car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Chevrolet HHR

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. Since around the beginning of this year, our heater went out and the coolant system has not worked properly to cool the engine causing the car to go hot after about only driving 5 miles. Not to mention, I can't locate the thermostat housing compartment in the car. It appears that this department has been bypassed. After doing some research on the gm Hhr cars, it appears that I am along with many other Hhr owners are experiencing the same issue(s) with this particular car having overheating problems. Gm really needs to evaluate this problem and recall these cars for repairs. It was 01/01/2014 when this vehicle overheat issue occurred.

The car is a 2006 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. Owned this car approx. 3 months with problems from day 1. First week took in for 3 front end alignments, car always pulled to the right, problem never fixed. After one month when summer arrived no cold air, had to have evaporator replaced $1,000, car in shop for 2 weeks, air still not blowing cold. Replaced low pressure switch, high end switch, pressure line, still no cold air, problem was never resolved. Would idle real hard at stops. Told it was a broken motor mount, replaced $150. Car overheated, replaced thermostat, still overheating, could not figure out why. . . Finally the turbo engine blew on the 3 month anniversary of owning this car. Had to call bank to volunteer a surrender due to cost of replacing engine. Car dealer was no help, just told me there was not a recall or warranty on this vehicle. Called Chrysler and was told it was dealers responsibility. Wow, I will never own a Chrysler again, this was the first and definitely the last!. car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Dodge Durango

On April 2013 we purchased a brand new 2013 Dodge Durango rs. Two months later, in June, we took a trip, the car overheated on the highway. Within a few minutes the car shut down- we got it towed to the closest service station. Dodge determined the cause of overheating was due to a broken heater hose. On March 2014 we took another trip, two hours into our trip it overheated again, we let it cool down and drove it to the nearest service station. The car was serviced for two days, Dodge determined the cause of overheating was due to thermostat and sensor malfunction. A week â½ later- March 22, we took it back for the same problem. Dodge determined the cause of overheating was due to air pressure in the engine. Four weeks later, April 21, we took it yet again for the same problem, which brings me to today. As a result of this constant problem we have been spending a tremendous amount of energy, time and money (hotels, rentals, ect). This issue has ruined my vacation, has caused me to miss work and meet deadlines. When we had our first incident, I decided to call it a ¿fluke. ¿ I said, ¿this can happen to anyone, I decided to forget it and move on. When it ruined my vacation yet a second time and the problem continued after multiple services, we came to the conclusion that this car was unsafe and unreliable for me and my family. I don¿t think it¿s fair that I keep this car and risk the chance of this vehicle having some internal damage that will affect my family in the future. I am not looking for a way out of my loan but simply would like for Dodge to put me in a new vehicle. I currently have a claim with Dodge and I don¿t feel like I been getting the attention I deserve. Just got news on my vehicle today and they want to open the engine and change out the heads. If I can get some help on this matter I would really appreciated. Thanks - case #24773244. This vehicle overheat problem happened on Sunday, Jun. 16, 2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Dodge Charger

I was driving my 2006 Dodge Charger after just getting it out of the shop. With no notice the car began to overheat I immediately pulled over and called a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived the car wouldn't start. Went to Dodge where they said I either needed a new engine or they might be able to save the other one first I had to pay $370 for the test. I should not be dealing with engine issues at 95k miles. The government needs to fix this or everyone should file a class action lawsuit against Dodge for this defect. The failure date was 09/12/2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Honda Civic

The Honda Civic suddenly overheated. After letting the engine cool and adding coolant, the car overheated again about ten days later. Our mechanic discovered four tiny cracks in the block. An internet search revealed Honda Civics 2006-2008 have a known manufacturing defect which causes the cracks. Honda has issued TSB 08-044 to extend the warranty on the engine up to eight years. However, if the car has a rebuilt title, Honda will do nothing to remedy the known manufacturing defect. My wife has been left stranded twice by an overheated vehicle. If the car overheats in traffic, there could be a fire or collision. While Honda acknowledges the defect, they have refused to recall the car. Having appealed three times to Honda for help, I now appeal to the NHTSA for help. This problem occurred on Monday, May. 6, 2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Honda Civic

