The vehicle involved is a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. I was on the freeway going 60-65 mph. My car jumped or I just felt a change and my rpm needle moved. As I tried to push in the gas pedal the rpm needle would move up to 4rpms but my speed wouldn't increase it was almost as if I was driving in neutral I pulled off to the side of the highway just in time for my car to stall. I sat there for only a minute and started it again and drove back home fine to my cousins shop where he found nothing wrong, no codes found and their was never a code displayed on the dash during this. My transmission fluid wasn't burned and it was clear and pink. I'm frustrated bc this is an gm issue and they aren't doing anything. I could of been hit and killed. My dad has a blazer that is sitting in our driveway for the same issue, the gm dealership among a couple other places can't find out what's wrong. Someone please help me among others get gm to look into our cars at least for free. I have a child that is always in the car with me an if anything was to ever happen to us because of an issue gm won't resolve there will be many lawsuits including mine. The vehicle involved was a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. The VIN of this vehicle was 1C3AN69L04_. This is a common problem on 1000's of Crossfire's and mercedes (all models from 1998 forward). This issue is the bas system and brakes. Intermittingly, and usually during warmer weather when applying the brakes the bas light comes on, as does the light indicator. The issue is that the brake lights do not come on. There is a fault where if the bas is not working, the brake lights do not come on. They are tied together in the electronics. The bas is not required to stop the vehicle, however no brake lights because of the fault is extremely unsafe. The vehicle cannot be driven. Research online has found 1000's of complaints, no resolution and typically hundreds or thousands in repair costs that do not fix the issue. The brake lights should run independently of the bas system. A common fix is connecting an inline fuse from the brake switch to the brake light, if one is mechanically inclined to do so. Contacting mb states they know the issue but cannot determine the cause they also stated too costly to change the system for a % of owners. Other car manufacturers have brake lights wired separately from bas systems. This problem occurred on 05/01/2013.

The vehicle was a 2014 GMC Acadia. While I was driving my car in traffic, the green car indicator light came on and slowed down my speed to a complete stop. I pulled over and allowed cars to go around me as I tried to restart the vehicle, 3 times, and it would not start. I called onstar to see if they could do a car check and told me nothing was wrong. After an hour of being stuck on the side of the road with a car that would not start, onstar got me a tow truck and towed me to the dealer ship. The dealer ship at first could not figure out what was wrong with the car and tried to see if it was the indicator light, after 3 days the called me and informed me that the battery had a bad cell which had caused the cars system to shut down immediately while I was driving. They gave me a new battery and that cleared up that problem. I am very concerned with this happening to someone on a highway, imagine if someone could not control there car and speed while doing 70 mph in the fast lane, this could easily cause a car crash!!! I was fortunate to be in a neighborhood only going 25 mph but it still could have caused a accident since there was cars behind me. It was a scary situation as I realized I had no control of my car, please make people aware of this because I have heard of gm have more bad batteries!. The car involved was a 2003 Acura Tl. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 19UUA56613_. I was pulling off the interstate and came to a red light on a hill right before haywood road. I had to stop because the light was red and when the light turned green I pulled onto haywood road and the car went through 1st gear, 2nd gear and right before it went into 3rd it slipped out of gear and just revved to around 4000 rpm. When the car went into 3rd and started sipping I had a pile of cars that bunched on my behind. I had two guys in a truck scream and yell obscene gestures. This problem occurred on 04/02/2014.

The car involved is a 2003 Acura Mdx. The VIN of this vehicle was 2HNYD18803_. While traveling at around the speed limit on a busy freeway the vehicle suddenly started coasting without any warning. Stepping on the gas caused the engine to rev but no acceleration, which made it extremely dangerous to try to pull the vehicle to the shoulder with the right lane heavily occupied by 18 wheeler trucks that are long and respond slowly. Any speed you loose, particularly after applying some brake to move from one lane to another, cannot be regained to safely maneuver with flow of the traffic and make the subsequent lane change even more dangerous. After towing to an Acura dealer it was diagnosed with a failed transmission and costs $6,100 to replace with a rebuilt transmission. Although the vehicle is beyond its warranty period, it is nonetheless disappointing to have an Acura fail in this fashion considering that there are many lower cost vehicles that easily last beyond 100,000 miles without transmission issues. The vehicle certainly met its warranty requirements, but it is really the sudden nature and crash risk of this failure that is a bigger concern. I later learned from 3 CO-workers that had similar transmission experiences with their Mdx. Two were 2001/2002 Mdx with approx 100,000 and 80,000 miles. The 3rd was a 2006 Mdx with only approx 55,000 miles. The failure date was Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.

