car   Water Pump problem of Chevrolet Cruze

The vehicle involved is a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. Car overheated on drive home. Pulled over immediately and had car towed to dealership. Water pump was replaced. Since that time can continually smell antifreeze inside car. Also have found puddles under car several times. Have taken car back to dealership. Was told they could find no leak. They stated the surge tank cap was loose and that they refilled tank. But it still smells. It is serviced by the dealership only. So why are they having to tighten the cap? and are they having to fill the surge tank repeatedly?. This water pump problem happened on January 18, 2013.

car   Water Pump problem of Chevrolet Cruze

The car involved was a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. I purchased the 2011 chevy Cruze with approx 55 k. When I drove the car at the lot everything seemed to be in good working order. The next day I kept hearing a surge like sound in the engine and when the accelerator was pushed the car would not gain any speed or power. I contacted the dealer and explained what was going on with the car and was told that this was common in the chevy Cruzes because of the engine size and that why the car is able to get such great gas mileage. I could not stand the noise any longer March 19, 2014 I took the car to the dealers service department where car was purchased. I informed them of the issues I was having with the surging sound and the loss of speed & power. The next day informed me they could not hear any surging sound and only found 1 problem leaking thermostat. I was referred to the gm dealer to get fixed under the powertrain warranty. It has not even been a full year since I purchased this car. On April 7th 2014 I was driving on the freeway during rush hour and all of sudden I hear a dinging sound all the engine lights came on, along with the hazards lights and the car began to lose power, the center panel kept reading transmission hot idle engine. I had not had any other previous warnings, all the gauges appeared to be normal with no sign of over heating. I contacted the chevy dealer and took the car down right away. Explained to them what happened and the issues the diagnoses that was given from the service dept where car was purchased. The next day the chevy dealer contacted me and said they had replace the water pump. Also the transmission had burnt oil and needs to be flushed and it was not covered under the warranty. They too could not find anything else wrong as to why transmission is running hot,not even with the surging sound and lose of power. April 11th 2014 had the same issues again. This problem occurred on Apr. 7, 2014.

car   Water Pump problem of Chrysler Pacifica

The car is a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While starting to accelerate going onto the expressway, the vehicle just stopped. There was power from the battery but the car just stalled. It was horrible winter weather with extreme cold temperatures so the car was towed to a reputable nearby auto repair. It took two days but they found the problem to be a bolt on the water pump that had sheared off flying into the engine which in turn destroyed the timing chain and the entire engine. I called Chrysler in an attempt to find out if this had been another issue with the 2005 Pacifica model but their response was asking me if we had it towed to an authorized dealer. The engine had to be rebuilt which was our only cost saving option but the mechanic that worked on the car stated he had never in all of his years in the business seen a bolt shear off of a water pump inside the engine and it should never have happened. Chrysler told me to take the defective parts to an authorized dealer who confirmed that it shouldn't have happened but when I called Chrysler back with the findings from the dealer, all they said was that they would make note of the problem and present it to a committee for review. While this vehicle was still under warranty we had to have the back end seal replaced 3 or 4 times which kept breaking until Chrysler finally agreed to replace the whole back end without explanation as to why it kept happening. There seems to be a problem with this make and model which I believe could case injury if the vehicle were to stop in heavy traffic without warning. We were out of state when this happened and our son was returning the vehicle to our home ( an approx. 10 mile trip from west bend WI. To jackson WI) after having new tires put on it at our request. This water pump problem happened on Fri., Feb. 21, 2014.

car   Water Pump problem of Chrysler 300C

The car was a 2007 Chrysler 300c. We were on the freeway and in the space of several seconds, we lost rpms, the check engine light came on, then the traction light, then all of the lights, then it died just as we got onto the shoulder. The mechanic had to replace timing belt and water pump just to get it running enough to run the codes. Mechanic reports that there are bent valves and 4 of the cylinders are misfiring. It was 03/28/14 when this water pump issue happened.

