car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Chevrolet Camaro

A few months ago I took my 2013 Chevrolet Camaro 2ls to premier Chevrolet of buena park for an oil change. On the way home after driving the car for about 60 miles the check engine light came on for a few minutes then it went off. On may the 22nd on my way back home from work the check engine light came back on while sitting in traffic. Once traffic started moving I noticed that the car would not shift gears it was stuck on 2nd gear. Drove the car through the streets to the nearest dealership in la puente CA the whole way the car would not shift. I am waiting for a response from the dealer to see if the warranty is going to cover the issue. It was May. 22, 2014 when this transmission not go into gear issue occurred.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Chevrolet Impala is 2G1WD58C66_. Traffic light turned green, attempted to accelerate, no forward movement. The rpms would go up, but the car would not move in any gear including reverse. Called onstar and they informed me that the transmission had failed. This is a '06 Chevrolet Impala ss with 72,000 miles driven. I had to pay for a 3k transmission to replaced the failed one. I was informed after the failure that this is an extremely common problem with the chevy ls4 engine and this transmission. Gm is well aware of these transmission failures, but refuses to recall them. This problem occurred on Apr. 18, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

The car was a 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. My transmission will not go into the last gear and was slipping. Car has 38,000 miles on it and when I had it checked out the mechanic said there was a cellinoid bad in the transmission and when he replaced it the transmission still was not working properly by not changing gears and when he took the part back to the parts store he was informed that there was a problem with Chryslers transmissions. I had a town & country van several years ago and that transmission also was defective. Now I cannot get my money back from buying a part that really wasn't needed because the transmission it self is defective. My mechanic felt so bad about this that he checked the internet and discovered Chrysler has a problem with their transmissions. What rights or what can we do about this? I do not have monies to squander and I am still paying for my car. Thanks. This transmission not go into gear issue occurred April 25, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Chrysler Sebring

The car involved is a 2001 Chrysler Sebring coupe. While driving vehicle at approximately 25 mph on the road, the rpms reved up to high levels and the car acclerated at a higher speed without intention, after letting foot completely off the gas pedal the rpms continued to go to high levels and car automatically drove itself without accelerating the gas pedal and even while breaking the rpms continued to rev up and car drove itself. After finally being able to get the car slowed down enough it was able to be put into park, however, after trying to go into drive or another gear the rpms reved up again. After getting vehicle apparently fixed of that problem in which they believed to be a gas pedal problem, one week later the same experience happened again on the road, a splash was heard underneath the hood as if something broke splashing fluid, the car went into a neutral like position while driving and the car would not go into any other gear after. After getting it inspected it was discovered that the transmission went out. I have looked on internet to find many other very similiar experiences with other people having this same exact year, make and model car and have found faulty valve spring in these transmissions. This issue happened on 03/26/2012.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Dodge Durango

The car was a 2005 Dodge Durango. I was on my home from work going about 40mph. I got to a redlight before I stopped the SUV jerked. And when I press the gas paddle to go , the SUV would not move. I then tried to put it in another gear it was on but it still would not move. The police officer that pushed it out of the street said that it was the transmission. Also you can jst be driving the SUV would just stop. This is very dangerous, and can cause accidents. On one occasion I had to nearly run off of the road to keep from having and accident. I think that Chrysler llc should replace my 2005 Dodge Durango. Being that I'm a single grandparent and now I have no transportation. So I can't get to work to provide for my granddaughter. This issue happened on Mar. 25, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Dodge Charger

The car involved is a 2006 Dodge Charger. VIN of the vehicle was 2B3KA53H26_. My vehicle shuts off at random times. While I am sitting at a red light it will shut off or while I am waiting for the car to warm up. When I take off the engine will shut off for a brief second. The engine starts up and the car will jerk forward. Sometimes when the vehicle shuts off it wont go back into gear and some of the gauges flash. I was left in the middle of an intersection twice when the vehicle shut off. I have taken the vehicle to transmission shops and dealerships and they can't tell me what is wrong with the vehicle. This issue happened on Monday, November 4, 2013.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Ford Taurus