When it works it goes off at about half a car length only, no matter how you adjust the alarm to go off, one car length, two car length, or three car length. I have reported this to Honda, and I do have a case number, and Honda did send a area manager to check this out. I still feel that the system does not work, it is not a dealer problem, this is our fifth Honda. If more cars with this system are produced and let out on the highways there will be some massive accidents. Please help us corrct this problem. The failure date was Mar. 16, 2014.

After the light turned green I slowly accelerated to turn left when the car accelerated immediately to about 50 mph while I was entering the intersection, I managed to to turn left. Despite vigorously braking, the car continued at what seemed like an incredible speed, it felt like an accelerating race car. I hit a truck and another car sideswiping them as I tried to swerve out of the way of traffic and parked cars. The car travelled approximately 1/5 of a mile before I was able to stop by putting the vehicle in park. The air bags deployed. This vehicle speed control issue occurred Friday, May. 9, 2014.

Dealer has cleared codes and replaced parts multiple times, but the problem remains. Safety issues are: 1. Driving in remote areas in low range, and being unable to shift into high range prevents driving on paved roads. . . Which could leave a driver stranded. 2. I looked up this problem online and there are alot of owners experiencing this same issue in the same year, +1 and-1, and with the same approximate mileage, it says that kia has come out with an update to the transmission computer to remedy the issue, the kia dealer wants an outrageous amount to update the computer, when discussing this with kia corporate they said well if a recall is issued then we can get refund, but I dont have the cash to pay for the repair, an update should be free, they are acknowledging the defect, there for because of the danger it can cause a recall is in order. . . The car involved was a 2015 Kia Motor Sorento. I was driving my new kia sorrento on a two lane road. While driving in a passing zone going 50-55 mph, I attempted to pass a truck. My right hand bumped the gear shift to the left (at that time I had no idea that by slightly bumping the gear shift the vehicle went from automatic to manual. . . There is also a boot over the gear shift that prevents visual confirmation that the vehicle is in a different mode ). While attempting to pass the truck, my vehicle would not accelerate past 55-60 for approximately 11 seconds. I narrowly missed a head on collision with another vehicle. After understanding that the gear shift was bumped into a manual position, I have tried changing my vehicle from automatic to manual at many different speeds then attempting to accelerate. Sometimes the vehicle will accelerate and other times acceleration won't occur for 11 seconds. I have tried similar maneuvers in Cadillac suvs, Volvo suvs, and a Subaru SUV and there was no acceleration delay regarless of speed. I feel this is a setup for a deadly situation. It was Apr. 25, 2014 when this vehicle speed control issue happened.

I began accelerating on a viadock (bridge) when I felt a snap underneath me, as I reached the peak of the brigde, the car stalled out and I began descending on the bridge with my 2 daughters in the car. It completely stopped before I was able to reach the bottom of the bridge, which put me in harms way of traffic coming over the hill. I immediately hit my hazards and prayed everyone would see me before rear ending me. I was able to get the car towed. Then I found out it my timing belt broke; causing my engine to shut down. Total cost to fix will be $4000. I researched this make and model and found that hundreds of other people have reported similar issues. There seems to be a lot of issues with this particular make/model/year. The reviews on how Land Rover has been handling this particular issue are mixed with some saying they rectified the problem immediately and others saying they would not even respond to their complaints. There have been numerous complaints w/both Lexus & Toyota (Lexus. Limited service campaign 923 lsc 9lh). My engine is now ruined. Cost est to repair. . $6,000. 00 to $10,000. Purchashed from a Toyota dealer. . Neither the Lexus dealership nor the Toyota dealership are willing to help. . Both are aware of this plastic. . Vvti oil hose and has replaced with a metal line. . On later models. . . . I have had the car for 93 days. I also have the accelerator issue (sticking). . Not told this when I purchased car and faulty passenger air bags and faulty brake pads. . This is not only total dishonesty, but had I been on a long bridge that I had just crossed. . I would have driven off the bridge, as the steering locked up!! please any help/assistance will be appreciated. I am having to rent a car, as I work on the road every day. . Vehicle (08 Lincoln Mkx) was cruising at 35mph going down slight incline when suddenly vehicle started accelerating on its own at ~3,500rpm. As the vehicle was going down hill at 35mph in a 30mph zone with no other vehicles in sight, neither gas nor brakes were applied as there was no need. Foot was off both pedals until I realized that the car was accelerating on its own at an uncontrollable rate and it was then that I applied the brakes. Car continued to accelerate as the brakes were being applied. Acceleration lasted approximately ten seconds and then vehicle reverted back to normal. Brought the vehicle in for service the following day (13may2014) and was told that there are currently no service bulletics or known safety issues with this make and model. The failure date was 05/11/2014.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2012 Mazda Mazda3. I was driving along a city street on the way to a mall when I noticed the traction control warning light come on. My car then started to decelerate. I pressed on the gas and noticed that the needle on my tachometer was running high indicating high rate of rpm. I could not drive faster than 35 mph for fear of redlining and possibly damaging the engine. I went back home and parked my car. Later when I started my car the traction control warning light had turned off and I was able to drive the car normally again. This is a very serious matter that could result in serious accident if it had happened on a freeway or on a mountain road. I no longer feel safe driving this car, not knowing when this might occur again. I will be having the car inspected at the dealership since it is still under warranty. The failure date was 05/10/14.

