins related to improper shifting of the 2008 Avenger. Even though Dodge is aware of the problems with the powertrain control module, they have refused to issue a recall on the module placing the safety of its customers below the importance of their profits. The failure date was 02/17/2009.

The vehicle involved was a 2012 Ford Focus. Since I've owned the car, I've taken it back to the dealer more than twelve times. I bought it new and have problems with transmission slipping, jumping, lurching. I have been having these issues plus issues with the radio constantly resetting itself since the day I bought the car. The dealer claimed to me that the reason my car times backwards after coming to a stop was to save fuel, then there was a recall on the car to have the transmission reprogrammed to stop it. I had this done, but it still occurs with my car. It was Thursday, March 15, 2012 when this transmission gear slipping issue happened.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of GMC Sierra

The vehicle involved is a 2013 GMC Sierra. Hello, the date and milage above is not actual date of first incident, but is the first time I took it in for the first oil change and vehicle inspection which also was the first time I complained to the dealership about the issue. My transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd gear at least 4 times a month. The dealer told me that if I cant prove it or if it doesnt do it when they drive it then they cant perform a diagnostic test to fix the problem. The seller who sold me the vehicle called me twice to see how im enjoying my truck and I complained to him both times about the issue and he told me the same thing about my issue. I even left voicemails to him about it and he never returned my calls until I made a year (3/16/14) owning my truck and claims he dont remember me telling him this the first time. Im a strong gm fan but I feel im not being helped with my issue and its annoying that I have to drive my truck cautious guessing will it slip this time or will it slip next time? if its professional grade then why am I having this problem? I use my truck for family vacations and I know anyone with the same problem would not drive this truck far away from home with this issue. It does it when it wants to but its just funny how im trying to figure out when it will do it again. I get all these emails asking me to rate the dealership 5 stars and to rate the truck but I cant even get my truck checked out. Then they tell me they wont give me a rental which I would need another truck as a rental. This is sad I spend 30 grand on a truck I cant get worked on unless I have proof. This problem occurred on Jun. 11, 2013.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle involved was a 2009 GMC Acadia. While driving thru an intersection with a yield my vehicle suddenly stopped and the engine rpm climbed to around 3500 rpm. The transmission slipped between gears causing a sudden and unexpected slow down. Luckily another driver was alert and had to slow down quickly to keep from hitting us as we were merging with traffic. This never happened before and came on without warning. As soon as it happened once it has been happening more often, I brought the vehicle in and the diagnosis was the "wave plates" in the transmission. The mechanic informed me that this transmission had an issue with a part that was not properly heat treated and caused it to fail. I called the gm dealer and they would not warranty because we were just outside the 100,000 mile warranty period. They also stated that they knew there have been many issues with this vehicle but gm has not issued any type of recall. Now I need a new transmission at a cost of around 4,000 dollars. I have owned several gm vehicles in the past and gotten well over 250,000 miles with no issues at all. This could have been very serious and caused injuries if the circumstances were different and someone who panicked was involved. I feel that this should warrant a recall and force gm into looking into this further. Thank you for your time. It was Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 when this transmission gear slipping issue occurred.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Acura CL

Summary: I own a 2001 Acura Cl with 32,437 miles on it. The car has been perfectly maintained. While driving approximately 20-30 mph, the transmission slipped hard between first and second gear jerkily, and the rpms increased. The vehicle was taken immediately to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. I inquired about any recalls regarding transmission and the dealer stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign id number: 04v176000 (power train: automatic transmission) . I didnt remember. I feel strongly that the failure was either not corrected properly, or that Acura corporation failed to properly identify this serious and recurring issue. My car has been driven about once a week since purchase and a few times for vacation. Given the low mileage and regular maintainence I feel this $4,511. 39 repair issue is one I cannot afford to ignore. It should have at least included a lifetime warranty, instead of 3 years or 36,000 miles. Do I have any recourse or is this a forum simply for complaints?. car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Mercury Milan