car   Water Pump problem of Dodge Intrepid

The vehicle is a 2004 Dodge Intrepid. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 2B3HD46R64_. Car began steaming, and smoking. Had to pull over to let it cool down, no extra antifreeze available. Once cooled, limped it to mechanic. Mechanic stated fuel pump is out again, after only 45,000 more miles on brand new Dodge water pump. Mechanic also stated that oil pressure is too high and seals bad, oil spewing out everywhere. He said this is a defect of the Dodge 2. 7 liter engine and since water pump is incorporated into motor, the cost to replace it, put all new seals and fix the oil pump would not be worth the value of the car and he will not do it because he refuses to "spend other people's money on a junk motor. " he stated that even rebuilt Dodge 2. 7 liter motors are bad and will quit after only a few thousand miles. He says you can not get a good good 2. 7 liter Dodge motor for any Intrepid built between 1998-2008. He had paperwork showing Dodge knew it was a poor design that would blow and not be worth the cost of repair. I want this corrected and anyone who owned one of these lemons reimbursed for the cost of repairs for these vehicles! Dodge knowingly sold these lemons and did nothing to fix the issue until 2008! this is a clear cut case of consumer fraud!. This water pump problem happened on Thu., Apr. 10, 2014.

car   Water Pump problem of Ford Escape

The vehicle was a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving the vehicle to the dealer to be inspected under NHTSA recall 13v583 when the engine reached 3000 rpm's huge volumes of blue smoke came out of exhaust system. While at the dealer the dealer performed the recall inspection and related tests, which resulted in replacement of the water pump and in the dealers words "all coolant system and related modifications per extensive recall" Ford recall 13s12c and 13s12d. The dealer would not confirm that the recall had been repaired or eliminated for this vehicle after these repairs were completed. Most of the parts listed to address the recall make sense except the replacement of the oil dipstick. The dealer also addressed the blue smoke issue and in the dealers words "found excessive oil in the turbo and excessive play in the turbine wheel". This resulted in the replacement of the turbo. Please note that this engine is the troubled 2013 1. 6 liter ecoboost engine. The parts that failed and were replaced should not have failed on an engine with only 8449 miles on it. The vehicle was in the shop from March 18th until April 1st to get repaired. Also understand that we do not have an issue with the dealer, we feel they have done what they can to resolve these defects in this engine. We are concerned that NHTSA has not done enough to get this troubled engine off the streets and we are also concerned that there still has not been full disclosure from Ford of what is wrong with this engine that is causing multiple recalls. This issue happened on 03/18/14.

car   Water Pump problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle involved was a 2009 GMC Acadia. At approximately 90,000 my engine began misfiring. I took it to a local shop where they performed a full tune-up and replaced all of the plugs. However, there were also coils that were bad and had to be replaced. A week later, my check engine light came back on and the Acadia was missing again. I took it to another shop where they showed me that the plugs were already charred and needed replaced again, and there was another coil pack that needed replaced. A few days later the check engine light came back on and a co2 sensor was going bad so I replaced it. A few days later the check engine light came back on and the GMC dealer told me 2 of the 3 catalytic converters were bad and needed replaced. My check engine light is still on and I'm just waiting for the thing to explode while I'm driving it. After reading other similar complaints about power steering and engine problems with Acadia's, I'm convinced a major investigation into these vehicles and their safety needs to be launched by the gov. Now there is an air bag recall and in the past have had headlight recalls, water pump recalls, and who knows what else. The whole fleet should be declared lemons!. This problem occurred on Jan. 1, 2014.

car   Water Pump problem of GMC Terrain

The car involved is a 2010 GMC Terrain. It stalled and the check engine lights came on. This happened again 12/13 replaced exhaust cam solenoid and again in janurary 2014 when they had to replace the camshaft position exhaust actuator. The have also at different times had to replace the high pressure fuel pump, water pump and balance shaft chain, replaced the condenser, evac on the air conditioner on this vehicle and the other 2010 GMC Terrain we own. We do not feel like we should have had to pay for the ac condenser since it happened on both vehicles we own within months of each other but we did. The other 2010 Terrain we own was in the shop in January 2014 because it stalled and it was cam shaft and the throttle body about 2 weeks later we had to take this one in for the cam. The other Terrain has we own has also had the cam worked on several times. This vehicle has also had several recalls for other issues. Something needs to be done about these vehicles because there are so many people having these same problems. Look on edmonds online forum at all the complaints about the 2010 Terrains and the 2010 equinox. Something needs to be done so the owners can get rid of these vehicles before they stall again and somebody hits them and kills them like the six people who died because the 2007 gm cobalt stalled on them while driving. We need the ntsa to help us. They were also going to charge us on the other vehicle almost $900. 00 to fix the cam shaft and throttle body, when the problem had obviously not been fixed one of the other times that GMC dealerships worked on it until I complained to GMC. Then the dealership said we had to pay about $250. 00 because the owner has to pay something when its out of warranty. That vehicle had about 43,000 miles. I don't feel like the owners should have to pay one penny when there is a repeat problem on a vehicle and they can't seem to keep it fixed. This problem occurred on 07/08/13.