One week later same thing wet to pull onto a busy street and car stalled almost causing another wreck, tried to drive it home and stopped at the grocery store, when I went to pull in the car stalled again in the middle of the street, blocking on coming traffic. Called Mazda to see how much it would cost to be fixed, the lady told me that if it was still under warranty it would be free but that expired in 2011. I have seen many of the same complaints about this, Mazda has admitted to it being a problem but has not recalled it. We have two kids and thank god nothing serious has happened with us in the car. Ever since I have purchased my Mercedes Benz C230- 2007 model, I have been regularly maintaining it as per mercedes recommended maintenance instructions. Recently I experienced an unexpected transmission issue in my car. The car lost acceleration on a major highway while driving at a speed of 65 mph. I had to pull over to the shoulder and shut off the engine for a few minutes. Only after restarting the engine, the acceleration improved. I have experienced this issue three times now and am concerned about me and my family's safety. I have researched online on NHTSA. Dot. Gov, benzworld. Org and a few other blog sites where numerous mercedes C230 owners have experienced exactly the same issue. My question is that if this is a known safety related issue and has been reported to Mercedes Benz USA, llc. Several times, why has Mercedes Benz not initiated a recall. I hope the company is not waiting for a disaster to happen. I would appreciate if NHTSA could please investigate the issue. The car was a 2010 Mercury Mariner. I had two separate occasions of my car stalling in the past three days. On may 1st I was traveling at about 40 mph when my wrench light came on and the car stalled out. Fortunately there was a median right by me and I was able to hurry up and move over before the car came to a complete stop. On may 3rd I was traveling at about 35 mph when the wrench light came on and my car stalled out in middle of the road. This time I was stuck in middle of the road but no one was behind me. I was able to restart the car and continue driving. If this had happened on the main road then there would have been a good chance of an accident occurring and harming me or my children. The car cannot be driven as the pwr str warning comes on for a few seconds, and no steering or severe loss of all steering control of the vehicle is lost after the car has run for 15 minute and every 5 plus minutes after the first failure. Gm will not fix anything on my vehicle, I made a complaint with NHTSA and have made internal complaint at gm regarding my 2007 Ion and the 3 accidents due to the loss of ignition and total power including break failure going down the highway at 50 plus and losing control resulting in accidents. I need help to start the complaint about the power steering as it will not allow me to safely drive the car at all. I am disabled and on oxygene, I have requested special accomidations from gm to assist with my disabled condition to help expadite any repairs and all warranted coverages for power steering, air bag non function, and recalled ignition. The car presently has 55,000 miles and cannot be driven as the power steering will not allow the car to be controlled. The previous, most recent accident, caused structural damage including a front fender complete bent and radiator bent at a tail collision due to ignition outage with no breaks at 30 plus mph. The vehicle is a 2008 Saturn Vue. I was driving with my family in the car, going around another stalled vehicle on the highway when I was not able to accelerate past 25 mph. My vehicle acted like it went into neutral, when it should have gone into 3rd gear. I was able to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road with only brakes and steering. If this had happened while trying to merge onto the highway, I could have been rear ended. From the research I have done online it appears that gm is aware of a faulty 3-5-r wave-plate used within many of their 6 forward gear transmissions used on vehicles from 2007 to 2009. I believe this part should be replaced through a recall to avoid any serious future injuries in all vehicles using this transmission with the faulty wave-plate. I believe this includes 6t70 and 6t75 transmissions in vehicles from 2007-2209. This vehicle speed control problem happened on Apr. 26, 2014.