The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus. I was driving down a main highway when my rpm's dropped (as if car was going to stall), there was a loss of power and then the car would not accelerate. As I was in a area where there was a lot of traffic I had to ease my way over to be able to get the vehicle off of the road. The engine was still running, but as I tried to accelerate there was no power. The shifter on the column just goes up and down and does not engage in any gear. Everyone that I have consulted seems to think that it is an issue with the transmission. I have since done research only to find out that this is a known problem with these cars. Had I known that I would never have purchased it. On one website alone there were 293 cases reported of the same transmission failure and Ford has refused to do anything about this known problem. My dad worked for Ford for almost 40 years before retiring. We have always driven Fords and have never had an issue like this with any of our vehicles. I am sure that my dad is turning over in his grave right now at the poor quality of the Taurus and the known issues which Ford is aware of, but has never done anything to rectify it with Taurus owners. Who can afford to go out and buy a brand new car in this day and age? even worse yet, who would want to sink the amount of money it would cost for a repair job on a transmission into a car that isn't worth much more value wise. I am very disappointed with Ford! I am a single female in her 60's that can't afford the repairs or to go out and buy another vehicle at this time. I am still working and also drive a half hour one way to go to college 4 days a week. Now what do I do? shame on you Ford for not standing behind your products!. This transmission not go into gear issue occurred Friday, April 18, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Ford Focus

The car was a 2012 Ford Focus. Driving down highway, car lost power, the check engine light and the traction control light came on. Would not accelerate, brakes would not function properly to stop. When I finally got the car stopped in a parking lot next to my place of business, the car would not start up again, and when it did, it would not go into any gear. Sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes trying to get the car to start up and go into gear. When it finally did go into gear, I got it to my place of business 2 blocks down and parked it. I am afraid to drive the car as it is a major safety issue. There have been recalls on the electric version of this car, but not the gasoline versions. This needs to be a recall on all of these models as there are several hundred complaints online about the same issue. Ford will not do anything about these issues unless the car is taken to one of their dealerships, which in past experience, they don't do anything at the dealership except overcharge for diagnosing the car, and for them to tell you nothing is wrong with it and that they know there are issues with the cars, but they do not have a fix for them and they can change the parts, however that will not solve the problem and it will happen again. I have been told this by the manager at a dealership and he has stated there is nothing he can do to change the situation. This is a major safety issue and someone needs to look into Ford for the same issues gm is having with their small cars. It was May 22, 2014 when this transmission not go into gear issue occurred.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle involved was a 2009 GMC Acadia. Initially noticed when shifting from park to another gear shifting was hard. About a week later noticed hesitation in shifting gears while driving at various rates of speed then the engine would rev once it shifted into gear. Eventually parked the car in drive then went to back out to take to dealership and it would not go into reverse. Vehicle towed to dealership where they replaced the wave plate and other parts that were contaminated. Since this incident the vehicle has not drove smoothly or shifted gears smoothly. It also gets less than 15 miles to the gallon during my daily commute now where prior to the transmission fix I would get 19-20. Vehicle hesitates and revs continually while driving and accelerating. When I returned the vehicle to the dealership stating there was still an issue I received "we could not replicate the issue" and sent on my way. After research on this site and other and reading the systemic issues others have had just like it I am concerned for my family and those around me safety if the transmission decides to stop while traveling high speed in traffic or when crossing traffic. This transmission not go into gear issue occurred Aug. 5, 2013.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Honda Accord

2003 Honda Accord with under 80,000 miles. V6 with automatic transmission. Transmission started slipping while making turn in neighborhood. While turning, pressing the gas only raised the rpms, but the car was not moving. I thought I was going to get hit by oncoming traffic. After trying to re-create trouble, it appears if the car tries to downshift into a low gear and gas is applied heavily, the car red lines and does not shift gears. This was a bad moment for this to happen. Very dangerous to think pressing the gas pedal has the potential not to move. Slow acceleration and the transmission shifts fine, but if you need to get out of the way, you can't accelerate hard. This transmission not go into gear problem happened on May. 15, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Hyundai Santa Fe

The car was a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. Dear nhsta - my Santa Fe had a malfunction at 65 mph that causes the car to abruptly slow down and run in only third gear. This is a huge distraction to the driver and could easily cause an accident. The codes are p0121 and p0733 which have to do with a throttle/accelerator position sensor and a third gear ratio mismatch. I believe the way this works is the accelerator position sensor sends a signal to the electronic throttle system module which activates an ets motor on the throttle body which opens/closes the throttle butterfly damper based on a computed error signal. Upon researching this on Hyundai forums it was very apparant that this malfunction is very common and very dangerous. I searched the current recalls and this is not one of the two recalls I could find for this vehicle. But in 50% of the cases I read about it appeared that either the accelerator sensor or throttle sensor is a common failure. I really think this should be investigated. There are also some other items that can cause these sensors to see this mismatch and give the engine/transmission the fault code which causes the car to either go into "limp" mode or single gear mode. Although both are at different speeds it basically limits the car to a maximum rpm and causes it to either run in one gear or not shift above a gear, for example 3rd gear into overdrive. This seems to be a common fault that is extremely dangerous when running at or near highway speeds due to the unexpected nature of the event and the speed change and noise it can cause thus surprising the driver which may cause them to stop or pull over unexpectedly. Other malfunctions that can cause this are mass air flow sensor, fuel injector o-ring faulty and leaky intake manifolds among others. This serious issue that should be investigated and redesigned or repaired on these vehicles. This issue happened on March 27, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Kia Motor Soul