car   Water Pump problem of Honda Civic

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Honda Civic. History from odi # 10572660: 6-18-09 Honda dealership did Feb 2009 recall (replaced auto-tensioner pivot bolt & reroute belt) at 28,324 mi. 9-15-12 engine failed (48144 mi. ) approaching stop intersection. Subsequently would not crank to start. Towed car to service station. 9-18-12 vehicle repaired -- due to broken pivot bolt, a new Honda recall belt kit, including new bolt, belt, belt tensioner assembly & water pump pulley had to be installed. Approximately 20,000 mi. After recall kit & new bolt was installed to prevent the pivot bolt from breaking, the bolt broke and stopped the car from functioning completely. Had I been in higher speed traffic the results may have been disastrous. ----------------------------------------------------------- 12-20-13 car died approaching intersection -- towed for service. Again pivot bolt had broken, causing cascade of events preventing car from functioning -- this time within only 7000 mi. After new belt tensioner recall kit & new pivot bolt was installed. When this occurs, the car is inoperative. This bolt has been replaced three times and broken twice. I am now afraid to drive car for fear of it ceasing to run at any time. Honda internet forums specifically for the 2006 Civic mention many similar occurrences. This problem occurred on Dec. 20, 2013.

The car involved was a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. While traveling down the road at approximately 50 mph the crank pulley fell off the motor. This prevents the alternator, water pump and ac compressor from functioning as they are belt driven. With the alternator not functioning the batter will be drained to the point of dead (depending on what accessories are on) and with the water pump not functioning the car will almost immediately overheat leaving the vehicle stranded. This water pump problem happened on Dec. 1, 2012.

car   Water Pump problem of Infiniti G35

Hello, I own a 2003 Infiniti G35 and have an issue with my car overheating after driving it for short period of time. Also have noticed a check engine light come on. I've had multiple mechanics look at the car and replace items such as the water pump, thermostat housing, and engine fans and continue to still have the issue. I have been having this same issue on and off between mechanic visits for almost a year now. This is a serious hazard, considering that these incidents have happen with me also driving on a highway and having to pull over and get my car towed to my place of residence. I have noticed that I am not the first person with this issue and a number of drivers have the same issue. Just do a google web search for "2003 Infiniti G35 overheating" and you will have a number of results come up on this issue and also a number of other drivers posting on the same issue with no resolution. I would like to know if this is part of recall that my car hasn't been identified as part of. If not, I strongly believe that a recall for this model needs to happen for this issue since this is a serious hazard to drive the car in this state. Any assistance on this on going issue will be appreciated. This issue happened on 04/21/12.

car   Water Pump problem of Jeep Liberty

The car involved is a 2002 Jeep Liberty. My car experienced a sporadic rough idle over a 2 week period. One day the check engine light when on after starting the car. After reading the codes cylinder 2 was determined to be the issue. A shop replaced the ignition coil and all seemed well. The next day after driving the car all day with no issue, I restarted the Jeep after a 10 minute break and it would not start. When it finally started it sounded like half the cylinders were not firing and had a slapping sound. Towed it to dealership and was told cylinder 2 had no compression and it needed a new cylinder head. Both sides would cost $3,500. Parts were ordered and 10 days later they called me and said there were other problems and the cylinder head was not the issue. Piston seemed bent and it needed a long engine block and a water pump. This would cost $7,000. Not worth the fix. It seems cylinder 2 is an issue in many Libertys of this year. This water pump issue occurred Saturday, April 27, 2013.