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Honda Civic. I purchased a car for a dealer that has a rebuilt title due to the fact it was in accident where the air bag was deployed. So I bought the car any way because I at the time strongly believed in the reliability of any and all Honda motors. A month after I bought the car it started to over head due to the common issue with all 2006-2009 Honda Civics of the block cracking. I called Honda to see if they would cover it but they would not because the warranty is void due to the rebuilt title. I believe that this issue of the engine block cracking should not be a warranty issue and should be a recall. This is a major issue that Honda should take full responsibility for and fix any and all cars that are have the issue with the r16 block cracking. Honda being so well known for the reliability it is a shame disappointment that they refuse to list this issue as a recall in stead of warranty extension. Even for the cars that have the warranty extension there is no way to tell when this issue will occur so why would you but a 8 year limit on the warranty. I have only bought Honda cars since I was able to and no I feel I may never buy and Honda again or brag about its reliability. I full expected better from this company and now because I am a college student who has putt all my money and savings to buy this car because it was a Honda. . . I can no no longer afford repairs because it is such a costly issue having to replace an entire motor is like having to pretty much buy a new car all over again. The car over heats and I am forced to stop were ever I am at to wait for the car to cool before I can add water which will only leak out minutes later due to the cracked engine block. This issue happened on May. 9, 2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Hyundai Sonata

The car was a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving on the grand central parkway going 50 mph the car suddenly lost all power and stalled. The engine had seized due to loss of oil. There had been no oil warning light. Car had been serviced regularly since purchase. Car was towed to dealer. Dealer informed us that short block needed to be replaced & work was done. We have tried to find an oil warning light on the a instrument cluster and have had no luck so we are not confident this won't happen again, creating another unsafe situation the car did not feel right while we drove it. At one point, about a month or so later, it stalled out. We called Hyundai for a tow but the car eventually started. A week later the car overheated and we brought it to a service station & checked the coolant. It was low & so we added coolant. We also checked the oil & found it down by one quart. (this was about 2 thousand miles after the short block was replaced). Car continued to overheat in traffic. We took the car to Hyundai for service where they discovered that the fan was not working. We asked if it was normal for the car to stall while on the road if it overheats, & we're told yes it was normal. We consider this to be a serious issue with this car. We have filed a complaint and received an incident number but have not received any response from corporate. We do not feel safe in this car or transporting our grandchildren or anyone else. Please contact us a. S. A. P. Thank you for your quick reply to our concerns. It was January 14, 2014 when this vehicle overheat issue occurred.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Land Rover Discovery

Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is SALTW16463_. Purchased Land Rover Discovery less then a month ago, since then the dash board looks like a christmas tree with the number of warning lights that are on. Was told by the dealer that the abs modulator was out and it would $3500. 00 just for the part, even though I researched it and found a repair kit for under a $100. However, the most recent warning light is the oil light and the car over heats in a very short amount of time, and knocks and bings. After reading the several post on this web sight, I too am now part of a long list of customers that have major issues with Land Rover. What a mistake it was. car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Land Rover Freelander

The car involved is a 2004 Land Rover Freelander. The VIN of this Freelander is SALNY22234_. I bought this vehicle in April 2010 and have had nothing but problems ever since. It had 79,600 miles on it when I bought it and was told by the dealer that it had just recently had a transmission replaced. They didn't even know how to open the hood - passenger side. 2 months later and it dies on me going down the street. I pull over and antifreeze is running everywhere. The thermostat housing had separated in two and caused the car to overheat. I called the closest Land Rover dealer and he quoted me $800 to fix it. I searched on the internet and found the parts to fix it for $80. I replaced the thermostat and housing (1 piece) and got it running again. Since then, the sunroof has quit, both rear windows have quit and the rear sliding window won't open by key. The driver side windshield defroster will not work (only the passenger side) and I have never had an owners manual. The drivers side door will not unlock with the keyless entry either. Now I get to the engine - it started running real rough and lost alot of power. I had a local mechanic run codes on it and this is what he found: p0303 - #3 cylinder misfire; p1319 - misfire emission relevant; p1471, 1472 - vis motors evap purge valve flow blocked; p1475 - leak detection pump leakage diagnostic pump reed switch did not close; p 1775 - gearbox fault transmission system mil fault. I asked his opinion and he told me it was probably not worth fixing. He didn't even know what all of this meant. He was just going to start tearing it down and see what he could fix. I can't afford that. I live paycheck to paycheck and I really thought that Land Rover had a good name and reputation. I emailed and called them and have had no luck to this point. Everything I have seen on this model proves that it is a vehicle that should be put to rest. I am looking for any help I can get. The failure date was 06/04/10.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Lincoln Continental