The vehicle involved was a 2012 Kia Motor Soul. 8-31-13 is the first time I went into the dealership to complain about the car accelerating when I would first start the car up in the garage and then when I was driving it would jerk into another gear. They reset the adaptive learning system. 10-9-13, is the 2nd time I went to dealership with the similar situation, but the car would seem like it was shifting from 1st to 2nd while I was actually driving. They checked transmission fluid levels and they thought it was low (they told me this is nonserviceable area and they had to access the cover which is bolted). They filled the transmission fluid and said to watch and check next time I have an oil change. 10-11-13, on way to work, car was being driven to work (30-45 mph, city driving) when it seemed like it was holding its breath,,,suddenly downshifted on it's own. Got to office. When leaving for the day, car was jerking as it was shifting from first to 2nd and seemed to not engage properly. Happened a couple of times at speeds less than 40 mph. Then noticed the equivalent of a check engine light came on and stayed on. Called dealership before I got home and asked if I could come in first thing in the morning. Will be taking to dealership in morning. This is similar situation that someone else previously reported to this site on 8-10-13 for kia Soul 2012. It was August 31, 2013 when this transmission not go into gear issue occurred.

Subsequently found water in transmission fluid which had damaged transmission parts requiring complete new system. As this system is supposed to be a closed system neither the local Land Rover service manager nor the aamco technicians have any idea how water could have entered the system. Land rover of north America refused any accountability. This problem occurred on 01/10/2005.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Lexus RX300

The car is a 2002 Lexus Rx300. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JTJHF10U82_. The transmission totally failed. Vehicle would not move in any gear. Rpms pegged out at 6k. Had the vehicle towed to northtown Lexus in amherst, NY. They agreed that the transmission was totally shot and would cost approximately $5,500 to replace, just for the part. I subsequently had the vehicle towed to continental transmission in buffalo, NY, where it was rebuilt for $3,100. I understand from posts at the Lexus owners club of USA that Rx300 transmissions are prone to failure as they were not designed for the added stresses imposed by and SUV. This problem occurred on Dec. 16, 2011.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Lexus IS350

The vehicle was a 2008 Lexus Is350. When accelerating onto a freeway, the vehicle will shift gears normally. There have been a handful of instances, though, where the gears do not shift as expected. On those occasions, the car would shift upward to the 5th gear (out of 6). After lightly releasing gas pedal, the car does not shift to 6th gear and the rpm stays high around 3500-4000rpm. It stays in that gear unless I briefly tap on the brakes and back to the gas pedal. If the speeddrops to he 35mph range, then it drops to 4th gear. After the incident, the behavior of the car is normal again. The reason for concern is that this occurred about a total of 6 times since I owned the car, and they occurred on a normal daily commute that I consider routine. These few times were definitely out of the ordinary behavior for the transmission. This transmission not go into gear problem happened on 01/05/2009.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The vehicle was a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The clutch on my manual transmission 2010 Mazda3 suddenly stopped operating properly. It grinds gears and does not change gears when I shift. I drove the vehicle in to a Mazda dealer on Saturday, with a week left on my warranty. On Monday, they called to tell me that their technician could not even drive my car as there was no clutch pad! I wondered how I could drive the car to them, but once it was in their possession, it was suddenly undriveable. I am now being forced to pay $1100 to replace the clutch, because they say my warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. I asked how a completely disintegrated clutch pad is "normal wear and tear" on a vehicle which has only been driven 16k miles! this could have been dangerous had it failed completely while driving! I filed a claim with the better business bureau. I also called the Mazda corporate office for assistance, where I was told I could simply voice a complaint. "tom" refused to allow me to speak with a supervisor or anyone higher than himself (he was just a call-center employee). He offered to call the dealership and ask them to provide me with a discount. When I spoke to the dealer today, they said tom did call them, but never asked for any discounts! all he did was explain that Mazda has not recalled the clutch, so my warranty would not cover the necessary replacement. Mazda sold me a sub-par vehicle, and now they lied about their way of handling the error. I looked online and have found several complaints on the same vehicle claiming the exact same problems on a low-mileage clutch. This clearly is a manufacturing defect, not driver error. It should be recalled as the problem is so common in this exact make and model with such low miles. $1100 later and I get a new shoddy clutch which I will have to replace in another 16k miles. Disappointed and will never own another Mazda again if this is not resolved. It was Sep. 20, 2012 when this transmission not go into gear issue occurred.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Mercedes Benz GL450