car   Water Pump problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The car is a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1C4RJFAG9E_. After taking my new Jeep into dealer because the "check engine" light came on, I was told that there were 16 stored codes but they could find no problem and the computer was reset. Two days later the check engine light again came on. I took back to the dealership and was told "there is a leak in the fuel tube" we have to replace it but we will have to order the part; we don't have it in stock. I was told "it is safe to drive". . . A leak in the fuel tube-what the heck is leaking-is safe. Ok, but two trips to the dealer with less than 2,500 miles is a bit much. I have a 2006 Jeep, same make/model that had 1st major repair (water pump) at 145,000 miles. . . . So much for improved models. I am very concerned that this is a harbinger of future issues. This problem occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.

car   Water Pump problem of Kia Motor Sorento

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Kia Motor Sorento. System was in the shop for routine maintenance I. E. New spark plugs, drive belts, and spark plug wires. Picked up the vehicle and drove fine for a day. Upper cat converter got clogged. . . Things just went down hill from there. Crankshaft seal busted, oil pump failed, water pump had to be replaced. Engine rods started knocking. Engine has to be rebuilt. Have been unable to drive my Sorento since March 2013. Bought the Sorento in October 2012. Just had the Sorento in the shop for engine rebuild. Had money set aside from tax returns. I paid the original quoted amount to have the rebuild done. It is costing me $2000 in addition to the base cost that was originally quoted. I don't have that kind of money just laying around for those types of repairs. Oh well. . . Guess I won't be driving my car for another whole year. Oh. . . One more thing. . . . Since I am the second owner kia refused to service the vehicle without them wanting over $8000 for a new motor. . . Fyi. . . . Kia warranty's and bbb are both worthless. . This problem occurred on Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2013.

I was notified that car would be repaired with new trans and car would be ready on wed. The dealer called me a said the water pump was corroded and was out of coolant. A water pump was replaced and trans. I picked up the car on thurs and noticed fluid under the car the next morning. Took the car back to the dealer the next morning, he stated they overfilled and now the problem solved (fri) y confidence shaken and not feeling safe, I traded in the vehicle (got fair market value) ,for a leased newer model. I have lost $7,000 for owning the vehicle 7. 5 months, with 11. 5k miles. I am arguing with Kia Motors foursome compensation, but their attitude is they will not do anything, suggested dealer discussion. I am continuing a dialoguewith kia, they need to be responsible. car   Water Pump problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Land Rover Freelander. My son turned 16 on March 18, 2012. We wanted an SUV that would be safe to drive. We wanted a car with lower mileage. We found a 2004 Land Rover Freelander at a local dealer with only 56,000 miles. Car was in awesome shape inside and out. New tires, etc. Paid $9,500. A few days later took the car to my local Land Rover dealer in portland oregon to have the car looked over. You know the normal oil change, or whatever else they do on a car at 55k miles. After they looked it over they told me the coils needed to be replaced. And also the plugs. I said sure whatever. $1,200 later I had my son's car back. A few weeks later it had a odor to it, and it was having problems going up hills and the engine was making strange sounds. A day later it stalled. Had it towed to Land Rover dealer in portland oregon and they told me it appears that is was out of coolant. They thought at first it must be a faulty thermostat or possibly the water pump. Nope. They came back with there is coolant mixing in with the engine oil. That it would another $1,200 to $1,500 just to find out what the problem actually is. Told me if it was head gaskets or something in the block, it would cost at least $5,000 or more to repair. The Land Rover dealership offered to replace the blown hoses and they told they could get it working again but it was not going to run for very much longer. I checked with other Land Rover service companies and they all refused to even look at the Freelander as they knew it was not going to turn out well. I finally found a mechanic in portland oregon who agreed to take it apart and fix it. They told me no more than $3,500. What was I suppose to do, we paid $9,500 and selling it for scrap seem like a bad idea. So as of today, June 6th I am still waiting for the repairs at a local shop on our 2004 Land Rover Freelander with only 57k to be completed. The failure date was Apr. 30, 2012.