The car was a 1997 Lincoln Continental. Complaint against motor craft replacement parts. This is the second time I have received defective parts from motor craft. I presently have a 97 Lincoln cont. And recently had my a/c condenser replaced along with a tune-up. In the process, the thermostat was replaced. It was a genuine motor craft part. After installation, the car overheated because the new thermostat was defective. My mechanic replaced it with another new thermostat and the car over heated again. The second thermostat was faulty. The mechanic was not upset because he stated Ford/Lincoln pays mechanics for labor whenever a replacement part is defective. So, mechanics don't care, only the consumer suffers. One mechanic admitted this happens quite often, the supply people will simply place a defective part back on the shelf. The result is dealers want to discourage people from repairing fords/lincolns by making consumers go back for repeated service calls (motor craft thermostat). This problem occurred on 12/14/04.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Mercedes Benz C230

The VIN of this C230 is WDBRN47J92_. I leased a Mercedes Benz C230 compressor for my daughter in 2001. The sun roof didn't slide back on the exterior or the interior. The dealer dismantled the sun roof. Mercedes refunded the first month's lease payment since she did not have use of the vehicle for the first month. After one year the sun roof needed additional repair. At 31,000 miles - the power steering failed the brakes failed and were replaced the differential broke the sun roof once again wasn't working. . . The interior sliding mechanism failed for the third time in 2 and 1/2 years. The check engine light came on because the coolant sensor failed, the car overheated but the sensor registered cool. Currently at 37,000 miles - the transmission had to be taken apart because it wasn't shifting gears. The motor on the driver's power window broke and had to be replaced. The left turn harness had to be replaced because the flasher broke. While they were fixing the transmission they somehow damaged the rear window and the rear windshield is now being replaced. The check engine light is still coming on occasionally. Mercedes ceased to manufacture this vehicle in 2005. My daughter spoke to the regional rep. , he was unresponsive, rude and hung up on her. I have lost confidence in this vehicle and I have every reason to believe that it will continue to break down and jeopardize my daughter's safety. The engine could break down because of a defective sensor that they cannot seem to fix. The incident date that follows is the date of the most recent problem . . The transmission and the rear window. The failure date was September 5, 2005.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Suzuki Reno

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Suzuki Reno. Was driving on i40 to wilmington, nc from raleigh, nc. I stopped to get gas when I was about 30 minutes away from wilmington. I noticed my dashboard looked like it was jumpy. All the gauge lines were going back and forth. But it lasted only seconds and really I thought. . . Did that really happen. I got back on the road because the car was driving perfectly fine. Once I got into wilmington, the car started smoking from under the hood, the gauges were going crazy. The gauges were just going back and forth and back and forth like they were possessed! the car stalled, I got it off the road as best as possible, raised the hood and small flames were coming out. I took a towel and through it over the motor and it killed the flames. Check oil, it was fine, had plenty of gas. My dad said it looks like it had an electrical failure and then the fan went out and caused the car to over heat and it blew a head gasket. Not sure why it would have had an electrical failure. The car is parked now because I do not have money to fix it. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?. This problem occurred on Tuesday, Jul. 3, 2012.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Toyota Scion Tc

The vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Scion Tc. I do not understand why Toyota knows that there is a defect in their engines on these cars but they would not recall them. They recalled the camry with the same engine but not the Scion Tc. They redesigned the engine in 2007 to fix the defect. The known defect is the head bolts were too short, causing them undue stress and eventually stripping out the bolt holes for the heads. This causes the car to overheat blow the engines. This is a safety issue as many people have had this happen in the middle of the road and at intersections where the car dies. People can be rear ended and broad sided because of this. Toyota knew about the defect because they fixed recalled the camry which had the same engine. This is no small fix. For most owners this out of pocket expense is between $3000 - $6000 dollars depending on how much damage was caused by the over heating. There are complaints all over the internet of this happening but no one in the government is doing anything to push Toyota into fixing their known screw up. This vehicle overheat problem happened on 11/20/2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Volkswagen Touareg