The vehicle involved was a 2007 Mercedes Benz Gl450. The VIN of this vehicle is 4JGBF71E27_. Transmission is getting stuck in a gear and not shifting up or down. The vehicle failed to shift and accelerate to maintain speed on an uphill incline on the highway. This was a scary and dangerous situation on the highway. I have had other failure to shift gear issues with this vehicle before and after this incident. The "fix" is to turn the car off and restart the vehicle. If this failure to shift gears occurs during a turn or other dangerous situation it can result in a fatality. I see numerous reports of this failure online from other '07 Gl450 owners. This has to be addressed. The failure date was Apr. 19, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Mercury Mariner

The car was a 2007 Mercury Mariner. I purchased the vehicle with 6,000 miles on it. I kept up my normal maintance on the vehicle and replaced things when needed. At approximately 42,000 my transmission would no longer shift the gears. The vehicle was brought to wallace dealership of which they kept my vehicle for almost 2 weeks. They explained they did an overhaul of the transmission and fixed repairs on it so that their would be no further problems with transmission later on down the road. Now at 84,735 miles later, I am once again having transmission problems and my vehicle will not go into gear. Because I am out of warranty my vehicle will sit until I can make the repairs as a transmission replacement is not a cheap expense. This is a serious problem with in this car and deserves extreme priority of investigation on a recall for this year, make, and model of vehile. I am receiving no help from the Ford company and I am finding it extremely difficult that this problem in this vehilce has not been resolved or dealt with. I have had a private transmission company examine my vehilce (has not touched it), of which they discovered, the internal filter is clogging the cvt (constant velocity transmission) for which something will continiously break in the filter or where the filter is held causing this to happen. car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The car was a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse spyder. While driving from the highway on an off ramp at 50 mph, engine (rpm) started bogging down, then both front tires locked up to a screeching halt. I almost slide off the ramp and almost got rear ended by a semi truck behind me. Front tires were locked up, would not move out of the road and would not come out of gear. Had it towed to repair shop and was quoted $3,000 just to pull the transmission for diagnostics. Was told transmission failed and vehicle would not be worth the money to fix because front strut towers both were rusted. Had vehicle towed home and I will try to perform the repair myself. car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of SAAB 95

The vehicle is a 2007 SAAB 9-5. The VIN of the car is YS3ED59G47_. Purchased a 2007 SAAB 9-5 wagon in Feb 2010 with 14,000 miles still under both bumper to bumper original manufacturer warranty and pre-certified warranty. 5 weeks later in March 2010, car stalled on I-95 while traveling 70-75 miles per hour in south caroline at least 4 times with 2 different drivers. Thank goodness we were in south carolina not at home in nyc area where I am sure we would have had an accident. SAAB towed the car and said the throttle body needed replacement. The car still does not shift gears smoothly. And, from what I have read on the internet the powertrain/throttle body have been an issue with the SAAB cars. car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle was a 2008 Saturn Vue. The vehicle has 87,000 miles on it and has always been serviced at dealership. While driving thru a parking lot I felt it shift hard. It drove fine for a few miles, then while in residential area I heard a squealing noise. I stopped and turned off vehicle. Turned it back on and it would not go in reverse. Waited about 30 minutes turned it on again and it would go in reverse but not drive. Waited again for 30 minutes and started it again and it would not go in any gear. There should not be transmission problems at 87,000 on a one owner, well maintained vehicle. The dealership kept my vehicle for 26 days before returning it. Gm customer service was not helpful and very hard to deal with. There is obviously a known issue with this transmission. The reason for the 26 day delay is because they had so many in for repairs. While the 87,000 miles was inside the mileage warranty, the vehicle was out of warranty by time. 3. It was Jun. 29, 2013 when this transmission not go into gear issue happened.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle having this issue was a 2003 Saturn Vue. This is the second complaint I have had to file. This car keeps breaking down on me and it is not even one year old! on 1/12/04 I needed to drive to rocky mount, nc then on to roanoke rapids, nc school. After arriving in rocky mount, my car would not go into gear, but started fine. When I attempted to put the car in gear the care stalled and turned off. I then attempted to start my car again and place it into gear one more time. It started and went into gear and seemed to drive fine. I called Saturn of greenville and they told me that the battery is likely to be the problem and to not turn my car off for one hour, I then stated that I would continue to drive to roanoke rapids. After arriving at my final destination, my car again stalled and turned off when I placed it into gear. I had to get my car towed and get a rental car which were both huge inconveniences to me. Finally, on 1/16/04, I called Saturn to find out what was wrong with my car and they said that air was trapped in the transmission line and that during the repair process, damage was done to a drain bolt ("stripped"). I was then told I could pick my car up on 1/17/04. After getting my car back, it is still making a grinding noise in the steering column when I turn the steering wheel, it makes weird noises constantly, and the rpms are messed up. They rev up when I tap the pedal, but when I need to accelerate, they do nothing. Something is seriously wrong with the Saturn Vue and their transmissions need to be recalled!. This problem occurred on Monday, January 12, 2004.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Suzuki Reno