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Mercury Milan. The first incident my car was bucking and shaking. I took to dealer and they replaced the computer that ran the transmission and 3 coils. Now at 77,000 it again is having slipping issues with the transmission. These issues seem to happen at random times, but usually between 40 and 50 mph. When you put your foot on the gas to accelerate from 40-50mph there is a loud banging sound when the transmission slips and you lose acceleration. You have to take your foot off the gas and try repeatedly again to get the car to accelerate. I almost got rear-ended by a tractor trailer when I attempted to change lanes, but could not accelerate due to the slipping problem. It took it to mechanic who had the car for 2 weeks and couldn't find the problem. Mechanic took it to Ford dealer and they said they put on computer diagnostics and couldn't find a problem. I have found countless other reports on the internet of people who have the same problem and even people who have reported either having to drive off the highway due to the lack of acceleration and also of people who have gotten into accidents due to this problem of not being able to accelerate. This is a very dangerous situation to be in on the highway - not being able to accelerate!!!!! I'm worried about getting in an accident and/or getting killed. This problem occurred on 02/23/2012.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Mitsubishi Montero Sport

In December 2002 I purchased my car (2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport xls 4x4) from a local private seller. The car had about 38,000 at the time and was still under the 60,000 mile manufacturers warranty. The seller insisted he did not have the records of the repairs, but did give me a spreadsheet of routine maintenance for the car. After having the car checked by my regular mechanic I bought the car despite the lack of records since it had low mileage and was still under warranty. I then drove the car and performed the routine maintenance. In December 2003 the car reached 60,000 miles and was therefore due for routine maintenance. Due to my low income while attending graduate school I could not afford to get the service done until the car reached 61,000 miles. I opted not to get the service done at the dealer because of cost. The mechanic (carolina import and domestic, 4235 capital blvd. , raleigh, nc, 919-872-0350) immediately informed me the car was slipping between gears and the transmission fluid was black- meaning the transmission slipping was causing the fluid to be burned. The mechanic told me the transmission would need to be repaired soon but suggested I change the fluid every 15k in the meantime. After learning this I immediately approached the seller and requested the service records, if any, and he finally relented. The transmission fluid was changed at 38k by leith Mitsubishi cary and it was black then too- demonstrating leith Mitsubishi ignored the problem while the car was still under warranty. I then contacted leith Mitsubishi and they said the fluid should have been changed at 30k instead of 38k which caused the transmission to fail and they would not fix the car. Following this I contacted numerous mechanics and they all agreed that changing the fluid late would not cause the transmission to fail, that the transmission was failing before the fluid needed to be changed. This transmission gear slipping problem happened on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003.

car   Transmission Gear Slipping problem of Toyota Camry

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Toyota Camry. Unintended acceleration not caused by the accelerator at least a dozen times over the 2 years I owned the car. The first time was about a month after I bought the car used. As I entered my garage at a creep, I felt the transmission drop into the lowest gear then the car leaped forward. My foot was off the accelerator and poised over the brake petal as I was almost in my parking position. Shortly thereafter, I took car to the t. Dealer who reprogrammed the transmission. Similar sudden acceleration in several scenarios occurred at least a dozen times over the next 2 years at low speeds. Each time the sudden acceleration occurred instantly when the transmission dropped from a higher gear into a lower gear. I am a back yard mechanic and have been driving for over 50 years. I feel that one of two things could be wrong. 1. The wrong transmission oil was used. Of the 4 vehicles I have had here, the Camry was the only one which would climb over a one inch edge at the garage entrance without using the accelerator. The Camry did not have much transmission slip which could be a design fault or more probably an oil with the wrong slip characteristics. 2. The transmission lock-up that comes on in overdrive was malfunctioning. This transmission gear slipping issue occurred 06/15/11.

2006 Audi A3 2. 0t with dsg. Transmission is slipping sometimes on acceleration, sometimes with steady driving. Stepped on accelerator at stop light and transmission engaged for about 5 feet, then car lurched to a stop, then transmission caught and it accelerated forward again. Issue repeated two more times within the hour. Today I was cruising at a steady 70 mph, 6th gear, about 2800 rpm, and the transmission let go and rpms dropped to about 2200 before the transmission re-engaged and the vehicle was again at 2800 rpm. Happened once per mile after that, and then twice again on surface streets in 4th gear. Appears to match exactly the symptoms owners experience with recalled 2007-2010 vehicles with the same transmission. The failure date was Saturday, Jul. 6, 2013.