car   Water Pump problem of Mazda Millenia

I have had a terrible time with my 1998 Mazda Millenia. We bought the car in 2001 with approx. 30,000 miles. It seemed like a great car. Then one day it died as I was turning into my driveway at home. Thank goodness I wasn't driving on the main road. It was diagnosed with a head gasket problem shortly at 70,000 miles. We immediately attempted to replace the gasket. My mechanic discovered, after entering the engine, that there was a crack in the block. So we replaced the engine with a used engine with 30,000 miles on it. It, too, had coolant in the oil. The third engine is also the same. I spoke with a service and parts manager, jim kelley, at century Mazda in August 2003. He knew the problem right away. Several Mazda Millenias made in that year had a "faulty waterpump". He said it wasn't recalled. He offered me a new remanufactured Mazda engine with a warranty of 3 years/unlimited miles. But for $5,000+. I did not have the money at the time. I found out now, Mazda only typically gives a 1 year/12 month warranty on their engines. So I am to assume that they wanted me to be quiet and get a "very good deal". My car still does not work, and has cost me thousands of dollars. If I was informed of the water pump problem, the cracked engine block never would have happened. The oil and antifreeze with breathed in probably hasn't helped us either. My husband is undergoing tests for seizures right now which began about a year and a half ago. We have both experienced severe migraines and breathing and allergy problmes that we never had two years ago. What can I do?. This issue happened on March 5, 2003.

car   Water Pump problem of Mitsubishi Galant

The car is a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. I purchased my vehicle used from a dealership here locally, and have had problems with it ever since I bought it in late may of 2007, my brakes have started to squeak, I overheated due to either a faulty water pump and/or thermostat, and I have noticed that the steering pulled slightly to the right, and I put new tires on it and it was aligned before purchased. The dealership I bought it from may only be able to run a diagnostics on it, and might not have the tools to fix it. The nearest Mitsubishi dealership is 180 miles away. Warranty covers water pump and a rental of up to $35 a day, but in order to get a rental, I have to get a diagnostics done to make sure it is a covered component under my warrany I won't be able to get a diagnostics ran for at least several days, leaving me without a vehicle. Dealership refused to loan a car off of the lot. This issue happened on Friday, July 6, 2007.

car   Water Pump problem of Nissan Frontier

The vehicle was a 2007 Nissan Frontier. While driving I notice steam from under the hood and the temperature gauge was at maximum hot. I immediately pulled into an auto shop. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they told me they were aware of the issue of the water pump and anti-freeze getting into the engine. They said the warranty had been extended to cover this problem but it was only extended to vehicles that had less than 80000 miles and since I was over the allotted mileage I was responsible for repairs. How can they not be responsible for repairs on a problem that they knew existed and would have blown up my engine had I not immediately stopped the truck and have it towed to a dealer? if I had been traveling at a high rate of speed I shutter to think of what may have happened. This water pump issue occurred September 5, 2013.

car   Water Pump problem of Volkswagen Passat

The car involved was a 2009 Volkswagen Passat. For the last 4 years, I've been dealing with major mechanical and non-mechanical issues with my Volkswagen (vw) Passat 2009, which I bought brand new in 2008. Vw's mechanics found that my car had defective parts in it, which were there from the time I bought it. I have had so many problems with the car that I don't trust it, even though vw's mechanics said they've either fixed or replaced the bad parts, but each time I've taken it in for repairs in the past, I've had the same parts repaired or replaced over and over. A summary of these issues: - rear side window sunscreen hook - replaced due to falling out – year 2009 - rear windshield sunscreen - replaced because it had broken – year 2011 - engine fault - car died and running roughly ever since – year 2011 - engine light coming on 4 times – years 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 - driver’s door lock - had stopped locking – year 2012 - engine cover - screws fell out of the rear of engine cover – year 2012 - 2 water pumps - replaced due to coolant draining completely out of the reservoir – years 2012 & 2013 - knob to adjust side mirrors came off and now unable to adjust side mirrors – year 2013 I have paid nearly $40,000 to date on this defective vehicle and vw doesn't seem to care how many times I've been put in harms way and inconvenienced. I also have relatives and associates who've had problems with their similar model vws too, so I know I can't be the only one who has had these mechanical issues with a vw in the us. I feel there should be an investigation into vw corp. Of some sort by government officials to uncover the defective construction of my car and others, so all of us who've suffered through this will be redeemed in some way and future consumers will be safer by vw improving their vehicles' construction. This water pump problem happened on Wed., Jul. 6, 2011.