The vehicle is a 2014 Subaru Forester. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JF2SJADC9E_. After a routine periodic maintenance that was reported to include a software update (unrelated?), intermittent events with uneven and briefly absent acceleration occurred when attempting to increase vehicle speed from slow speeds or from a stopped condition when depressing the throttle. No indicator lights were present on the dash of an electronic control problem or any unsafe condition. After initially denying the problem the dealer was able to replicate it. Electronic data was reported to be collected on the event and examined by Subaru. Subaru America is reported to have suggested checking the knock sensor connection. Dealer reported "tightening" the connection. No parts listed as replaced, no reason for "loosening" given (at 11500 miles), no reason given for "intermittent" performance, no reason given for lack of indication/dash light for a presumed uncertain state in a sensor controlling acceleration/fuel ignition. I guess the dealer and Subaru America know their product best - and this issue is resolved - but I am surprised that an intermittent connection to a sensor impacting acceleration would not result in a dash indicator or code. Also, since no reason for the "disconnection" was given - and no parts were replaced - I can only assume that a factory assembly defect occurred (manifest just after a software change?). In any case, Subaru America indicates this problem is resolved. No accident occurred, but since the performance issue was associated with acceleration control, it deserves to be noted. I took the vehicle to the mechanic, he stated the code indicated the transmission range sensor was having an issue, not covered by warranty. I had it replaced at a later date. The fix lasted about 2 months and the sensor again went bad, I just had it replaced again but it did not solve all of the issues, I have to drive in 3 to keep the car shifting and keep it from randomly hopping out of gear. This is dangerous! I have pulled out onto highways and had the car jump out of gear and not be able to manuever to a safe spot, nearly getting hit numerous times. This is a known issue! if you visit any Suzuki or repair forum you will see numerous posts on this exact problem. It is a safety issue as well as a mechanical one. The car involved was a 2005 Toyota Highlander. Crash happened when the problem occurred. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is JTEGP21A55_. My car was decelerating in the far right turn lane of a busy intersection. The brake had been applied approximately 1000 ft from the intersection as there were 3 vehicles stopped ahead of me. I was traveling at 10 mph and I increased the pressure to the brake pedal as the car approached a stopped vehicle approximately 100 feet ahead of my vehicle. The engine revved to to the highest rpm reading and lurched forward as I continued to apply full pressure to the brake pedal by adding my left foot to the already stationary right foot. I steered the vehicle to the right and drove on the sidewalk and grass between a burger king and autozone parking lots to avoid hitting the cars in front of me. I shifted the gear shift to neutral and the accelerator did not disengage. I was nearly standing on brake as the car continued to accelerate with the engine screaming from the high rpms. I straightened the car's path to avoid a parked vehicle in the autozone parking lot. I jumped a curb onto grass and continued to accelerate until crashing through a cinder block wall supporting the autozone sign. The driver side airbag deployed upon impact which engaged the engine kill switch. While still standing on the brakes, my car traveled another 25-30 feet before coming to rest. The driver behind me can confirm that I was decelerating and the brake lights on as the car "took off" on its path toward the autozone sign. The car was totaled and I received neck, shoulder and chest injuries from the impact. I was able to exit the car on my own. This problem occurred on Monday, May 19, 2014.