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Suzuki Reno. Intermittent issue with the check engine light coming on and the rpms would reach higher points even while idling. During normal drives the unit would start revving when it was to switching over to another gear and after the issue the check engine light comes on and the car has problems accelerating. Sometimes on start up a similar issue appears and after the revving ends it slowly goes back to normal rpms but having a hard time accelerating. We've taking it to the dealership and they've replaced parts and have held the vehicle plenty of times to fix the issue but it goes away and comes right back. Each time we've brought it in it either goes away from a reset and never comes back or goes away before they can inspect it. Occasionally we were capable of bringing the car with the issue and the error code differentiates from one another. Each time they've said they have fixed the car but it comes back up. Now we're at a loss as the extended warranty we purchased has expired and we can no longer afford to spend more money on this vehicle. We've searched countless records online with others stating the same issue. We've brought this vehicle to third party mechanics to see what they can find but no one will touch the vehicle. The dealership local to us has all the records of it and can provide them. This problem occurred on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Toyota RAV4

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Toyota Rav4. I was driving west on northgate way toward meridian avenue. The car (automatic transmission) failed to shift gears and almost stopped in the middle of the intersection near i5 northbound entrance. I continued to drive to meridian way and turn left. I pulled over to the curb on meridian way and turned the car off. I then restarted the car and drove home to wallingford (3 miles) by pacing the car so that I did not have to interact with other vehicles. (this occurred early on a Sunday morning so traffic was light. ) I was barely able to drive the car up my driveway - shifting continued to be a problem so that the car stalled and did not respond to the accelerator. Toyota has a document that describes the problem. However I cannot access any assistance from Toyota because the car has been in service greater than 10 years. The experience was very frightening. The failure is episodic and unpredictable. I feel Toyota should replace the ecm in any car that fails in this manner. There are technical service reports on the website. The warranty is limited to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The failure date was Feb. 19, 2014.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of Volvo XC90

The car involved was a 2005 Volvo Xc90. I attempted to pass another car and the engine revved very high while the transmission was slipping and could not go into gear. This put my children and I in a very dangerous situation with oncoming traffic. Although I was able to swerve back into my own lane in time, it was a very scary 10 or 15 seconds. I have been afraid to drive it until I can get it into the repair shop, but have driven it on short trips around town. The transmission continues to slip some in normal driving. I'm taking it to Volvo service tomorrow but some quick research found that this is a very common issue with this SUV, and that Volvo is completely aware of it. In fact, the customer service person I spoke with from Volvo n. Am said "it's an epidemic", and the service writer for northpoint Volvo has seen it many, many times. It looks like I'm in for as much as $8500 for a transmission, and even more for possible damage to the axles as well as a new radiator, which seems to be the cause of the whole problem due to fluid contamination (glycol into the transmission fluid). I wasn't aware of the problem until now, but I had certainly wondered why my $48,000 vehicle had plummeted in value compared to other cars! this is not only a serious safety hazard but also a financial hardship on the many people who purchased this SUV based on an expectation of quality at least in line with minimum industry standards. Clearly this company is not standing behind their product and a recall is in order. It was May 8, 2012 when this transmission not go into gear issue occurred.

car   Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of BMW 528

VIN of the vehicle was WBANV13578_. For the past month, my car, a 2008 BMW 528 ix (automatic) would slip out of drive (d) into park (p) as I was accelerating forward from a dead stop. The electronic gear shift mechanism would do this approximately 10% of the time, and cause the car to jerk to a stop. It would require me to put it back into drive and start again. At first I thought I might be doing something wrong, so I didn't report it immediately. However, it kept happening. This created a dangerous situation, as sometimes I was in an intersection when this occurred. A few weeks later (before I had chance to take it in for service), the gear shift stopped working completely, and the car would not shift into gear at all. The gear shift mechanism is an electronic part, not a mechanical connection. I called BMW, and they said the part was not covered by any warrantee or recall (the car was 5k miles out of warrantee). I had to pay for the repair, a $1300 expense. This transmission not go into gear problem happened on August 14, 2013.