The VIN of the problem Touareg is WVGBG77L05_. I currently own a 2005 v-6 Volkswagen Touareg. The vehicle has less than 15,000 miles. Approximately 3 months after owning vehicle, the vehicle exemplified obvious shifting concerns as well as poor gas mileage. The transmission was replaced in hopes to correct the issues described above, however, it has not improved. I was asked to drive the vehicle for at least another 6 months to a year, to break it in. In this time, my car has worsened. The shifting is more erratic, losing power, jumping gears, and nearly stalling when taking off from a stop and at intersections. As a result of the erratic shifting, I have been nearly rear-ended. My car has been in 5 times for 3 to 8 days at a time. The dealership has not been able to duplicate this issue, since it has replaced the transmission. The only service the manufacturer has done to my vehicle in hopes to correct the poor shifting and poor gas mileage (11-12 mpg) is computer software updates. None of which have ever fixed the problems. In addition, with each month that passes, new mechanical problems arise. The seat adjustments fail, along with the radio, the trunk hatch, the airbag, etc. The car overheats and smoke comes from the tires & wheels, of which the manufacturer took notice to, but could not determine the cause. The service department at Volkswagen has had 5-6 attempts to service the multiple problems since may 2005 and it is now January 07 and my car is still in the shop for the same problems. In addition, the tires (w/ pads/rotors (sp?) are completely worn, and the vehicle has only 12k miles. The failure date was 05/15/2005.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of BMW 328

I had a low battery issue on my 2009 BMW 328i about 3 months after I had it serviced for a battery cable recall at motorwerks BMW dealer in bloomington, mn. Motorwerks diagnosed that the alternator was not working properly and needed to be replaced. I had tires plus replaced the alternator and battery for half the price compared to motorwerks. Unfortunately, the aftermarket alternator that tires plus installed caused my car to over heat because it was over charging. I eventually took my car back to motorwerks to replace the alternator and battery. I emailed the service consultant if it was normal for the original alternator to malfunction so quickly on a 2009 BMW 328i. I also informed him that I had my car serviced at motorwerks for a battery cable recall in March 2013 and asked him if it was possible that the original alternator issue was related with fixing the battery cable. He strangely has not answered my question which makes me wonder if they are not taking responsibility for the original bad alternator if it was related to the battery cable recall service. I'm also wondering if other 2009 3 series BMW owners had a low battery issue due to a bad alternator after having their cars serviced for the battery cable recall in March 2013. If the original alternator issue is found to be related while servicing the battery cable recall then I would like to get a full refund for their service on my new alternator and battery. Thank for taking the time to investigate my car issue. This vehicle overheat problem happened on June 27, 2013.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Buick Rendezvous

Brought a new 2002 Buick Rendezvous cx from a dealer. At about 10,000 miles the car started having numerous problems that were beyond normal wear and tear. Starting with the engine light and other problems. They were repaired under the warranty. But about 24,000 and without warranty, the car got overheated for a 15 minutes traffic jam. Turned out the front wheel bearing needed to be replaced, and the ac sensor wasn't working. Replaced the front wheel bearing sensor. About 6 months later, the other wheel bearing needed to be replaced. Just about 1 month ago and 35,000 miles later, the overheated problem happened again, compounded with the a/c linkage, and the abs sensor wasn't working. I paid $1,200 for fixing the overheat problem and replacing the abs sensor. I didn't fix the ac linkage because it would cost me another $900!! now I am so worry that another major problem going to happen anytime soon. I am so disappointed with this car. I am hoping gm will issue a recall and stop cheating consumers. It was Sun., Jun. 11, 2006 when this vehicle overheat issue happened.

car   Vehicle Overheat problem of Cadillac Catera

The car involved was a 1999 Cadillac Catera. The VIN of this vehicle is W06VR52R5X_. I brought this vehicle at enterprise used car sales on April 30,2002. I was guaranteed a bumber-to-bumber inspection of the car and was to be in operational condition. After I left the lot with the car; I could only go approximatly a 1/4 of mile before I needed to get gas in the car. That was the begining of the trouble. So far since April of this year I've had to replace all of the tires, brakes, and other repairs that thankfully was still under the warranty. The car had to be towed twice to the dealership. As we speak the car is being repaired again. The dealership had informed me that I have three holes in the car that has caused the car to overheat, plus other problems that they have found. When it rained the car leaked inside. At first I thought I may have forgoten to roll up a window. After the second time I knew better and took it into the dealership. I found it hard to believe that enterprise never had a problem with it when I experinced it a couple of times before I went to investgate. The reason that I'm contacting you is that after talking to a repersenative of enterprise, and informing him of the same information that I have just informed you of; I was treated as if I'm some kind of inept person who could not even understand the simplistic workings of a vehicle such as flat tires with metal threads showing through, or able to notice the brake light on the dash board or the sounds of metal rubbing on metal. I was asked repeatly if I knew for sure that the brakes were really needing to be replaced or if it was some type of scam that the dealership was trying to get extra money, or if I took the brakes home as evidence. I don't know of too many people who request their old brakes for some type of evidence. After about 10 minutes of this type of interogation I ended the conversation realizing that absolutely nothing was going to be done about the situation. This problem occurred on April 15, 2003.