The vehicle involved was a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. After purchasing the car (our first hybrid) we noticed that the breaks were acting different when slowing; while slowing down to stop at a stop light or sign or to slow in traffic, if the car is under 30 mph and hits a bump the breaks will release (while your foot is on the breaks) and the car will lunge forward even though your foot is pressing down and has not been released. This has happened over the past year and no one can seem to figure out the problem. The breaks are new and several forums have been read in regards to trying to figure out the issue. It seems that several hybrids experience the same issues. Breaking under 30, the car will hit a bump, breaks will release causing the car to lunge forward and possibly causing an accident. It has happened enough that our family is considering trading in the car. We have almost been in 10 plus accidents because we are almost stopped at the stop sign and the car hits a bump and accelerates into traffic coming from the left/right. With children in the back seat, this is a huge concern. We have sent Toyota an email asking for inspection, however they said they would just like to have our dealer look at it, however they have not been noted of this issue in the past, when clearly there are hundreds of others that are having the same issues and they have been in accidents. I find it very difficult to believe that acceleration/break release when hitting a bump causing the car to lunge forward into moving traffic is a safety concern when the breaks are perfectly good. We will be trading in the vehicle if something is not done about it shortly, not only are we worried about our family but we are also worried about others who could be involved. Being the Smart techie that I am, I try the highly technical solution to any problem that I don't quite understand - I try to turn it off and on again. The same god awful shaking and stuttering. But no epc light. I think to myself, maybe this is just a transient thing. Try to pull out of the parking space, and there it is . . . The damn epc and check engine light. But my home's only a mile away, maybe things get better on the way there. You know, its a new car (bought 16 months back, brand new, and has ~7600 miles on it). But no, as I try to "drive" the piece of shit, it starts shaking more violently when I get to 25 miles and hour. So, I pull over, and a quick google search tells me to stay below 20 mph and get it to a dealer ASAP. So I get the car towed, and the next day the dealer tells me its a faulty ignition coil that has been replaced and tested and things should just work. But I'm scared to get in that car again. Just noraml maintance until late Dec I got in my car started it up it started with now problem back out of my driveway pulled up into ongoing traffic I had drove this car all week no signs of any problem was coming no lights flashing in the car panel so just know that you have to becareful because you can be on the highway and it will not give you no signs as it didnt me luckly I wasnt going as fast as someone on a highway but as soon as I thought I was going to go with the flow of the traffic I am getting up to about 35 out of no where I can not push on the gas pedal to get speed it was the other way around the more I push on pedal the more it would slow down and idle I was close to another drive way so I just let my car coast in the drive way I couldnt even put on my break cause my car had died so everything kinda locked up so I put it in neutral and let it coast into a park and space . Once I got to a stop I look down and my ets light was on well I just thought maybe it was on because I was low of gas. So I wait later to get gas and that was not the case I put gas in the car and try to start it it started for a quick second I heard it going to die so I quickly put my foot on the gas and it died all together . So please becareful there are no waring signs at all I had no problem earlier that day so if possible try to go in and make sure that you dont have an defect in you ets or etm it could save a life or many life. And keep the roads safe I feel vovlo since they know of these defects should send out letters to owners of the yr that they had many complaints to do a recall in the first place to those that could be affected it was a manufactor recall in my car however I guess since my car was the yr and model and make but it was an turbo they felt no need to be safe and expand the the recall. The vehicle was a 2013 BMW X3. Crash was involved with this problem. In stop and go traffic on the interstate I was braking after moving forward a few feet and the engine started racing causing the car to lurch forward (given I was on the brake) until the brake would not hold any longer at which point the car accelerated in traffic despite me pushing even harder on the brake. The brake was completely unresponsive at this point. I avoided rear ending the car in front of me by swerving around him but could not avoid the vehicle farther ahead in traffic and hit the right rear of a uhaul storage unit towed by a vehicle and the BMW flipped onto its right side. Miraculously, we walked away with only minor cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Seat restraints and airbags worked perfectly which is the only kind thing we can now say despite having no prior issues. Whether it is an onboard computer malfunction or not we will never own another BMW. . . And if the other online posts have been there when I purchased the vehicle in sept 2012 (and had I read them) then I never would have purchased the vehicle. Coupled with other carcomplaint. Com, BMW community blogs, and NHTSA posts surrounding 2012 and 2013 X3 events of the identical nature there should be an immediate investigation as to the simultaneous and concurrent event of the throttle acceleration while braking, and the brakes failing (as if the computer thinks the brake pedal is the gas pedal?) . . And a recall before deaths occur . . . Though it is likely they've already occurred since the dead can't testify as to a problem that other BMW dealer service departments fail to replicate and therefore discount. The back hatch of our vehicle also flipped open allowing items to fall onto the highway (despite no impact to the rear of the vehicle) though all passenger car doors remained closed. The vehicle has been totaled. We would certainly not get into that car ever again even if it were repairable. The failure date was Apr. 13, 2014.

The car involved is a 2007 Jaguar Xk. While accelerating to change lanes my vehicle went into wide open throttle. Despite removing my foot from the accelerator and slamming on the brakes the car could only be slowed to 40 mph. Hit the ignition switch which shut the vehicle down including lights. Appeared I would be rear ended therefore hit ignition and vehicle restarted with car still stuck in wot with foot off accelerator. With engine screaming and right foot fully on brake only able to hold car down to 40 mph. Hit ignition again which shut car down but once again following car about to rear end me and therefore once again hit the ignition with same result with car racing forward at wide open throttle despite no engagement of the accelerator. This time after holding the vehicle to about 40 mph with full pressure on the brake with my right foot, and the engine at wide open throttle, all cars had cleared out of the way. I therefore hit the ignition switch which shut down the vehicle. This time I brought the vehicle to a full stop. I then put the car in neutral (up until this time it had been in drive) and pushed the ignition on the car and it started at normal rpm. I then shifted into drive and the engine remained at idle speed. I then , at idle speed, traveled two blocks to my house. The smell of the burning brake pads was terrible. The next morning I had the vehicle transported on a flat bed truck to the local Jaguar dealer where the vehicle remains to this date. This all transpired over approximately 300-400 yards over a number of seconds. There was nothing on the floor or in the driving compartment that interfered with the accelerator or brake. This issue happened on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