car   Water Pump problem of Volkswagen Tiguan

The car was a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WVGBV75N19_. Today is the 17th of December and for the 2nd time in 4 months the coolant light has gone off in the car. The first time it happened was towards the end of August (I just purchased the vehicle a few weeks earlier). When taken to the dealer service department the problem was the water pump went bad. After the mechanic said it was still cover under warranty they replaced it. Today the coolant light went off again, same issue has before. After checking the car fax the first time it happened, this is the 5th water pump replaced in the car in 2 years. Today calling the dealership, the person at the dealership has said there are quite few Tiguans that have come in with the same issue the last few weeks. Researching the issue online there are indications that this is a problematic issue that has not been addressed by Volkswagen. The warranty for the part only covers a year and 12000 miles. It was 08/29/2013 when this water pump issue occurred.

car   Water Pump problem of Audi S4

This has been a known issue to many 2010 Audi S4 owners. Many of them reported a waterpump failure basically under any circumstances, I. E. , highway driving, cornering, and low speed driving. 2010 Audi S4 produced in 2009 clearly have a defective water pump, which tend to mostly fail prior to 10k miles on the car. Many S4 owners and forum members reported many kinds of hazard that this failure can bring, including coolant spilling that can potentially harm the surrounding motorists (slippery surface caused by oily coolant) and the loss of power steering which can be extremely dangerous on highway. My water pump has not failed yet, but from the failure ratio shown on a Audi S4 owner forum, it can be clearly seen that most of these water pumps will eventually fail at any mileage. I am seriously worried about endangering others, myself, or my family members because of this potential failure on the water pump of 2009-produced 2010 S4. I would appreciate your concern over this issue. The failure date was Aug. 30, 2010.

car   Water Pump problem of Audi S4

The VIN of this vehicle is WAUDGAFL4A_. 2010 Audi S4 water pump failure -- this complaint is identical to the previous two complaints surrounding this model's water pump failure. It should be noted that a near full loss of steering directly related to this failure occurred at the same time. In my case the car has been repaired, however like others who have detailed their experiences, Audi has not acknowledged this is a systemic issue for this model, nor is the repair satisfactory as the distinct odor of g-12 (g-30 in europe) is present. Though this is a safety issue first, it is also a consumer protection matter as the both the dealer and Audi of America who I have been in communications with has not been clear about this issue. It was Saturday, August 7, 2010 when this water pump issue happened.

car   Water Pump problem of BMW 535

The vehicle is a 2008 BMW 535i. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is WBANW13528_. Drove car for appx 1 mile. Stopped for 10mins at a store. When I started it back up, a fan was louder than usual. I then recieved a high heat warning telling me to drive moderately or risk over heating. After a few more miles, I recieved a warning to stop the vehicle immediately due to excessive heat and not to open the hood for risk of burns. The vehicle slowed to a crawl. Luckily I was a few blocks from home. Next morning I took it to a non-BMW service center who said that the water pump malfunctioned ($950). There was a recall for certain 2008 models for the water pump. I confirmed with BMW that this model was not included. Based on similar complaints online, I believe it should be. This problem occurred on May 7, 2014.

car   Water Pump problem of BMW X5

The car involved is a 2008 BMW X5. While driving at 35 mph a loud noise started coming from engine compartment, sounded as if the fan was running at warp speed. A few miles later a warning came on stating engine was running hot, I pulled off to the side of the road and allowed it to cool down. After it cooled down I drove 2 more miles to my office and called a tow truck to send to BMW dealership. BMW informed me the electric water pump went out and need replacement at a cost of $1400. 00. Internet shows 38,000 recalls of x-5 for water pump problem but just my luck my car is excluded. I am waiting on a response from BMW USA regarding my request to have issue covered. My vehicle has only 40,000 miles and we have already replaced the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay and now the water pump. This car was over $70,000 when purchased and you would think they would stand behind their product. This water pump problem happened on 04/15/14.

car   Water Pump problem of Jaguar XJ

The vehicle was a 1998 Jaguar Xj. Not sure exactly what the problem is. I have had the complete fuel system and water pump replaced. There appears to be a defect in the placement of where the gas cap is located on the vehicle (on top near the trunk) rather than on the side. When there is a hard rain, water leaks into the gas tank; dirt and debris gather in the opening for the gas tank and must be frequently cleaned out. The vehicle will hesitate while driving and then will refuse to start again. In reading complaints from other owners about the plastic parts used in the engine, perhaps this is my problem. As far back as the complaints go about the unreliability of the vehicle, there should have been a recall to determine why the car will just stop running for no apparent reason. This water pump issue occurred January 6, 2012.
